Reviews for Stanley View Guest House & Hotel

Review 1:Didn't really apply though missed the extras e.g. complementary shower gels, shampoos etc.

Review 2:Found it value for money, staff helpful and breakfast lovely. Room comfortable and clean.

Review 3:N/A

Review 4:Lovely stay, walking distance to town centre. Breakfast was fantastic and very efficient. Room was comfortable and spacious, free parking also a bonus, will stay there again.

Review 5:Friendly , welcoming and very homely . We stay here every time we have a night out in Wakefield , It is great value for money , the rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfy . Full english breakfast is great and the staff cant do enough for you . Highly recommended we wont stay anywhere else .

Review 6:Showers not working nobody bothered to check prior to our visit, we had to leave early next day so just informed them and checked out. No toileteries except for toilet paper

Review 7:Clean and comfortable, warm beds

Review 8:Tiny cramped double room which looked as if it was normally let as a single as there was only one bath towel and cup. It was also quite noisy as there was just a thin partition wall between the room and the tiled corridor. The room was rather cold as the central heating was not switched on. The parking arrangements were inadequate as most of the few spaces provided seemed to be permanently occupied.

Review 9:The premises were extremely clean and well-cared for. The owners obviously take a pride in their business. Tasty full English breakfast supplied.

Review 10:Nothing & back again 4 days later

Review 11:Staff are superb , rooms spotless , faclities excellent , Food yummy & great potions , close to big shopping complex .

Review 12:Car park was very busy on the night we visited (large bus) Forgot shampoo- would have been nice to have some in the ensuite but these are very minor points

Review 13:Clean room with everything you might need Free wifi Good breakfast All excellent value for money

Review 14:Booked single room (not ensuite), room was at the front of the building there was a lot of traffic noise. Also lots of noise from other rooms on same level. Carpark and entrance were very difficult to find no signage at all.

Review 15:Only able to cater for 17 people as dining room too small , considering 26 bedrooms and if average 2 to a room 52 people potentially. Had to wait 30 mins for a table at breakfast, then tea and coffee pot brought out, had to ask for cups, milk. then plates for toast. said had only one egg left!! we were party of four, breakfast 2 bacon 1 very paste cheap sausage, half slice fried bread, 1 table spoon of baked beans, very poor service and breakfast, worst ever, " Faulty Towers".

Review 16:attic room sleeping 8 people in 3 separate bedrooms.

Review 17:Breakfast offered OJ, tea/coffee, cereal (which I never eat), toast and a full english breakfast. The fry-up -though hot and quite tasty - was a bit on the sparse side. With only one rasher of bacon, one "cocktail" sausage, a small fried egg and two spoonfuls of beans (I passed on the tinned toms and fried bread) I was left wanting more.

Review 18:Basic, but all that I needed for my few days there. Nice and clean, with warm bedding and fresh towels.

Review 19:We received a very warm welcome by really friendly and helpful staff who attended to us .A very comfortable stay for one night with excellent food . We would stay there again and recommend this fine guest house .

Review 20:The parking was a bit difficult to find as there were no instructions on where to find it.

Review 21:Staff were very friendly and most helpful. The accommodation was spotlessly clean.

Review 22:The restaurant and the lounge areas were full of cooking smells which came from their kitchen! It left a very adour on my clothes for a couple of days!

Review 23:Room a little compact and would perhaps benefit from blackout lining on curtains due to security/street light outside room 20

Review 24:Comfortable accommodation, very clean, breakfast excellent and staff very friendly and welcoming.

Review 25:The bathroom needs some form of damp proofing. there are mould patches beginning to form on the walls. Another small item was the door handle needed screwing on tighter, beginning to come off.

Review 26:The staff go out of their way to accommodate your needs. We arrived late in the evening, but the young lady saw to it that we got a meal.

Review 27:the only down size is that there was only one small mirror above the bathroom sink, the room could've used a mirror as well

Review 28:The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was a good size and it was a very homely space

Review 29:In room we tried to get in shower but the shower wouldnt stay the same temperature it got to hot but not a problem with us as it was only a over night stay

Review 30:Although they had a good selection for breakfast, they didn't cater for special dietary requirements, ie, non dairy, gluten free

Review 31:Clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff, polite and courteous.

Review 32:Wasn't quite sure of the man in the next room. He came to his door when we were going out (late morning) dressed in a dressing gown and wanted to know if we lived there. Looking behind him, his room seemed to be piled up with goodness knows what. OD

Review 33:Could not fault this place, every thing was perfect, the room was set out really well to accommodate my mother myself and my 16 year old son, the staff really worked together at the busy breakfast time. Would highly recommend.

Review 34:Nothing to dislike.

Review 35:This was a nice hotel. It is situated on the main road, with entrance at the rear where there is private parking. I arrived with my dog and the lady suggested a change of room to one with patio doors, which was perfect as I had my dog with me, and this was so much more convenient, for taking her out. The staff are lovely and the room was clean and well presented.

