Reviews for P&J Hotel

Review 1:Shower cleaning could be more thorough, found a few hairs around that weren't mine. Also, water pressure on the shower was very average.

Review 2:Good location. Staff were friendly. Generally a nice place to stay.

Review 3:Nothing; but other hotels of a similar price offer a cooked breakfast included in the price.

Review 4:Good location, clean straight forward hotel and friendly helpful staff

Review 5:The staff were all really nice and friendly. My room was a really good size and the bed was comfy. Walking distance to the university which is where I was visiting.

Review 6:Shared facilities with a guest that was not very clean and I wished that the facilities were cleaned more often. Decor a little bit tired.

Review 7:Helpful and friendly staff

Review 8:Would have preferred a basic breakfast to be included in the price. The decoration needs reviewing as it is 'homely' but dated.

Review 9:Very friendly, helpful staff and flexible in allowing guests to use the dining area in the evening as evening meals were not offered. Nice bar and good to have use of a pool table in the evenings.

Review 10:Single room very basic - lights over basin and kettle did not work - poor reception on TV. Ideal for sleeping though!

Review 11:Hotel staff very friendly - printed off maps of Nottingham Located Hotel easily Parking very convenient Option of light breakfast very suitable

Review 12:Lots of stairs - too many for my elderly parents. Shower more of a dribble

Review 13:Friendly small hotel. Staff attentive. Clean pleasant rooms, all fine. Great location for Queen's Medical Ctr

Review 14:Main road noise. Big cobwebs around bathroom ceiling as a high room.

Review 15:The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Off road parking for free. Good location to get to centre or surrounding areas.Lovely big bedroom with talk trees and sunsets.

Review 16:Free upgrade to ensuite room which was enormous. The receptionist found us some decaff coffee as there wasn't any in the room. Handy for bus routes into city centre.

Review 17:They don't have lift. I am worried if they ever washed their pillow case carefully because I found a pillow case has food dregs on it.

Review 18:Many students live near by. Near to the jubilee campus and king's meadow campus. Buses heading to City Centre can be took cross the road. Sainsbury is few minutes walk from the inn. Cinema is on the second floor of the building which has Sainsbury on the first floor. Service is good.

Review 19:The room is not very clean.

Review 20:Staff are very nice. We booked a triple room for the first few days, then twin room after my son move in to the University Accommodation. To avoid our hassle on changing room, they let u stay at the triple room for the whole period without any extra charge.

Review 21:Paying for breakfast for the price most hotels include it mousey with window open but it is in student area and it was freshers week pity they will be in debt for years

Review 22:Nice little bar in old style hotel

Review 23:I didn't like, and it is always in this houses, very narrow stairs; it is very difficult to climb on with big luggages. Also the wifi rised a lot of isuues as didn't work properly. To split the breakfast in 3 types (even it is the same: traditionally with cofee, thea, toast, gem, butter, sausages and beans) and pay separately ... Sorry but this is not about services it is about how to gain more money. I never see this type of breakfast in England and I am travelling quite a lot.

Review 24:I liked the style, small hotel in a nice part of the town; quite well clean

Review 25:Facilities need refurbishment and updating.

Review 26:Staff are incredibly helpful and resourceful. Right next to the bus stop, Sainsbury's and Jubilee Campus.

Review 27:Convenient, characterful and comfortable. Very clean and easy to find. Free car parking round the back. Very near to the university. Didn't have breakfast but wish we had !

Review 28:Nothing to dislike

Review 29:Very nice room 3 beds just for me! I really liked this room I was moving my son back to university and he will be living just around the corner so may well use again

Review 30:Very dated building and bedroom. Ensuite was like a large wardrobe in the bedroom. No hairdryer. No sound insulation between rooms Breakfast very expensive for what was provided. I will stay with chains in the future.

Review 31:Free parking. On bus routes to the city

Review 32:Shower smelt. Drinks station wobbly. Too many stairs for me.

Review 33:Location was good for university and town.Room was comfortable and excellent value for money.

