Reviews for Airth Castle Hotel
Review 1:Be very carefull when you make reservation. 90% of the rooms of this hotel are NOT in the castle. Never mind what their web site says! On my 3 day journey to Scotland I have reserver 3 "castle" hotels, and in 2 of them (besides this one) the rooms were actually IN THE CASTLE. Even more: I have paid for other 2 LESS than I have paid for this one. More experience: After asking at reception, they allowed us to visit the castle for couple of photos. NOTHING to see inside it. Just a reception room (small) and all the rest are closed doors. The "hotel": In the corridors - torn wallpapers. Room - worn old furniture not even restored. This was supposed to be 4* hotel - not even a fridge? Was given just 1 access card for 2 ppl - 4* hotel? No thermostat in the room - was not comfortable - probably they save on heating? Room readiness - bed did not seem to be prepared for new guests. Looked like someone just pulled off the sheets. Bathroom in the room - same with toilet - bath tissue in the toilet. Room for 2 - one only foteuil in the room. Room for 2 - even they saved on th biscuits!!! - One only biscuit.(not that I ever eat that) Internet??? (was supposed to be free WiFi) - Forget it! After 30 min trying to acquire IP got to the reception and asked.. - so they explained - too many ppl in the hotel that use our WiFi. Really??? 4*??? Finally - I would not give them more than 2*. Maybe even less.
Review 2:NOTHING
Review 3:The first room allocated had not been made up although it was replaced promptly. The second room was tired...scuffed carpets chipped bath/taps etc and the bed very firm. Walls...well you could hear everything above and behind. The foam rather than feather pillows etc all added to a disturbed "work" night The place is undergoing a full refurbishment so hopefully my experience will not be repeated so I will try it again. Arriving at 6pm I had to have supper at 6.30 or 8.45....not what suited me even though it was not really full The hotel is a function/conference hotel rather than a business man travelling haunt so you know what to expect.
Review 4:I had a really good deal inclusive of evening meal etc Despite a limited menu the food was excellent Staff friendly and helpful....and LOADS of them !
Review 5:Being duped in to thinking we would be staying in a beautiful Castle. The building should be closed and rooms only sold in the new part of the premises. Not enough seating due to bizarre decor.
Review 6:Sam Slight and her excellent staff. The food was 10/10.
Review 7:It's hard to pick out what I didn't like. I didn't like that the bathroom didn't really seem to be clean and pieces were indeed falling apart. I didn't mind it, but just a note for people staying in the castle, there is NO ONE to help you with your bags. You will be carrying them up ALL the stairs.
Review 8:What's not to love about staying in an old, haunted castle? This building is beautiful on the outside and oldish on the inside and in a great location. The bed was so comfy! The staff was so incredibly friendly and the dinner was delicious. I was weary of staying here because of all the bad reviews, but I am so glad I did! I loved the creepiness of being only 1 of 2 guests staying in the entire castle.
Review 9:Window handle in room broken, eventually attended to but not successfully. Shower head broken, but still in working order. Jacuzzi water far too hot, as was steam room corner, I almost burned my legs sitting down. Reported these, but don't know there was any follow up. Also, both nights that we ate in, the bill presented was faulty (overcharging both times), rectified when we pointed this out.
Review 10:Very comfortable bed and spacious family room for the two of us. Breakfast staff efficient. Breakfast tasty and easily accessible. Nice ambience generally.
Review 11:The main stairwells in the castle need refurbished as the wallpaper is ripped in places and is quite dated. The bathroom suite is also dated but all in all it was nice.
Review 12:My room was the top floor of the castle so it's not ideal for those with limited mobility as you have to climb a number of flights of stairs. The room was very nice, large bed a large bathroom.
Review 13:Not so much a bad experience but bathroom in our suite (314) could do with a refurb. This didn't impact on the quality of our stay however.
Review 14:Lovely staff, comfortable room, great location and food was amazing!
