Reviews for Abbey Court Hotel

Review 1:Nothing to dislike .

Review 2:Check out time is midday , not like many other local hotels . Room and bed were comfortable . Breakfast was very nice . I would definately stay again .

Review 3:Without providing any details we should like to record our thanks for the very honourable way in which the owner of this Hotel dealt with us. It was a pleasure to find a businessman with such "old school" values

Review 4:No hot water for two mornings in a row and the room had a piece of coving falling down. I was offered and accepted moving to another room which had no problems other than the en suite being very tight on space - I am 6' 4"! First mattress was also too hard.

Review 5:The staff were very helpful despite there being a few problems. Good breakfasts

Review 6:Bed was a bit soft ... And towels very small . But nit picking as we were very happy there.

Review 7:Price great and room clean, well appointed and spacious. Ample parking. Walking distance to Town ( but taxi up again ! ) great choice at breakfast

Review 8:Location was good. Breakfast convenient and tasty. Appreciated the wifi and the bathtub. As mother and adult daughter travellers we were pleased that twin beds were available.

Review 9:The room was located on the car park at the front of the hotel on a busy junction. It was extremely noisy late at night and very early in the morning. Consequently no sleep quality at all. As a mature couple we did not like the toilet/washing facilities being open plan and without doors. We prefer privacy.

Review 10:The hotel was very clean and modern and offered good facilities. The staff were friendly and amenable.

Review 11:Location: Up a steep hill from town (however: 2 min to nearest bus stop)

Review 12:Room: spacious, clean, every comfort Breakfast: abundant, excellent quality Staff: very polite Free shuttle service to airport Free use of computer/internet in lounge

Review 13:Needing to climb 36 steps to my room Shower room door did not open wide (as basin too big for space) No opportunity to purchase food in evening

Review 14:Breakfast was fine

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:The hotel is fantastic, really clean, excellent breakfast and the staff go out of their way to help you. When we couldn't get a taxi to the airport they gave us a complimentary lift. Would certainly stay again if we return to Guernsey and would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 17:Location 20 minutes walk up a hill from St Peter Port harbour (but on a bus route). Some traffic noise from front facing rooms but calms down during the evening.

Review 18:Clean, spacious room with a good breakfast Onsite parking. Value for money hotel.

Review 19:Noisy bathroom extractor (in common with many other hotels)

Review 20:Relaxed and friendly staff and management. Very helpful when we had to extend our stay due to ferry breakdown. Clean and spacious room.

Review 21:WiFi became a bit weak in dining room but still worked if position accordingly.

Review 22:My booking was slightly messed but they had realised prior to my arrival and put in place a very acceptable corrective plan which did mean staying elsewhere 1 night but as dropped off and collected luggage there was hardly any inconvenience.

Review 23:My friend and I had two ground floor rooms (doubles for single use) and they were extremely spacious with really comfortable beds, duvets and pillows. The staff are very helpful and the breakfasts extremely tasty. We liked the outside space to get fresh air etc. It was very helpful to have the courtesy mini-bus to take us to the airport or drop us down in to St. Peter Port.

Review 24:The toilet paper.

Review 25:All in all a very well situated hotel, a very good stay with very helpful staff. The hotel is situated about 10 to 15 mins walk from the sea front and on good bus routes.

Review 26:The breakfast was disappointing with sugary muesli and no natural yoghurt mostly toffee or strawberry creamy Muller and no fruit salad only diy fresh fruit which is not very good without sharp knives. I don't usually have a cooked breakfast but in the absence of my usual I chose poached eggs which came on soggy vinegar- water soaked toast. My husband said the English cooked breakfast was good. It is a shame as everything else about the hotel was very good.

Review 27:We were allowed into the room as soon as we arrived at 1 o'clock A courtesy car was provided to take us back to the airport. Our room was spacious and well-furnished

Review 28:Great family room which has annex off main room for the 2 children's beds. Very clean. Great breakfasts, helpful staff. Free lift to airport from manager when available.

Review 29:Excellent value for money. Friendly, helpful staff and able to get a very good sandwich when I checked in at something after 8 in the evening. Very close to town and on the bus route. Definitely my first choice in future and I would recommend to friends.

Review 30:Facilities are little less, an oven in room would do a lot, some veg breakfast menu will be better

Review 31:Hotel staff is helping in nature, room was neat, very nice, hotel owner was nice.

Review 32:Distance from town, reasonable walk if fit. Dated decor, some peeling wallpaper.

Review 33:Hearty breakfast. Wifi in rooms. Good, hot bath/shower. 10 minute walk to Waitrose.

