Reviews for The Yacht Inn

Review 1:Lowest rooms are on the second floor so lots of (narrow) stairs = not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Review 2:Excellent location for buses to explore the island, right by the harbour and a couple of minutes' walk from town centre. My room at the back was quiet, warm and comfortable enough though not like those shown in the photos (ditto toiletries). A bathroom problem was efficiently sorted but the bathroom itself was rather tired. Staff courteous, breakfast fine.

Review 3:Too many stairs to climb to most rooms as I have a serious medical problem and my reserved room happened to be almost on the top floor, nice room but too many stairs. 1st B/fast was far to greaser and eggs not quite cooked. Too noisey on both nights for various reasons.

Review 4:Location especially as it was on level ground with no steep hills. The view was excellent over the Harbour & Cornet Castle. Also having a discount on all drinks & meals ordered in the Bar.

Review 5:There are lots of stairs, so I would say, if you have any difficulties walking up stairs, then may be this wouldn't be the place for you, but we just loved it!

Review 6:Travelling with my elderly mother to visit family and friends in Guernsey,we booked the yacht for 2 nights-We booked 1 twin room, but they gave us 2 king rooms with sea view which was wonderful. Attention to detail in the rooms was excellent to include an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee, big bathrooms, hair dryer etc..The staff were lovely, in-particular the young blond lady who served in the bar and breakfast restaurant. The yacht is located opposite the bus station overlooking Castle Cornet and the marina.....really fabulous views....We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Review 7:Sausages in breakfast were undercooked. Signs to different rooms should be more obvious- I got lost. Shower curtain needed changing

Review 8:Comfy bed! Rooms were cosy and good size TV.

Review 9:Being silly and forgetting to hand the key in when we left ! Sorry about that - hope you have received it now ! There is a young lady who is sometimes on duty who just is not up to the same standard as the rest of the staff.

Review 10:Really, the location is superb. Friendly, casual atmosphere and staff. Great breakfast. Very spacious room. Good wifi. Good TV.

Review 11:The separate entrance VERY uninviting - otherwise you enter via the pub ??? No lift so we had to use the stairs ... we are fit but luckily we had no heavy luggage !! The stairs area was narrow with very unpractical opening doors (3 or 4) and had an 'old need to be replaced carpet smell (I could smell vomit in the morning). The breakfast area and kitchen very uninviting .. the whole place looks like it should have been upgraded a number of years ago ... it would be a nice location then ... but we will DEFINITELY not stay there again.

Review 12:The only thing we liked was the location - near shops and restaurants

Review 13:We liked the location, walking distance from the ferry. The room was facing the sea and the marina which we also liked. They allowed us to check out a bit late, good for tired travelers.

Review 14:The dirtiest carpets I have ever seen! But the beds were clean and comfortable. The whole place looks very tired and well overdue a refurbishment. Staff not well trained. Breakfasts okay.

Review 15:location. View from the front rooms

Review 16:upper level rooms were slightly ''tired''....but perfectly adequate.

Review 17:friendly helpful staff, in a clean modern sports bar bang opposite the marina.... iron ironing board and hair dryer all available in the room. fantastic breakfast....( renowned by local taxi drivers)

Review 18:The decor was very tired and facilities weren't amazing although for the price they were more than adequate.

Review 19:Breakfast was good in the morning and a good location for the town and port. Staff were all also helpful.

Review 20:The room was at the back of the premises and directly above the kitchen extractor fans and air conditioning units for the building. Very noisy from 7.00 am onwards until 10.00 pm. The breakfast featured the most under cooked sausage I have ever been presented with, almost raw!

Review 21:Very good location with ample parking close by.

Review 22:The staircase/corridor smelt very badly of cigarette smoke - although the hotel rooms are supposed to be non-smoking, someone, somewhere is chain-smoking like an old steam train !

Review 23:Easy going, relaxed, small establishment in a superb location. Spacious, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast !

Review 24:Hard to get luggage up several floors of "interesting" stairs. Carpet is very dirty in halls and on stairs Found staff a bit overworked...they could have been a little more relaxed and welcoming.

Review 25:Proximity to bus terminus and waterfront

Review 26:Didn't like having to check in/out in the bar. (There was an unmanned reception desk on the first floor). No help was offered with our suitcases up steep stairs.