Review 15:Rooms are terrible; I had four before I could get wifi and a mobile signal. Run down, shabby, broken appliances (hairdryer; TV; kettle)
Review 16:The restaurant offered great food in the evening. The Staff were very helpful.
Review 17:The fact it was one of the party nights led meant there were large groups of 'adults' making all kinds of noise until 4:30am, and I had to call reception at 2:30am as their were people banging on the door on the room opposite every 5 mins as that was the gathering room. Music on the tv on full blast and no care of thought for the other guests. Something you'd expect from a club 18-30s night. So if staying in December, take this in to consideration!! As these people were complete morons, and the hotel should have policed it better as people that behave like that shouldn't be staying there!!
Review 18:The location is great and the grounds are beautiful!
Review 19:restaurant very nice but dark - bar staff okay but seemed like they needed cheering up
Review 20:Hotel receptionist very friendly and happy, room really comfy and clean, great shower
Review 21:I had asked for a quiet room and found myself in a corridor full of graduates about to attend a ball. I asked to be moved and was moved to the castle. Room 23 was in the basement, you guessed it I headed for the top floor. My room had 5 missing lights bulbs and no chair at the desk making working and eating my room service dinner challenging.
Review 22:I liked the location and the food was really good, the team were also accommodating and helpful
Review 23:The bathroom sink had no plug the shower leaked all over tiled floor making it a death trap there was broken lighting in the room. The whole room just felt dated and run down
Review 24:Everything was terrific!
Review 25:We got a great deal for this resort and were surprised at how amazing the place was. Clean, warm, friendly, great restaurant, cheap food and drinks. Luxury!
Review 26:When booking it makes you think you are staying in the castle but sadly it's not. The jacuzzi was cold and showers in the fitness rooms were cold
Review 27:The bar/restaurant were very well decorated. Staff at reception were very welcoming and friendly. Hotel just looks really nice !
Review 28:Due to hotel being redecorated, had to take a very circuitous route to room.
Review 29:Size of bedroom - lots of space, not at all cramped like many other hotel rooms.
Review 30:All staff friendly and welcoming. Big, comfy, warm room. Bathroom was lovely with a brilliant shower. Room was really clean. Spa was a nice distraction on a wet day and the gym was really impressive. Breakfast was really good. Plenty choice and happy to cook veggie sausages. There is a lot of improvement work going on and finding your way round can take time, but staff will cheerfully point you in the right direction and building work is hidden from public view.
Review 31:I'd have rated the hotel higher because it has the potential to be excellent, but there were a few things which let it down for me. The biggest issue was my room. The top of one of the bedside cabinets was really sticky, giving the impression that it hadn't been cleaned properly for some time, it also didn't have a glass top like the other one. I wasn't impressed by the quality of the room overall. It felt very dated and it didn't seem particularly well maintained. It looked like there were tears in the bedside lampshades, but on further inspection it was damage to the plastic lining of the shades that was the problem. Also, sitting in the seat in the corner of the room you could see screws/holes in the wall behind the bed and it just didn't leave me with a very good impression. Little things really do make a difference, and the quality of the bedroom is what separates a good stay from an excellent one. I would visit the hotel again because of it's other facilities, but unfortunately I wouldn't want to go back to this hotel and stay in the same bedroom again because it just fell short of what I expected.
Review 32:There really was a lot to like about this hotel and, at the price I paid it is hard to fault it for value for money overall. In particular the leisure facilities and the breakfast were excellent. There was also a great bar area which was perfect for relaxing with a drink and watching the football on the large screen TVs. It has a handy location too, being two minutes from the motor way means you're well placed for wherever you're onward journey takes you.
Review 33:Hotel had no allocation of spa treatments kept aside for hotel guests so when enquiring about the spa facilities were told that nothing was available.Asked to then purchase robes and were told there were none available for hotel guests only spa guests even though we had access to jacuzzi sauna etc
Review 34:Very little if being perfectly honest
Review 35:Paying premium prices for a hotel and would have revieced a nicer room in premier inn along the road. Breakfast was average and staff seemed to enjoy chatting amongst each other than deal with customers. Been a couple of weeks now and my wife is still waiting for her gluten free bread. Needs a facelift badly.
