Reviews for Alexanders
Review 1:It was good Value for money but the noise was terrible as the cheaper rooms go out to the back where at weekends all party goers go through as it leads to the bars and they have take aways there too that stay open very late, the heating we were told goes on at 5 in the afternoon through to 10.00 in the morning which is not correct as when we came back at midnight it was off and very cold and did not come back on until the morning which is not exceptable in this weather as it is January and you should get told that the cheaper rooms at weekends will get very noisy, did not get to sleep until after 3 in the morning and did not have shower as it was just to cold in the rooma and no heating in bathroom
Review 2:It was great value for money, clean room and great location
Review 3:Room small so difficult moving about. TV power inconsistent. One bedside light not working. Stair bannister wobbly.
Review 4:Very comfy bed. Room view almost perfect.. Very clean. En-suite good. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
Review 5:Shelf holding tea making facilities was coming away from wall and kettle was slipping off it. Kettle wouldn't switch off unless unplugged from socket. Shower heat control knob kept dropping off.
Review 6:Excellent position. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean accommodation.
Review 7:breakfast ended a bit early for being on holiday
Review 8:location was handy for family in Hastings and being by the seaside, nice cosy bedroom and friendly staff
Review 9:Stressful arrival - confusion with rooms booked dealt with by young lady who was pleasant but who obviously had little experience. Daughter's single room like a cell - very small, teeny shower room, and worst of all the lumpy bed with stained sheets. Managed to change to another slightly better room. Partner and I had a 'family room' - not enough space for the two of us to walk around at the same time! Everywhere smelled of unpleasant cheap artificial air freshener. House is just a steep narrow stairwell with small rooms leading off on either side. Not a hotel - it's an old fashioned boarding house with today's hotel prices - £164.50 for these two rooms. Daylight robbery.
Review 10:Convenient location and sea view - once you forgot the room you were viewing it from!
Review 11:Car parking! Got to hotel at 2am Managed to squeeze into a space, only to get a parking ticket. Even though I was told parking was free between 4pm and 11am the following morning !
Review 12:Just needed to cross the road to the beach. The staff were not intrusive, but were there if needed
Review 13:room wash a bit shabby and the balcony door only locked on a chain and the full English breakfast was a bit small could of done with 2 of every thing.
Review 14:staff very friendly and the room had a great view
Review 15:Room was on the very top floor. no lift, lots of stairs. difficult managing the last set of stairs to the room as VERY narrow staircase. Would struggle with a large suitcase..........
Review 16:friendly, helpful staff. Due to location of room I asked for another room lower down. There was availability the first night so staff kindly transferred me to a room on a first floor. (not available for both nights sadly)
Review 17:It was quite pricey for what it was, maybe if the £80 included breakfast we would have found it a bit more reasonable. It would have been an extra £18 for breakfast which was a bit steep.
Review 18:Location was great! Right on the sea front with an amazing view. Also only a very short walk to the town, which had lots of shops, restaurant and a cinema.
Review 19:My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. This Guest house is in a excellent location so close to the beach and jsust a short walk to the old town. Very friendly couple who made us feel welcome start away. Lovely clean room will definately be returning.
Review 20:Check-in times are odd. (the check in office is closed from 12 noon till 4pm in the afternoon.) I noticed The breakfast room is only open from 7.30am-8.30am which is why I did not opt for 'breakfast included.' When you are on holiday you don't want to have to get up at the crack of dawn to have breakfast.
Review 21:I liked that the location was facing the ocean. I liked the very friendly lady who opened the office at 4pm so I could check in, and she helped me up the stairs because they put me on the top floor (attic room) and there is no lift in the building. I also liked that fact that various restaurants in the surrounding area offered discounts. Staff were friendly. There was CCTV
Review 22:My room didn't have a view of the sea. The reception is not open all day. The rooms are not modern.
Review 23:It's not expensive. Some rooms have a view of the sea... but others have less noise from the street.
Review 24:a bit noisy if you have a room towards the back side (non sea facing) as windows aren't sound proof
Review 25:Great location and amazing value for money accommodations!
Review 26:The fried breakfast could have been a little bigger.
Review 27:Seaview from the bed in the family room was amazing. There is a mini fridge in the room which was a lovely bonus and always useful. Very clean and fresh. Gorgeous house. Very friendly owners.
Review 28:I loved everything about my visit. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and very helpful in suggesting activities to do. The location was so convenient for all of my activities. Breakfast was delicious. I would absolutely stay again.
Review 29:I was Ok being on the top floor but some people might struggle with the narrow stairs to the top.
