Reviews for Cedar Court Hotel

Review 1:Traffic noise ( we realise motorway was closed so more traffic than normal), constant car noise kept me awake and pillows very solid and not pliable at all.

Review 2:Comfortable bed, good room service, plenty of got water and no noise from other rooms

Review 3:We book a deluxe room, this did not happen, we had informed travelling with small dog upon arrival they changed our room to a basic room and charged for dog. The room had black mould all in bathroom and he bed area paint dirty would not use again.

Review 4:Close. To motorway

Review 5:Room service breakfast not delivered - card still in place in morning. When delivered after telephone call items missing. Unable to discuss with staff as hurrying to wedding.

Review 6:Staff welcoming. Rooms very good.

Review 7:No issues whatsoever.

Review 8:location and room availability. stayed in an executive room at a great rate - could not fault. hotel was very quiet so this obviously helped as far as service was concerned. would definitely stay here again and would recommend

Review 9:The first room spelt of cigarette smoke despite it being a no smoking room. Reception were excellent in moving me but the second room was just tired looking and a little shabby just in need of redecoration

Review 10:Allocated a room that had not been made up. Basic rooms are looking tired.

Review 11:Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Quiet night even close to the M1! They still allow dogs.

Review 12:Upon arrival it was not good. We were left at reception while the staff continued what he was doing. The Resturaunt staff if I were the employer would be dismissed. Lazy no pride in appearance. Room cleanliness left a lot to be desired shower curtain had more hooks missing than fitted. Tea and coffees facilities just put on the table, we had to ask for spoons had I not prepaid I would have left

Review 13:The location was good

Review 14:New years day - no restaurant in the evening, and no notice that it would be closed. Extremely limited bar menu. No mattress cover on bed.

Review 15:Helpful staff. Good location.

Review 16:Corridors are narrow (that's being picky) Sauna was out of service

Review 17:Very helpful staff Fairly clean Comfy bed(ignore other reviews) Had no pizza bases left so allowed us to order take away in!

Review 18:We stayed two nights with a young baby. The bins, which had wet nappies in, weren't emptied for our second day. One of the beds had marked bedding.

Review 19:Staff were helpful with our requests for the baby. Location suited our purpose to visit relatives.

Review 20:The check in was 2pm but they didn't let me in till 3pm. A cleaner walked into the room. Someone kept knocking on the door. Terrible stay!!!

Review 21:The room was nice

Review 22:The bed! The mattress was hard and lumpy and one pillow like a board and the other cheap and flat. An upgrade needed here, My daughter in the hotel with us with her husband had the same experience

Review 23:We thought the hotel ideal for our purpose i.e. spending time with our Northern family. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was definitely good value. Great breakfast.

Review 24:Bed was awful, duvet was like an old carpet Tea maker and bedside lamp didnt work Mould in the bathroom reception was a farce, we were not even booked in. Communication from reception staff regarding the wedding was NIL. Bride & Groom were put in an ordinary small room After wedding drinks on a stupid card system !

Review 25:Location to Home Size of Cedar Suite

Review 26:Booked double room to find only twin available Dirty sock in bedroom Paid cash for room but couldn't pay cash at bar at 9pm No tv remote Electric radiator not working Duvet very thin Not usually a moaner but has to be said

Review 27:Receptionist helpful

Review 28:When we arrived the room was a mess the bin was full of empty dog food cans I could have been allergic to dogs .i am disabled and asked for single beds it was double the staff where very polite and I was given complementary drink a.d was given another room I have nothing to comments about anything else to say the food was excellent and I will recommend the hotel to my friends and family

Review 29:The beds were massively uncomfortable in my experience. Both myself and my partner woke up in agony each morning. The rooms were extremely chilly during the night if the heaters were off or on a low setting. Whilst I understand it is winter I believe thicker blankets should be provided during the winter months. Finally the corridors to the rooms are not in the least bit inviting, they are quite dim and haunting, especially when staying on the ground/basement floor, pardon the analogy but it is like walking through a haunted prison cell, add to this the matt black doors with no peep holes you've got yourself a horror movie! Not a very relaxing place to stay in that respect.