Review 36:Thought he grounds and bar area were nice.
Review 37:The room furnishing was tired and chipped. The bathroom was basic and it was almost impossible to turn on the bath taps with the fixed side panel and inward swinging screen!
Review 38:Good-sized quiet room. Excellent food. Very pleasant staff overall.
Review 39:The room in general, windows were filthy, tilt and turn window was broken and the other window didn't have a handle on it, cob webs behind curtains Weird stain/black mark around toilet seat, basically the place could be doing with an upgrade, very run down feel, although the bed was big and very comfy, we did get a great nights sleep Value for money was poor
Review 40:Nice location and grounds, breakfast was decent with lots of choice , gym facilities etc were good
Review 41:Only gripe, beds were a bit hard for our liking.
Review 42:We had a lovely stay and would recommend the castle. staff could not have been more helpful if they tried.
Review 43:The bedrooms need upgrading - pretty shabby for a 4* hotel - no water in room, tiles and flooring in bathroom need repair No number on room door
Review 44:The spa and restaurant very good. Food excellent and reasonably priced
Review 45:On arrival there was no telephone or remote control for the television. Light switch beside bed was broken and bulb missing. This however was fixed the next day. Poor internet connection.
Review 46:Friendly staff and good breakfast. Bedroom clean and comfortable.
Review 47:Beautiful surroundings and lovely drives in the area .Staff could not have been more helpful.Went out of their way to make us welcome and pointed us to a great deal for Sunday night .A real pleasure to go there Thanks to all staff including chef /meals delicious
Review 48:No warm welcome. No detailed instructions to where room was. Room was nowhere near worth the price. Room dirty and not clean. Not even a pen in room. Toilet hadn't been cleaned properly along with table and mirror let alone the floor!!!! Will not be staying again and we will both definitely be making sure other people know that the hotel was not up to standards. This is the first time I have stayed in the castle and I am so disappointed with the whole stay. Disgusting to think its was £162 for such a basic, unclean room. We stayed in tiger lily Edinburgh for £132 a month ago and the difference of quality and the whole room as a whole is massively different plus location. Wish we had saved ourselves £90 and stayed in a premier inn. Which actually was an option at the start. Breakfast was 25 mins late and dry so it was a rush to get out the room for 11am. When we were there we heard 3 complaints at reception over 24 hours......that says it all
Review 49:Location.
Review 50:Poor breakfast, had to wait ages for buffet trays to be refilled so food already on plates was cold; disastrous situation with fried and poached eggs which arrived as we were finishing our meal. As we were told pre- booking best I had emailed spa about booking treatments but no-one got back to me. On arrival we found treatments were fully booked. This was disappointing but at least the spa facilities were good - lovely pool. Male staff member I spoke to seemed unconcerned that I had emailed but received no reply from spa.
Review 51:Excellent dinner. Lovely spa area. Very nice, large rooms. Staff friendly. Overall we enjoyed our stay but it could have been better.
Review 52:Building, dinning experience both food and surroundings. Breakfast passable, just but surroundings poor as unable to even talk due to the noise at breakfast
Review 53:Reception staff excellent
Review 54:Having to wait to drive in due to wedding party unable to go to room due to wedding party service in restaurant unable to get seat in lounge after meal due to wedding party quests waiting for reception hall to be turned round who is more important need to revisit who gets priority £250 for one night not the best value we have had annoying as this was a ment to be a break for my wife
Review 55:Setting and staff
Review 56:Weddings spiking over into the bar/restaurant. Originally assigned a room in the castle top floor no lift or bar or restaurant. Reassigned a room in the main block which was not the quality we had bought. No option as we had to take it as it was the only one available. Others in the hotel were being charged £99 b&b + dinner for one night we paid £241 for two nights in a very poor room
Review 57:Staff were great so was the food.