Review 34:Hot water in the bathroom is not hot enough and water pressure from the shower head is very low.

Review 35:Free parking, friendly staff, clean and reasonable size room

Review 36:The location was perfect for walking into the city centre and for walking the other way to The Queens Medical Hospital where my wife was a patient. The Rose and Crown over the other side of Derby Road was close for a good meal.

Review 37:Breakfast . Had to get someone together the breakfast items.

Review 38:Women at desk nice. Breakfast a little thin. Wifi didn't work in the room I had only in the lounge . Enjoyed drink in lounge

Review 39:Unfortunately our visit to this property was very much an unsatisfied one. We arrived from East Midlands airport late on Friday evening and thus expected some noise in the hotel from those heading into town, but had purposely booked this hotel in the hope we could avoid 'some' of the noise as it was outside of the city centre. Bear in mind I am a student myself and I regularly stay in hostels the world over, so am more than accustomed to, and quite happy with, any state a room might be in or the noise level present to be honest. However, we arrived into our room to find an uncleaned mess of a place with the thinnest walls I've ever come across in a hotel room, made worse by the guests partying in the room opposite till 4am (with no warning from hotel staff whatsoever). The wifi barely worked, the staff wouldn't look you in the eye (I can only assume out of guilt) and for the price, the whole experience was just dreadful. We moved to another hotel for a cheaper price for our remaining nights and it was the best choice we've made in a long time.

Review 40:The location was good if you want to be outside of the town and thus (we had hoped) away from the hustle and bustle and nighttime drunkards.

Review 41:The decor was very dated. I would've liked a full length mirror in the room (we stayed as we were attending a friend's wedding). We were not given any information regarding breakfast options/travel info/ etc. on arrival. In fact the welcome was very brief.

Review 42:The sheets, towels and room were lovely and clean.

Review 43:The young staff both receptionist and chef were extremely enthusiastic and helpful in their roles - nothing was too much trouble, in fact they seemed concerned that everything was fine for us which it was.

Review 44:comfortable and friendly but room 5 needs a little tlc: a lick of paint; cracks repairing. There was hair in the bed too! Wifi didn't work asked in the morning and they said if it's an iPhone you need to use different network. This should be explained on check in.

Review 45:Main road past the hotel produced a lot of noise and you could hear people walking round the hotel on the laminate flooring in all the rooms around you.

Review 46:Hotel location is approx 30min walk to the city centre, good transport links and staff were friendly. I asked to check in earlier than planned and was allowed with no extra charge.

Review 47:Room was small but it was a single room and I still got a double bed so not really a complaint.

Review 48:The staff - particularly the guy and girl who was looking after the hotel on 29th April - 1st may were extremely polite and helpful and genuinely cared that your stay was good. Breakfast - I paid extra for this but well worth it as a lot of food for the price. It's the first hotel outside the university campus. It takes about 10mins to walk to the campus and 20mins further to the East Midlands conference centre in the university campus. Pleasant walk but also lots of buses going to the city centre or into the university campus. For the price it is good, safe, clean and nice staff.

Review 49:Large en suite triple room with single beds was perfect for our group. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful: Andy was ready with advice and recommendations.

Review 50:Comfort level is quite low and some facilities are lacking (WiFi is slow, dodgy desk, no towel rack,...) English breakfast is excessively expensive I did not receive a receipt after having paid upon arrival. When checking out, I had to wait 15 mins. for the receptionist, who was unable to print it and promised to send it via mail. Five days and a reminder later, I am still waiting!

Review 51:Lovely hotel with its proper charm.

Review 52:My complaint is with Booking.com: The confirmation states shared shower room, for one night stay I do not have a problem with that, but nowhere did you indicate that the toilet is also shared - this I was unhappy with.

Review 53:The staff were excellent. The hotel was spotless

Review 54:- my single room with shared bathroom was really small (almost a size of a room)

Review 55:- localization (near to the Jubilee Campus, good access to the city center, shops nearby), - good standard of cleanliness, - good wi-fi signal (1st floor).

