Reviews for Hotel Cladhan
Review 1:Leaving
Review 2:The room was spacious. And comfortable. The receptionist was so friendly and welcoming. And the dinner was amazing value for money and delicious.
Review 3:The radiator in my room made a noise all night - needed bleeding to remove trapped air . The breakfast was a disgrace - tasteless and poor quality - cheap sausages and tasteless black pudding , toast came in full slices on a plate - never heard of a toast rack ? - and the coffee was in drinkable
Review 4:I received an excellent welcome and was upgraded to a room away from the function suite where a tribute night was taking place . My room was well equipped and the bed comfortable . The evening meal set menu for £12 was excellent
Review 5:I booked for a party of 6 4 adults and 2 kids, I wasn't expecting anything much for the price and wow I was so very pleasantly suprised. The room size was superb with a room off the main room with 3 beds which again great size. Also enough towels and shampoo and body wash for the party. Cannot fault this hotel at all. The staff both during day and night on reception well very pleasant and so helpful with anything we asked. Breakfast in the morning well it catered for absolutely everyone within the party and so much choice. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 6:As soon as we arrived at the Cladhan we were greeted by friendly staff to check-in. Free parking on-site and free Wi-fi was great too. They have a taxi service that came within minutes which was handy for our night out. Our room included a fresh cooked breakfast which was fabulous with fresh coffee. The staff were very polite and friendly and we look forward to coming back. :-)
Review 7:The front of house staff weren't very helpful as we were travelling with two young children, one being a baby so we had lots of luggage. No help up the stairs with pram. Fussed about sterilising bottles. Rude when leaving. The cleaner however did offer us a cot and blankets etc which wasn't needed but much appreciated.
Review 8:The hotel was lovely and clean and modern. Our room was spot on.
Review 9:Very foosty smell on entering, reception carpet looked as though there had been a flood
Review 10:Apart from the negative comments I've made, all was very good. Staff very friendly, loved the room and facilities, good breakfast.
Review 11:Nothing,breakfast was superb. Even gave an old man next to us a box to take some of his breakfast away with him!
Review 12:The staff were wonderful & lovely to our dog.
Review 13:Although the hotel was clean it is a little dated. No wifi. Had difficulty regulating the shower water temperature.
Review 14:Location & very friendly courteous staff. Breakfast was very good with a varied menu, even the dog got a sausage.
Review 15:Nothing bad, only point was that my room was at the rear of the hotel..not so good vista.. don`t suppose the front would have been fabulous though..only there for 1 night, so no problem
Review 16:I had booked a double room..because often when booking a single room, it could be like a broom cupboard... I WAS GIVEN A HUGE ROOM, 2 double beds, good bathroom, lots of space..
Review 17:Very welcoming and helpful staff who went out of their way look after us. Nice ambience downstairs and great bedroom with everything we needed. Food and drinks very good value for money.
Review 18:We had asked for ground floor due to age/infirmity, there is no ground floor and we had to use stairs . Reception blamed the booking agent
Review 19:Close to town
Review 20:The location was only rated good because of the noise suffered when the local night club turned out in the early hours of the morning. Nothing the hotel could do but our sleep was disturbed.
Review 21:The evening meal and breakfast were first class. Such generous helpings. The staff were cheerful, courteous and very helpful.
Review 22:Noise level in hotel was totally unacceptable. After asking for a manager to come to our room to understand the sheer volume of noise we were moved from the family room situated directly above the function room (a party was on that was due to finish at 12.30 - 12.45 am. The manager didn't come to room but finally agree to move us to another room when my partner went to the desk. We were then up from one am when the guests decided to party on our landing. My nine year old son was competing the following day and was exhausted. £120 for the pleasure of not sleeping. Appalled and not even a partial refund by means of apology.
Review 23:Location was good.
Review 24:The bottom sheet of the bed was a little short & did not cover the mattress, under the pillows.
Review 25:The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. The food was excellent in quantity, quality & value. They were also very good on my gluten-free requirements.
Review 26:Our room could do with an up grade. In bath room need hooks for cloths and towel rail. TV - could only see 2 channels .
Review 27:Helpfull and friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Overall good. Would return.