Review 34:On my first morning I made myself some toast to go with my scrabbled egg and salmon. I was disappointed to find after I had toasted it that the bread was mouldy. I pointed this out to the waitress who just said OK. She did not apologise or offer to get me a replacement, she did however remove the offending loaf from the breakfast buffet. I reported this to the receptionist in the evening he also said OK and did not offer an apology. I reported this again when I paid my bill and this time I did get an apology but overall I thought it was a poor response from the initial waitress. Also it would be pleasant to be greeted with a 'good morning' when you enter the breakfast room.

Review 35:A comfortable hotel which is very clean. A good location for using the local buses. A good supply of refreshments and towels in the bedroom.

Review 36:Staff very helpful and considerate. Very attentive to guests, and requests dealt with promptly with a smile. We all enjoyed our stay and will happily return.

Review 37:All super!

Review 38:I was given a warm friendly welcome, and helped with my luggage to a lovely room - all fresh and clean. The friendliness continued throughout my stay from all staff giving a nice atmosphere throughout the hotel.

Review 39:Brilliant staff that couldn't do enough for you. If you need to go anywhere on the Island, just ask for a lift and they will take you there and pick up if they can :) Breakfasts for all tastes and appetites. Cooked to order. Very comfortable beds and excellent room facilities. Towels changed daily. Deserves far more than the official 2 star rating.

Review 40:We had some noise from the room below ours, as the weather was hot we needed our windows open at night. This was unfortunate, but we still enjoyed our stay.

Review 41:The hotel was exceptionally clean throughout our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the property is nicely situated for exploring the town. The lounge, garden and bar were very nice, especially when the weather was good.

Review 42:Difficult to find staff of you needed them as unmanned reception but phone was there If you needed any one. Nothing is complain about - great value for money! Would definitely return.

Review 43:Liked the feel of the place, quite quiet but spacious, lounge well equipped, nice garden to sit in. Very comfortable top bedroom - basic enough but everything I needed and very cosy bed!

Review 44:The hotel running out of beer & 1 very rude Portuguese female bus driver!

Review 45:Being somewhere new, meeting new people of all nationalities. Having a new life experience. The island was stunning. A fantastic stay!

Review 46:Nothing really only parking can be problematic but it's ok some people don't know how to park properly it's not the hotels fault! There were only afew minimum staff some obviously not from Yorkshire , not exactly the Yorkshire welcoming board but efficient and helpful. They could learn to smile and learn the art of conversation even if their English is weak the only way to improve is to use it.The reception staff were helpful and professional .perhaps they need training days up in Yorkshire to learn friendliness lessons as part of their pr training.

Review 47:Good clean hotel ,facilities and food.

Review 48:Excellent service all around. Owner offered laundry facilities, which we gratefully accepted. Also transportation downtown, but we preferred walking.

Review 49:Rather characterless... most period details gone. Decor not to everyone's taste. 'Garden' just a mowed lawn. Noise from people drinking outside. Exhaust fan from kitchen. Doors have to bang shut to lock. Island FM radio booming at breakfast.

Review 50:Wonderful shower...hot water and pressure. Spacious room. Was picked up at ferry terminal.

Review 51:Our only complaint being the T V reception was not always good. The signal was intermittent at times on some channels.

Review 52:The room was basic but adequate. Cleanliness was of a very high standard. With a good variety breakfast menu.

Review 53:The owner is dedicated to giving every guest a good experience. He drove some of us to the German Occupation Museum, and he drove me to the Ferry when I left. The breakfast is exceptional in variety and abundance. I enjoyed this hotel, but it is quite a way from the tourist sites.

Review 54:TV reception was poor, even BBC only worked 50% of the time.

Review 55:Excellent value for money. £60 on a bank holiday with full breakfast, wi-fi, hot shower. Decent location, 10 mins downhill walk to port, 15 mins uphill back. Quiet location.

Review 56:I heard a lot of noise above me and one morning outside the door. I think it was that particular room though that got a lot of noise from people coming in and out.

Review 57:Great location away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown. Staff is super friendly and airport transportation was hugely helpful. Bring your own toiletries though!

Review 58:location was a bit of a hike but right on bus route so no problem.

Review 59:great breakfast, try the omelettes. room was large, clean, no complaints. All staff very helpful.

Review 60:WiFi was patchy but owner was surprised so maybe I was just unlucky - I was working so I did not use it much.

Review 61:Clean, comfortable, plenty of breakfast - got my Gluten Free stuff in for me.

Review 62:Approx 15 min walk uphill from harbour, not ideal when you dont have a car. There are two restaurants that's near the hotel, not much food options.

Review 63:Cook hot breakfast with options. Clean room and friendly staffs.

Review 64:Noise - I think there was some building work going on next door.