Review 56:Just a really nice hotel, with parking and lots of charm and style as opposed to some of the more synthetic and sterile though functional ones in the city centre. I liked it. And it's very affordable.

Review 57:It's pretty dated accommodation and is right in the middle of student zone so expect late night renditions of Bonnie Tuler to wake you at 3.30!

Review 58:I was staying to attend an interview at jubilee campus and it was very close by. I also appreciated free parking.

Review 59:The beds are not in good condition and we all had bad backs. We felt it was too expensive to be a bed but no breakfast and breakfast too expensive. £88 extra for the 4 of us! But worse was the sloppy house keeping. ON the second night we got into bed and the sheet was only pulled up on one side - lazy and we expect a bed to made properly, its pretty basic in a hotel! Dripping taps, heating coming on very high at 2 am and no way to turn down the radiators. WILL NOT BE GOING AGAIN despite its locality to our family.

Review 60:Large rooms and they tried to offer a range of services. Friendly staff,

Review 61:shower ran scalding hot/cold continuously when in use Wifi intermittently dropped out Mobile reception not great in back bedrooms

Review 62:Staff very helpful and friendly Very clean Excellent location for the university Jubilee campus - within walking distance On the go breakfast very good value Parking on site

Review 63:I had such a long day, it was wonderful to arrive at this lovely quiet hotel for an excellent night's sleep. Very convenient for the hospital which I was visiting next day Super value and charming hotel

Review 64:The location was perfect to walk to the city. Cinema close by and the hotel itself was welcoming, clean and with lots of thoughtful touches. A lovely stay, one of many!

Review 65:Bit chintzy. In need up an update. However it was great for our one night stay and great location for uni

Review 66:A received a warm welcome from the guy on the desk. He advised about where to eat and ordered us a cab which was great.

Review 67:Damp on walls, Extremely cold room, staff provided an extra heater for the room however it was useless, no lift, checkout was at 10am, will not be staying here again waste of £59!

Review 68:Location

Review 69:Had to ask for toilet roll and no toiletries in bathroom. Advert for house keeper n chef in window....... Room not very clean, carpet dirty only one towel between us n sheets didn't fit bed. Breakfast £10.95 n really not worth it. Bit ov effort n it would be really nice

Review 70:Staff friendly n overall nice hotel just a couple of things let it down

Review 71:Paid £75 for just a room breakfast was not included. Not worth themoney! The room was for a double as requested but was only provideditems for one person. There were cracks in all walls leading to thecelling. Visible damp patches. The window was broken. One side of thebed broke when layed on. Not worth reporting as this happened when wentto sleep for the evening. The staff at the reception wad taking apersonal call when we arrived and persisted to take personal calls whileshowing us to the car park. Given the choice I would not stay here againand I would advise others not to . What was advertised was far from whatwas offered.

Review 72:The ensuit . Apart from the shower couldn't decide whether it washot or cold!! The location was convenient and suited our needs.

Review 73:Very happy with the way they treatede me and my group of mates throughout our stay. Happy to serve us from bar whenever we were asked, rooms were comfy.

Review 74:There are 2 Derby Roads in Nottingham, one North of the City and the hotel is on the South West side. Wife was not available in the morning. No Breakfast included in my deal.

Review 75:Warm, clean and comfortable. Welcoming staff.

Review 76:My room was situated on the front of the hotel,so allnight heard traffic,,also blinds on window let in the light,so couldnt sleep,

Review 77:Priorter was very helpfull,,loved the furnishers at the hotel, remindered me of home,

Review 78:Home from home

Review 79:Although it is not a modern hotel, the friendly homely feeling is worth so much more. The afternoon tea is excellent home made cakes and scones x were suberb x

Review 80:There was no one to tell how much I loved it when I had to leave at 8.30 in the morning

Review 81:A very pretty, homely, friendly easy to locate hotel. It was clean. comfortable. The breakfast was beautiful. Tea and coffee in the rooms. Yhe layout was charming and quaint. Decor lovely. Bathroom beautiful and the towels were lovely and soft and even lovely smelling shower gel and soap. Loved it.

