Reviews for Citilodge
Review 1:the main light in the hotel room wasn't working I reported it and the second night it still wasn't working so I couldn't read .
Review 2:Very convenient town centre location near to station and shops and facilities . Pretty basic but good value.
Review 3:Our 3rd bed wasn't set up for our young son, I called reception and when she eventually came to our room, she stood at the door and we had to make up the bed ourself, poor service. At check in the receptionist was more interested in talking to her friend :(
Review 4:Booked last minute and suprises at how easy it was to find and in a good location to get into town centre. Room and facilities adequate for monies paid
Review 5:The staff on the front desk were very friendly- especially considering it was NYE/NYD and they were at work. The room was spacious and well maintained. The bed was comfortable.
Review 6:There's nothing that I didn't like if I'm honest. I loved everything!
Review 7:The staff were helpful and professional, i love it and the room was nice and clean just as it were described online.
Review 8:Staff were polite and helpful, additionally the hotel was clean and the breakfast in the morning was terrific. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
Review 9:Absolutely nothing, all was great!
Review 10:Fabulous stay, great price, top quality comfort... extremely helpful staff, Emily on the reception desk gave me all details I needed to know was very polite and helpful, even contacted my back to inform me that I'd accidentally put breakfasts on when my phone froze as I told her the price had gone up I wasn't sure why, she got straight back in touch and took those off for me, top night all in all, I think the young lady needs a raise or promotion! No complaints whatsoever!
Review 11:Could feel springs on bed. Very uncomfortible. Receptionist had no customer service skills found her very rude. Had to ask 3 times for a cot and when we got it we had to assemble it ourselfs. Did not feel welcome at all.
Review 12:Location -close to town.
Review 13:Great service from staff and room was lovely, king size bed with a comfy mattress bathroom was spotless. Couldn't have picked a better place to stay :) 10/10
Review 14:I will be staying at the hotel frequently as a student whose placement is in wakefield. I would not choose any other place. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly (Emily) :)
Review 15:Bed was really uncomfortable. Mattress had gone and needs urgent replacement - room 306.
Review 16:Receptionist was amazing, really polite and very helpful. She went out of her way to assist me in ordering a pizza and having it sent to the hotel.
Review 17:The fact your hotel wouldnt let us have three people per room even though when you search for 3 adults on booking.com the hotel shows up as available. Meaning we had to find another hotel for several friends last minute. Staff very unsympathetic.
Review 18:Very little
Review 19:Very noisy from other guests all night , doors banging and shouting in corridors wouldn't recommend staying with children or if you want a good nights sleep , more control needed in accepting group bookings !
Review 20:Good location great secure parking
Review 21:We didn't like beds and TV was so annoying . Even we could not turn it on whole night even though we followed the instructions. It happened all the time . We regularly visit city lodge(once a month). They must change their TV romote and beds .
Review 22:We liked location and service. Staff was so polite and helpful. Slecially night staff (Emily).
Review 23:The bed was like sleeping on a trampoline, the television didn't work half the time, no fan in the bathroom so it was always wet and muggy, the staff wouldn't let us check in early
Review 24:The location
Review 25:The floorboards in our room were just a bit creaky ?
Review 26:The staff were really happy & helpful and mafe our stay good fun. Also the tea supplied (-Teaoligy ) was to die for !! ?
Review 27:Room 220 view a brick wall opposite, Mattress very springy not firm, light along headboard would not turn off so kept waking up all night as felt like sunrise or daylight. Shower tray had a gap between tiles and tray with black fungus. Breakfast had only Bacon, Pork Sausages and scrambled egg. Cereal with milk and apple juice. As I am a Muslim could not eat 2 of the 3 hot items. Near the tea/coffee and cereal area there should have been a small dustbin to put all the small waste items into. Only one staff member overnight so difficult to deal with more than one customer problem at a time. On first floor it shows an arrow for reception however reception is one floor further down.
Review 28:Car parking, location to town, cleanness, quit and peaceful, staff friendly and helpful
Review 29:The room was extremely bare. Literally just a bed, TV, desk, chair and bathroom. It felt like a prison cell it was hard to be comfortable there. There was no full length mirror. The towels were dirty and there were no washcloths available as we asked at reception and they said they don't provide them. The TV remote didn't work and the buttons on the TV were hard to press as they were broken too.