Review 65:Helpful staff. Clean and spacious room. Approx. 10 mins walk to St Peter Port or £4/£5 in taxi.

Review 66:Two and a bit flights of stairs but this worked the breakfast off!

Review 67:Good size room with en suite, good choice of breakfast, able to request fresh milk for tea in room. Friendly staff.

Review 68:Rooms were tired and the floor boards from the room above were very noisy and in fact woke us in the morning. Staff were OK but not as friendly as everyone else we meet in Guernsey.

Review 69:Beds were very comfortable.

Review 70:Very noisy in the early hours of Sunday.

Review 71:Room Comfortable and a good breakfast. Staff when you could find them very helpful.Very close to area of St Peter Port we required.

Review 72:Bit aloof staff. We were quietly having a beer at the bar and the staff person just left the building without saying anything let alone offer a last round.

Review 73:Comfortable bed, coffee maker

Review 74:Basic rooms and a few things a bit tired but no complaints based on the price.

Review 75:A comfortable bed A good breakfast Effifient staff A bar A lounge with good tv Excellent shower

Review 76:Short, pleasant walk dowhill to shops and business area. Basic requirements of comfortable bed, TV, Wifi, clean bathroom and decent breakfast all met.

Review 77:Difficult to fill kettle with small sink in bathroom. Would be nice to have a light above mirror in room or above dressing table.

Review 78:Lovely spacious room, plenty of drawers, wardrobe/hanging space, outstanding choice for breakfast, good hotel info in room, plenty of tea/coffee/milk pots in room, great comfy bed, good temperature in room. Very helpfull, friendly staff.

Review 79:Everything was excellent even though we were only staying here 1 night. The staff were friendly and courteous and very helpful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The hotel itself was also excellent and nicely decorated. Could not fault it in anyway

Review 80:english satnav could not find the road, not the hotels fault. phoned the hotel and they gave me good directions

Review 81:staff very helpful, food in pub opposite very good

Review 82:the steep walk from St Peter Port to the hotel !

Review 83:Lovely comfortable bed and pillows. Rooms very clean. Room service excellent. Breakfast good. Liked that we could get fresh milk for tea and coffee in our room. Fresh fruit !

Review 84:good location, a ten minute walk into town, clean and spacious bedroom with comfortable bed, helpful staff, good breakfast, value for money. What's not to like?

Review 85:I need an invoice so I can claim my money back for my stay. I was told by two different members of staff that it couldn't be given to me on site and again on checkout was told it would be emailed to me that day. I'm still waiting. 0 stars for customer service. This really was/is the most basic request of a business.

Review 86:Large rooms, decent price good breakfast.

Review 87:Nothing to comment on

Review 88:Easy walk into town. £1.00 Bus ride back up the hill. Loads of Buses stop at the top of the Grange. The Hotel may be 2 star but perfect for a quiet weekend away. Staff always around or easy to contact

Review 89:I thought the day I had poached eggs for breakfast and one of the eggs had no yolk was a bit odd! Maybe we just cook in a different way.

Review 90:Close to everything we required. The town was easy to walk to and from. The bus was handy if needed, and the 2 hotels for evening meals were good.I left my earings on the last day and Ian drove out to the airport with them, that was great. Thanks Jen

Review 91:It was difficult to get a rapour with the breakfast staff as I feel they were young and a little on the shy side.

Review 92:Our room was spacious and very comfortable. There was a variety of Breakfast options and the staff very helpful and polite. Our questions on how to get about were answered and helpful.

Review 93:One small gripe - breakfast was served until 10.00, but on 3 out of 4 occasions the croissants etc. had disappeared by 9.00.

Review 94:Our first visit to Guernsey was certainly enhanced by our stay at this hotel. The owner was friendly, and went out of his way to help with any queries we had, including a query on which bus to catch from the airport before we even arrived. The rooms were very clean, with a spotless bathroom. Breakfast choice was varied, cooked to order, and of a high quality. The hotel is right on the bus route which will take you into town, to the other side of the island, or to the airport for the amazing price of £1 per journey (Sept 2014).

Review 95:We had two very comfortable single rooms, the staff could not have been more helpful - there were a lot of extra touches to make our stay as easy and relaxing as possible. Delicious breakfasts and car parking as well as being close to bus stops. Highly recommended.

Review 96:Nothing really to complain about. The bar could be better attended by staff in the evenings, but it did save me some money!

Review 97:Room was nice and clean. Very comfy bed. Good choice of food at breakfast. Plenty of eating places nearby. Close to a bus stop where several routes pick up, so a good choice of destinations to choose from.

