Reviews for The Mews Hotel

Review 1:Good location for us because close to the M1 to start our journey back to Cornwall and also close to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Our large dog was not a problem and we were not charged extra for him. The food was good and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. A good stopover.

Review 2:Couldnt get a wifi connection in Room 4, havent really experienced the same problem in other rooms there that I have stayed in.

Review 3:Food, comfort and friendly staff. When I inquired about the nearest shop that would sell shoe laces, the owner offered to take some out of his own shoes and give them to me!

Review 4:Did not have our booking when we arrived - so we were put in a small double only big enough for 1 person, still charged £75.00, had driven for 2 hours so did not want to look around, accepted it, but it was not suitable really.

Review 5:The staff were friendly, nice bar area, food ok, breakfast was nice with very nice staff on duty

Review 6:room cleanliness very bad /disgusting dirty soiled under ware left behind bedside cabinet found looking to plug iron in shower drain smelt like sewer when shower used

Review 7:food fantastic

Review 8:First room in older section of building was a bit small, but was fine for 1 night.

Review 9:Very friendly staff, small hotel feel with personalized feel, nice pub. Very accommodating.

Review 10:Poor WiFi. No mirror and plug socket close enough together for make up etc.

Review 11:Good location close to the M1. We used it forvvisitbto the Yorkshire sculpture park. Recently refurbished room, and good food.

Review 12:eating breakfast in a pub but even worse I was in the smallest room imaginable where a sink was outside the bathroom. it was excessively noisy in the daytime and it was a challet type room with car park in front and beer garden at the back. i had to pull down blinds and draw curtains so I was not looked in on by the smokers!!!!

Review 13:breakfast was good - freshly cooked and lots of it

Review 14:mattress a little tired, and if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back; mine was above the main bar so noisy but that doesn't bother me.

Review 15:small friendly pub with rooms upstairs. Good beer, apparently good food (i didn't dine) and excellent breakfast, Location ideal for driving just off M1 but as i was on public transport, less so!

Review 16:I had difficulties using the free Wifi on my laptop.

Review 17:The service and welcome was excellent. Despite the really full dining room, the staff managed to find me room to eat when I arrived on the Friday night tired and hungry, even though I did not have a table reservation. The food was lovely. Everyone at the hotel was really friendly and helpful and I felt right at home.I loved the fact that breakfast was cooked to order and so fresh.

Review 18:My room 5 was over kitchen, very noisy (talking / singing, chopping, kitchen machinery noise etc) until 2.00am & again from 6.00am when kitchen staff arrived for breakfast.

Review 19:Location was prefect for my business meeting, plenty of car parking, staff very helpful & pleasant, food excellent.

Review 20:I couldn't watch my favourite TV programmes as the signal was poor and interrupted. Also bed was too soft for me.

Review 21:Really friendly staff and delicious food in the bar area. Recommend the mushroom and stilton starter and pord medallions with mustard source. Generous portions and fast service. Lovely rooms and v. clean.

Review 22:Everything good

Review 23:Only stayed one night, had a lovely meal in the restaurant and a few drinks in the friendly bar. The bedrooms are quite small but very nice and clean. Would stay in this hotel again.

Review 24:We asked for a quiet room and got the one right over the bar and kitchen No 5 so had loud music ,loud voices and kitchen noise until 11pm .The room was dowdy, nothing matched and the twin beds were crammed into an area approx 6 ft by 7 ft ,very claustrophobic.no hand grab bars to get in and out of the shower/bath .Sodden towels and bath mat not changed in 2 days . Food mainly consisted of stodge,Yorkshire pudding with everything plus mashed potato and chips .Breakfast practically non existant unless you wanted a fry up . Cereals limited to 3 sorts of boxes, and some stale fruit . I would expect a selection of fruits, nuts and seeds to include prunes ,grapefruit or fresh fruit salad .There were no breads only toast . For £85 per night it is very poor value for money . I would ask them to look at what the Premier Inn offer . My bed was so hard that I woke up in the night with sore bones .

Review 25:Not a lot .Bar toilets like the Ritz and we've stayed in several .Super bathroom en suite

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:Our room was spacious and spotless, with best shower we've had anywhere in europe. The pub restaurant seemed to be a local favorite - with good reason. The food was excellent and the staff was very welcoming. The atmosphere was as cozy and quaint as you would expect from the name and exterior pictures. We would definetly stay again.