Review 30:The bed was very comfortable. Some of the staff said hello when they were at the front desk (there was never usually anyone at the desk). It was mostly clean and spacious.
Review 31:There was nothing I didn't like
Review 32:Really enjoyed the still lovely rooms and grate for what I paid would love to stay again and the staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 33:The rooms very untidy and the bedroom could do with better DIY as the door was not proper secure and looked dangerous if kids were there.
Review 34:Customer service
Review 35:Breakfast was appalling, over cooked sausage, scrambled egg, then beans and few bits bacon . Warm orange juice, and milk that was on the turn? worth £5 each ..... deffo not.
Review 36:Female receptionist s were very friendly, Scottish male reception very nice too, room clean, comfortable ,free toiletries, free parking or £5 for lock up parking under hotel. Fab location for town.
Review 37:The fact the hotel is in the centre of Wakefield is a plus, the room was the right size, enough space to move whilst getting ready to visit a venue to watch a event.
Review 38:Music from the bar seeped into the bedroom ((2nd floor) as irritating bass & drums-not the melody
Review 39:efficiency of booking, simplicity of access and ease of staff contact. free wi-fi was a good surprise after some of your competitors practices
Review 40:We were unfortunate to go back to the hotel at night whilst there was a druggie woman outside, who had assaulted the receptionist. She was putting her hands all over me and we went into a nearby pub until the police arrived. It really shook me up and I didn't sdleep well. The second night was better.
Review 41:Near city centre
Review 42:Staff were useless, had to wait until 3pm to check in and were asked to approach desk individually so as not too get girl confused.Only 7 of us and we are mature adults not kids. When one of us asked reception for help she mocked him and laughed. Also asked us to stop talking whilst colleague was on their mobile behind reception ! Bed in my room and friends all sagged in he middle.
Review 43:Liked price and location and was clean.
Review 44:Having to stand up and point the TV remote over the top of the wall mounted TV to be able to change channel or the volume. The TV boxes need to be repositioned.
Review 45:Friendly staff. Convenient location,
Review 46:Tv didn't work, not first time had that problem. . Springs in the bed were digging in me all night.
Review 47:Location as it is in the hub of everything.close to pubs.
Review 48:I had no TV for the 2 days stay. Staff were unable to help . I was in Wakefield for my sisters funeral and to clear her flat and needed some respite in the evenings. Location near a rowdy pub so not happy to go out to eat. I believe I need a refund.
Review 49:Comfy clean room and nice lounge
Review 50:Very friendly & helpful at the reception, very clean & comfortable & good location for my night in Warehouse 23.Very good value for money & will stay there again.
Review 51:Uncomfortable bed/ fan in bathroom did not switch off (staff not prepared to look into this) / noisy doors/ breakfast area not clean.
Review 52:Safe parking
Review 53:Roads around have all changed so struggled to find on sat nab. Double room had musky smell.
Review 54:Central location for pubs and shopping Clean and basic. Good budget hotel Staff were fabulous and helped with directions and info
Review 55:The mattress was too bouncy and soft for me, felt like an old Travelodge mattress. The room was very warm, even with the window open all night long which can be an issue with the location because of traffic noise. The television is very small, the remote control didn't work very well and the volume level on the TV was terrible.
Review 56:Great location, all the city centre amenities are right around the corner. The hotel was very clean, especially the room. Bathroom is a decent size and the shower was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 57:tv remote not working staff said they would have rectified it if we had said but we were tootired to go downstairs after our long walk
Review 58:nice comfortable room
Review 59:They did not clean my room on two occasions of the four mornings. This makes 3 times at this hotel now. Housekeeping is shocking!
Review 60:Some staff are very good
Review 61:Air conditioning did not work on a night when it remained 28 degrees and humid. Window only opened a couple of inches resulting in a very uncomfortable night
Review 62:Location excellent, Staff Friendly, hotel clean and tidy.
Review 63:Hotel located in city centre in a very dodgy area with some very salubrious pubs and a radioactive around it. Very noisy until early hours and again from 5am onwards. Also felt very intimidated walking back to hotel after dinner. Room tired looking and NOT hoovered and very soft mattress gave us bad backs.
Review 64:Receptionist very friendly andhelpful
Review 65:Their were some very noisy people staying on the same floor and kept us awake during the night.
Review 66:The room was comfortable and the staff working during the day were veryffriendly and helpful.