Review 30:The staff were friendly and polite, allowed us to keep to ourselves as we were looking for a quiet Christmas break. However didn't seem wholly interested whilst we were checking out, a customer should have the same experience start to finish.

Review 31:shower needs updating

Review 32:The staff were very helpful and friendly . They contacted us a week before arrival to inform us about changes to the restaurant because of the Christmas events

Review 33:Food was ordinary, some of the staff were just down right rude some were pleasant. Bathroom was tiny I'm 6ft and had extreme trouble having a decent shower.

Review 34:Our family room was directly underneath a function room and a Christmas function happened to be booked in there on one of the nights booked. We were not informed of this on check in even though I advised the reception staff that we had young children aged 10 months & 3 years old. The fire alarm also went off during that evening. The evening prior was fab with no problems!

Review 35:Good value for money

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:The staff were very friendly. The room was spotless. The breakfast was excellent! Spoilt for choice with the selection of food, from fresh fruit to a full english. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends

Review 38:Room was cold no heating had been put on , sauna was broke, and we were asked to leave the swimming pool after 20 minutes due to a private aerobic class , also the iron didn't work

Review 39:Staff friendly , very clean

Review 40:I enjoy my stay at cedar court it would be nice if they offered a loyalty programme for leisure visitors for example 10 stays should give you 1 free stay. It would be great if they offered this type of programme.

Review 41:Room 249 was cold on arrival & it took the wall heater ages to warm up the room. The bed was the creakiest I've ever been in, the decor was dated (if only all the rooms looked like the ones on the hotel website) & I've never stood in the bath to shower when the shower head was below head height - ideal for a child not great for an adult. I expected better from a four star hotel but left feeling disappointed....

Review 42:Stayed there for convenience as I had a business meeting on site the following morning so I booked a room for £59 (but decided against the breakfast which was an extra £10 which I thought was too expensive).

Review 43:Bathroom had a terrible arrangement: shower curtain hangs inside the bath tub, so that you are squeezed into ca. 60 cm space between the wall and the curtain. WiFi was free, but unreliable, PC didn't even get connected, but smartphone somehow was lucky to get connected.

Review 44:Flat panel TV. Heating in the room was working! :)

Review 45:Electrics in the room (310) didn't work correctly and seemed dangerous - light switches in both rooms not working. Lift not working - being disabled was a struggle as having to take case up 2 flights of stairs. Beer bottles and glasses outside room door upon arrival. Jacuzzi bath broken allowed muck into bath water / towel rail wouldn't heat up. Having to book the pool because we had children and then they said we could only go at 6pm. They did however allow us to go at 3:20pm but said we had to leave at 4:00pm due to additional (already booked) families using the pool from 4:00pm. Breakfast menu was out of date and my daughter was upset that she couldn't have the pancakes - on menu but not available as it was "an old menu".

Review 46:Disabled Parking right outside main doors was a help as no steps involved - however spaces limited.

Review 47:Listening to 2 lots of music when in the restaurant (restaurant and bar music different). Rooms looking tired now, could do with updating, rag eared chair in bedroom and too low to use at the desk. Bathroom suspended ceiling from the 70's. Breakfast pretty standard

Review 48:Rooms were clean, bed comfy, good food, nice pool for a swim. Friendly staff. Good location

Review 49:Room was dated - the upholstery in the chair in the room was torn - there was a cold breeze in the window. The divan of the bed was stained

Review 50:I liked that there was leisure facilites. The dinner was very good as was the breakfast. Although the room was dated etc the bed was comfortable and my room was quiet

Review 51:Definitely not a 4 Star Hotel - rooms were old and tired, shower curtain was mouldy, linen didn't fit bedding properly and room generally wasn't good. Food was appalling - a chef trying to be fancy but failing on all the basics - complained about all 3 courses - but still had to pay full price. Empty restaurant - can completely understand why, Definitely would not stay here again or recommend.