Review 82:Wifi didn't reach to the third floor of the bedrooms.

Review 83:It was good value for money and within 15 minutes walk to Nottingham university. Centre of Nottingham is a bus journey. This didn't take long. Bedrooms were spacious. There is a pool table in the hotel.

Review 84:A very strong smell of disaffectant throughout hotel was overpowering even in our room at night. Towels too small and had to ask for a second one. Bedside lights too dim and one not working. Really not worth the cost even without breakfast.

Review 85:Had run out of drinking water bottles. Bathroom 2 steps down from bedroom might be a problem in the dark.

Review 86:Staff courteous and helpful. Able to lend me an adaptor for my continental plug. Good breakfast. Room small, but adequate. Hot shower. Efficiently ordered a taxi for me. Reasonably central.

Review 87:Lots of things did not work. No globes in light fittings, hair dryer did not work. The room was serviced very poorly - pulled up bedding without making it, didn't wash cups or replace toilet paper.

Review 88:Wifi connection is very poor, sometimes non existent. Cleanliness is of very poor standards. Toilet never cleaned, no toilet paper - you have to go and ask every time. Beds are done in less than 5 secs very haphazardly. Dustbins never emptied. Staff very unfriendly and unwelcoming. There was a time were we found clothing which wasn't ours in our room!! And our firends in another room found a spanner on the bed! Also, very stuffy rooms.

Review 89:Location is exactly in between university and city centre.

Review 90:Very expensive for a very basic room.. Breakfast not included in the cost.. I've stayed in Nottingham slot but would properly not stay again unless I really had to., I've stayed in cheaper hotels with better facilites and included breakfast.. Friendly staff but other residents were shouting in the morning..

Review 91:Friendly staff.. Nice building downstairs

Review 92:Convenient to town center and reasonable priced. It was very clean and staff were very helpful. Decor is dated but that did not bother us. Would definitely use it again when in Nottingham

Review 93:House keeper left her keys and a towel in the room. They forgot to put another set of towel in the bathroom. The noise from the street makes it difficult to sleep at night if you have the windows open.

Review 94:Excellent location 5 minutes walk from Sainsbury Close to a cinema Prime location for Riverside Point apartment

Review 95:The Wi-Fi was causing problems for us and at least three other guests. I suggest that the hotel provides a PC in the downstairs sitting room with direct access by cable to the Internet. The other annoying thing was a late arrival constanly buzzing the doorbell in the small hours of the morning. Eventually somenoe opened the door.

Review 96:We wre visiting teh Queen Mary hospital and the university, which were a scarce 10 minutes walk away. The rooms were spacious with excellent sound-proofing. The brearkfast was good and the three staff members we met were all very efficient and friendly, especially in the kitchen at breakfast time

Review 97:There was nothing we did not like ... it was as expected and everything worked out first rate

Review 98:It was ideal for our visit ... the staff were friendly and ensured our stay was first rate

Review 99:The rooms could be a bit more comfortable, especially the bathroom

Review 100:The hotel is nice if you have to be near the universities Jubilee Campus. Into the city it is a 30min walk or a 10min bus ride

Review 101:I can't think of any thing negative to say .

Review 102:I thought that was a very nice place to stay because it was close to the city centre, comfortable, clean, and the staff were very friendly.

Review 103:shared bathroom is fine but it would be better if there was an additional toilet in case someone is in the shower

Review 104:comfortable bed quiet at night homely atmosphere - felt safe

Review 105:Our room was facing onto the main road which is very noisy. Fortunately the double glazing cut the noise down but it meant the room got stuffy

Review 106:Clean, spacious room, friendly and courteous staff. Good DIY breakfast

Review 107:Shared bathroom , toilet. Small, tight car park, scruffy room. The other reviews must be written by friends of the owners. If you're on a tight budget and don't mind sharing a bathroom, ok. However, there is better.