Review 28:Everything, especially not the function room music in our bedroom for three hours after we retired. At least we could have been offered a different room at check in.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:The staff, the food the beds first class ... Only only point for us we were on bikes and would have liked somewhere to have chained them up at the back of the hotel. We used your railings!! Will definitely come back again
Review 31:Hauling our luggage up two flights of stairs ( no lift). Room was warmish, and hard to cool off as it faced the kitchen exhaust.
Review 32:Good location. Huge room. Excellent serving staff and breakfast.
Review 33:Restaurant (breakfast section) looks scruffy, crockery was tacky to the touch.
Review 34:Location right next to the Callendar park. Rooms very generously proportioned, recently refurbished. Staff were very helpful with advice about local attractions, taxi companies and public transport, and accommodated a number of special requests.
Review 35:Teacups in room were dirty had not been cleaned. Wedding on and guests were very noisy outside after midnight language awful glad no children in room !!
Review 36:Staff were extremely pleasant
Review 37:Hotel building Like a communist block goverment department.BREAKFAST The menu offers a choice of "fry-up" items allegedly "cooked to order". This was untrue. Granted, the food was cooked, but apparently some considerable time previously, not "to order". It was all lukewarm on a cold plate. The bacon was like shoe leather, the black pudding like a hockey puck and the sausages were not worthy of the name - a sort of pasty tube of dubious content. The tomato was uncooked, seemingly warmed by a hair dryer. Truly awful.
Review 38:Comfortable room. But overlooked by high flats and double decker buses.TAXI FREEPHONE For a rapid exit.
Review 39:Outside of hotel looked neglected not very inviting. Carpet in reception looked dirty, old and worn, not a great first impression. Fire alarm at 1.40 woke children not hotels fault but very annoying, staff did apologise in morning
Review 40:Staff were all friendly and very helpful, breakfast was very nice and good sized cooked breakfast.
Review 41:on the day we arrived, we couldn't get parked in the car park as there was a private function on. also when we arrived back at night about 11.30, the room we were in was directly above the function room and extremely noisy. we weren't told about this when we checked in. to get charged £85 for a room that you can hear every song is a bit extreme. I would suggest if you are thinking of staying here, make sure there are no functions on or stay clear of rooms 15 onwards.
Review 42:Coul have had a better shower in room.the job got done but it just took longer,to be fair there were work men in replacing boilers
Review 43:Food at this hotel was outstanding for the price, the staff were very nice and helpful to
Review 44:Bedroom was excellent clean and comfortable. All the staff were pleasant, helpful and willing to help. Good value food and selection. Some areas still require upgrading but that will come in time. Thank you all for a nice stay.
Review 45:Overall staff were very friendly and welcoming, restaurant and breakfast were excellent, room was spacious comfy and very quiet. Located within easy walking distance of town centre. Outside appearance did not indicate the quality and service of the staff.
Review 46:Couldn't open bedroom window due to extension being built and scaffolding very hot and stuffy in the room no 22 did get a fan but it was very dusty my husband had to clean it up a bit as one of our grandchildren has asthma.
Review 47:Staff were very nice and helpfully if we had known about the room before had we would have booked a different hotel
Review 48:the main thing that let the hotel down was the smelly carpet on the stairs
Review 49:nice quiet location with large comfy rooms and the staff were really helpful and polite. The food was great value and well cooked.
Review 50:There was a party at the time we were there so it was a little noisy in the room but it did stop at a decent hour.
Review 51:The staff were very helpful and friendly! The breakfast was very good and there was plenty of it.
Review 52:Damp smell in room, view over yard with rubbish and cars, vans coming and going, bathroom needing renovation and not very clean. Whole place needs an upgrade.
Review 53:Dinner in restaurant good and very good value.
Review 54:No plants/flowers outside really ugly like an old community centre.I never saw such a terrible place outside. Inside was drab and in needof refurbishment - right through. Location stuck in a council housingestate. Grey and drab like the rest of Scotland. I won't be goingagain. No shelf in the bathroom to put stuff on - this was the worst .