Review 52:Location was useful and parking good

Review 53:The noise is what I didn't like our room was right near the reception all the drunk people screaming and shouting and went on till really early hours of morning I managed to get 2 hours sleep had a child with me and the swearing and shouting wasn't for kids to hear I thought we would have been placed in a family environment/different part to all the single parties apart from that the stay was fine comfortable value for money it's just a shame I would return but next time I'll make sure I'm in a family area

Review 54:The room the pool and the location

Review 55:The bed was so bad and old didn't get any sleep as every time you moved the bed woke you up ended up leaving at 6am as was so bad just wanted sleep

Review 56:Swimming pool and steam room was amazing also the staff were brilliant. The room was a little dated but clean and very comfortable to also was fully working

Review 57:Heavily stained pillows Cobwebs on bedside lights Two maintanance men coming straight into bedroom without checking soneone was inside the room first Although they apologised profusely these are basic things. I could have been in the shower etc as opposed to laid on the bed reading. It was embarrassing for all since they realised their error!. I just let them continue to mend the broken bathroom light which should have been done before my arrival and entering the room No point in telling recep staff on checkout as they didnt even enquire "how was your stay". These are basics guys in hotel hospitality - which means people will vote with their feet and not return

Review 58:Location

Review 59:Me and my husband didn't like the smell of smoke on the corridor and in our room! Also the shower didn't get very warm and wasn't high enough for my husband he had to bend down to get his head under.

Review 60:As we attended a party it was nice not to have to get a taxi home. And also the all night bar!

Review 61:My only complain was room 163 the towel rail did not work ??? Unless I could not work it out.

Review 62:Its a lovely hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. visited some family in the area and was very handy, once there no long traveling

Review 63:No hairdryer in room which was ment to be executive standard

Review 64:Nice hotel good staff but over priced and no hairdryer in room paid for executive double room was basic double room really very over priced

Review 65:Disappointed with the breakfast.ate about 8.50 items looked very tired and depleted. Not value for money at £10.00 per person. My wife is vegetarian. She only had coffee and toast.

Review 66:Rooms are a little tired and could do with a spruce up. Also fans in bathroom need a good clean

Review 67:Location easy motorway access Food was good and great value Staff friendly

Review 68:No proper hair drier in room

Review 69:Lovely and clean. Staff friendly. Breakfast excellent but found restaurant menu limited choice. Close to centre of Wakefield

Review 70:It hadn't been noted that we had booked for breakfast and when we checked out it hadn't been noted that we'd paid the dinner bill (rather than charging to the room) and had to find receipt to prove it.

Review 71:Warm welcome, comfy bed and nice room.

Review 72:I want it cheaper lol exceptionally good high standards great value, business, leisure, single, couples and great for families too!

Review 73:I love this hotel nothing I could complain about just wish they would reward their regular visitors if it's not business and through personal choice and booking.

Review 74:Sauna was closed. It was really noisy due to our room being downstairs function suites. Bed was uncomfortable. Really disappointed.

Review 75:Friendly staff

Review 76:staff could be a little more pleasant and engaging breakfast was slow to top-up and never seen scrabbled eggs so watery!

Review 77:location, good accommodation, comfortable room.

Review 78:It was a little noisy due to our room being near function suites but overall pleasurable would definaty stay again.

Review 79:Nice hotel, friendly staff and faculties in and out of room. Room and bed was very comfortable also.

Review 80:Room was basic (supposed to be a superior room ) Washroom poor, toilet seat and towel rail hanging of. Shower poor. Hot water took ages to come through (10mins) No nibbles in the room

Review 81:Position of hotel. Very convenient for our stay.

Review 82:The hair all over the floor in the swimming pool changing room was disgusting!

Review 83:The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I can't praise them enough for all their help and guidance. Comfy bed and great facilities. Very tasty and well presented breakfast.

Review 84:There was quite a bit of dust in the room and the bed wasn't very comfortable. We would have stayed for breakfast but thought it a bit expensive!

Review 85:All staff were very friendly and helpful. Attended for an event which was very well organised. Room service was very good and quick service provided.

Review 86:Well run, comfortable, clean & suprisingly good value. I did however receive a voucher before booking which made it affordable. Overall a really good stay.

Review 87:Unfortunately there was a boxing match. The staff were overwhelmed! No ice, warm wine, thousands of cigarette butts outside all the doors. Not a good start!