Review 98:Easy to miss hotel as it lies back from road at a junction

Review 99:The room was of a good size and nicely decorated everything was in working order, with a large walk in shower. Breakfast was also good. Location suited where I wanted to be and parking was also available off road

Review 100:Did not like open plan room. Did not like the ground floor room as you hear every footstep from the room above. There was also a damp problem in the room, wallpaper has mould growing on it near window and door.

Review 101:Choice at breakfast and service. Location good within walking distance of town. Helpful staff, nice garden and lounges.

Review 102:bed wasn't comfortable. Poor welcome (no offer of local map, or directions into centre etc.) Staff didn't seem to be around. For the price I'd have expected far better.

Review 103:Location just out of town centre. Breakfast was good with a good selection

Review 104:No staff, had to keep calling a mobile number to get someone at reception. Waited for ages at the bar, got bored and went out.

Review 105:Good bed, room a good size

Review 106:Lack of tv channels available in bedroom and poor quality of picture, also remote control not the easiest to use as tended to stick a bit. Location of room meant street noise during night, specially early Wednesday morning.

Review 107:Cleanliness Relaxed atmosphere Helpfulness of staff

Review 108:The room was comfortable and a good size. The breakfast was nice and always served quickly. We were shown to our room straight away and were given a key to the front door so that we could come back as late as we liked.

Review 109:My room was a single, small but comfortable and very clean. The only thing I didn't like is that the lower part of my window was fixed and with frosted glass. I wish I could have opened the window fully and had a view.

Review 110:The location is excellent, well communicated and about 15 minutes walk to St Peter's Port. The beds are really comfortable and the place is very quite at night. Very good choice for breakfast. A very good experience.

Review 111:The frosted glass window in the bedroom, too short a curtain. The lack of welcome when I arrived, I was early and told quite clearly that I should have known that if I had read my paperwork, I had but I had a lift to the hotel that was too good to miss.

Review 112:The location, the cleanliness and a good quality breakfast. A good supply of tea etc. in the room. A good television. Plentiful supply of hot water.

Review 113:The room was light , a good size and very clean . The breakfast was excellent , really good choice of food and cooked well . Location good if you don't mind walking uphill to the hotel . Good exercise after the good food .

Review 114:Curtains are very thing and the light comes in early!

Review 115:The pancakes with bacon and syrup for breakfast are a must!! We had a family room which had a separate section for the children which was great. Very clean, including the bathroom, and perfectly fine for our needs.

Review 116:Top floor(pensioner) male staff internet had no printer I was not allowed to use reception printer for return boarding pass(travelled extensively it has never been a problem) such a small thing such a big attitude!!

Review 117:everything except

Review 118:The fixed shower in the en-suite shower room.

Review 119:The tranquility of the location and in the hotel. The helpfulness of the staff and their attitude towards guests.

Review 120:Staff were not very friendly. Reception Staff very good. Breakfast staff very solem, not very pleasant or friendly.

Review 121:Hotel nice and handy. Facilities very good. Breakfast very good

Review 122:a little more guest interaction from the young staff at breakfast....no smiles or "good morning" to greet your entrance or showing you to your seat just simply "what do you want for eat?" small point but that is the only negative I could find on an otherwise excellent choice of stay

Review 123:quiet location and suntrap of a well kept garden, the rooms were bright, modern, comfortable and spotless, lounge area felt like a spacious gentlemans club with the motor race pictures and the comfy leather sofas, price to stay here was very reasonable.....certainly would be happy to return!

Review 124:When I asked if there were bar snacks available (as stated in the room manual) I was given a bus timetable! The hotel advertises that they are served by 7 bus routes with a bus in to town every 11 minutes. All true but on a Sunday it is every 30 minutes and the last bus is at 2000 from town.

Review 125:The room was bigger than most singles I've experienced.

Review 126:I love walking so i didn't mind but it's about 1km from central St Peter Port up a bit of a hill - you can get buses from town to a stop about 50m away though.

Review 127:Staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was pretty big - huge, comfortable bed also! Great value as most of the other hotels were so expensive - this is pretty well priced.

Review 128:no lift - no room telephone which would have been useful on top floor - no response to reception phone when trying to book in; had to wander round trying to attract someone's attention.

Review 129:very quiet - proximity to bus stops and town

Review 130:As I was located in one of the front bedrooms, there was a lot of traffic noise which I am un-used to.

Review 131:Local was ideal to visit my friends in the area.

Review 132:Parking was an issue at times.

Review 133:Comfortable, spacious room, nice bar/lounge area and garden for baby to run around. Lovely breakfasts, great location.

Review 134:Shower head requires maintenance (Descale)

Review 135:Good value Room was clean with fresh towels daily