Review 58:Bedrooms were awful, had to fight through wedding party in the foyer
Review 59:Beautiful from the outside but inside is dated and drab. Fire door with missing window in corridor. Places was just tired, outdated and grubby. Seriously needs modernising and updating. Pool and jacuzzi were far too cold.
Review 60:We had booked two rooms, one for our family, and one for my parents. We were given rooms in two different buildings - one in the actual "castle," and one in a different building down the road from the castle, which was just basically a hotel. So that was disappointing and frustrating, since we were paying to "stay in a castle." We weren't informed we wouldn't be in the actual castle when we made the booking. My parents' room didn't have hot water, so they were moved to a different room, which also didn't have hot water. They wound up taking cold showers about midnight after waiting for it to be fixed. So both of those things were frustrating. My husband complained to the manager, who was very nice, and wound up comping our dinner in the restaurant.
Review 61:Room was very clean, bed was very comfortable, meals in hotel restaurant were good, staff was nice.
Review 62:Our only issue was the jacuzzi and steam room wasn't operational on our first day but they were back open the next day so no issue really....
Review 63:We booked the same day as we travelled home and decided to stay somewhere for the night, absolutely beautiful hotel, value for money definitely and restaurant food was superb
Review 64:bit pricey for our overnight stay but we did book really late so didn't get any good deals!
Review 65:Really friendly staff made us (and the dog!) feel very welcome. Spa facilities were nice and the restaurant had gorgeous food.
Review 66:Was put in the castle but asked for twin and got a double bed. Moved to the newer building room large but shabby furnishings chipped furniture and rug very worn with prices of it coming off of floor, a safety issue. Had three nights reserved but stayed just one and choose a hotel in Stirling. Did not get charged other than for the one night. So that was nice. Not what I anticipated from the web site at all
Review 67:The problems with window hinges seemed having a long term issue, needs to be solved ASAP, as felt insecure and cold.
Review 68:Castle themed hotel, in a country side, far from the other facilities, but bar staffs are friendly and helpful.
Review 69:Our room was shoddy and not clean, there was mould around the tub, the beds were very hard and uncomfortable, the window in our room only opened a crack and it was hot and stuffy. We stayed 4 nights and our room was only cleaned 2 of the 4. The first time we asked for it to be cleaned while we waited in the lounge. Someone went in threw the covers over the bed and left more towels, nothing was cleaned or changed. The second time we didn't bother. The furniture in the lounge was worn, tattered and dirty. And worst of all the front desk and some restaurant staff were very snotty and not helpful at all. We asked for help with some activities and were told there was no concierge and we should use Google. We would have found other accommodations but we were prepaid.
Review 70:The grounds are beautiful and well kept. There were a few young fella waiters in the restaurant that were excellent. The food was very good.
Review 71:Old fashioned rooms No mini bar The place is very misleading I question the cleanliness at 8pm I was in the pool saw a plasterlying on floor next to pool after checking out at 11 headed for a swim sat in same spot and what was lying on the floor same place the plaster I got out of the pool straight away
Review 72:Disappointed that all the facilities were not based in the castle. Signposting to reception was very poor. Staff were very unwelcoming.
Review 73:The only friendly face & attentive waiter was Callum.
Review 74:The rooms very old the doors not painted the Castle doors and wall in a very bad condition the bath tab was very old the price was too high for such a property The swimming pool had a lot of chlorine
Review 75:The gardens only
Review 76:Room smelled 'stale'. No room service menu in room, had to ask at reception for one. Room looked very tired - furniture shabby, broken tiles in barhroom. Very disappointed with experience at hotel.
Review 77:Pleasant staff
Review 78:Was so unhappy when we checked in to find a shabby, outdated room. Furniture chipped. There were loose tiles in bathroom. I asked for a room change and was told I was on last room available. Staff member advised my room was worst as not one of the refurbished rooms and not advertised on their page. Was so disappointe. Left very early next morning as bed was hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast was lovely
Review 79:The rooms were a bit tattered. One room had the trouser press ripped off wall. The windows in our rooms did not fully open to all any ventilation - the rooms were uncomfortably warm and the heat had not been turned on.
