Reviews for St Georges
Review 1:The soft bed x x x .
Review 2:I booked this for my elderly mum and dad that had a lovely time just wish the beds were to soft for them but apart from that they would love to go back .
Review 3:We stayed for a weekend in November and would recommend this hotel. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast options were good and there is a bus stop right outside. Would definitely stay again.
Review 4:They had a plumbing problem the weekend we were there. Not ideal but they worked hard to rectify it.
Review 5:The staff were very good. They allowed early check in and kept bags for us when checked out so we didn't have to carry them all round the island all day.
Review 6:The staff was really friendly and the room and the breakfast room were clean. The breakfast was excellent -especially the cooked breakfast. I would definitely recommend this B&B.
Review 7:Very pleased with everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodation and breakfast were excellent. I would definitely recommend this place to stay to other people.
Review 8:Since it's an traditional house, with its own charme, one hears all movements on the wooden floors. (But who wants to spent all day inside, right? ;-)
Review 9:The location on the promenade, the hotel is in good walking distance to the center. There are some really good restaurant close by.
Review 10:Breakfast could have been served till later, though the times were standard for many places. Also it was quite expensive but this is a comment on Guernsey not this accommodation specifically.
Review 11:Nicely run, in a good location. Nice that toys for the children were available to borrow. Very good breakfast.
Review 12:The only thing that wasn't very good was the extractor fan in the bathroom - it took a while for it to go off after it had been turned off.
Review 13:The staff were excellent, I don't think you can beat the breakfast. The cleanliness was excellent .
Review 14:The original room was ground floor front, meaning that we heard people coming and going from the hall. Also the water system was pumped, which made a racket. The owner very willingly and kindly moved us to a quieter room.
Review 15:The location was good for St. Peter Port, close by to a reasonable place to eat and close to a bus stop.
Review 16:Location although right on the main route through St.Peters Port was a fair distance from center of town and harbour for those who had difficulty walking. Although bus stop virtually outside hotel so not too bad to get around
Review 17:Very comfortable room, excellent choice at breakfast to suit all appetites. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 18:Room was small and at top of steep stairs. Staff weren't proactive at being helpful - which made you feel awkward asking for things - though they normally responded well when asked. Noise in street in the late evenings. Expensive for what it was.
Review 19:Nice view over harbour. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Happy to store a bag for us and allow us to leave our bikes when we went for a few days in Sark after checking out.
Review 20:Further from ferry terminal dragging cases across cobblestones than expected.
Review 21:The BEST breakfast. Whist our bedroom faced main road , double glazed windows ensured good sleep
Review 22:My bed was too short . The bathroom is just too compact , accessing the toilet was difficult . The room was directly above the kitchen with noise and cooking odours to contend with .
Review 23:Charming establishment , friendly owner and a pretty good location .
Review 24:On busy main road Parking issues Matress on bed worn out - springs.Time consider time to replacimg them I think
Review 25:Near Port Bright breakfast room nicely set out - informal and friendly with good celection of food
Review 26:Bathroom rather small and shower needs updating.
Review 27:We stayed 10 nights and really can't fault it,food was amazing and lots if chose.very clean and a lovely couple.Great location.
Review 28:Traffic noise was greater than expected, but St Georges cannot be blamed in any way for that. The closed windows cut out all noise - Great.
Review 29:Lovely staff and great breakfast.
Review 30:When I was in the shower the shower curtain had fell down and had to put it back up
Review 31:I liked that it was down the road from my friends house and within a ten minute walk to the town centre.. Also was along the sea front..
Review 32:Minor issue but if driving parking is a little restricted - there is parking at the door but time limited to 3 hours during the day but unrestricted overnight. We had personally no issues with this.
Review 33:Staff were super helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Room was perfect. Overlooking the sea and a few minutes walk from the center of St Peter Port.
