Reviews for Grove End

Review 1:Advertised continental breakfast but it was cereal and toast, but that's a minor quibble at this value for money Would def use again

Review 2:Lovely comfy bed great staff ,pub and takeaway easy walk ,good parking ,ideal

Review 3:Old stained carpets, shag pile carpet in shower, curling of the wall. Shower mouldy, stained sheets and pillow cases, very very dated and very very tired. Paid 96 without breakfast!

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Manager was uncompromising, abrasive & downright rude. No Wifi 1st night for work. No hot shower 2nd night after work. Bathroom had toilet roll dispenser instead of roll & lights/vent came on automatically which destroyed my eyes in the middle of the night then stayed on for 10 minutes afterwards keeping me awake. Room only very expensive (£99pn) & very small with 1980s décor. I will never stay at this hotel again!!

Review 6:parking facilities Shower when it works

Review 7:Not a lot.

Review 8:Friendly chap in charge, off raod parking, quiet, yes it's ona roundabout but hey, it's watford! If you want premier inn and Sir lenny bleedin' henry then pay three times the amount and see if they have room...

Review 9:Clean, tidy accommodation and despite being on the corner near a roundabout was surprisingly quiet so a perfect nights sleept was had! Helpful staff offered assistance with directions to local shops.

Review 10:I stay away weekly, in Watford, usually for £75 - £84 double room, inc' big breakfast. All fully booked this week so I had to go slightly out of the main town. For the same price, this was something very different. Very small single bed & room, extremely dated, no bar/food/communal room and no contact with reception from the room. I can only assume the price is relative to the hoards of HP fans that now swamp Watford....and quite rightly. I guess we'd all cash in, given the chance. A few tweeks would actually make this a really nice place to stay.

Review 11:Nice, helpful man on reception. Free parking. Clean, tidy, shower was nice and powerful, and water hot. TV, kettle and coffee in room. Good wifi.

Review 12:Shower door had been replaced with curtain that bellowed in when you have a shower but the water was hot and plenty of pressure. Breakfast not available but local pub did a good breakfast for £4.

Review 13:the hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. In its defence I believed the pictures on booking.com. More of a workman sleeping pad than hotel. Shag pile carpet in the enquire, don't want to think about the inhabitants in that.

Review 14:the staff were friendly

Review 15:The location wasn't ideal, particularly if you needed to get to Watford Junction. There are buses which help but it is still a little out of the way.

Review 16:The casual and laidback nature of the staff and hotel itself. The room and particularly bed was very comfortable.

Review 17:Single glazed window, hear all the traffic outside.

Review 18:Nice warm hotel, friendly helpful staff, comfiest hotel bed I have slept in! Very Clean Bathrooms.

Review 19:The shower took a long time to warm up No breakfast available

Review 20:I liked the helpful staff The close location to the station The car park was handy The room was comfortable

Review 21:That there was no food services. The bed where solid horrible nights sleep. Only haf 4 channels after the ariel had broken or something. Definatly didnt get what we paid for at all and had to share a bathroom with not one other room but three of them....wouldnt recommend it to anyone sorry

Review 22:The location was brilliant for us as we were visiting harry potter studios. 20 minuite drive away ideal location with toby carvery 2 mins away aswell

Review 23:Nothing to dislike at all.

Review 24:There was a welcome when I arrived. Facilities were pointed out with directions to the room I was staying in which was very clean and comfortable and although it wasn't en suite the bathroom was located directly across the landing again very clean and spacious. All in all a very pleasant and comfortable stay, I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Review 25:The room was cheaply furnished--- bathroom and false wall all D.I.Y. There was a small kettle but only a couple of sachets of milk, tea, coffee etc and no snack, room service or breakfast facilities there at all. It would better suit workmen or travelling salesmen working away but not a solo traveller (disabled at that) arriving at 6pm on a Sunday evening with no prospect of finding a meal anywhere or wanting more than a couple of hot drinks even for the whole evening and next morning. I would not have booked had I known , especially since the Mercure was the same price. I chose this hotel because ,being smaller than the Mercure, I thought it would have more friendly service---not nothing at all!

Review 26:The owner kindly carried my case up to the room as I am disabled.

Review 27:Cleanliness left a lot to be desired Good having a sink in the room - but the wall beneath was damp and mouldy, very unpleasant The shared bathroom was not clean - hairs everywhere, disgusting shower curtain etc. On our floor there was one bathroom and one additional room with a toilet between 10 rooms - not sufficient!

Review 28:Friendly welcome on arrival

Review 29:The room was dreadful. Very old musty dirty just quickly made up to make money. Worst than student aaccommodation. No shower and a grotty bath you wwouldn't want to use.If u make this room available u are asking for trouble

Review 30:Sharing a bathroom so if you donmt want to do this, make sure you book a room with an ensuit.

Review 31:The staff were very kind and helpful. They ordered us taxis when we needed, directed us to shops nearby and the train stations and even chatted with us about non work related topics. Free wifi and location is perfect.

Review 32:Noisy extractor fans at night.

Review 33:Friendly and helpful.

Review 34:Very clean comfortable accomodation and plenty of secure parking 5 mins drive from M1

Review 35:Location. It's quite far from High Street and Watford Junction railway station where most of the trains stop.

