Reviews for Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa
Review 1:Food was poor and not good value- up all night with the room above shouting- asked 4 times for someone to sort it out- rubbish night sleep
Review 2:Staff Friendly
Review 3:Arrived at 2 an room 158 was like artic heating was turned off too cold to take a shower as towel rail in bathroom did not work .Price at bar was a bit over the top
Review 4:Staff very helpful ,lovely surroundings .
Review 5:Nothing everything was good
Review 6:The hotel is its usual good self, the staff are second to none , young lady on reception could not have been more helpful and extremely well mannered made me feel really welcome thank you for that
Review 7:Our dining experience on New Years Day. We waited for 25 minutes to have our order taken. I had soup which was luke warm and quite tasteless. My daughter and son in law had the smoked salmon (very small portions) when they had finished the waitress then arrived at the table with the bread to accompany the salmon. We all ordered the steak pie apart from my granddaughter. We each had a slither of carrot, a small cube of turnip and a small spoonful of mash to accompany our steak pie. Some people might describe this as fine dining but to be honest my granddaughters chicken gougons would have been more appealing. My husband and I then ordered the cheese and biscuits which I might add were lovely but would have been better if the restaurant had not run out of our wine of choice (Pinot Gricio) so we had to make do with water. Unacceptable in a Hotel of this standard. I am very dissappointed that after relaying the problems we encountered to the staff at the reception when checking out, no one has bothered to follow our complaints up.
Review 8:Staff in all areas very helpful and courteous.
Review 9:Located near a big chemical plant, poor room views
Review 10:Friendly staff, excellent facilities (pool in particular), good food, easy access to Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow
Review 11:Room looked out onto a wall The fire alarm went off at 4am and no member of staff even spoke to anyone while we stood outside for 20 minutes The steam room was out of order Had to go to reception for phone signal
Review 12:Nice and Christmassy Clean throughout
Review 13:The food in the restaurant was terrible, everything was cold or overcooked and we waited for a longtime between courses. People left their rubbish next to the loungers in the spa, the steamroom wasn't working and you could hear other occupants in their rooms.
Review 14:The staff were very friendly and the spa was very relaxing.
Review 15:Room décor is old and dated Breakfast is extortionately priced Bar and waiting staff are poorly trained Bottle of beer served at the table with no glass Expensive bottle of red wine served in white wine glass, on complaint, told that there are no red wine glasses available
Review 16:Spa is very good
Review 17:Great staff and especially the reception who made an extra effort to help us. We had a wedding and on the Sunday before we travelled back they made everything really simple and accomodated us until the flight late afternoon.
Review 18:The room was in the 'lodge' which was separate from the main building. This was disappointing, I could hear my neighboring guest very clearly through the partitioned wall. And to use the gym/restaurant required going out in the rain to the main part of the Hotel.
Review 19:The staff and the food was very good.
Review 20:The room service charge is extreme, especially as i had to recall for cutlery and the jug of milk i had requested. This then made my meal cold having to wait for cutley to be delievered. As a lone female usually busy working in the evening i prefer to have room service.
Review 21:Clean friendly hotel with excellent facilities
Review 22:Unclean room, dusty, dead fly in the bath. Looked like it had been cleaned 4 weeks ago and left. Not overly bad but more expected from a 4 star hotel.
Review 23:Staff were great and the Restaurant
Review 24:Nothing not to like though was spider and cobwebs in room can't be help. Also door was a wee bit tricky to get into but managed.
Review 25:The staff was friendly, the food was great. Will be returning again to take advantage of the spa.
Review 26:The service in the restaurant was appalling - after two hours had only completed hour main course. Also during the meal was forced to sit next to a table with dirty dishes - no attempt to clear for over one and a half hours.
Review 27:Nothing outstanding - poor value for money.
Review 28:Hotel rooms are very tired, desperate for new furnishings and decor
Review 29:Location is convenient for main road structure. Staff are superb, very friendly and welcoming.