Review 30:Lady who checked me in and served breakfast was very helpful and friendly. Room and facilities very clean. Breakfast was very good. Overall good value
Review 31:I travel a lot and have stayed at a lot of hotels - however, this is the first time that we couldn't choose whether we wanted the heating on or not because the heating was controlled by management and was non existent. I know it's coming on to summer but each individual guest who stays at a hotel should choose whether they require heating or not. Freezing at certain times of night
Review 32:Location
Review 33:we had to sit on the stairs outside of the room for wifi; we had small pieces of lose wall paint everywhere on our bed and floor; in our room it was very loud because of the noise of the main street in front of our hotel - the windows are not very good isolated
Review 34:directly at the waterfront so a very nice view
Review 35:Seafront location, comfy bed, fab shower, helpful, friendly owners and staff.Newly decorated and very clean accommodation. Close to train station, shops and restaurants, 10 mins walk to Old Town.
Review 36:Good central location on the seafront. I was woken a few times during the night by noisy revellers passing by, but that's to be expected anywhere along that strip. Clean and comfortable, friendly hosts.
Review 37:Being on top floor with no lifts TV didn't work although it was fixed later had a guy drilling holes in our room for 2 hours
Review 38:Nice room & views right on beach front
Review 39:The mattress in Room 1 on the first floor needs replacing; it was lumpy and sagged down in the middle.
Review 40:Jenny was super friendly and cheery and made me feel like a valued customer. The bedlinen was immaculate :) Although the sealant around the shower tray was discoloured the bathroom itself was immaculate. I would happily stay again.
Review 41:Wifi reception wasn't great in room 4 but only a minor point.
Review 42:Modern bathroom. Lovely friendly lady serving at breakfast, and nice breakfast. Helpful reviews of local restaurants in welcome book.
Review 43:Alexanders location is perfect, staff super friendly and helpful, the place offers single bedrooms an adavantage for solo travelers, so you do not need to pay for an additional bed you will not use anyways. Public Parking for motorbike or cars in front or very near by.
Review 44:A bit noisy at night with people outside shouting( we were to the back of the building and fairly high up) could do with double glazing.
Review 45:The owners/ staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice.
Review 46:internet was having a bad day.
Review 47:The refurb is great, the owner and staff are very nice and helpful, our room had a great view. It's the 2nd time we've stayed and we'll stay again.
Review 48:This property is close to everything - minutes from Old Town, St. Leonards and directly across from the sea front. A great value for the money, and friendly greetings everyday from the hosts, staff and Amber the dog. Could you ask for anything more?
Review 49:Nothing at all !!
Review 50:Excellent value, best bed I have ever had in a hotel, so comfortable. I was upgraded to a very nice double room which was spotless and a good bathroom with very hot water instantly on tap. Everything has been thought of, coffee, teas, small fridge which made no noise, soaps, shampoos. There is also parking 1 minute away with a permit from the owner. Altogether a great stay that I would thoroughly recommend.
Review 51:Great location near the beach, Hastings Old Town is 10 minute walk away, and Country Park on your doorstep as well. Really quiet (something I was looking for) and even though I booked a single room I was given a double room for my week long stay, which was a real treat.
Review 52:There was nothing to dislike!
Review 53:Despite a late and very cold arrival after 15 hrs of travel from Bahrain, had a genuine and friendly welcome by a girl whose first day it was working for the hotel. The owner and rest of the staff were fab too. For work I usually stay at the usual snobby hotels. For private travel I prefer the smaller ones where you can be made welcome without the tiresome over service. This hotel is at the tops and I wish it and everyone associated with it the very best.
Review 54:Alexanders was clean welcoming and warm a home from home given our own key to come and go as we please and Jenny the lady on front of house was lovely. We all had a great nights sleep and will definitely be returning thanks again
Review 55:very friendly family, and at the great loc ation, so close to train station & to the shops & caffes, yet with great seaview and sounds of sea waves!!!Superb!!!
Review 56:Alexander's was a very warm, clean and comfortable place to stay. with a very warm welcome and very helpful staff. Very central to all we needed (old shops and new, and trains and buses).
Review 57:Unfortunately my room overlooked a street that had a taxi cab business. At 3:00 in the morning this was very busy, presumably from clubs closing, I was kept awake for an hour with people waiting for cabs and making all levels of noise while they were there.
Review 58:Good location, clean and tidy with optional breakfast which I don't take.
Review 59:A couple of hooks inside bathroom door and on back of door to room wouldn't go amiss!
Review 60:Location Free parking Good breakfast Cleanliness Friendly0
Review 61:Our room was very small and although it was perfectly adequate for what we wanted probably too small for a long stay The breakfast was almost cold which was a shame
Review 62:2 couples stayed at Alexander's for 1night on a theatre trip The place was very clean the bed was very comfy and the breakfast was very good There was only 1 member of staff doing everything (except cooking breakfast) and we understand she is leaving soon We were right on the sea front so lovely views
Review 63:No heating in November, and an over eager cleaners 'wake up call' at 8.30am was not enjoyed so much. Other minor issues being only two channels worked on the TV and single glazing on a main road did not make for the most peaceful of stays.
