Reviews for The Pear Tree Inn & Country Hotel

Review 1:The hotel looks very tired and needs a facelift. About 3 people in the bar, a bit like faulty towers!!! I think it's in the wrong place at the end of a long winding country lane. Probably nice venue for weddings, but bedrooms are so dated with awful furniture and looks like a 1970 s step back in time!

Review 2:The cheap deal they offered

Review 3:The bog standard fixed in the draw hotel curly chord hair drier stopped working half way though drying my hair before a Christmas party so we had to ask the staff for a new one. Also the room was a little shabby and in need of modernisation. It was pretty clean but was in need of maintenance to look properly cared for. The bathroom certainly needed some work.

Review 4:The breakfast and staff were lovely. We had a few issues on our stay but the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room was a very decent size.

Review 5:Breakfast - average: chefs need to learn how to cook an egg: everything else superb Waitress at breakfast needs to be present more and understand how to waitress

Review 6:Huge hotel Good bedrooms Extremely courteous staff Good food Superb parrot!

Review 7:The heating in the whole hotel could have been warmer by a few degrees, oUr dinner guests commented it was a bit chilly in the restaurant and bar. We asked about morning papers but were told "No, we are in the middle of nowhere!"

Review 8:It was clean and the staff were pleasant.

Review 9:Meals always late. Had to wait one hour for evening meal and half hour for breakfast. We ordered a newspaper which never came. Some staff hardly spoke English

Review 10:Room sub standard, breakfast overcooked, air conditioning kept us awake most of the evening!! Really disappointed

Review 11:Staff friendly, very courteous and helpful

Review 12:The room was very tired bordering on shabby. Room 103. There was a couple of functions going on therefore was a little noisy.

Review 13:Despite going along a narrow lane to reach the property it was in a good location. Breakfast was quite good although a little on the cool side.

Review 14:I paid in advance at check in due to leaving early the next morning. I have asked for a copy of the bill twice, verbally and by email - still waiting for a response. Poor customer service.

Review 15:Decor was a little dated and in places looking a bit tatty. Breakfast only served until 10am on a Sunday.

Review 16:Location was handy for the motorway and city centre.

Review 17:The hotel is looking just a little run down. A bit of TLC required here and there.

Review 18:The restaurant menu was rather more varied than might have been expected and the food was excellent.

Review 19:Under staffed and complete focus on a wedding with 1 staff member left to deal with the entire guest collective not at the wedding. We were not informed that a wedding would be happening that day, it was particularly noisy and we had to wait late into the eveing to eat.

Review 20:Really friendly staff

Review 21:We were a party of six booked in the restaurant for 7.30pm. At 7pm, while waiting to be served at the bar (no sign of any staff) we overheard another party being told that no orders would be taken before 8.30pm as the chefs were too busy with the wedding party and charity dinner taking place elsewhere in the hotel. There were at least four other parties affected by this news. It was left to Jason, the waiter/barman, to explain and apologise for the delay to customers, some of whom had made reservations two to three weeks earlier. In my view it should have been the duty of the manager to do this and to take the flak! As a result the situation was chaotic despite Jason's valiant attempts to provide good service. He is to be commended for how well he coped on his own both serving at the bar and waiting on the tables of those who did not go elsewhere. Well done Jason!!

Review 22:Pleasant location, very comfortable bed and the food was excellent....the beef duo and the Gressington duck in particular were very good!

Review 23:Bed very uncomfortable, rooms very tired, radiator missing in bath room with mould in the tiling grout. Condition of bed very very poor. Breakfast staff ...lost for words Check out staff did not ask if the stay was ok, as i didnt sleep i could not be bothered to complain. Faulty plug points....the list goes on. A major investment has been made in burgundy carpet with "Pear Tree Hotel" logo running through out the common areas....making sure you cannot forget where you are incarcerated.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:Restaurant facilities. Dinner offered same specials on consecutive nights and on 2 occasions they had run out of items requested. Tv needed retuning 4 times in 2 evenings

Review 26:Good accommodation and very helpful receptionists

Review 27:Pleasant staff comfortable surroundings. I came to breakfast about six minutes before closing and they were still happy to make me eggs Benedict without visual annoyance.

Review 28:Don't blindly follow the satnav - watch out for the brown road signs!!!

Review 29:Excellent, friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Also fantastic food, clean and comfy rooms, all in a convenient location just outside Worcester. Hope to stay again soon.