Review 67:When the wifi failed, the manager told us a pack of lies about why. It was fixed eventually.
Review 68:Most (but not all) of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The main exception was the manager.
Review 69:Bathroom had a smell of drains when we first arrived and got woken up twice by people talking in the hall on the first night. There obviously isn't sound proofing.
Review 70:Lovely staff and good location. Cheap and cheerful place to sleep for a night or two.
Review 71:cheap thin springy mattress - a hard base costs nothing extra does it? TV was tiny and difficult to operate....skin on the breakfast scrambled eggs....
Review 72:.....but what do you expect for £40? I wasn't disappointed.
Review 73:Me and my girlfriend stayed and had a great stay but we was located on the top floor, the only problem was that it was extremely hot, no air con and the windows obviously had restictions
Review 74:Great value, clean and comfortable
Review 75:Having stayed here many times I have never had a problem. However, the most recent stay was not impressive. We stayed in room 108.. There were 2 blood stains on the shower curtain. The shower was also leaking which was annoying. Everything was rather creaky. Definitely not the best of our visits
Review 76:However the towels and bedding were clean and the room was warm which was comforting.
Review 77:The wifi is Incredibly Slow. I gave up in the end as I kept losing the connection.
Review 78:The staff were brilliant and really friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 79:We required a plug for the bath which we got but when we asked for an iron it had a continental plug on. The door was not child proof either.
Review 80:The staff were fantastic and very responsive to our requests.
Review 81:Wifi signal is so poor it is unusable. Cheek to claim free wifi. Not very consistent with room making up. In fact today the didn't make it up at all!
Review 82:Price and location
Review 83:Didn't like that there was no hairdryer in the room or air con and if no one was at the front desk their wasn't a bell you could ring to get anybody.
Review 84:I liked that the hotel was in the middle of town so you had easy access to transport and local facilities, room was value for money as i was only staying one night.
Review 85:The van in the bathroom was constantly on even with the door shut we could hear it. The bathroom smelt despite being clean, don't know if this was the fan or poor drainage. Room got too warm even with our window open so we struggled to sleep. Checked out by 8 am as we had had enough.
Review 86:We arrived at 3pm to check in and were sent to a room 201. The roomwasn't made there was no bedding on the bed, clean towels were onthe dirty floor. We went to reception and were told they had forgottento make the bed but the room had been cleaned. The carpet was filthy andlater that night I noticed phlem in the sink with hairs on it. The roomhadnt been cleaned!! The room we had was right outside the main door andstairs so had a total of 3 hours sleep given the room shook eveytimesomeone came in. We paid for breakfast £5 each and came down at 9.30 toa very disgruntled restaurant where guests were sitting with no food asthere was nothing left bar cold egg and 3 pices of bacon. Saying theyhad piled their plates high and left nothing for other guests. Yet thesame hen party followed us to wetherspoons to buy breakfast. The managerblamed a hen party The assiant manager had an awful attitude Iunderstand people complaing isnt nice but its your job to try and putthat right not have an attitude and raise your voice at guests we had toleave and go buy breakfast. When I brought up the issues with themanager his attitude was also disgusting and I had to prompt him toapologise. After I showed him pictures of the room he agreed to refundthe cost of breakfast. Wouldnt recommed this hotel to anyone. My Advicewould be pay a little more and stay elsewhere or you will bedisapointed!
Review 87:The hotel looks lovely when you arrive and it is close to shops andbars.

Review 90:Floor in room squeaks quite loud
Review 91:Good off street secure parking Nicely decorated rooms Decent shower / water pressure Very clean / Well maintained rooms.
Review 92:No complaints at all.
Review 93:Nice location on a quiet street in town centre, very close to bars, shops and Cathedral. Spacious room, clean, pleasant decor and nice bathroom.
Review 94:there was no air conditioning in the room which meant a lack of sleep and the shower was fairly dirty.
Review 95:the staff were absolutely amazing and unbeliveably helpful
Review 96:Remote control AWOL. No shower cap. I asked for a quiet room but got one on the noisy side (odd numbers) facing a busy road, although probably becasue I booked a family room on offer and the extra space was worth the noise.
Review 97:Central location and although basic it was very good value at the mid week offer price of £42 for a spacious family room. Nice towels and linen and no nasty plastic matress protector. Illuminated mirrors in bedroom and bathroom and good water pressure with hot water.