Review 55:If I hadn't booked this hotel I would not have stopped the car.Terrible frontage . The breakfast was very good. The evening meal wasgood and big portions - no complaints there. The staff were friendly. And as things go it was worth the money. It was clean with good sizebedroom and good size bathroom.
Review 56:The staff were very helpful, the rooms were amazing, and it was excellent value for a group of friends on bikes doing the John Muir Way. We reaĺly enjoyed our stay and will recommend your hotel to otber similar groups.
Review 57:Bathroom lacked coat hooks. Lacked feminine touches.
Review 58:Helpful friendly staff. Quiet bedroom. Quick service at mealtimes. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Obviously very popular with locals.
Review 59:Food was great, slept well, but mainly the staff were fabulous. I lost my purse in a taxi the evening of my stay. After hearing this, the receptionist (Lena) tracked down the driver and had it delivered to the hotel! They all went above and beyond.
Review 60:Buffet breakfast included a selection of pastries which were cold and hard. Lack of shelves in bathroom to put all our toiletries.
Review 61:Enormous bedroom with 2 TVs! Lovely staff . Very clean. Dinner great value at twelve pounds for three courses.
Review 62:Varied menu at both dinner and breakfast. Dinner was great value for money. Good wholesome food well prepared and served. Staff very polite, knowledgeable and attentive.
Review 63:bad/no wifi, view from room another room which was being renovated. No lift to second floor. People smoking outside main entrance. Lovely bathroom.
Review 64:Location, friendly staff, good food at great prices. Nice bar on site. Free parking.
Review 65:We did like it, of course we did, just a bit of a tidy round the car park/bin area would have made all the difference, but it was windy so may be that was the reason.
Review 66:The super efficient friendly staff; the huge very clean bedroom and comfy bed. The delicious dinner and breakfast. The excellent value for money.
Review 67:Only one tiny thing we found was that the socket was a little far away from the mirror for when you try to blow dry the right hand side of your hair. Feel bad even writing that.
Review 68:We loved every second at this hotel. The room was newly decorated to very nice taste. We didn't want to leave our room 'twas so nice. Three double beds and two tv's. Much more than required for two people. Breakfast was decent and lots of it. Dinner was only 3 course for £12! Staff were very pleasant and very helpful. We would have paid way more than we were charged for our room and dinner. Excelkent place to stay. Get booking people!!! We miss our room and staff when we left. Will go back soon..
Review 69:we could hear full conversations of our neighbours and people walking down the corridor. No hair dryer, and a shelf in the bathroom would have been helpful
Review 70:The hotel was loads better inside than out. Large room with large bathroom
Review 71:Waiting 20 minutes for hot water in the morning. Musty smell in one of the rooms. Cold in corridors and in rooms until we turned up the radiators
Review 72:Friendliness of the staff. Everyone cheery and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. All hot food and served promptly. Plenty on offer and good portions.
Review 73:Public corridors need freshened up. Staff saying hotel getting an upgrade which is already in progress.
Review 74:Nice big rooms, huge showers. Very clean, good breakfast, friendly efficient staff.
Review 75:we looked out of our room onto a building site, this was right next to window as if rooms are being extended we weren't informed of this before hand. I asked reception on the Saturday morning to have television reception fixed it still hadn't been fixed by time we left Sunday 11am
Review 76:location was excellent 2 mins from town
Review 77:No extra pillows in the room
Review 78:The meal being 2 for £10 and it was a 3 course meal and it was very filling and tasted lovely . The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 79:Room 8 no natural light we opened curtains to find a room being built at the side (no mention of building work on check in or booking). Unable to open large window more than 4inches to allow fresh air into the room. Bathroom requires maintenance shower hose damaged rust on shower curtain rail, cap missing off toilet seat hinge, looked disgusting and full of germs, sink plug did not work. Furniture and décor in common areas looking tired. In the room we could hear people entering and leaving ground floor toilets and the hand dryers operating you could also hear the constant rumbling of extractor/ventilation fans.
Review 80:The Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was of a good standard in particular the breakfast, good start to the day.