Review 80:The hotel grounds are very nice and the continental breakfast was good. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Review 81:Paid £338 for B & B. Stayed in Castle. Room very bare - not special. Room wasn't cleaned during our stay. Charge for dinner was on our bill even although we had paid. Signs to reception area poor. No fridge in our room - very poor.
Review 82:The exterior of Castle is lovely as are the grounds.
Review 83:Bedroom needed refurbished beds uncomfortable furniture chipped plus my friends were in refurbished room and charged £ 50. Less which was little confusing ; (((
Review 84:Beautiful setting fabulous food great service very tatty poor room.
Review 85:My one and only minor issue, was that the wifi didn't work in the castle. Which really wasn't that big of a deal, since we were very welcome to sit in the lounges and use it in the main hotel. It's probably best it didn't work in our room, we relaxed more!
Review 86:We stayed in the Castle. It was amazing. The grounds, the views, the staff, it was all amazing. We booked massages at the Spa as well, and it was quite enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel was very conveniently located for traveling to Stirling and Edinburgh for sightseeing.
Review 87:Shouldn't really be paying full price for shoddy rooms. I realise that the refurbishment is a work in progress, but the room really was not up to 4 star standard, not even 2 star in my opinion. We were given a different room, furniture badly damaged ,but took it because we were totally fed up by then.
Review 88:Food was excellent. Staff very pleasant.
Review 89:The bed was very noisy, no minibar bar and when checked in got a dirty room.
Review 90:Nice to walk round the grounds rooms are very average peaceful for a break not really luxury
Review 91:There was no Wifi within the castle, The rooms in the castle were very poor and had little space. There was no complimentary drinks or even a fridge in the room. The tv was poor as no ppv channels or Sky were available. You had to walk 300 yards to get to reception and for breakfast which if it was raining would have been a nightmare. There was also weddings Friday & Saturday so trying to get into the room was a nightmare due to pictures getting taken, I was going to photobomb them if I had to wait longer. For £350 for 2 nights it just wasn't value for money.
Review 92:Spa & Gym were very good.
Review 93:We did not find the beds at all comfortable in fact sleeping on thefloor would probably have been more comfortable. We stayed on the 12thAug in a double room and on the 16th Aug on our return journey in a twinroom. Both the rooms were very tacky...lots of chipped furniture. In ourfirst room a bathroom downlight was literally hanging from a wire whereit had fallen from ceiling - as my husband is an electrician he couldsee a clip was missing from the fitting hence the reason it had fallenout of ceiling. Cleaning staff couldn't fail to notice this but hadnot reported it.
Review 94:The hotel public areas were very pleasant and comfortable.Food was excellent.
Review 95:Parts of hotel look a bit tired and our room although spacious enough was quite basic with a double bed. Other members of our family had larger rooms with bigger beds, etc for same price but location and service made up for that.
Review 96:Location was beautiful and several weddings over the two days so great atmosphere. Would go back again.
Review 97:we did not see the castle ! the actual hotel is situated in a modern building not in a castle as you may think and could use an upgrade
Review 98:the castle (the picture)
Review 99:On arrival we ordered evening meal after being harassed at 9pm althoughdining room open to 930. We had to get mobile torch to read menu as nolighting near table. Food served was lukewarm and disgusting andtasteless. Dining room staff very poorly trained at night andbreakfast. Bedroom was poorly laid out and only one milk per person andone cup for 2 people. This is certainly NOT a 4 Star Hotel
Review 100:From the warm welcome on arrival until we checked out staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Lovely evening meal and great breakfasts. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to enjoy spa facilities this time but hotel well placed as a base for touring.
Review 101:The staff were all extremely helpful, cheerful and professional. We made full use of the spa facilities ,the room was comfortable and the food was well presented, cooked and from a extensive menu using locally sourced ingredients.