Review 64:The first floor balcony was a nice surprise, room small but clean and comfortable
Review 65:There was absolutely nothing to dislike
Review 66:As my wife had injured her foot we were given a upgraded room at no extra cost this was done entirely at the owners suggestion, nothing was too much trouble and our stay was a real joy, the room was immaculate as were the facilities, would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.
Review 67:There was nothing to dislike really. There is no air conditioning and the weather was very warm. Owing to the noise of traffic we had to keep the windows closed at night, but there was a fan provided in the room which we made good use of.
Review 68:We liked the great view over the promenade and sea from the bedroom window. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Everyone made us feel welcome, and we were close to everything. Some great restaurants are very close by. We would stay there again with no hesitation
Review 69:We had a lot of stairs to climb - fine for us but worth asking for a room lower down if stairs are a problem.
Review 70:Nicely decorated comfortable room with great sea view. It was smaller than expected but we didn't mind. Owners were friendly and accommodating. Good location for exploring the seafront and town. Handy that we had free parking overnight.
Review 71:Little noisey at back of hotel at night
Review 72:Staff were superb location only downside was a bit noisey at the back of hotel but not overly everything else cant be faulted
Review 73:Very comfortable stay. Helpful and friendly staff who helped with advice about nearby restaurants and places to visit, as well as how to get there. Breakfasts very adequate to set us up for a day sightseeing. Really enjoyed our 3 night break and fully recommend it.
Review 74:I would have liked a table and chairs in our room instead of the 1 leather chair because when we bought things back to the hotel to eat we had to sit on the bed which isn't really where I want to make crumbs.
Review 75:The room was a good size and the staff were lovely. They even offered to carry our bags up the stairs. You really felt appreciated and looked after. The bed was very comfortable and we slept quite soundly, also the bathroom was very clean. I truly enjoyed it and when I am in Hastings again I will certainly re book.
Review 76:Toilet seat was not fixed properly.... Shower hose leaked everywhere ....
Review 77:Location was ok Room was clean and spacious..... Breakfast was lovely and arrived hot....
Review 78:The accommodation was in an excellent location and rooms with sea view had a nice small balcony you could relax on.Staff we're very friendly and overall comfatable stay.
Review 79:nothing for us to fault except not enough time to explore.
Review 80:easy walk to town centre, varied restaurant venues. Nice clean area and very good views from well placed vantage points. would visit Hastings again.
Review 81:The noise from the taxi rank early hours of the morning and the parking was a little bit of an issue.
Review 82:The staff were lovely, the room very clean and in a great location just a stroll from the old town.
Review 83:No wifi, Impossible to sleep because of the noise on the street and poor insulation of the room. Got really tired. Dissapointed experience for a 50 GBP night. I will not come back to this hotel or more specifically this room
Review 84:Good Staff, Pleasant owner, Good breakfast, and mini fridge in the room.
Review 85:The pluses out weighed any negatives if there were any, none were obvious
Review 86:Management very friendly and obliging. top breakfast available at a very good price. Overall very nice place to stay
Review 87:A fan in the room on hot days would be welcome. Refrigerator was not working. Be aware that a room on a high floor will mean carrying luggage up several flights of stairs.
Review 88:Wonderful staff and a beautiful view of the seaside, the room was clean and comfortable, although very warm for a July day. Very convenient location with free parking underground in front of the hotel.
Review 89:Didn't book breakfast and didn't realise you need to let the staff know the night before if you wanted breakfast. That said there are lots of places nearby where we could get some breakfast
Review 90:The location is very good and parking very easy near by. The room was a good size and although at the back of the building was still reasonably quiet. All the staff we met were very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Review 91:This is a great B&B right on the sea front in a great location and very close to all the nice pubs and restaurants. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very comfortable. I would certainly return.
Review 92:The television was freeview and because of the weather the reception was very poor. Would have been happier with breakfast until 9am. I had problems with lack of hot water.
Review 93:Handy for the town - lovely view of the sea from the room and very friendly host and hostess.
Review 94:Bad wi-fi - not able to connect most of the time.
Review 95:Very friendly and personnal service. Excellent individually cooked breakfast. Magnificient view. Central location. Cosy rooms and athmosphere.
Review 96:Wi-fi was a little hit and miss
Review 97:Keith and Wendy were welcoming and gave great tips on things to do/places to eat. Room was a little small, but comfortable and clean.
Review 98:Friday late night revellers behind hotel but not surprising being very close to the centre of town on a warm night.
Review 99:Central location, helpfull staff, well maintained and clean.
Review 100:the service an location
Review 101:poor insulation between rooms so could hear the loo flushing and the showers very clearly.

Review 108:It was as the advert, good place and I would recommend to others
Review 109:Very friendly staff
Review 110:Particularly friendly and efficient service. Spotlessly clean.
Review 111:Location and friendly staff.
Review 112:nothing special
Review 113:Hastings is just a small and quiet town, but there are some big pubs. I could enjoy staying peacefully.

Review 124:Friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