Review 27:Comfortable bed Friendly staff Nice atmosphere

Review 28:Staff not particularly welcoming or friendly Didn't eat in restaurant as it didn't feel welcoming or inviting although menu looked good Wouldn't want to stay here in a room with no view

Review 29:Great location for exploring island with no car. Bus terminal outside hotel, ferry terminal up the road. Beds comfy and great view over harbour as room at front of hotel Excellent cooked breakfast l

Review 30:Bad location, between bus station and loud bars which play loud music until early morning. No staff around during the night or weekends. All out of hours numbers on internal phones went unanswered, even the managers. Staff seem to creep around the floors during early morning hours.

Review 31:Not much really

Review 32:The drains were problematic, when we flushed the toilet it came up into the shower. This was fixed in the morning but we had a very smelly night.

Review 33:Close to the ferry & town.

Review 34:The unmodernised rooms my colleagues were in. The number of staircases to lug my suitcase up to my room. My bathrooms needed a bin.

Review 35:Nicely renovated room, good bathroom and bathroom amenities.

Review 36:No lift! We had to climb 59 stairs to our room (no:23) and 40 to our elderly parents room (14) The shower in room 23 is so low and I kept hitting my head on the beam that I had use the bath always. We should have been alerted to the lift issue when booking.

Review 37:The breakfast

Review 38:- no lift but steep narrow staircases (if a fire!!!) - no salon - no reception just a desk on a landing but no staff - no services - no safe in room - no minibar in room - indifferent staff - bad mattress - no safe luggage storage ie left in a corner of public bar downstairs

Review 39:Good view + location + breakfast

Review 40:No lift -several floors - Not a problem but something to consider. Lighting in room very low. Shower cubicle very small and grouting could do with attention- But nothing to put me off going there again.

Review 41:Central Location - Great Bus service £1. per journey. Nice views over Albert Marina. Close to ferries for Hern & Sark. Excellent full English Breakfast and , Nice bar meals.reasonably priced BUT NOTHING ON SUNDAY ? - Clean comfortable room, Tea/ Coffee facilities

Review 42:Very noisy on a Friday night - from the pub downstairs until midnight and then loud drunken conversations on the street outside throughout the middle of the night. Also many flights of stairs to haul your luggage up and down in order to get to the rooms.

Review 43:A convenient location for a night's stay before a ferry departure the next morning - within walking distance of the port.

Review 44:The continental and cereal type breakfast needed bringing up to date so granola, honey and compote was available. Other bits concerning attention to detail which would have raised the Yacht to help it be a really top boutique hotel in a fantastic location.

Review 45:The location was superb and the room was large and comfortable and the bar area was contemporary.

Review 46:I have stayed at the Yacht four timed now, this time was not very good. My room had a damp feel, smelly pillows and the room in general was not very clean, needs hovering and the bathroom needed s clean. Noisy smokers outside at 1.30am, then was woken up every few hours by the room next door, you can guess what noise was being made, it sounded like a porn video was being shot. not really the Yacht's fault haha. Breakfast was a let down, not very nice at all. At £99 for the night I would have expected better, not even asked if all was ok on check out. Last stay for me for a while, shame as I liked the Yacht.

Review 47:No lift and the stairway is quite narrow

Review 48:Staff are incredibly helpful, rooms are spacious, clean and with fast reliable wifi. Breakfast has a wide selection and is served promptly. All within an excellent location. Top tip....ask for a room with a sea view!

Review 49:No bed side lights so had to stumble across the room in the dark after turning the light off. Bed made of 2 beds pushed together which would be fine but one was hard and one soft... In fact you could feel the springs!

Review 50:Breakfast was good

Review 51:It was overpriced for basic room but I suppose we paid for the location. we had a family room for ourselves and a young child the room was fine but they had no children's menu for evening meal and breakfast, when asked if they can do something for a child the answer was no!

Review 52:Location

Review 53:Our room overlooked the waterfront, but also overlooked the busterminus, which is convenient for the island's excellent busservice, but the drivers hold loud conversations early in the morning, and leave their engines idling for ages. The bins are emptied noisily ataround 5.30-6am. So, if you don't like being woken early on yourholiday, this may not be the place for you.

Review 54:The Yacht Inn is a few minutes walk from the main shopping andcafe/restaurant area of the town.Residents are given a 15% discount on prices in the hotel's public restaurant and bar on the ground floor.

Review 55:This seemed more like a three star hotel. Disappointing cleanliness and standard of facilities. Tap was broken. No safe or fridge in room

Review 56:Good location away from noise. Good view of the harbour.

Review 57:The rooms could be a little cleaner in places but this did not spoil the comfort of the room with a huge, very comfortable bed.

Review 58:Friendly staff, excellent location and first class breakfast and bar meals.