Review 30:The room was unwelcoming with a dark wood wardrobe, musty smelling carpet and wooden windows which were steamed up. The shower leaked and the water level took ages to drain. I rang reception in the evening to book a taxi and I rang quite a few times as no one picked the phone up. The location for me is a little too far out of the way if you are going to Worcester town centre.

Review 31:The building itself was nice from the outside.

Review 32:Tea/coffee facility was poor in the room. Kettle did not boil unless you manually kept the switch on and not enough tea and milk. Bird in bar/restaurant was too noisy.

Review 33:The room was a good size. The beds were very comfortable.

Review 34:Not alot really, it was just a little tired in places. Nothing a bit of freshening up and decorating wouldn't sort though.

Review 35:Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 36:Very grotty. Carpet needs repairing, broken bath handle, unsafe plugs, bulb in lamp not working, hairs in the room - and a screeching parrot at breakfast etc etc. Staff at breakfast absent at first, then surly. No one available to check us out, although someone else helpfully suggested a way round.

Review 37:The food was excellent - dinner and breakfast both delicious (except the coffee!). Evening staff - two young men - absolutely charming.

Review 38:No biscuits, as is so often - not enough tea, milk, sugar etc in room. Breakfast was a big let down, mainly due to inattentive staff.

Review 39:Overall room standard and staff.

Review 40:The room (101) fell far short of what should be expected. Kind and polite complaint to manager was attended to.

Review 41:The meals were lovely. Service was splendid. Surroundings attractive.

Review 42:Indifferent greeting from female receptionist. Suite 214,tiny bathroom, stains on sofas, water stains and mould on bedroom wall, rubbish down back of sofas,TV needed complete rebooting every time it was switched on,bulbs not working, air conditioning doesn't work. Useless toaster at breakfast, staff busy talking to each other ignoring guests, other than that, fine!

Review 43:Comfortable bed, plenty of room, helpful and friendly male receptionist.

Review 44:We stayed in room 218 and you needed clampons to get into bed, complete new mattress DESPERATELY needed. = NO SLEEP so disappointed.

Review 45:Extremely friendly, pleasant, helpful staff. Beautiful property and grounds.

Review 46:Asked staff prior to booking hotel and when arrived at hotel about closing times of bar however went down at 10.40pm and bar closed when I was told closed at 11-11.30pm Also room a bit old fashioned and no-one at reception on arrival

Review 47:Hotel clean and friendly staff

Review 48:did not like were the tea and coffee facilities were as it was a bit dark, and the light wasn.t working as you came out the bathroom, complained over it but no one came ,but as we were only staying one night,we for so that,

Review 49:plenty of room in the bedroom

Review 50:Only decaf coffee in our room and not enough milk capsules, however staff gave us a jug of milk on request. Restaurant too bright and impersonal, parrot very noisy.

Review 51:Lovely location, friendly staff, good sized room. Very nice meal in the restaurant.

Review 52:The bathroom sink was cracked. The sealing on the shower curtain had perished so that after using the shower the bathroom floor was soaking wet. No toilet brush. The wall paper in the room was coming away from the wall in one place. The room didn't not mirror the exterior image of the hotel

Review 53:Staff friendly and helpful. Good location.

Review 54:Could do with a few more comfortable seats in the bar area. Room could do with redecorating, but was clean.

Review 55:Good location and large car park. Friendly staff . Amusing parrot. Spacious room.

Review 56:Our room was a makeshift room. Had an overhead projector screen attached to one wall. No mirror in bedroom at all. No hairdryer. Food in restaurant was sent back - couldn't eat it.

Review 57:Near M5.

Review 58:On our last night we invited guests and dined later than the previous three nights. It had been fairly busy, fewer and different staff were on and service was slow. After the starters, there was a vast delay, then we were asked to order desserts. It seems our mains had been overlooked, and, when they came, seemed to have dried up and were disappointing. The room was fine but the bathroom extractor fan didn't work, so mirrors fogged up. We told the receptionist about these at checkout. The location is marred by the approach by a long narrow unlit lane with a sharp blind bend over a humpback bridge. This would be much safer if a mirror were provided.

Review 59:Apart from points noted above, friendly and efficient service, good food, generous parking and well-planned facilities. Excellent value. A big plus was the provision of three chairs in the room.

Review 60:Really flaky Internet connection, they seem to be using one of t-mobile's hotspots. Bandwidth was really poor and it was breaking all the time, very frustrating.