Review 34:our room (18) was above the kitchen and there were cooking/frying smells most of the time which were rather unpleasant; some maintenance issues in the room including a loose hook, loo wobbly on its base, a gap in the floorboards under the carpet
Review 35:pretty little B&B, nicely decorated and clean; in a very good location on the seafront, within walking distance of the main harbour but just far enough away to avoid the noise; friendly staff, good breakfast in very nice breakfast room; lots of info for visitors. Not cheap but reasonable value
Review 36:The staff at the check in was also not really friendly, the lady was a little bit grumpy in our opinion. Check out at 10.00 is also very early, but ok.... We were travelling for 17 days, and all other were friendly.... but okay. The rooms are quite old, the bathroom is old as well, the beds were good to sleep in - the housekeeping and the staff in the kitchen were friendly and nice at all. In one room of us the washbasin wasn´t in the bathroom, it was next to our beds - little bit strange. Breakfast was good also!
Review 37:We spent 4 nights in the St. Georges in St. Peter Port. It´s a B&B and we didn´t expect something special. Honestly in my opinion the prices are really high for that B&B. We had 2 rooms there in it was almost a bit more than 1.000,- Euros for all of us. I know Channel Islands are not cheap, but compared what you get for it´s defenetly to expensive. The WIFI worked in the whole B&B pretty good and was free. Parking is available directly in front of the hotel, there is no charge but they are public parking spaces. It´s about 10 Minutes walk into the center of St. Peter Port. Some good restaurants are around!
Review 38:Bathroom in room 14 a bit on the small side but did the job.
Review 39:Good location only a short walk to town and numerous restaurants. Good condition and very clean. Polite and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast.
Review 40:This is a three star guest house and is better than some four star places I have stayed in. I found many thoughtful extras around St Georges, including toys for toddlers
Review 41:No Shelf in bathroom. Poor standard of furnishings ,cheap furniture andnoisy inside and out. Beware odd attitude of owner/manager
Review 42:Good breakfasts, very clean
Review 43:Basic, clean hotel, with good breakfast and friendly staff. However every time I turned the taps on in my room, there was a horrendously loud noise. The staff said when I checked in that it would be fixed the next day.I was there for 3 nights and it wasnt fixed. My friends who had a room upstairs, found the access up and down the stairs was very difficult with suitcases.
Review 44:The breakfast was very good, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was clean..
Review 45:Room didn't have sea view - overlooked building opposite that had workmen drilling, banging, shouting at 7.30am. Located on busy main road so quite noisy.
Review 46:Proximity to harbour, beach and town centre (10-15 mins walk). Breakfast cooked to order.
Review 47:Very disgruntled staff when we had problem with front door lock one evening and asked for assistance. curt and abrupt in helping us.
Review 48:Pleasant and helpful waitress at breakfast.
Review 49:We booked a room with see view. We had a confirmation for it. No room with see view was available. As we asked friendly at the reception, stuff was harshly.
Review 50:We liked the location ! We were near the town centre and ferry ports . Most of all friendliness of Davina and staff and Jihns very good cooked breakfasts !
Review 51:Toilet loose on floor, need refix. Shower, non thermostic, risk of water burn , health & safety issue.
Review 52:Good breakfast, plenty of choice, helpful staff.
Review 53:No private parking however very close to a large carpark on the quay.
Review 54:Very central to local resturants , Very close to ferry Staff all have good sence of humours breakfast excellent
Review 55:The hotel doesn't have any private parking, so you have to park in spaces which have limited time, however you can find a space and it isn't a major problem.
Review 56:Choices at breakfast time were very good. Friendly, approachable and welcoming owners and staff.
Review 57:Walls quite thin so occasional noise from other guests.
Review 58:Super breakfasts with a wide choice in a bright room. Helpful staff. Good wifi. Ability to leave luggage at start and end of stay.
Review 59:I found the mattress uncomfortable... springs have collapsed? anyway, needs a new one. There was a strange smell at times which was noted in the room. The smell of an obvious previous water egress was evident in the bathroom, particularly when opening the vanity storage door !
Review 60:The organization of breakfast, was excellent. The entire premises were cleaned daily.
Review 61:It was all great
Review 62:The welcome here was warm from all the staff we encountered . Nothing was too much trouble and all the facilities were at least as good as promised.