Review 59:The cold water in the sink in the bathroom always seemed to run hot (we didn't bother the report this) and the bathroom door was very stiff

Review 60:The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic.

Review 61:Location - easily accessible to centre of St Peter Port, buses to get around the island and water buses to get to the other islands. Friendly staff, easy atmosphere. The one negative is that there about five floors and no lift so if you have a room at the top, it is a long, long haul up a windy staircase, especially at the end of the day.

Review 62:For the money I would hope for fewer 'rough edges'. The bathroom is dated, with a chipped bath. Overall the room needed some 'TLC' eg mirror fixing to the wall, toilet roll holder that actually holds a toilet roll

Review 63:Good location; huge room with lovely view; bright and airy; comfortable

Review 64:The room decor was a little tired. The shower worked well but was very restricted for space. A little noisy at about 6am when deliveries were made.

Review 65:The staff were extremely pleasant an helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Free wifi in all areas and rooms. The breakfast were delicious with plenty of choice. The hotels position was second to none.

Review 66:WiFi in evening not work, next day- okay. l don't think wen in breakfast time staff need send messages from mobile.

Review 67:Helpful Staff, clean,comfortable.

Review 68:Having to get a parking disc to avoid the wardens making money out of you even though some areas were effectively free. Cost £4.50 from kiosk towards town. One night very bass-y disco next door to past 12 midnight

Review 69:Great breakfasts, helpful friendly staff, great view

Review 70:Slightly annoying that I couldn't get into my room before 2pm, but staff happy to look after my bag

Review 71:Location was perfect for visiting my son working on a Super Yacht

Review 72:There are narrow stairs with heavy fire doors and no lift. Getting our cases up and down was difficult. We are in our sixties but otherwise fit.

Review 73:The location is excellent, the staff hard-working.

Review 74:All rooms had a minimum of 30 stairs to climb and and our request by email for a lower room was ignored although we were moved the next day. The quality of the service and facilities was a lottery eg an uncomfortably hot shower one day, a lukewarm one the next day. Our wet towels were picked up from the floor and put back on the rail and the reason given was that they don't change the towels everyday.

Review 75:The location and the size of the room should make this excellent accommodation. The breakfast was good too. The bed was comfortable.

Review 76:the room wasn't ready, but soon sorted it out and charged me a cheaper rate. Be advised there are lots of stairs to get to some of the rooms

Review 77:V good location. Friendly staff.

Review 78:Rarely any hot water in the morning. A bit of a struggle with bags up the stairs. Always felt a bit rushed and 'in the way' in the bar and at breakfast (if breakfast is 7am - 10am, you must be finished and out at 10am). But, I guess that's why Guernsey is stunning, clean and well mannered, as everything and everyone is in timely order.

Review 79:The harbour location is wonderful. The breakfast is totally fantastic. The water pressure is great in the shower. The staff were accommodating and helpful if you had questions. Lovely building and a nice bar and cafe downstairs. Very kindly made us some great sandwiches for our long day walking the 39 miles around the island. Thank you!

Review 80:Assuming rooms in process of upgrade? Bathroom `tired, toilet difficult to flush and (electric) shower not particularly clean and very small - would be a problem for the average man or big person. No electrical sockets near a mirror. Breakfast served 7-10am but no cooking after 0945. Just 1 cup of coffee, 1 slice of toast to accompany breakfast with no opportunity to request more. Felt a bit of a hindrance.. Lots of stairs. A little expensive at almost £100 per night. Sorry..

Review 81:Lovely location, within easy reach of everything in St Peters Port and opposite Bus terminus. Room spacious with comfortable bed. Lady staff dealing with arrival/checkout very welcoming and friendly. Kettle with Tea/coffee facility in room and cooked breakfast very good. Thank you

Review 82:Roads narrow & you get lost easy as main & minor rds not defined to help but Island so small you do get there in the end ... Allow plenty of time if flying out..

Review 83:Loved the history of the Island

Review 84:This hotel was really quite expensive compared with others. The maintenance on the room needed attention eg towel rail hanging off the wall. There is no lift and no assistance with luggage offered. The pub downstairs was really very much a locals and no encouragement to use it was felt.

Review 85:The location was quite good opposite the small harbour and near to the bus terminus. The bed was comfortable.

Review 86:Too many stairs to rooms to negotiate suitcases easily

Review 87:Spacious room, good clean facilities, friendly staff, discount on meals purchased at bar, good food

Review 88:Complained the shower leaked , the TV did not work, the wifi did not work and no satisfactory response from staff or management.