Review 30:The smell in the room but that's probably because the carpet was sodden wet through and that isn't an exaggeration!!!! The view out of the window- a weedy chimney I actually thought we were in the staff accommodation!!! We couldn't be moved as they were fully booked!!!' They put towels down which also became soaking wet through!!! Obviously the radiator was leaking and had been for quite some time!!! All they offered us for our inconvenience was a drink!!!!!!! Last but not least the breakfast was stone cold!!!
Review 31:The outside of the building!!!!
Review 32:Over priced for a shabby tired hotel. Complained on first night and the next morning but no one had the decency to contact me including the manager who I eventually saw on checking out because I asked to see him and he turned out to be a complete amateur.
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:The bed was totally knackered and that's putting it lightly and it took some effort to get that over to the desk staff. The room they moved us to adjoined Paddington Station, well it sounded like it.
Review 35:The food was good
Review 36:The restaurant service was poor and everything was over priced from the room rate to the food and drink.
Review 37:The leisure facilities were good, as were the reception staff.
Review 38:Toilet was filthy, grout and general condition of bathroom was poor. Food, although tasted good was expensive and little choice if you didn't like steak!
Review 39:Lovely looking hotel very well placed. Spacious room. Good pool etc.
Review 40:The so-called steak restaurant produced cold over-cooked cardboard thin steak and delivered an hour after sitting down. The restaurant was busy but no excuse for poor quality and cold.
Review 41:Comfortable room and remarkably for Most hotels had hot water in the shower !
Review 42:Bathroom basin drain was so slow and did not drain for at least an hour, in addition to no hot water first thing in the morning.
Review 43:I arrived on the Sunday evening and took and evening meal. I was somewhat alarmed to the service and length of time to get served. To top it off I had to change my order as the requested dish was not available.
Review 44:Most uncomfortable bed and very noisy and squeaky therefore couldnt sleep. Tv not working. Cups for tea are tiny. And your only provided with enough to make 1cup each. So disapointing. Was in rm 102 nxt to reception so could hear everything going on at reception. Couldnt even put tv on to drown out the noise as tv wasnt working. Ate in the steakhouse food was average but expensive. Will not return.
Review 45:Beautiful grounds and exterior of hotel
Review 46:Wifi didn't work in room. Bath too high to get in out shower. Fried breakfast very poor - dry black pudding, chewey bacon. Could not understand breakfast staff - foreign accents. Not told about tea facilities hidden in room
Review 47:Bed comfy , spa , pool
Review 48:Having to leave to come home !!!
Review 49:Everything! Staff where friendly and efficient. The lady looking after us in The Steak Club ( think her name was Alison ) deserves a special mention for her excellent customer service. The Spa staff where also amazing. I could go on but I would be here forever. Returning as soon as possible .
Review 50:Overcharged - a fee for paying by debit card (?) and a donation to their charity, neither of which we were informed of.
Review 51:Good Breakfast. Useful location.
Review 52:Not really a bad experience but if you want to walk to shops and restaurants, it is too far out of a town. It is a great central location to explore the area
Review 53:Excellent staff, very spacious and comfortable room. Good wifi
Review 54:Hotels I in Edinburgh and Perth Much more satisfactory food wise
Review 55:Excellent hotel however food very over priced 26 pounds for a breakfast any 5 star hotel in Canada would have charged $ 15 for It was not even as good as the Ethorp hotel we stayed in Gerrards Cross Nr London but was Twice the price Sorry typed this in the wrong column
Review 56:The pillows on the beds... They were soft, but flat and provided no support. Other than that...everything was perfect!
Review 57:We really enjoyed the staff...very welcoming and attentive! The free breakfast was by far the best breakfast we have ever had at any hotel or B&B we have stayed at.
Review 58:Pillows were very uncomfortable. Breakfast service was not great and drinks and Toast didnt turn up without asking again. Rooms are a bit tired.
Review 59:Bar and Restaurant
Review 60:Hotels have to realise that business people want fast high speed internet after changing rooms because of no signal- was still not fast enough to work- this may be OK for wedding and weekend guests but let the hotel down badly if on business
Review 61:Not much
Review 62:Restaurant is a little expensive. No draught beers available so had to but bottled beers at nigh prices.