Review 88:Looked good. My ground floor room was fine and no noise from outside. Clean bed linen.

Review 89:The hotel was quite dated but the problem was the room we stayed in. The room was a excutive room at 1st it seemed fine but the was a lot of rust in the bathroom around the grab handles on the bath behind the toilet it got worse my partner ran a bath he was in the bath when he heard a gushing noise the bath water was coming out through a pipe sticking out of the toilet i ve never seen anything like it. I told a member of reception on departing whom simply said thsnks for informing us, no apology nothing. I myself am a receptionist in a hotel belonging to a very large well known group and i would never say that to a guest. I cant get my head around the fact its a 4 star

Review 90:The pool and sauna

Review 91:Bedrooms looking tired and a little grubby, bed linen, towels look over used. Had an underlying smell of stale tobacco

Review 92:Location mainly, easy to find, friendly professional staff

Review 93:Not a bad experience, but found the facilities in the bar and restaurant were of lower than expected standard, chairs and tables tatty, also breakfast was only ok

Review 94:Curtains off window, dirty bathrooms, shower curtain smelled of urine. Bath mat at reception. Very dark rooms. Seating in breakfast area dirty.

Review 95:Reception staff friendly.

Review 96:the room was not the room advertised when booking felt cheated lied to asked for my money back and went off looking for another hotel late evening after a long day at work it was a disgraceful room and smelt of cigarettes and was very dirty and not maintained to a good standard very poor

Review 97:the location

Review 98:The mattress on the bed was very hard and as I have joint problems I didn't sleep comfortably!

Review 99:The staff were brilliant, couldn't have been more helpful! I was there for a reunion, the food was good and the facilities were excellent!

Review 100:Staff grumpy and unhelpful Decor and facilities in bathroom very dated

Review 101:This is not a 4 star hotel the bathroom was last refurbished in about 1976 and the staff were grumpy and unhelpful we would have been charged to use the spa facilities which is the main reason I booked it rather than the premises Inn across the road Wouldnt use again

Review 102:The hotel is tired in tis aspect and needs an update. Some of the chairs in the dining room are badly stained The furniture in the bedroom was well worn. I also resented having to pay 50 pence for a towel in the leisure club. I have never been charged for a towel at a hotel, and I stay in many, and I had no money with me for security reasons obviously. I was not given a towel. 'Use the one in your room if you want' said the member of staff. I did not and did not pay the fifty pence either. I felt this was quite insulting as we do pay enough for hotel rooms these days. Not a great experience over all.

Review 103:The food was good and value for money.

Review 104:Not that bad but the staff overall didn't seem to be very motivated so service was below average in my view

Review 105:Good location, roomy building comfortable room.

Review 106:not much maybe some of the decoration is a bit tired but this is no great problem as the staff and value for money food outweigh this.

Review 107:superb staff.great breakfast;good evening food;all at a reasonable price.we will return. we have payed much more and not had the satisfaction that we had at the cedar court.

Review 108:Broken tap in bath room on sink. 2 lights didn't work in main room. Mold or scum around bath handles. Paid for superior suit and had down grade suit instead with no money off. And no filter coffee as stated on booking

Review 109:Pool and steam room

Review 110:The cleaner was in my room whilst I was having breakfast even though I hadn't checked out! I did complain to the reception staff but although I apologised it didn't appear to be important to them.

Review 111:The room was comfortable.

Review 112:Great staff all round. Food very good. Appalling dirty room, I booked Exec Double. I would hate to see standard double - if this was the quality. Towels smelt. Filthy walls. Shower barely made it. Overall - sorry, but extremely poor. Couldn't fault the attentive staff - who made up for attrocious accommodation.

Review 113:Unfortunately the bed was a little over firm for me.

Review 114:Location is excellent for a scenic walk along the canal and there are some great visitor attractions within driving distance such as Yorkshire Sculpture Park and National Mining Museum. The pool is lovely and warm.

Review 115:The price of the breakfast was expensive compared to other hotels I have stopped in whilst working within the erea. For the price I paid, Internet access should have been included within the price, not offered at an optional cost. I have stopped at hotels that are significantly cheaper and these have included free WiFi.