Review 102:The Hotel rooms are very tired looking, there was marks on the walls and the bed covers were stained. The whole rooms needs a good paint and freshen up. When we arrived we found the bathroom panel had been pushed in. The hotel room was nothing like the pictures shown on their website. Felt very let down and felt that the hotel website had totally mislead us
Review 103:I was a little disappointed in the decor of the rooms, it seemed a bit dated and basic for the money I paid.... Everything else was excellent.
Review 104:Food was excellent, facilities were great !
Review 105:My wife and I originally come from the Falkirk area and This was identified by My wife and I as potentially a top class hotel and we were looking forward to it immensely. Firstly however they in error allocated us a twin room, this was however quickly fixed by giving us a room in the castle. This room was very "tired" and in dire need of decoration which to be fair we were warned about beforehand by the very helpful lady in reception. The big irritation was however the bar area. No service at our table and being addressed by bar staff as "mate and buddy " is not what I'm used to in any hotel I usually frequent. Dirty glasses continued to accumulate at the end of the bar towards the end of the evening and my wife and I heard language from fellow guests that eventually led us to leave rather than be subjected to listening to it .
Review 106:Although we had to queue for breakfast on 2 of the three days we were there, the quality of the food on offer was excellent and worth the wait.
Review 107:The bar was extremely busy due to a wedding taking over the piano bar, the staff seemed fed up (with what I have no idea) and the service was very poor, the staff all seemed very tired and annoyed, at dinner my girlfriend and I had to ask 3 times for the first round of drinks (dinner came before the first round of drinks) whether this was an honest mistake I don't know but there was money taken off the bill at the end of the night.
Review 108:Everything at the hotel was clean to a standard I'd have in my own home, the Restaurant was brilliant.
Review 109:I attended a wedding at Airth Castle on Saturday 8th of August and even although someone discarded my wife's cake delivery box I found the staff really helpful
Review 110:Place is looking tired and work as ripped tables end chairs in bar and lounge area. Bathrooms tiles cracked and bedroom and hallways need some work. Think a separate small bar for residents would be good as hard to get service when wedding parties are there.
Review 111:The staff are amazing and even though the place looks a bit rundown the food is spectacular. The location works well for us too.
Review 112:Very dated decor in both rooms and lounges, bed not comfortable at all. Taps in bathroom dodgy and no handrail to help you in/out bath/shower-slippery.Spa area also quite shabby and too small for amount of folk using it, Felt as if I was back at school with wet floor, small changing cubicle and dodgy shower curtain.Would not have been happy at all if on spa break to relax.
Review 113:Food was very good, in restaurant and at breakfast.
Review 114:This was a birthday present for my partner and having looked at the website gallery i was excited however when we arrived at the room i was extremely disappointed, it looked nothing like the picture! I now feel it is also overpriced especially for rooms that are below average.
Review 115:As i arrived I had high expectations and everything looked stunning, The hotels outside looked beautiful as did the castle. i was also impressed with the patio outside the restaurant where we enjoyed a few drinks.
Review 116:The bedroom furniture was a bit tired and we were surprised there was no fridge in the room of a 4* hotel. The wi fi was very poor - only very intermittent signal in the bedroom and very slow in the lounge - we gave up trying to use it. The jaccuzi was too hot - dangerously so we felt on the Monday morning - some users were unable to get in at all - others only stayed a very short while and the door to the steam room did not close properly. Breakfast was good overall but it would have been nice to have porridge! The dance floor was far to small for so many guests having a ceilidh.
Review 117:Excellent service, we arrived very early (before 10am) and were invited to use the facilities before our room was available which was soon after. We were attending a wedding at the castle and found the restaurant staff outstanding. All the activities were very well coordinated. The spa pool was very pleasant
Review 118:Hotel is at the wrong price point.both room and communal areas inc. bar/restaurant looking extremely tired and feeling grimy/grubby.expect much more for £147 for 1 night b&b.Weird euphoric dance music in the restaurant at breakfast 8 am.