Review 89:location and breakfast

Review 90:Standard of room very poor. Towels were not changed for the entire five days we stayed and room not cleaned either. Bathroom dirty particularly around the shore with orange mould on shower curtain. Disappointed in room as we were staying for five days and e pelted better.

Review 91:Good location. Breakfast very good and helpful staff.

Review 92:There is no staff at reception after 10 pm.

Review 93:The inn is on the waterfront, almost opposite the bus station and the causeway to castle. It is convenient for bus to and from airport or for round island trip.

Review 94:Stayed on the top floor as booked family room for three adults. Lots of stairs to climb, no lift so would not advise if you find it difficult to walk. Also bins outside property were emptied at 6am on Saturday morning so woken up early by loud noise !!!

Review 95:Position of inn to shops and directly in front of bus terminal for all buses around the island. Breakfast was good with selection of continental or cooked.

Review 96:We had alarge comfortable room with plenty of storage, a huge bed and a sofa, the bathroom was a good size with a shower cubicle. The Room and bathroom were both clean and tidy and, although there were a couple of elements that could do with updating (carpets/curtains) and no view (which we already knew about) the price we paid and the location of the hotel more than made up for this.

Review 97:Faded decoration, especially carpenting. Cheap looking room doors.

Review 98:Location, view from room, good bed and furniture, breakfast room and breakfast. Pleasant staff.

Review 99:Our bedrooms and my bathroom needed modernising and the carpets had seen better days. We hadn't asked for a view and we didn't get one as we were on the side. If you want a sea view you need to ask for one. The steep stairs were fine for us but elderly or disabled visitors should avoid.

Review 100:Location - we wanted a place near the harbour so we could easily walk to Castle Cornet, Herm and Sark ferries, Val de Terres hill climb and explore St Peter Port. My teenagers loved the wi-fi and I found it a necessity as my mobile coverage was erratic. Good breakfasts - we didn't eat in the hotel for other meals as we were out. It was quiet at night - I know other reviewers had posted that the bar was noisy but we didn't hear anything.

Review 101:I bet this had been a wonderfully characterful old pub in the good old days. It has been the subject of "modernisation" recently as a result of which much character has been knocked out of it. Personally I found that a tad regrettable, but others may well disagree

Review 102:Very nice, and fairly quiet location on the quayside close to Castle Cornet. A decent bedroom and shower-room and nice outlook - probably worth extra to get the sea-view. Breakfasts better than average. All round we were a lot happier to be staying here than in what seemed to be an abundance of plain-looking Shearing-type hotels dotted around the island.

Review 103:The room cleaning could be improved as it appeared to be the basics only being done. The room decor throughout needs updating as it is looking somewhat tired.

Review 104:Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent and sets you up for the day. Location is great as it is opposite the bus terminus and a couple of minutes walk to the high street shops and restaurants.

Review 105:Turned up off an early flight to be told couldn't check in till 2pm. Arrived at 2 to check in but owner couldn't find key for room 9. We got a free "upgrade" to room 15 in the loft with no heating, not a good swap!!!

Review 106:Food was great and good discounts . Friendly and very clean and staff were helpful. Really enjoyed stay and would been upgraded since our last stay which was a bonus.

Review 107:The bar/bistro was excellent and suited us for late lunches. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was very modern in such a quaint old historic building Fantastic views too.

Review 108:nothing!

Review 109:all staff were very helpful and considerate. Latvian girl was a pleasure to talk to and very efficient. manager was very informative and helpful in every way.

Review 110:My room had literally no view

Review 111:Absolutely superb location Friendly, pleasant staff Very good breakfast Large and comfortable room Good price ( at last )

Review 112:noise from bar and function down stairs, slight grubbiness to the room, coffee spilt down a wall that hadn't been cleaned, dirty cups and not exactly clean shower.

Review 113:huge bed, great breakfast

Review 114:Room at the very top of the building, about 6 flights of narrow stairs - No lift. Could not use shower over bath as quite tall and could not stand up; Room looked in need of painting; Late check-in (2.00 pm) and no proper reception - access only through public bar downstairs; No wardrobe; bed-heads wonky;Parking difficult as needed permit and not possible outside hotel; Charging similar price to far superior accommodation in Guernsey so would not choose to stay here again.

Review 115:Good view over harbour and handy for St Peter Port. Spacious room (family room). Staff tried to be helpful but didn't speak good English. Cooked breakfast was good but person responsible had to leave for another job before finished eating so could not have a second cup of coffee!