Review 81:Nowhere to place your toiletry bag in the bathroom and no peg to hang clean towel and/or clothes, no information booklet in the room to let guests know about the hotel facilities, meal times etc etc
Review 82:Pet friendly is a huge plus point and the main reason I booked, excellent 3 course meal for only £10, room good size
Review 83:the room smelled bad and the walls must be made of paper. Everytime someone walked down the corridor you could hear the floor boards creeking and the doors slam as the door closers dont work properly. i was woken up just after 5am by staff having a chat in kitchen/ dining area underneath room 18. we were moving around Glasgow, Falkirk and Edinburgh and stayed in numerous hotels and this is by far the worst ever. and a final thing would be if your staff looked at you when talking from behind the desk it would be civil and polite. wouldn't stay here again if it was free.
Review 84:No towel rail in bathroom, so when having a shower other towels have to be put at end of the bath, where they get wet, or on top of the loo seat. When we got to the room there was no info about wifi so had to go back down to reception to get password. Room was nice what we could have done with was couple of hooks on the wall to hang jackets as wardrobe space was limited.
Review 85:Girl taking order very nice, my husband asked for an extra egg and extra sausage, this was not a problem. When I made booking asked for view over the park, we got this.
Review 86:The hotel rents out quad rooms which are clearly abused by students causing noise disturbance on the night we stayed. Also too much furniture in the rooms ie huge desk not required taking up floor space in a small room.
Review 87:The bar area and restaurant area is nicely decorated and comfortable. The rooms are clean, smelling of fresh paint
Review 88:The staff having a very loud personal conversation with each other whilst cleaning tables over breakfast .
Review 89:The night staff was very accommodating and provided a pot of coffee to the room at 2am even though we had coffee making facilities in room
Review 90:We arrived in our double room to find construction work happening right outside our window, so there was no natural light in the room at all. No warning was given when booking, and they said they could not warn future customers booking online.
Review 91:The staff were friendly and attentive. The location is close to town centre.
Review 92:There was construction going on but I didn't hear it and had a great conversation with the workers so really not a problem.
Review 93:The Staff, breakfast, excellent location to walk to both the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.
Review 94:The staff were really helpful and welcoming-there was agreat selection of items on the evening menu and the food was both delicious and value for money.
Review 95:The decor was tired, sofas in lounge area worn . Our bathroom was a bit tired with a crack in the sin, a wobbly shower fitting(mixer shower!) and nowhere to put your toiletries. Decor all a bit brown, dark and 80's
Review 96:The Staff were excellent, very good service. The £10 for 3 courses dinner menu was very good value for money.
Review 97:The only problem we had, and it was a minor one was hot water not being on tap as it were. We had difficulty operating the adjustment between shower and bath, getting the adjustment right was a bit tricky.
Review 98:Our stay was great. The food on offer was excellent and full value for money as the portions were big. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a great room which was very comfortable.
Review 99:We had very noisy neighbors which is not a fault of the hotel but I wanted to point out that the walls are fairly thin. You cannot expect a quiet stay.
Review 100:Very accommodating staff. Excellent breakfast included. Comfortable rooms.
Review 101:The menu, £10 for three courses was exceptional value for money, however, personally would have liked to have seen more vegetables as an option - need my greens!!! Frozen peas, broccoli? I wouldn't have been offended
Review 102:5 stars for the staff. Hotel a little 'tired around the edges'but undergoing part refurbishment. Very clean, warm and comfortable.
Review 103:There were works going on right outside our window, the workmen didn't start early but we had to leave our curtains closed and we weren't warned about this. The room was quite small.
Review 104:Very friendly staff - welcoming and helpful. Nice relaxing bar area, excellent breakfast, room was clean with tea making and toiletries.
Review 105:Check in lady was on phone and did not acknowledge us till another member of staff came along. Lady on the phone could have at least said Hello can you wait a minute.
Review 106:Location
Review 107:there was a lot of noise from adjoining rooms very late at night and the room was very cold ,also we had no hot water.
Review 108:the food was excellent the staff were very welcoming the room was very clean .
Review 109:The lounge area is in need of revamp leather effect couches all peeling ..decor very tired ....dining area very dark no windows which is very strange .
Review 110:The staff were all very friendly and helpful managed to get into room early as we had wedding to attend elsewhere ....