Review 63:Sadly, our room was below another guest room and as a result was quite noisy - especially in the mornings. We asked if there was an opportunity to change rooms and were told by the proprieter that if we didn't like the room then we would have to check out. We were making an enquiry about room availability NOT a complaint, and did not appreciate the rude response we received. The proprieter insisted that she was too busy to deal with our enquiry & was abrupt and unhelpful. Not a way to run a guest house!
Review 64:The guest house is well located for exploring Guernsey, and easily accessible from St Peter Port. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the breakfast facilities.
Review 65:Location is on sea front which can be very windy !
Review 66:- Reasonably price and no hidden charges; - Friendly staff; - Nice breakfast - Within easy walking distance of town centre and a small supermarket.; - Bus stop outside (on a bus route to/from Airport).
Review 67:Lovely location, room overlooked bay. Best breakfast in clean, fresh dining room. Cutlery available to enable you to bring food in to eat later in day plus extra tea and coffee.
Review 68:Wi-fi signal was sometimes weak and internet access was intermittent.
Review 69:Lovely sea view. Excellent breakfast served efficiently. Good service in offering to print boarding cards, also passing on telephone messages.
Review 70:Our room faced the main road and we experienced a bit of road noise. There were a few hairs around the bathroom on arrival but the rest of the room seemed quite clean. There is only one babies high chair at breakfast, so when there are more than one family, young children have to sit on your lap, which is not ideal!
Review 71:This b&b is well priced and overall good value for money. The breakfast choice is good and the view of the sea we had was lovely.
Review 72:Few leaks in the bathroom but it was undergoing a full refurbishment at the time of our visit.
Review 73:Value for money, very good location - a welcoming guest house that is family run, therefore offers that personal touch that bigger chains don't.
Review 74:When booked I notified them I was vegan. When I arrived, I reminded the staff, who replied "I don't know what vegans eat so we can't help you". When I went down for breakfast the chef said he didn't now what vegans ate but that I could have an apple or pear. I asked for beans/mushrooms on toast which the chef provided
Review 75:A great stay at St George's over the new year holiday. Very friendly staff, took our bags up while we were out during the day waiting for the room - even moved to a bigger room. Use of iron very helpful, good free wifi connection. Great selection for breakfast too. Will be back in the future
Review 76:Well located close to the main town and sea front view. Very helpful owner who stayed up late (11pm) to make sure I was accommodated as my ferry was delayed
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:The location in walking distance of town on the sea front and good views of Herm. Even though they were refurbishing nothing was to much trouble and never intruded on our stay.
Review 79:Asked for room with view which I suppose it did have sort of more view of snooker room in pub next door. Landlady was unfriendly but her husband was very helpful and pleasant.
Review 80:The breakfasts were excellent plenty of choice and lots of it. Bus stop right outside hotel. Shower in room excellent. Rooms are being refurbished. Staff lovely.
Review 81:Nothing comes to mind
Review 82:Breakfasts excellent Staff so friendly and accommodating Nearby restaurants excellent food and value for money Close proximity to St Peterport
Review 83:Our room (No 8) only had very small shower room. No washbasin and nowhere to put any toiletries. The washbasin was over the far side of the bedroom with a couple of small racks for toiletries. Quite noisy and busy main road in front of hotel.
Review 84:From arrival we were made welcome and straight away our cases were taken and carried up the stairs to our room (at the top of winding stairs) - as no lift. Breakfasts were first class and everything there you could wish for.All staff were very friendly and courteous.
Review 85:Wi-Fi not working, the receptionist blamed my tablet, but no-one could get online. Lack of a car park was a bit of a pain.
Review 86:Easy level walk to shops and restaurants.
Review 87:Maybe need darker curtain in front of the house due seeing cars light through the night.
Review 88:All and so near the sea. Good are for walking and view of the sea. Friendly staffs. Good food and chief was good and friendly. Near the bus stop and pubs. Great start for walking toward town and boats.
Review 89:Quite a long walk from the bus station but better once we had worked the back route.
Review 90:We enjoyed our lovely quiet room off the back courtyard and the excellent breakfast which provided plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was prepared on request.
