Reviews for Astral Lodge

Review 1:Nothing to dislike. Very suitable property for my stay.

Review 2:Very clean, modern bedroom and shower room.Included tv and tea/coffee facilities in room. Very helpful reception staff, when enquiring about parking options.

Review 3:didnt really affect me as only stayed one night but lack of hanging space problem if staying longer for the room I stayed in

Review 4:easy check in and great location

Review 5:Could not leave luggage when we arrived as nobody around until 4pm so had to lug suitcases around Hastings all day. At 5pm when we checked in one room still had dirty bedding, cup and towel and unemptied bin and the other was not made up. Walls are very thin and was woken at 4 am by person stomping up the stairs and walking about in room above.

Review 6:Location was excellent.

Review 7:No lift to the top floor. No mirror in the room.Very basic very clean.A fantastic sea view .value for money you only get what you pay for.

Review 8:Hotel very clean.

Review 9:Check-out was 11 a.m. The door to my room was opened just before 9 a.m. by a staff member - a quick knock at the door and the key unlocked the door (one would think they would know I was staying there). I was surprised to say the least. About 15 minutes later housekeeping was at the door. I was wanting a relaxing morning having a cup of tea and reading my book before checking out - instead I got unnecessary interruptions which didn't make it relaxing for me at all. There wasn't even a 'do not disturb' sign for the door! When a guest pays for a room one expects not to be interrupted and to be able to enjoy the time they are staying at the accommodation - particularly at that time of the morning!!

Review 10:I liked the location of the property. It was central and easy to get to the city centre.

Review 11:There was poor drainage of shower room and toilet didn't flush properly.

Review 12:The location is good enough to go around the new/old town and sea side. Our room is very simple and not large but it's clean.

Review 13:Rooms very cramped. Large bed upstairs in loft not suitable for my parents. Family room very cramped. They have tried to cram to many rooms into a small space. Would not stay again. Everything could have done with a coat if paint

Review 14:Top floor. Lots of stairs for a family room.

Review 15:Great location, fantastic sea view. Very clean and comfortable. Basic room only accommodation but would definitely use again.

Review 16:There wasn't any toilet paper in the bathroom so had to get my own;just one towel, instead of two;tea bags didn't get replaced as i used them so the next day day I had to make a coffee,it would have been nice to have a couple of biscuits to go with the hot drink;lack of popular TV channels,I would have loved to be able to watch BBC or ITV for news and weather forecast, temperamental Internet

Review 17:Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, water in shower as hot as you like;I liked the underground car park and being able to leave my car till 11.00am

Review 18:The beds were very creaky and the window didn't shut properly (which wasn't really a problem as it was too hot anyway. I woke in the middle of the night sweating hot, I don't know if it was just muggy, but there seemed to be no air, I had to check the radiators were not on. The toilet in my sisters room (the family room) didn't flush properly.

Review 19:It was basic and one of the cheaper places to stay.

Review 20:The rooms had been done up very cheaply, the beds were not satisfactory for adults or older kids, in my opinion you couldn't class this as a family room. Pillows and quilts flat and lifeless. Yes there were four beds but only suitable for kids. The step in the bathroom and lack of space made it dangerous and chlostrophobic, the boards creaked terribly in the bathroom area too. Failure to have anywhere to leave your bags prior to the 4pm check in was a pain, no-one on reception when we arrived, just a voice on the end of an intercom asking us to come back. Busy road outside meant traffic noise. Wifi didn't work in the top rooms and no lift?!

Review 21:The location and ease of parking, the sea view.

Review 22:Hot room in summer. No air/con and shared balcony

Review 23:double bed on mezanine floor and single bed downstairs worked well in a small room with three of us. Bed comfy. Excellent wifi. Freeunderground parking. Sea view. Excellend location for Hastings centre

Review 24:Beds very uncomfortable, bunk beds for kids need to change because one bed was in very bad conditions, bathroom stink, no wardrobe in room

Review 25:ocation and viewsfrom balcony and staff friendly

Review 26:Claustrophobic room with no window(roof light only) and no sound insulation to adjacent room. This and the din from seagulls on the roof from 5am meant little sleep..

Review 27:Friendly reception. Clean room & new bathroom facilities. Good location on sea front.

Review 28:There was no where to ur your clothes including no wardrobe. The room was very basic with single beds for a family room instead of a double bed. The lady in reception couldn't understand much English. No breakfast provided.

Review 29:It was clean and tidy and close to everything including the beach and town centre.

Review 30:Some bits of the room was tacky, radiator needed to be cleaned, so did the blinds.

Review 31:Nice cheap hotel for family with sea view (room 5) have 2 Adults and 4 young children . For the price can't complain. Situated next to other hotels which either don't accommodate family of 6 or are a bit more expensive. Shops are all close by, can easy get breakfast outside.