Review 28:The room was just ordinary, nothing special, nothing particularly bad. The breakfast was a bit the same, the lack of pastries was disappointing. Overall it was just a wee bit overpriced at £85 per night

Review 29:It's in a good location for what we were doing in Yorkshire. The pub is really good, the evening meals are great.

Review 30:there not being one of these in every town

Review 31:the room is great, the staff are great, the food is outstanding. you'd pay a lot more for a place this good in a big city

Review 32:The wallpaper in the bedroom was a bit tires and in one place was lifting from the wall. Not a big deal everything else considered!

Review 33:Good standard of pub grub and very good value wine at £13 a bottle. Beds were comfy and the bathroom was super with a large bath and recent, modern tiling. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful.

Review 34:TV in bedroom not working correctly, fan in shower room broken. My room was a little tired and "fraying at the edges".

Review 35:Food was very good both in evening and breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 36:The food is excellent and staff are very friendly. The whole atmosphere is very welcoming and its the sort of place where once you are there you don't need to move on anywhere else!!

Review 37:In our room #16: 1. Central heating not working in room - portable electric radiator helped but did not cope well. 2. Hot water OK on arrival but had packed in by morning so had very cool shower. 3. Bits kept dropping to bathroom floor from high shelf which was covered in dust & rubble - just needed a good clean. 4. On leaving, accidentally left night-dress on bed - phoned to request it's return but not returned so seemingly not found!

Review 38:Location excellent for M1 overnight - easy to find and plenty of parking. Great bar, and excellent food. Very pleasant staff.

Review 39:No negative points to note.

Review 40:Excellent staff service. The single bedroom was airy, comfortable and smelt clean and cared for. The shower room was clean fresh and all linen was sparkling. The food was a fair price well cooked and as ordered served quickly and pleasantly. Excellent value for money.

Review 41:I wouldn't say I didn't like it, but the room could have been warmer - supplementary oil filled radiator was provided, but not really large enough to heat the room.

Review 42:Warm welcome from staff Dog friendly Location great, only 5 minutes from Motorway but wouldn't know it Great value for money inc free Wi-Fi - that works No charge for dog Lovely décor in room

Review 43:??? nothing not to like

Review 44:from checking in to checking out our short but memeable stay was perfect quiet calm easy to chat . excellent staff and service the food was well above standard it was mouth wateringly devine we will be staying again and will recommend to anyone we know thank you for a faultless stay at the mews

Review 45:This is basically a pub with an annex. The bar doubles up as the restaurant. The bar is very popular with locals. If you stay here you should ensure that your room is not above the bar.

Review 46:Good size clean room

Review 47:We were allocated an upstairs room which was modern and very clean.Beds were quite hard but satisfactory. With one large suitcase the stairs could be very steep for some residents although we were asked if we needed help. Was not really aware of Bar noise or cars leaving car park.

Review 48:Staff very friendly both on arrival and also in restaurant.Good size car park and very local for Ossett and Nt properties. The dining area adjoining bar which was busy but not overly intrusive. The meals were very good and substantial ! Would revisit if we were in the area

Review 49:We could hear the staff early morning talking when preparing breakfast as our room was over the bar /kitchen. No long mirror in room.

Review 50:Lovely staff very helpful and friendly. Room clean with comfy beds and a spacious ensuite.Very tasty breakfast next morning. All in all a pleasant enjoyable stay. Will definitley be going back at some point in the near future.

Review 57:There was nothing i did not enjoy about my stay

Review 58:The evening food was fantastic can't comment on the breakfast as i didnt have it, the room was very clean and tidy, plenty of room in the carpark friendly staff and a nice atmosphere

Review 59:Bedroom windows didn't all open so room was baking hot, slept with just a sheet on and got bitten to death by insects. Burnt my bum in the shower as the control tap sticks out so as you move around you knock it and send the temp to boiling or freezing!

Review 60:Main courses at dinner and breakfast were superb although a bit on the big side. Easy location to get into Leeds. Staff friendly and helpful. Would come back but maybe to a cooler room.