Review 91:This guest house is close to a busy road, especially if your room is at the front. The traffic was heavy most of the time.
Review 92:The breakfast room was modern , clean and comfortable. The food was good.
Review 93:Very noisey - double-glazing insufficient to keep out road noise.
Review 94:Atmosphere Friendly owners / hosts Excellent dining room Generous breakfast Service Cleanliness
Review 95:No plant milk or dairy free spread available (but there is a fridge available for guests who bring their own).
Review 96:We had a comfortable room for three people.
Review 97:WiFi was not working during my whole stay but I was informed that this was not the hotel's fault but that of their internet service provider.
Review 98:Nice breakfasts, comfortable room. Easy to walk into town centre or to catch a bus from right outside the hotel.
Review 99:Davina's attitude to guests. WiFi switched off at night.
Review 100:Excellent location, clean and comfortable. The breakfast brilliant, the house keeper, kitchen and breakfast staff all lovely. Shame about Davina. Just check out other reviews its all been said before.
Review 101:A couple of the rooms didn't have wifi but it was readily available in the lobby without any hassle. No airport transfers available however I caught a bus on arrival which dropped me at the door for one pound. Taxi to airport cost sixteen pound. These are very minor and all in all I don't have another single complaint.
Review 102:excellent location, a short distance to walk to main shops and every thing I wanted to see and do. Excellent breakfast, plenty to choose from, good quick service with a smile. While it is not the Ritz very comfortable bed, room clean, serviced every day. Staff friendly and willing to please. A convenient corner pub across the road for easy quick dinners and a chat with the locals.
Review 103:nothing really, only that our stay was to brief, but we will be back.

Review 105:I honestly found nothing to dislike.
Review 106:The location was just right as I spent my days cycling around the Island visiting the sites. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and I set off each day after a substantial breakfast. Certainly a very pleasant property to stay at. I was a guest very recently for ten days.
Review 107:bathroom above us was really noisy.
Review 108:location, amazing breakfast, size of room, helpful staff, large en-suite, comfortable beds, lots of storage, lots of information about things going on (more than in the information centre) simple handbook in each room, excellent wi-fi, Good value.
Review 109:No fruit at breakfast other than grapefruit segments which was available one morning only
Review 110:Restaurants close by Bus stop outside 10minute walk to town Very helpful receptionist
Review 111:That I couldn't stay longer!
Review 112:The guesthouse was spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely with a good choice. Ideally located just a short walk from the town centre along the sea front. I couldn't have asked for more.
Review 113:Location: Close to town, but at a busy street (lack of sound isolation). Expensive, not very friendly staff.
Review 114:Breakfast is good. Has all what you need.
Review 115:The only thing was my room was above the kitchen andnit was very noisy from half six onwards! I will definitely stay again but request a room away from the kitchen
Review 116:The staff were lovely, and so helpful! The breakfast was amazing, such a great selection!
Review 117:Hazardous twisty, steep stairs to get to our room on the 1st floor
Review 118:Well situated and very friendly staff. Rooms simple but clean and adequate although the bathroom could do with being a big bigger for larger people such as myself.
Review 119:Staff seemed a bit thin on the ground. I waited at reception for about 15 minutes when I first arrived for someone to come and check me in, and when I couldn't connect to the wifi and couldn't find anyone to ask for help so I just gave up!
Review 120:My room was great, clean, tidy and comfortable and the staff were reall friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was great! I loved the 10 minute stroll into the town centre along the harbour. Its a great little B&B. I only stayed for one night, but would have been very happy to stay for longer and will probably return on my next visit to Guernsey.
Review 121:The steep climb to our 2nd floor room with luggage! (Can't be helped in an old building I know.) A washbasin in the bedroom and no towel rail for wet towels.
Review 122:Excellent location, close to town with restaurants nearby. Lovely breakfast. Helpful friendly staff Comfortable room with plenty of tea and coffee and hairdryer!
Review 123:Room not ready when we arrived .Bathroom & toilet combined was very small in width, you were unable to access the toilet without turning sideways. Internet coverage was poor. Breakfast was greasy & the hostess/ receptionist was unfriendly to say the least.