Review 32:Nice Lodge. Great location. Very, very near the centre of the City and the ocean. We had a Family room - and perhaps we would have liked more chairs to sit in and more space. But overall ok

Review 33:High cost for small room, uncomfortable single beds, very small TV, noise from the street no air conditioning no fans, no breakfast

Review 34:Changed my room form the 3rd floor to the second for easier access

Review 35:Wifi didn't quite work at the top of the building but that's ok. Hastings first time visit, awesome lovely town, great hotel.

Review 36:They got me a room, top floor but great view. Cute receptionist :-)

Review 37:I came with my stuff and was in hurry the owner told me that he can't sight me in because he wasn't in the hotel! He made me wait outside for 3 hours! I wouldn't complain if it would be only me, but another family (with small children) came and he made them wait outside as well! When I was checking out a lady charged me because she needed to leave and close the hotel! Staff is so rude and impolite so disappointed! Just aiming that they will improve!! Stayed very disappointed aboutAstral Lodge Hotel !!!!! P.S maybe they have their rools, however no one can control the train line! No one knows if the train will be on time, delayed or earlier!! Owner should be always there to welcome his customers! Never saw such a poor customer service! Sorry for writing too much.

Review 38:Room was quit cosy!

Review 39:Budget hotel, in a prime seafront location. Décor was good, it looked like the Hotel had recently been refurbished, the best bit was the comfort of the single beds - they were excellent. Bathroom was all new too - very good value for money

Review 40:Room was quite small for 3 with very little storage space. New owners are hoping to offer breakfast soon they said.

Review 41:Room had sea view with balcony, clean and reasonably comfortable

Review 42:Got off to a bad start after I called en route (train journey) to ask ifwe could drop our bags off at 11am before we check in and was told yesonly to be called back and be told it wasn't possible and it wouldbe 3pm, so we had to hump our luggage around the town for 4 hours. Webooked a family room £75 per night (they don't serve breakfast),location was lovely right on the sea front and the room came with freewi fi, that's where the compliments end.... The room was a glorifiedbackpackers room (at best), although on 2 floors you couldn't swinga cat, the bathroom had a urine odour, the lock on the balcony door wasbroken, the furniture looked like it had just been delivered fromPoundstretcher (I kid you not) and instead of a wardrobe we had aclothes rack (again probably from Poundstretcher)... Our bedside lampresembled Terry Wogan's microphone from Blankety Blank and theblinds were stained....I run a pub, have previously managed hotels and I can honestly say that my previous hotels staff accommodation was better... The pictures online of the rooms looked quite nice hence why we booked here, maybe the other ones are, but if you do book here stay away from Room 4 as it is awful...

Review 43:Location Free Wifi

Review 44:The advertised there will be Wifi in the room but sadly there's not. Through out our stay, our room hasn't been cleaned properly. The bunk bed was a bit noisy. The staffs weren't really friendly, but I will give them a thump up for their effort.

Review 45:The room was spacious enough for a family of 4, we got the view of the beach which were *breath talking* when it's twilight and sunrise. The hotel location was also a plus, easy to get to town center and local restaurants, as well as train station. Ideal for a weekend away with family.

Review 46:There is supposedly free wifi but unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. The booking is for a room only and you have to go out for breakfast but the White Rock Hotel serves breakfast and is less than 5 minutes walk away.

Review 47:Very convenient for the town centre and located on the sea front. I slept really well and the ensuite bathroom was clean. The facilities included a television and tea and coffee making facilities. Good value for money.

Review 48:No TV in room on arrival, no wifi all weekend, no curtains, radiators couldn't be turned off, no complaint taken seriously or procedure. Expensive at £200 for two nights. Total rip off! Avoid!!! Camping would have been preferrable than staying here.

Review 49:Nice sea view

Review 50:The wakls were hear through, so was the ceiling. This looked to be a recent conversion with a layout that hadn't been quite thought through. A "wardrobe" without doors and no hanging rail or doors jammed between the wall and the foot of the bed with a TV stuck on top that uou had to crane your neck to see. In the admittedly very clean and nicely finished bathroom a washstand was nearly at knee level with a glash shelf above sticking out and preventing proper access to sink - I slid the shelf out and put it on the floor for my stay and pointed tjis particular fault out to the staff (brought them yo thr room) in the morning) before checking out.

Review 51:Pleasant staff and a clean room with a comfy bed. Ok for the price

Review 52:No lift for carrying suitcases up stairs.

Review 53:Cooperative assistance in being let in early, giving details of parking options and the availability of parking vouchers to assist in parking costs.

Review 54:The only thing was, was that there was no breakfast provided, which being advertised as a B&B, i would have thought that tis would have been provided.