Review 63:Excellent staff and standard of room furnishings, including bed. Very good breakfast.
Review 64:People shouting at 2/4 o'clock in the morning. A fight was going on in the room above or next door . Very bad nights sleep after traveling for 10 hours will be writing a letter of complaint to there head office.
Review 65:I don't drive, so the location wasn't perfect for me!
Review 66:Use of pool and features inclusive. The staff went above and beyond with anything I asked from them
Review 67:There was a lot of noise late at night on our first night due to a wedding party. They probably were responsible for the fire alarm going off at midnight and everyone having to evacuate the hotel. That is not the fault of the hotel just guests being drunk.
Review 68:The staff were wonderfull, the spa was first class and the food was perfect.
Review 69:View from room was stony passage. Room looked a bit old fashioned. Corridor had strange smell. Bad soundproofing.
Review 70:Very convenient for athletics stadium
Review 71:we arrived at midnight - no one to greet us - we had to call the night porter but what was most worrying was the doors are unlocked and there is no one to stop you roaming around the hotel. We found hair on our supposed clearn sheets. Our rooms were on the ground floor which faced a courtyard and offices which was looked into so you could not actually open your curtains and let light in until you were fully dressed..windows needs blinds or curtains. on our coffee tray on the first night we got complimentary buscuits and thereafer not!!!! room service I felt was too expensive for what it was and on top there was additional tray charge. the cooked food was also a hit and miss - one of the days my sausages were not cooked. the steak restaurant food was ok but very small portions for what you are being charged and on top there was hair in my food - only noticed after I had finished.
Review 72:clean poor and sauna
Review 73:Scottish Steak Club - Rib Eye great but wife's Sirloin tough. Mentioned at end but told we should have said earlier. Didn't spoil our stay!
Review 74:Trainee receptionist James very helpful with extra night and upgrade for both nights. Spa fantastic.
Review 75:The credit card fee exorbitant when no indication on your website to say credit card fee applied though I used my credit card to guarantee the booking with you.
Review 76:Breakfast was good and the location very nice. Spar would be nice if I had time to use.
Review 77:Went to bar eventually got served no one behind the bar all be that it was near 10 .45 pm when I checked in and the lad serving said I could not have a coffee as the machine was just cleaned he did however offer me a filter coffee not what I wanted maybe I was just tired mind you it does not come cheap to stay here
Review 78:Clean nice staff on arival in all honesty not a patch on the tickled trout Preston sister hotel
Review 79:Our room was small and suitable only for a chauffeur, with a small window looking out over back walls. Following complaint, staff did move us to a nicer ground floor room looking into a hedge. At dinner, the bar and dining room appeared to be half full, but the maitre d' showed us to a small table in a dark corner, near the kitchen. Breakfast was so expensive we went elsewhere.
Review 80:One young trainee overheard us talking when we aligthed at the stattion about a mile and ahalof from the hotel, and kindly offered to lead us to the hotel, saying that was here he worked. He could not have been more helpful, and we could not have found it on our own, as the trail led through lanes, paths, and churchyards.
Review 81:Room carpet heavily stained and room looked in need if updating. Picture in booking. Com attracted me to hotel. But our room was nothing like it
Review 82:Easy to book a table for good
Review 83:wouldnt say I didn't like it, but the rooms could be doing with a little re-vamp. Spotless clean which was good.
Review 84:service, food, spa, atmosphere, cocktails all fabulous.
Review 85:There was nothing to mar our visit.
Review 86:The hotel was well maintained and well furnished. The log fire was an added plus! We had a room that overlooked the loch and we could clearly see Scheihalion. The room was comfortable and warm. The welcome was warm and friendly, the staff pleasant and helpful, the food was excellent and the weather was kind! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Review 87:Ridiculously slow service at the restaurant (15 minutes before our order was taken, not even a drink) The shower was temperamental but that's not out of place in any hotel but the ubend fell off the sink...easily fixed but not expected Just no wow factor
Review 88:The reception staff were really Room was a nice size, comfortable bed. Breakfast was nice
Review 89:Nothing, the whole stay was perfect!