Review 111:Unfortunately not a great choice for veggies. If you need to get up at 6 in the morning, make sure you tell them so you have hot water in the morning.
Review 112:Loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great and recommend you don't have lunch before as the portions are huge. £10 for a three course meal is amazing.
Review 113:Starways are a bit challenging for seniors with heavy suitcases.
Review 114:Close to the Wheel and town. Old fashioned but comfortable and close to supermarket for supplies.
Review 115:Nothing not to like.
Review 116:Welcoming friendly and excellent service. Attentive to your needs and totally get travelling with pets. Special pet friendly award from us. Excellent value quick service all with a smile and personal touch.
Review 117:Only thing that disappointed slightly was the breakfast on Sunday morning. Saturday was great but Sunday was a self service buffet that was barely luke warm.
Review 118:Minutes from town centre. Extremely clean. Staff all very helpful.
Review 119:Sound-proofing is not a strong point of the hotel. Hotel foot traffic is not quiet and although not a major issue there are some building works going on. However, this did not spoil our stay.
Review 120:In a central location it is ideal for tourists. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel is good value for money and the restaurant is outstanding value with a 3 course meal for £10.
Review 121:The bed was a DISSASTER but maybe it was just me . One thing the bed did do was get up in time to enjoy a lovely buffet breakfast to kick of my day .
Review 122:Superb staff, excellent food at a bargain price. Location in centre of town easily found and very quiet despite the location ,good car parking, rooms being refurbished so should get even better. A special thank you to all staff. We will be to spend more time exploring the town which on first impressions appears to be thriving and spotless clean. Kindest Regards to all. Graham and Isabel Peterhead 09/09/2014
Review 123:Lack of a shelf in the bathroom to keep ones toilet bag on. The floor was the alternative. No hooks for towels.
Review 124:You could leave the car and walk to the shopping centres as the hotel is convenient for the centre of town. Evening meal was a great bargain at £10 for three courses. The choice was excellent with 5/6 starters 13 mains and 5/6 deserts to choose from.
Review 125:We did not see anything more of Falkirk than our drive through it to find the hotel. the only downside to our stay was the view of the parking lot but given the locales of our other B&B's and rentals it would have been hard to compare.
Review 126:We were pleasantly surprised by the inside of this hotel. We had stayed in some lovely stone farms and cottages and had booked this place for it's location close to Edinburgh as we were booked into the 1030pm Tattoo and didn't want to stay right in Edinburgh. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They needed to change our room around and give us a slightly smaller one than the one we booked but they gave us an excellent discount and were most apologetic. We booked with a breakfast and were so glad we did, it was very tasty. The room was bright and clean and the bathroom was huge.
Review 127:Noise from corridor door banging at night and other doors.
Review 128:Dinner at hotel was superb and very good value. Breakfast choice was excellent. Handy walk from town. Good parking.
Review 129:Room was hot and was difficult to get adequate ventilation. Bedroom need a deep clean, as was a bit tired.
Review 130:Friendly staff Great restaurant with good deals and a good childrens menu, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The bedroom was big and spacious despite having a king double and two single beds. Bathroom was big and clean. Close to Callender House and gardens, we could just walk in to these.
Review 131:Wifi was out most of the time- big problem for someone needed to be in contact with family & work. Group of young people there fairly noisy.
Review 132:Dinner was good & excellent value. Breakfast also good, lots of parking, not far from town centre. Staff very helpful. Room comfortable.
Review 133:Lack of view from bedroom window (rear facing).
Review 134:Staff on reception and in the dining area particularly helpful and friendly. Three course dinner for £10.0 very good value and good quality.
Review 135:There was some black marks on the pillow case which looked like mould marks.
Review 136:When we arrived the lady at the desk was extremely welcoming. She showed us the way to our room and wished us a good stay. The room was spacious and well equipped with hairdryer, tea coffee and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was good with lots to choose from.
Review 137:They had overbooked and gave us two rooms with sharing bathroom. Both rooms lacked cleaning and one had a number of cob webs. The worst part was a guest woke up full of bites from bed bugs and had to be treated at a pharmacy. We only paid for the breakfast.
The Fine Print