Review 98:It's just a walk into town nice friendly staff easy to get on with an very helpful we've stayed here loads of times wouldn't pick a different hotel to stay in Wakefield
Review 99:The mattress was so soft it felt like I was going to touch the floor. The bed creaked a lot. The shower was dirty.
Review 100:The staff were very friendly and the entrance and downstairs were very clean and bright.
Review 101:Rudely awoken at 11:15pm by a staf member banging on the door asking if we were smoking as someone on thr same floor was. We were in a deep sleep and had work at 7am. Doubt I will use this place again. I emailed a complaint in twice and they have not bothered to get back to me
Review 102:Price

Review 110:Two rooms booked TV didn't work in both rooms on request one room movedstaff couldn't get TV working.
Review 111:Good central hotel value for money good staff very friendly
Review 112:Staff was rude on arrival as didn't look up from computer for over 3 minutes to even say "I'll be with you in a minute" and bed was aweful. Very poor matress and sheets. Felt every spring. So didn't even stay the night.
Review 113:Nothing
Review 114:Nothing everything was perfect
Review 115:It's a fantastic place to stay the staff are really friendly couldn't as for more from a hotel my stay couldn't of been better thank you I was in room 304 I uses a electric wheelchair and the room was amazing for my chair
Review 116:I felt that slight maintenance repairs are required to blinds radiators and toilet noises. These are related to different rooms we have stayed in. Not that we wouldnt recomend your stay.
Review 117:Ideal for the purpose. Parking allways a space. We have been before and will go again.
Review 118:On first night We were wakened at 3.30 by the Wakefield Revellers who proceeded to bang doors and shout to each other in the corridor till 5 am. Second night the fire alarm went off at 1.30 and we were evacuated onto the pavement for about 20 minutes until it was established that it was a false alarm!!!
Review 119:Location was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful and car parking excellent for a city centre location.
Review 120:Nothing to fault :-)
Review 121:This hotel is a great all rounder! No faults at all :-) great location, clean & tidy & also the staff were always on hand, dave in particulary made us feel very welcome! I have stayed here numerous of times now as theres no need to stay else where when everything is spot on at citilodge, thanks again for our comfortable stay.....katy & william
Review 122:Great location, cheap stay but very clean for what you pay, great staff, cannot fault this hotel, stayed every weekend for the last month, brilliant hotel :-)
Review 123:No public phone, Not everyone has a mobile phone. But would stay there again. It is in the town centre so easy to get to everything.
Review 124:The welcome is always good and I found the food excellent.
Review 125:- The TV didn't work - It had a spring mattress that needed replacing so a spring was stuck in my back all night - The floors were squeaky - The lighting was confusing - couldn't get the uplighter above the bed to turn off. Somehow, I managed it, but then couldn't get it on in the morning - It had a black out blind and curtains. Since I was on the first floor, it would have nice to be able to have some privacy without being shut in total darkness
Review 126:Location of the hotel was close to where I needed to be
Review 127:Bed-side reading light broken. TV only worked intermittently
Review 128:Value for money stay. Welcoming staff. Car park facility good. Very reasonable priced breakfast.
Review 129:Booked on line and then had to cancel giving at least a month's notice but was told I couldn't get a refund. Even tried saying if the room is rebooked could I then have a partial refund. No
Review 130:the help the staff gave me for my first stay in Wakefield , printing of my boarding pass, advise on getting around , safe storage of luggage, wifi, cooked breakfast, value for money, clean, warm
Review 131:The staff where lovely but didn't tell us anything about the free wifi so we were unable to connect and the tv in the room didn't work, you shouldn't advertise a TV if all that's on it is a fuzzy screen!
Review 132:The hotel itself was super clean and the facilities in the room were great, the bed was very comfy and loved that we didn't have to check out until 12 noon, meant a great lie in for us both, just what you want when you are away.
Review 133:Bed was AWFUL! Dipped in the middle as if it was broken. Didn't have a good night's sleep and the noise coming through the closed window from the road was quite annoying.
Review 134:Friendly staff, secure parking and clean.
Review 135:Free Wifi is good but signal strength is weak, forever buffering. I've stayed here for the past 5 weeks and been awoken almost every night by guests returning from having been drinking in the town. This is between 12 til 4:30. Not good if your up for work at 6:00. The carpets are filthy in every room I've stayed in.
Review 136:Location is good. Modern looking room.