Review 55:Thin walls meant that I was disturbed on arrival by loud dance music coming from the guest in the next room. Although site said that there was luggage storage facilities this wasn't the case on enquiring during my stay. Check out is at 11.00am and the receptionist knocked on my door at 11.05am as I was about to leave. I felt rather rushed and that my custom was not appreciated. Not accessible for disabled people. Had to request a second bath towel. Hotel possibly mainly used for students and DSS placements.

Review 56:Clean room and free wifi connection.

Review 57:No lights or lit up signs outside the building making it really difficult to find in the evening. When I finally got there at 7pm. and checked in, the reception seemed to leave in a hurry with an empty desk.

Review 58:Room facing the seafront.

Review 59:The blinds were past their best but once opened we had sea views.

Review 60:Great value and location with superb sea views. Ideal for our theatre trip. Spacious room 2 bunks and a mezzanine with 2 singles, everything we needed.

Review 61:there was not enough coffee put in the room and there was no hand towel but the only thing is you can't get more tea or coffee as the reception was closed from 8pm and when I went to check out at half 9 there still was no reception staff

Review 62:the hotel is brilliant even though there no food you have loads of place to eat and is a nice quiet place

Review 63:location is spot on central to everything you need clean rooms comfy beds no breakfast but near enough to some great little places so not a problem at all

Review 64:The only one complaint I had was that it was too warm in the room, even with the heating off. An option to Borrow a fan from Reception would have Been a great option.

Review 65:Loved everything from the location to the clean and very reasonable price room at Astrsl lodge. Have been telling everyone and I will Def be back for longer. Thanks to all please.

Review 66:Single room that looked out onto an alley. Disturbed every morning at 6am by clanging of crockery from next door hotel preparing for breakfast. At night time disturbed by the parties of german students staying making loud noise when returning. Also draught from room next door window being open was like an icy blast into the room. Shower door opened outwards so when shower switched on water went all over the floor and door when closed did not fit properly so water flooded floor when showering. Handle inside shower door peeling metal paint and ended up cutting myself on shards of metal. Couldnt wait to finish my work contract and go home!

Review 67:Double bed on mezzanine but chairs, tv and tea facilities on floor level as is shower room. Have to move furniture to use balcony. No ventilation unless balcony door open and didn't feel safe to leave open as shared balcony and overlooks street. Kettle table badly placed below TV. Plaster board cheaply finished. Had far better rooms for less. Unlikely to book again at this price.

Review 68:The mezzanine level made good use of the space. Nice to have a balcony over looking beach. Everything spotless. Good supply of tea and soap and shower gel provided. Towels and bedding good condition but basic.

Review 69:Just about clean, need to bleach that grout in the shower! Very mean providing just two tea bags and no coffee. Stairwell carpet not fitted securely. A lot of money for just a room and no breakfast really but adequate for an overnight stay. Only one reading lamp and that was by the single bed.

Review 70:Very friendly desk staff. Comfortable bed. Quirky room.

Review 71:Little noisy but in centre of town its really to be expected

Review 72:Rebbecca is a dream receptionist nothing is too much trouble and delivered with a smile ..fabulous customer service for such a young employee well done Rebecca

Review 73:The room had stairs to go onto a floor within it. The upstairs area was too low for an adult to stand up without hitting one's head, and letting a child sleep upstairs is also dangerous as they might fall down when going to toilet in the night. Very odd!

Review 74:Location and cleanliness were excellent. Parking was good too in that there was free underground parking for the length of the stay.

Review 75:The music from a nearby disco, but it wasn't too loud, also the pigeons, worst were the pigeons outside my window on the roof.

Review 76:The staff attention was very good, as I arrive after they went home, I was given code to get in and my key was there waiting for me. Also the next day they were very helpful

Review 77:we got a small twin room on the fourth floor and no lift. There was only one small bottle of shower gel for two people; had to go down to ask at reception (no phone in the room) they had none there and we were told they would bring some but it never happened! Also, reception isn't open 24 hours/day.

Review 78:the location is great - on the sea front and 5 mins away from all the seafront attractions and close to the castle too.

Review 79:We were not pre warned that we could only leave luggage for an hour after checkout. We had a train at 3.15pm, which meant we had to drag our luggage around Hastings for four hours. Really spoiled an otherwise perfect stay.

Review 80:They found us a double room at the last minute, with a sea view. This was perfect and really appreciated as it was our wedding anniversary.

Review 81:like a hostel. not really a family room tiny with a floor above with double bed bathroom smelt 2 towels for 3 people sign on B&B said free parking between 4pm and 11am and it wasnt.