Review 116:cold bed. Left to own devices, bit confused as to where to get room keys from. Had to go into bar for them. Staff just got on with it, prob didn't speak very good English.

Review 117:location spot on

Review 118:Its mainly a bar and rather noisy in the evenings. I was there out of season and only a few staff who did everything. Lot of noise at night with people banging up and down the stairs - I think this was staff rather than customers, but it kept me awake particularly Saturday when there were lots of noises from people who had had too much to drink. Depends what you are looking for but rather impersonal. Good for business trips I think. Not a family hotel.

Review 119:Very close to the harbour and castle. Shop, restaurants round the corner. Also next to the bus stops. Looks good from the outside. Staff polite and helpful. Food good value for Guernsey. Rather nice quirky building inside - quite old.

Review 120:Very well situated hotel with nice rooms and large bathrooms. Breakfast was very good and delivered in large portions and friendly staff. Proprietor booked taxi and checked if everything was suitable. Great value and nice bar underneath hotel.. Great for Sola traveller or couples .

Review 121:Shower needs some work. Surround was dirty and the door will fail soon with loose bolts on the slider. No place to keep the soap at the washbasin and the washbasin tap seemed to have a mind of its own. In Booking.com it is called Yacht Inn but it is actually the Yacht Hotel, but the taxi driver had no problem

Review 122:At £49 I took a chance. The taxi driver said the food was good and it was excellent. The crab cakes were delicious and well presented.Bed was really nice. Big room. Staff were really friendly. Right on the front. Asked for a taxi for 8AM. Was told it would be there at 7:55 and in fact was outside at 7:50.

Review 123:3rd floor has no lift. There was no one to help assist elder with luggage at 7 pm at night. High tide may effect ability to access hotel if the moon, wind and tide are all insync

Review 124:Great location, amazing views of the castle and seawall. Fantastic English Breakfast included with excellent coffee. Very nice staff member Michael, who does everything.

Review 125:Faded bedrooms with odd mix of boutique and old tat furniture, good bed but broken headboard, missing ceiling lights, carpets look grubby. Like no one is taking care of room quality.

Review 126:Great location on the harbour, good public rooms, reasonable price.

Review 127:There are quite a lot of stairs however the staff were more than helpful carrying our luggage to our room.

Review 128:Lovely breakfast room with views across marina and castle cornet. Only 2 min walk to town centre. Ideally located for easy travel to other parts of Guernsey or to the other islands.

Review 129:Nothing really to dislike. However, due to not having a lift some older people or those with disabilities may find climbing to the top floors difficult.

Review 130:Convenient location, excellent staff, good value for money and pleasant and comfortable accommodation and we would stay there again.

Review 131:There was no lift and we had to climb four flights of stairs.they did not change towels every day and had to ask for dry ones.being a four star you expect fresh towels in your room everyday.

Review 132:Excellent location overlooking harbour lovely views. Great breakfast every morning good choice from cold meats , cereals, etc. English cooked breakfast.

Review 133:Couldn't gain access to internet connection for some reason, (meant to ask but kept forgetting) a little noisy at night with kids on bikes ridding up and down, but not a huge problem. Stairs could be a problem for older visitors.

Review 134:close to harbor and town, friendly staff. lovely big room with sea view and castle. good breakfast. handy ironing board and iron in room. Plenty or wardrobe space.

Review 135:Wifi was not the best in the room, but I was in the very top so maybe that's why. The building looks a bit old in places

Review 136:Nice breakfast Pleasant bar downstairs with sport on TV Nice bed, comfortable room but might be cold in winter!

Review 137:Numerous staircases to get to rooms. Not suitable for anyone with disability etc. Recommend check that a modernised room is available when booking and a sea view. Bathroom not well designed. Lack of space for towels and no heating. Towels not replaced. No toilet roll holder or space for wash bags etc. Shower screen inadequate as bathroom floor became flooded.

Review 138:Ideally situated for exploring ST Peter Port and the island with bus terminus outside the hotel. Modern bar downstairs ,friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast , well cooked and presented prompt service.

Review 139:Hike up to the 5th floor (no lift) Dangerous step to get out of shower in the bathroom - feel it is a trip hazard.

Review 140:Great views of the harbour; Staff were very polite and helpful; The beds were really comfortable; Close to all the local sea front cafes and tourist attractions.

Review 141:Stairs (I have mobility problems) Some, occasional, noise outside. It did not go on too late though.

Review 142:Situation Staff Food Breakfasts Peaceful Football on TV