Review 36:Very small parking area, on street parking all permit only so hard to park in day, noisy in the mornings when people stomp past the room for breakfast at 7.20am. Quite hard to find staff at check in and departure. Had to leave key on bar.

Review 37:Lovely breakfast, comfy, clean room, dog friendly.

Review 38:Clean and fresh, welcoming and friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help you. Shared bathroom with a couple of other rooms, but it was spotless too, and a great shower.

Review 39:OK, it's not the Ritz but for the price and location in London I really don't think you'd be able to beat it. The garden is lovely and the kitchen is great for making breakfast before a day out. Cheers Jim for a great stay!

Review 40:The bedroom was at the front and a great room but on the main road potentially noisy with traffic depending on what time you wake up or go to bed. For me happily it was peaceful as up early

Review 41:Lovely warm, caring welcome. The room was very spacious, clean and the bed comfortable. Good breakfast well cooked. Concerned kind staff made all the difference and the warm welcome of my dog companion was so appreciated. Would recommend it.

Review 42:Only thing that disappointed me was u couldn't use the front doors, we had to go out the bck door were there was flats and coucil homes, and u had to pass through the dining area where ppl were eatting

Review 43:I loved the size of the room, the cleaness, the beds were very comfy!! Didn't expect a bathroom but we had one in the room and it was so clean and gorgeous!!

Review 44:Room was tiny. Nowhere to put toiletries or clothes that did not hang up. Had to leave everything in bag. Curtains too thin - awake from 4am! Take an eye mask. If in front bedrooms they are noisy from the main road. Take ear muffs!

Review 45:Could bring in a takeaway and eat it in dining area or lounge. Breakfast great!

Review 46:It was dirty particularly the shared toilet. The bed was uncomfortable. There was no secure parking available as advertised. Only got breakfast on first day and it was awful. On the second day there was no breakfast as there was no power. No refund or apology offered. Also pretty noisy.

Review 47:In room three extractor fan which was the light aswell needed cleaning and was too noisey to use.shower head leaked and dripped and would not stay up.no bin in bathroom and cold room in morning cause heating didn't come on.curtains did not keep light out made it difficult to sleep.kettle leaked.cold breakfast room as staff kept back door open in kitchen.

Review 48:Pleasant helpful staff.nice breakfast but not considerat over two days.

Review 49:Some of the dinner was pre- cooked/over cooked and had to be returned. Obviously I believe staff should have noticed.

Review 50:Suited our purpose and basically good value for money

Review 51:Noisy at night - room 21 opposite the front door which meant intermittent noise later in the evening as people came back to the hotel

Review 52:Clean bedlinen, room and bathroom Staff Breakfast

Review 53:Wifi didn't work in Bedrooms but did work downstairs in Lounge

Review 54:Convenient for both shopping centre and hospital. Room was clean and comfortable Meals were on offer and there was a small bar although it closed early. Good cooked breakfast. Got to check in early

Review 55:Our room was downstairs at the front of the building which was a little noisy due to traffic passing along the main road, light sleepers may find this a problem. At breakfast all tables were occupied which meant we had to wait a few minutes before we could be could be seated however we weren't in a hurry so didn't really mind.

Review 56:We liked the fact that the B&B represented good value for money. Our room was clean and comfortable and was well stocked with tea, coffee and sugar. The en suite shower room was clean and modern.

Review 57:Too few staff for the amount of people. Although we did not mind having to wait, I feel with a couple more staff the experience would have been graded higher

Review 58:Friendly staff who tried their best. Couldn't do enough for you. Fresh cooked breakfast, no buffet going cold.

Review 59:bed was very firm & bathroom was quiet small.

Review 60:breakfast was nice good value for money nice & clean. Overall was happy to stay there for the 2 nights.

Review 61:Thought breakfast was included and asked to pay on leaving. Noisy road. Room too hot. Couldn't connect to wifi, and didnt feel comfortable with man in lounge who was half dressed.

Review 62:Large airy and light room. Good breakfast

Review 63:Not enough breakfast tables and we had to wait although there shortly after the start of breakfast.Too few staff and food options not available for evening meal as we weren't told we had to order in advance as no front of house to greet us.Staff too busy to talk/ respond when we spoke about the nature of our trip( son joining army)

Review 64:Very clean.Comfy bed.

Review 65:Paid for breakfast within the booking, husband got ignored and went without a cooked breakfast, very poor!!!! Evening Meal very poor also, offered to pay on the Evening, she said pay in the morning which we did and she was very arrogant about it! would Not stay again!

Review 66:Room was very comfy and clean

Review 67:Previous stay was absolutely fine, but foolishly opted for a 'bargain' deal this time. Was happy to use a shared toilet, but didn't appreciate that there wouldn't be a shower. The room is on the main road so, yes, it is noisy, and the street light is sufficient to read a book by with the curtains closed. Would suggest using a towel to provide some additional padding from the springs in the mattress. Certainly a cheap room, but you get what you pay for!

Review 68:Friendly courteous staff

Review 69:Lovely friendly welcome. All staff polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Everywhere spotless. Food tasty, well cooked and presented. 10 minute walk from town. A safe relaxing place to be after two very busy days. Thank you.