Review 119:Food at both breakfast and wedding we attended at hotel was v good in terms of quality and choice. Set in nice grounds.
Review 120:Food at breakfast was tough, overcooked & had been sitting in warmer too long.
Review 121:One particular member of waiting staff at evening function impressed with his helfulness
Review 122:The drinks were a bit pricey at the bar. Lots of weddings here which was fine for us as thats why we were there but we did tend to take over parts of the hotel where the other residents were too. The spa was lovely but pool area looks a bit worn. It was all adults ahen we went in but then a group of kids joined and kind of ruined the relaxing atomosphere. Id prefer if it was adults only or restrict to kinds coming in a certain times. Its a spa resort after all. Service a bit slow at restaurant. Overall great experience but could do with some upgrading.
Review 123:We came here for a wedding and were drlighted to stay in the castle- the rooms were huge and very traditional- we loved it! The grounds are beautiful. The bar has a great selection of premium drinks too! Breakfast had a great choice and we were able to use the spa after check out- very relaxing!
Review 124:Spa cleanliness in pool area plastic glasses two days running on floor and window ledge. carpets in landing, hallway and bedroom didn't look like they'd seen a good hoover for many days/ weeks (in annexe). Waited 1.30minutes for a bottle of sparkling wine from the annexe to the castle for a party! Water pressure in bathroom shower poor.
Review 125:The pool & spa were a lovely feature. The breakfast was delicious. Setting was beautiful as long as you didn't look at council houses. Food in the buffet party was very nice and the castle albeit needing some TLC was stunning.
Review 126:1) Travelodge rooms are better than the room we had and a fraction of the price.2) It was very tired, dirty and hadn't been updated in what seemed like decades. 3) The pictures on this website DO NOT represent what is in the castle building. 4) It is not worth even £83 of the £183 they tried to get away with charging. 4) We ended up leaving after 5 minutes of checking in. They put you in this old room and try to charge you alot of money for it. We are not normally complainers but this was below the belt... it put a real dampener on our anniversary weekend. It wasted our time. Had to try find a nice hotel very last minute.
Review 127:Nothing
Review 128:we were booked into the stable block, it was more like an old folks home that was in bad need of repair. The paint on the ceiling in the bathroom was peeling off. It felt more like being in a very expensive run down old folks home
Review 129:the breakfast was OK
Review 130:I think it would be only fair for the hotel to warn you if there is going to be a wedding booked in over the weekend you are staying there. We ended up ordering food in our room as the wedding party seemed to be all over the restaurant/bar area. For this reason we also decided to give the breakfast a miss. Finally, when we went to use the spa on the Sunday morning quite a number of the wedding guests had the same idea and they all but took over. All the chairs round the pool were taken, the jacuzzi and steam rooms were very busy and the pool was more akin to buttons as opposed to the peaceful retreat we were looking for. I do not begrudge any wedding party the right to have a good time but some consideration should also be given to those other guests who have paid good money for a romantic and peaceful weekend away.
Review 131:The setting is very beautiful. The room was very comfortable and the the staff were all very polite and friendly.
Review 132:Solarium not in use.. No robes in room to travel to spa facilities which for a 4 star it should have, also some staff customer service was poor.
Review 133:Lovely comfortable bed and spacious clean room
Review 134:Wifi doesnt work in castle building. Decor was in poor order, needing a refresh. Bed very firm, and suspicious looking stain on the throw.
Review 135:Staff, location both excellent. Even made me a packed breakfast as I was leaving before breakfast started.
Review 136:everything bar the view, bedroom was horrendous and drab, very dated with the curtain pole hanging of the wall. We ended up leaving early hours in the morning due to the condition. Wouldn't recommend to a stray dog
Review 137:Lovely setting
Review 138:The food at breakfast is nice but it is not a relaxed experience. The breakfast room is very noisy and the buffet experience is frantic. The front desk staff were not very approachable, a smile would be nice.
Review 139:Clean refurbished room and comfortable sleep.
The Fine Print