Review 82:location

Review 83:Note that there are several flights of stairs to negotiate so bear this in mind with luggage. The room was basic, and the beds were metal framed cheap beds. We booked as a family of 5 but had a bunk bed and two single beds pushed together which prevented my daughter from snuggling in the middle so my husband had to bunk in with the boys.

Review 84:Reception was friendly, check in smooth. We had a family room on the top floor. The location is perfect, right on the seafront, and our room overlooked the sea. It is a short walk to the old town and there is a great little park on the promenade for the children to let off some steam. We were able to park outside the hotel so am not sure what the other carpark facilities are like. Although not ideal sleeping arrangements, the hotel although a bit tired in the stairwells, is clean, fairly comfortable and in a great location. Perfect for our stopover.

Review 85:I didn't like anything about this building. It felt unsafe, there is nowhere to run if fire broke out. Nothing nice about this place, would never stay again, and would never recommend.

Review 86:I would have liked a blackout blind on the window. The reception desk was usually unmanned The toilet/shower was small

Review 87:The hotel is in an excellent seafront location within walking distance of town centre. The room was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and there was a television and ample electrical sockets for recharging phones/cameras etc. There was plenty of storage space for clothes.

Review 88:No lifts as was at the top of the building - 4 flights Receptionist gave incorrect info about parking - so incurred a parking ticket Not value for money - £65.00 is a lot for a twin room. No mirror on the wall, no telephone

Review 89:The beds were comfortable.

Review 90:- No stairs. - No facility for food. - Reception closes at 8pm. You are on your own after that. - Reached hotel a bit earlier, they did not allow us in the hotel. had to spend 1.5 hours outside. Should have waiting area facility. - It was a little noisy during night. - No shampoo/soap for the first night and had to ask for it.

Review 91:- Location is good. Just in front of beach. - Value for money.

Review 92:The room I was in only had a roof window and that didn't open that much and had a big group staying there so the noise was bad and when checked in there was only 2coffee in my room when I asked for more I got told to go back in a hour and when I asked for another pillow got told don't have any

Review 93:It was very good and staff was polite and friendly

Review 94:I stayed in a twin room with sea view. The room was good, clean, rather small but with all the amenities necessary for a short stay. And that's what I would recommend the place for. It is not a place where you stay in for relaxation but for spending the night. Without breakfast or bar it is just a reasonable accommodation for reasonable monies.

Review 95:Room was unbearably hot with the smallest window facing another wall so no air circulation at all. Asked for another pillow and was given a stained pillow with no cover. Awake all night due to shouting and arguing by other residents. People coming and going all night, seemed like local authority B&B.NEVER AGAIN!

Review 96:Easy to get there

Review 97:The beds were hard. Ok for one night but wouldn't want to stay any longer. Also there was no breakfast so we had to get up and go down the road to find somewhere to eat.

Review 98:The location was excellent. room overlooking the sea was nice.

Review 99:The toilet was dirty

Review 100:The room was value for money

Review 101:View overlooking the see and its just around shops and restaurants

Review 102:The noise of the sea wind can be very hard

Review 103:Echoing in room. Needs sound dampening.

Review 104:Friendly welcome, very clean and tidy. Nicely decorated, comfortable quiet and warm.

Review 105:Nothing

Review 106:Friendly welcoming staff. Basic rooms but clean and fresh, lovely strong shower. All you need.

Review 107:very bad heat insulation, old equipment, missing plug in the bath - maybe to avoid that we take a bath?-

Review 108:friendly girl at the reception

Review 109:Difficult to get door shut until shown a knack.

Review 110:Very clean and quiet. Everything worked.

Review 111:Cleanliness, location

Review 112:Squeaky beds and no bath plug. Very basic.

Review 113:Good location and clean.

Review 114:The single rooms are at the back of the lodge.....looking at a scrubby yard

Review 115:At the sea friont, easy to travel

Review 116:Everything

Review 117:I only had one night

Review 118:Great. Location. Value and very clean and tidy

Review 119:Great location - excellent value for money - good clean basic accommodation that we needed for an overnight stay

Review 120:Exactly what we needed.

Review 121:Great seafront location. Basic, but clean, tidy and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Review 122:4 flights of stairs to cell. Wasn't able to check in until v.late afternoon 5ish.

Review 123:The bed was bit to hard for me and my back killed in the morning

Review 124:The people are very friendly and helpful

Review 125:It was a very pleasent stay. The room was spacious, functional and very clean.

Review 126:Only one pillow, walls were thin. Lots of stairs think they should invest in a lift.

Review 127:Location, viewpoint was so nice waking up to the Seaview

Review 128:The window are to thin can hear all the traffic outside. And the bed makes so much noise.

Review 129:The location

Review 130:Room was a bit pokey

Review 131:Hotel was convenient for where I wanted to be

Review 132:Tiny room uncomfortable bed

Review 133:Location