Review 90:The hotel restaurant is gorgeous with excellent food. When we arrived we'd had a very long day and joked when a lady was delivering a bottle of wine and fruit to a room that it must be for us. Only 10 minutes after being in the room two complimentary glasses of sparkling wine were delivered with nibbles, how fantastic and unexpected was that. Really thoughtful and a nice touch, and unheard of nowadays!!
Review 91:There was nothing that we didn't like.
Review 92:Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent facilities. Nice bar and restaurant, serving a wide variety of good food and drinks.
Review 93:Stayed for 2 nights ggreat facilities used the pool, sauna and also booked in for a massage. staff were very friendly and it was a short distance in the car to the falkirk centre
Review 94:The bathroom needed updating, cracks in the sink and the bath tap broken
Review 95:The service was excellent from all staff members. Great choice at breakfast, restaurant food superb
Review 96:The welcome when we arrived. The service in the restaurant in the evening was very very bad. The bedroom looked clean but on closer inspection was not really very clean.
Review 97:Breakfast
Review 98:1. We had to sign in to the free wi-fi on every device every day ! 2. The plumbing was old and in urgent need of repair. The boiler broke down, leaving no hot water for 36 hours, and the sink drainage was very poor. The taps were hard to turn on and off, leading nearly to flooding the bathroom. 3. Our room faced a derelict building, and the one I used for a hot shower faced a brick wall. The rooms were not worth £164 per night ex VAT. 4. The table lamp was faulty. When replaced, it would only work if the main ceiling lights were switched on !!! 5. The croissants were over-cooked, and even burnt. They were still served at breakfast ! 6. We had to ask for bathroom accessories [soap and shampoo] 3 times, and even for loo paper which had run out. 7. The evening meals were haute cuisine and high quality dining, except the portions were small, and the meal greatly over-priced.
Review 99:1. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful. 2. When requested, fresh milk was provided to the room for teas and coffees.
Review 100:No soap in room bathroom, £3 charge for payment with a credit card, wifi in my room was about as useless as a chocolate teapot.
Review 101:Breakfast was cooked to order.
Review 102:We booked two rooms and in the morning we found out that the single room was large and airy where the double was small and cramped. As I'm 6'-2" my feet were hanging over the end of the bed so disappointing.
Review 103:The staff's friendliness and willingness to discuss how nice the hotel and area the hotel is sited. The evening meal and breakfast were both excellent and I would certainly stay hear again.
Review 104:Not a bad experienc but when I gave my card details to booking.com I thought they had taken payment so I was very confused to be asked to pay on leaving the hotel - booking.com need to be clearer about this
Review 105:The facilities
Review 106:Charging for credit card. Work it out with your provider not your customer. I spend 4 nights a week in hotels & you are the only one that do this
Review 107:Double bed was more like a big single( not good for 2 adults) room and bathroom very dated, tiles needed re grouting, wasn't happy at all with the accomodation
Review 108:Breakfast was very good staff were very pleasant and freindly
Review 109:Restaurant food was terrible. We'd stay at the hotel again but will not eat in the restaurant. Oven chips and overdone steaks! Honestly, 2015 and no minibar!
Review 110:The rooms were very comfortable
Review 111:Hotel near Grangemouth chemical industrial estate. Could see from bedroom burning fire coming out through big chimneys and not please t smells in the air. No jacuzzi. At dinner time had to wait for 45 minutes to get our drinks to be served. Some staff was ignorant when asked when our drinks are coming.
Review 112:Great spa area and restaurant. New modern design, clean and well maintained. Great food at dinner and breakfast.
Review 113:Pillows rubbish soft and old, towels changed but only for one person instead of too The bar and eating area was rubbish there appears to be no one managing the staff, you wanted half an hour before you get your drinks which you have asked for 3 times. Given wrong food and waiting for ages very disappointed. I would not class this hotel as a four star rooms are ok small, poor view and nothing special. It is the lack the attention to detail and the staff was not attentive.