Review 61:Quiet neighborhood but sort of still close to Worcester, I was there during Indian summer so the plains were crisp green and the tree colors just amazing, good time for a visit. Talking parrot down at the bar was a plus :)

Review 62:How this hotel is rated so high is a mystery. It is run down, dirty, understaffed and not somewhere I would ever return to. Booking.comshould research their ratings.

Review 63:The room was tired ... Needed a bit of tlc , minor cleanliness issues in the bathroom like discoloured grouting and a few stray hairs .

Review 64:The room price was very low , free parking and wifi ( although there were some issues with streaming )

Review 65:The hotel is in a brilliant position for Rugby, Racing and Cricket and, of course, all the historic sights of Worcester. Excellent staff, brilliant room decent restaurant, all you want really for a top stay.

Review 66:Hot water very poor on arrival- surely in this day and age we can all shower? What about at least a simple gym? Local roads are single track and not that safe for runners

Review 67:Close to motorway, but could be a million miles away. Peaceful after a long day.

Review 68:TV wasn't tuned in had to request it be done took some time. Spare pillows were uncovered and disgusting needed throwing away. Wallpaper pealing and net curtains mouldy. Mirror in bathroom needed cleaning. Beds very hard. Restaurant, cold no heating food very disappointing Vegetable curry no veg just full of peppers.

Review 69:nothing only good location for M5 stopover

Review 70:Poorly signposted at a junction. We missed a turn.

Review 71:We liked it's location, the food was good and the staff friendly. Helped us carry our bags down in the morning.

Review 72:Not much better than a Travelodge; basic and comfortable so depends on what you need

Review 73:Nice staff who were helpful when I ran out of toothpaste. Phoned after I left too as the receipt had not arrived

Review 74:Strident loud conversation in bar which is very close to restaurant that even put Joey, the resident parrot out of business!

Review 75:Jason at Reception always friendly & helpful Scott behind the bar along with Joey the parrot entertaining! Comfy room & Good food

Review 76:Our room was 'tired' and in a need of refreshing. Used towels were found in the wardrobe! And breakfast choices were reduced as there were no eggs in the kitchen!

Review 77:Location

Review 78:Not a lot - only that the property took a little finding.

Review 79:Pretty much everything. Staff were super, even witnessing them dealing with a drunk and out-of-order Customer in a professional and reasonable manner.

Review 80:the bathroom was dirty ,black hairs all over the walls ,toilet kept flushing continuously all night ,no cold water to washbasin tap ,no light above tea making area ,no tea bags or bottle water ,dirty mark on bed sheets ,night time meal fish full of bones breakfast seemed to be left a long time before being served 3 other couples came in after us and served before us

Review 81:not a lot this was our third time staying but the worst will never stop here again

Review 82:There seemed to be a shortage of staff, long wait in the rather cold dining room for both evening meal & breakfast. Husband disappointed in the quality of the bitter.

Review 83:Lovely setting & grounds.Staff friendly & welcoming. Comfortable room.

Review 84:Poor attention at bar stood waiting for quite a while also overcharged for drinks and also found to be extortionate pricing especially as we had the food and drinks added to our tab to pay on departure. Not until we arrived home and checked our expenses that we called the hotel to complain which they then credited us the difference. Not the best of stays will seriously consider a simple homely B and B next time.

Review 85:Location was ideal Access good

Review 86:On a midweek evening I was asked to book a table for dinner in advance, it took two hours from start to finish for a main course and dessert to be served, shocking. The main was so small in size I ended up ordering a starter to replace the dessert!

Review 87:The guy who served our breakfast was a pain, waited ages to be served, then he served everyone extra coffee and left me out even after I had politely asked for another cup not good at all.

Review 88:The foo was very good

Review 89:Staff where very helpful, especially Jason at reception, really helped us with the motorbike to find a secure place away from the main car park, and don't let us forget joey the friendly bird, who kept everyone amused in the bar, especially at breakfast.and thanks for the upgraded room.

Review 90:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 91:All the staff were lovely, room and bathroom very clean, WiFi good reception, great breakfast. My husband was ill so could not accompany me at last minute, I didn't feel uncomfortable on my own.

Review 92:The hoel is generally looking a bit tired. A facelift and would be excellent

Review 93:The beds really comfortable. Breakfast freshly cooked to order was fab. The restaurant food was excellent. The staff friendly and helpful.