Review 36:Clean and quiet room.

Review 37:No breakfast Room was cold. Heaters too low.

Review 38:Location was good. Accessible to transport links.

Review 58:Very helpful with short notice booking and early departure

Review 59:No breakfast, hard to find out if there was any. Local breakfast facility opened at 08:00, too late for me.

Review 60:Fast WiFi

Review 61:Friendlt helpful staff

Review 62:Very dated rooms cracks in the windows. My room didn't even have a bedside light.

Review 63:Clean room, comfortable bed and free WIFI

Review 64:No breakfast £90 per night is to much.

Review 65:Location

Review 66:A bit pricey for the size of room.

Review 67:Close to the leisure centre and other facilities. Cosy and comfortable.

Review 68:Shower room seemed to have no heating, so was a bit cold

Review 69:They had a room and upgraded me - very welcoming and helpful

Review 70:The bed was dirty with dark hair on both pillows. The room was basic. TV had distorted sound.

Review 90:I was upgraded to a double room for the same price as a single. friendly man on desk.

Review 91:The harsh lighting - and the noise from the nearby roundabout.

Review 92:Very nice and helpful manager.

Review 93:Beds were hard

Review 94:No breakfast

Review 95:Clean and well kept

Review 96:Staff didnt show up

Review 97:The neighbours lol a little noisey walls are abit thin.

Review 98:Staff reception, very curtious, Clean room, wifi!!!! Location & convenience!

Review 99:not much i could complain with.

Review 100:really about my budget because i booked it in the last minute, and the guy in reception was really good and patient to wait until i checked in late night as i have noticed. location wasn't bad, 15 minutes walk to the train station and few take away restaurants on the way to hotel. the room was clean and smell nice.

Review 101:The wifi is very patchy and I don't get a terribly good phone signal in the hotel (with EE). When staying in room one make sure you pop the light above the mirror on before getting in the shower as the main bathroom lights are on a motion sensor which can't pick you up in the shower and you will be washing in the dark, which I suppose is a bit of a novelty but tricky for shaving legs. With mirror light on its fine.

Review 102:Very convenient location for trains to Birmingham and Harrow, excellent facilities nearby (huge tesco five minutes walk plus restaurants, Watford shops not far to walk). Good parking, owners are lovely and very helpful, bed is comfy and hotel is nice and quiet.

Review 103:dirty rooms, dirty hotel, appalling conditions. closed during the day. shared facilities disgusting, dirty, broken tiles, filthy floor

Review 104:absolutely nothing

Review 105:Thread bare carpets in room No reading light. As far as I could see only one single mains socket in room. On my booking form it said ensuite but had to use bathroom at end of corridor.

Review 106:Secure Parking

Review 107:Bed had a little yellow stain on the bed linen.

Review 108:Owner was friendly and allowed us to leave our luggages there when we arrived at 9am which is much earlier than check in time. Room was spacious and comfortable.

Review 109:not really clean enough for me dirty coffee mugs broken drawers very wobbley chair.directly opposite a busy roundabout

Review 110:the price was good.bed was very comfortable.gentleman at the reception was very helpful

Review 111:It was very dated, in need of modernising, carpet in the bathrooms and wood chip walls and dark paint. Very 60's 70's

Review 112:Friendly, welcoming attitude, was given an upgrade due to being a single female staying there alone, ideal location for my business trip.

Review 113:Hotel generally cold Breakfast poor quality - 'Continental' @£5.50 - lacked fresh fruit and bread was cheap white sliced. And jamsbudget brands. Coffee was low grade

Review 114:Room great

Review 115:N/A

Review 116:The location was ideal for my business appointments around the Hertfordshire area. The hotel has secure parking, my room was clean and well presented, and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay at the Grove End Hotel again.

Review 117:1. communial toilet and bathroom with a clean your own bath sign. 2. no hot water. 3. only continental b/fast and not included in price. 4. no resteraunts in walking distance had to drive to tescos to get evening meal and breakfast. 5. room was cold and carpets dirty stained. 6. overall was not impressed with the accommodation or the sanitary situation.

Review 118:The booked room was very small and had three beds in it, although it was a twin room. The walking space in the roomwas very limited. The badthroom was at the other end on the second floor. The price £5.50 was too much for the very simple breakfast and should be included in the costs of the room. The restaurant and the breakfast facility was very poor. During the evening, when the landlord left, the free wifi was turned off.

Review 119:The outside of the hotel looked very friendly and cozy. The diner, hot lamb curry, was good.

Review 120:It was a bit chilly in the room.

Review 121:The hotel receptionist was very friendly and advised us the best way to get into London, the room was clean although a little cold, also no heating in the bathroom, the shower was glorious. Would stay there again if we needed to go into London. We were also allowed to leave our car there, whilst we went into London.

Review 122:The room smelled of bleach, suggesting it was clean - however the bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous guest and there was hair on the floor and around the shower. The windows did not open, so we could not get fresh air. It was fine for the 12 hours we were there.

Review 123:A very very clean hotel. Everything in this hotel is just perfect. From the floor, the carpets, the bathroom to the bedrooms and towels just sportless