Review 116:The hotel was conveniently located within easy reach of the motorway(M1)

Review 117:The smell of was awful, the food sucked and the worst thing was listingto the person in the room next door going to the toilet and snoring, thewalls are way too thin.

Review 118:Staff were ok

Review 119:Clean friendly hotel Lots of Car Parking. Rooms comfortable. Big comfy beds. Nice relaxing ambience. Good leisure facilities. Brilliant breakfast,

Review 120:Shower poor, bath tub too narrow, hair dryer didn't work. Toaster great first day, only required one insertion, for perfect toast.... but day two, had to insert great two and sometimes three times for a reasonable slice of toast.. Frustrating, caused delays.

Review 121:Friendly, welcoming staff.

Review 122:Our car battery died in your car park!! Fortunately, couldn't be a better place to call the AA from.

Review 123:Have stayed a few times now its convenient for us visiting family in Wakefield. Had family parties there too. Everything is always great, accommodation, food and staff. We had an excellent deal recently, two nights bb for £98 for two of us. This was brilliant especially with the bonus of leisure facilities too. Also fabulous restaurant manager at breakfast.

Review 124:2nd visit to this hotel, 2nd disappointment! Booked exeutive double, on arrival I was told to prove my booking as I was not on their system,i was then informed the room I had reseved was not available due to a leak! (all of the exutive rooms?!) for £10 less I was put in a "superior room" which im sorry was the exact same as a "double room" reception staff had a poor attitude asking me to constantly repeat myself then almost growl he has a cold! however, when i requested a bath robe it was brought to my room. I will be sending an email to advise of my disappointment.

Review 125:location

Review 126:Booked executive room but only given a standard room. Broken toilet seat. Flashing bathroom light. Hot water in shower took ages. Someone else put their bar bill on our room.

Review 127:Not much.

Review 128:I arrived late and they "lost" my room service order- eventually got dinner after midnight (the night man Fathi saved the day!). So far the hotel haven't bothered to acknowledge or reply to my complaint. Jonathan Pritchard- open your emails! Room smelled damp, doors jammed- a bit worrying!

Review 129:Breakfast reception was friendly and attentive. Bed was comfortable.

Review 130:Double booked on first night so had to stay elsewhere. Room booked was filthy (bathroom) so was moved. Service very slow (45 mins to deliver a simple bar meal when it was largely empty), overcharged on bill and staff unapologetic.

Review 131:Extremely poor soundproofing;very aware of neighbouring toilet habits!!!!Unpleasant!!!! General slow service and slapdash approach of staff at evening meal, though food was acceptable when it came.limited menu. There is a vintage inn up the road, would use that instead of eating herein the evening.Poor reception for bbc channels on TV . Wifi is free but had to go to main areas where it remained painfully slow

Review 132:Decent breakfast, very impressed with the organisation and awareness of John. The friendliness and attitude of Lesley in the leisure club. Very easy for access ,only fifteen minutes from YSP and Hayward by car. Both really worth a visit and both with decent food in cafes.

Review 133:Inevitably as it was Saturday night there was a wedding and we heard a 'domestic' about 5 o'clock in the morning - but really this could have happened anywhere and our room seemed otherwise quiet and well away from the function suite

Review 134:This hotel is very well situated for the Hepworth Wakfield and Yorkshire Scuplture Park and it is easy to get to We ate in Wakefield - there are several competent Indian restaurants there The room was fine and there are two particular pluses - it had a bath not just a shower and there was swimming pool

Review 135:Problem with entry keys to room, not easy to find room and no porter available. Breakfast Sinday big queues and staff struggling to keep up demand

Review 136:Rooms good overall hotel good and good location

Review 137:Internet suck...wifi is slow and have to connect again and again....

Review 138:All the facilities..gym, sauna.hot tub and pool..break fast was good without very professional staff..

Review 139:The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The shower was a little antiquated, difficult to balance and leaked around the controls. We were awoken at 8.15 by the house staff trying to clean the room.

Review 140:It was convenient with good parking