Review 114:Service for our evening meal was shocking . Didnt have about 4 dishes on the menu which was dissapointing. Beware of hidden charges which are not clear even when paying by debit card.
Review 115:Couldnt fault the comfort and cleanliness of our room
Review 116:having to phone reception to find towels and coffee cups which Mr McDonald seems to great please in hiding away. Waiting 80 Minutes for breakfast to be served.
Review 117:Spa and Pool and Decor
Review 118:The place itself and the staff were brilliant. We have been in the past when we had dogs but now we don't have any but are considering getting some more and would like the hotel to start taking them again
Review 119:1)Teacup with no handle at breakfast ? 2)Boiled egg served in a bowl - told there were no clean eggcups ? 3) Overcharged by £3 for drinks in lounge bar ? Only there for two days !
Review 120:Not a Lot
Review 121:The staff were pleasant and willing but seemed inexperienced. A few nuisance level problems culminated in a real problem over a dinner reservation and a specific table request made the day before, and confirmed, to accommodate ourselves and some important guests. The result was a 60+ minute wait for an 8pm reservation. However, it is a nice hotel and we would stay again.
Review 122:Facilities, general upkeep.
Review 123:The staff in the dining room on the first night and at breakfast on our first two nights were lacking in training as nothing was ever offered and we had to ask for everything. This changed on the third morning when a different girl was on duty and certainly made the rest of the staff jump.Housekeeping needs a wake up also as they need to dust other parts of the room ap[atr from the tops.
Review 124:The leisure facilities were excellent and the staff in the centre were more than helpful.
Review 125:Restaurant was bit of a nightmare on second night. We were told it was busy but waiting in excess of an hour between starter and main course was unacceptable. Our 8 year old fell asleep at table the whole thing took so long. And the drinks that the people using the table before us had were added to our bill.
Review 126:Location and room
Review 127:Restaurant was chaotic. Waited an hour for main course to find veg cold. Had to send it back twice. Fish pie had no fish and no pie! Despetate Dan pie was so small I thought it was a joke. Did not bother with breakfast.
Review 128:Pool was nice.
Review 129:The location next to the giant petrochemical plant. It is rather isolated
Review 130:The friendly staff who made the stay really enjoyable. The first class meal served to both my wife and myself
Review 131:the kitchen struggled to fill Sunday lunch orders in a timely manner, though the food was very good when it arrived.
Review 132:good décor, and cheerful local staff
Review 133:Disappointing quality of food for 4* facility. Overpriced and mediocre! Cancelled dinner booking for our second night stay.
Review 134:Leisure facilities and friendly, helpful staff.
Review 135:The wifi was very poor in my room. Almost useless/
Review 136:A very good restaurant and menu, with helpful and attentive staff. The pool, steam room and sauna are very good and open late, until 10pm.
Review 137:The last room I had was in the annex to the main building. Although the bed was large and sumptuous, it essentially filled the room. This left no room for a comfy chair, with the only option being the bolt-upright chair at the desk. Sorry to be picky, but I don't like sitting on the bed.
Review 138:The hotel is excellent; probably the best in the area. I guess, recently, I have been spoilt by having a better room at a very good price.
Review 139:Through booking.com we had requested disabled facilities,a walk in shower room close to lift and twin beds. These requests had not been passed on to hotel and our stay was ruined. We left early.
Review 140:The breakfast and reception staff and quality of breakfast
Review 141:Added charges of approx £8 to bill. Charity and credit card fees which stank. I didn't pay bill but was a bit poor.
Review 142:In general hotel was very good, clean and well presented. Staff curteous and helpful. Facilities very clean. Will go back again.
Review 143:Out bathroom was clean but could have done with a refurb. The lampshade was ripped. These are small details however. I came for the spa and it was more than I hoped for
Review 144:The spa is absolutely incredible and if you plan on not leaving the hotel and just relaxing then I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The Fine Print