Review 108:Near to city, 10 minute walk.

Review 109:It is a bit far away from the city centre, but there is a bus stop just in front of the hotel. Reasonable bus service prices.

Review 110:The building is so nice and the room was lovely, huge and the bed massive. The staff was really helpful.

Review 111:WiFi connection was far from brilliant in our room - partly the reason why we ventured down to the lounge to do our homework!

Review 112:Rooms were bright, clean and airy, staff were extremely helpful and friendly, breakfasts yummy, lounge/tv area was a great place to relax in the evening. We stayed for 5 nights while attending a course at the University of Nottingham Jubilee Campus.

Review 113:The yoghurt served at breakfast was room temperature and didn't appear to have been refrigerated at all.

Review 114:This is an older style hotel/guesthouse but very comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful. I needed to use an iron and a staff member went out of her way to locate one for me.

Review 115:Situated on a busy road. Since the weather was hot, we had to leave the windows open all the time, so we got all the traffic noise. If only there were ceiling or wall fans, we could then shut the windows.

Review 116:Friendly owners and easy walk to Cente of town for shops and restaurants.

Review 117:Strange collection of mis-matched fittings in the bathroom. Cheap furniture in the bedroom. Missing cups and milk in room.

Review 118:Close to our daughter's house and easy access to bus route.

Review 119:Our room overlooked the busy main road and so we were disturbed with the traffic particularly in the morning.

Review 120:The staff were very friendly and we had everything we needed.

Review 121:Only had 1 towel but was ok for 1 night. Breakfast was a bit slow and we were in a hurry to leave- but think they were a bit short staffed however the breakfast spread was lovely and our daughter was allowed to join us.

Review 122:Requested a double room and on arrival were shown to a flat- all self-catered - a kitchen bedroom lounge and separate bathroom and bedroom . Lots of space, lovely and cool but did smell a bit musty but the owner did say that it needed airing . Had a good nights sleep. Space for parking which was good. Had our own key to come and go. My daughter has recommended to her friends. We enjoyed our stay. Good value for money.

Review 123:Appalling and indifferent individual manning reception on arrival, who insisted we had only booked one room, not two. 'Found' second room was available once confirmation receipt was produced. No information given regarding pre-ordering breakfast. So next morning, we were faced with a grumpy and complaining lady in the kitchen, as she wasn't expecting us (or several other customers). The building has very apparent serious structural cracks in walls and ceilings, which have been painted over. An interesting building, spoilt by an eclectic mix of ornaments and a strange collection of furniture styles which have been thrown together.

Review 124:Location to the university Free parking

Review 125:Jukebox in games room wasn't working, showers in room a bit temperamental, breakfast a bit too pricey although standard hotel price, no more expensive.

Review 126:Unique and personal. Lovely B & B feel rather than a typical hotel. Good staff, nice rooms. Liked the pool table, bar, tea room. Great location, helpful informaion. Extremely clean and tidy

Review 127:They didn't have our booking details from booking.com when I arrived. Waited 30 min to finally be designated a room and I had booked it 2 months ago. Fire alarm started going off in the morning due to a "fault ". Went on and off for half an hour. Extremely loud and disruptive and I had to go downstairs to enquire about reasons for this. Breakfast was an extra charge so didn't bother. Bathroom door opened against a tiny sink.

Review 128:Fairly quiet despite being on a busy street. Handy to University campus

Review 129:Room at front of hotel right on main road only had thin cutains and a shutter blind so the room was very light at night and very noisy.

Review 130:Friendly and helpful reception staff.

Review 131:Low bed in room 6 kettle needs replacing looks rather stained

Review 132:Regular visitor to p and j best room is 22

Review 133:Nothing

Review 134:Mum ill at local hospital ..staff are amazing ..thank you so much

Review 135:The room looks nice and is clean and tidy. The staff here are really nice and helpful.