Review 70:Mattress getting a little tired, but ok. No wifi in room (public area only). Armchair would have been preferable to dining chair.

Review 71:Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms, generous food portions.

Review 72:Was dissapointed with food roast beef did not taste fresh also breakfast scrambled egg was swimming in liquid could not have toast as butter was nearly 3 months out of use by date

Review 73:Liked room and bed

Review 74:It's a little difficult to find the entrance and parking area which are actually behind the hotel. Otherwise I had no complaints at all.

Review 75:A comfortable ground floor room with a nice double bed. Friendly helpful staff. Great freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 76:Busy main road outside so rooms at the front are noisy. Fine for a one night stay.

Review 77:Convenient location for long distance travel from North to South or opposite. Fair priced, filling evening meals available.

Review 78:slow internet speed and the location were the only two things that i didnt like. i had to use my samsung galaxy s4 hotspot for faster internet speed. Also, i would have to catch a cab to get to the train station.

Review 79:Staff is extremely friendly and helpful while i do realize that this place is a guesthouse, not a hotel, she was kind enough to cook me the supper with extra foods with no additional charge although the menu was limited. I would recommend this guesthouse to everyone who's looking for a place to stay while travelling whether you're travelling alone or with a family because they also have a good range of rooms to choose from.

Review 80:Although Hugh went home sick Sunday am breakfast - I thought the other staff could have dealt with the pressure more - some lads who were staying - got up a little late for breakfast - with hangovers - the staff could have made them a cuppa and a bacon butty

Review 81:The bar staff Hugh -- was so friendly and gave sound advice re: where to eat in Wakefield

Review 82:Stayed here when having a night out in wakefield , very friendly and welcoming establishment , easy to find and good parking , got up to a full english breakfast which was spot on . I would highly recommend The Stanley View guest house suitable for all ages .

Review 83:...maybe poor range of the WiFi in room. In lobby was ok.

Review 84:Very confortable bed! Big choice onthe breakfast. Very close to the train station. Bus stop next to the hotel.

Review 85:Hard bacon!

Review 86:This is within easy reach of the town - about 20 minute walk to cathedral area. Parking at the rear was useful. Nice big room (No.25) and friendly staff.

Review 87:Easy walking distance to wakefield jazz club. We were looking for reasonably priced, clean accommodation within reach of the jazz club. Which it was. Would recommend it to anyone planning a visit.

Review 88:Only one cup for coffee in the twin room. This was rectified immediately. Dinning room was cramped, single guests taking up a four place table so it is best to go in early if in a group. This was due to it being popular though.

Review 89:They opened the kitchen when we arrived hungry and late. Staff was excellent throughout the stay. Room very clean and comfortable.

Review 90:All very satisfactory

Review 91:TheWifi was free. Breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much bother. Bed very comfortable and everywhere very clean. Have stayed there twice now.

Review 92:Staff were very helpful and helped with any query we had. Food was very good and service was excellent. Beds were comfortable and nice thick quilt would stay again for sure

Review 93:It would have been sensible for the information sheet to have directed us to the entrance at the rear, rather than to the main road!

Review 94:The room was spacious, well-equipped and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was of really high quality. We had a friendly welcome.

Review 95:We could hear the guests in the dining room from our room and the bed was a bit squeaky.. Maybe not a place for a romantic get away.

Review 96:Staff were very helpful when I asked if I could borrow the iron they did my ironing for me! Good location too and very clean. Nice breakfast too.

Review 97:It would have been better to have basic armchairs in order to relax and watch TV etc. rather than simply upright chairs. Also, I was hoping that Sky Sports was available although it is not something I would expect.

Review 98:Cleanliness throughout, efficiency and friendliness of staff, location of hotel. The room and ensuite were in a good state of decor, the shower was spacious and efficient. Nice thick-piled carpet and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay again.

Review 99:The room adjoined the main road and was a little noisy at times. The sink was slow to drain. The bed was quite hard.

Review 100:The hotel is a short walk from the city centre. The room was a good size and mostly well furnished. The room was clean with reasonably good decor.

Review 101:The heater could have been on for a few hours at night

Review 102:Friendly staff, close to Wakefield centre, good breakfast

Review 103:nice clean room ex staff

Review 104:Size of room was tiny. Hard to moved around.

Review 105:Bed was comfortable.

Review 106:Room can get a little cold - a radiator would be great

Review 107:Lovely staff Immaculately clean Great breakfast Parking and location

Review 108:The only dissapointment, the bar was closed, due to lack of staff.

Review 109:The Room was clean&tidy,Breakfast good.

Review 110:It was all pretty good

Review 111:Traffic noise

Review 112:Clean and warm

Review 113:Very clean rooms. Very helpful staff Excellent value for money

Review 114:The mattresses were slightly uncomfortable and probably need replacing.

Review 115:Great guest house. Very friendly staff.

Review 116:Friendly staff

Review 117:Near to where we wanted to stay.