Review 94:The staff were not helpful at all. There was a function on and the music was so loud our room was bouncing! I rang reception to ask when the noise would stop and toaskfir some assistance, not much help.... I complained the following morning to receive a less than positive resolution to my complaint... Basically 'well we have functions here all the time what did you expect? '

Review 95:Bed very hard and two singles pushed together horrible. Booked an evening meal we were the only 2 in the restaurant but waited over 30 minutes for our meal and it wasn't worth the wait in fact we didn't eat it. Breakfast in the morning the same nothing replenished and full English poor plate full of grease - disgusting.

Review 96:nothing

Review 97:The bar prices were a bit steep. The parrot one morning screeched a bit, the other morning she was quite entertaining. We asked for rooms away from the motorway, and we were glad we did. These rooms were very quiet, but it may not be the same on the other side of the hotel.

Review 98:Very pleasant hotel that has had a recent refurbishment. We were welcomed by a very pleasant receptionist. Our rooms were nicely decorated and clean. We ate at the restaurant one evening and had a very enjoyable meal. Breakfast was very good. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and if in the area again we would definitely stay again. Very good value for money.

Review 99:Bed was really hard, not for me but may suit others. Can hear the motorway, but good trade in for being conveniently situated.

Review 100:Lovely big room nicely decorated and clean.

Review 101:Unfortunately the person who booked them in was not a very pleasant gentleman, slightly patronising which I think was because they were a young couple, but the young lady who took over from him was extremely nice and helpful.

Review 102:I booked this as an anniversary present for my daughter an son in law, they said that the room was great and food was lovely.

Review 103:The decor is very backwards and olden days. It's more of a place for over 60s. Location was horrendous - middle of nowhere Too pricey for length of stay

Review 104:The man on reception was really friendly and nice

Review 105:Only bad things were I had no remote control for the TV (But it still worked) and the wifi was not very fast.

Review 106:Staff were very pleasant and helpful, grounds were lovely and well kept, I never ate here so can't comment on food.

Review 107:The double bed was 2 singles pushed together and I kept slipping down the centre.

Review 108:The hotel was lovely , the staff were helpful too , hats off to Scott the scotch eggs were amazing.

Review 109:Slamming doors, breakfast was late and staff not on reception on time on the Sunday, the double bed in room 218 was horrendous, very uncomfortable with major roll together in the middle. Shampoo was poor as was the soap. But the twin beds in 226 that our daughters had were good and their room spacious.

Review 110:The setting and view very nice, staff friendly if a little slow to respond, room fine with decent ensure, quiet apart from doors banged very loud as difficult to shut

Review 111:The interior of the rooms and bar area are a little tired. The breakfast room was bright and fresh with a parrot squarking in the corner!!!! A cupbaird uner the TV had a used duvet push into it and the wardrobe a used materess cover.... No I did not hand my clothes in there! Told the reception staff member who failed to see the significance of my feedback!!!

Review 112:Great location and good value hotel. I got a free upgrade to a larger room which was kind.

Review 113:There was a problem in the kitchen and we had to leave before our breakfast arrived as we had waiting over 30 minutes and could not wait any longer. No explanation was given by anyone for the delays even when we checked out.

Review 114:Shower leaked from shower head over bathroom floor. Hotel tired and scruffy. Reception staff on arrival were not welcoming

Review 115:Nice food, comfortable bed

Review 116:The place was "nice" but a bit tired. The bed was very worn and uncomfortable.

Review 117:Great location. I guess it was once fantastic and could be again with a bit of TLC.

Review 118:The tiny TV was a disappointment compared to the rest of the room. Our evening meal at the hotels own restaurant was a little ordinary.

Review 119:Large room was great with everything you needed to enjoy a rest after a days driving, especially a hot soak in the bath. We didn't have breakfast so unsure what it was like. The grounds were nice to walk around.

Review 120:Nothing at all - absolutely nothing. Only the fact that I wasn't staying another night !!!

Review 121:Upgraded to a Deluxe room without asking - amazing room - huge bedroom, king size bed. Scotch Egg starter - stunning.

Review 122:The 'goods entrance' to the right of the hotel looks like the entrance to a scrap yard - badly in need of TLC.

Review 123:Location excellent and having three chairs in the room was a bonus. ( you only get one between two people in most hotels!)

Review 124:Had a long wait for a cooked meal for breakfast, but I appreciate that the breakfast area was busy. Despite "vegetarian breakfast" available to purchase, I received a small meal that was the breakfast without the meat.

Review 125:The wifi is very poor and patchy. Getting work done in your room was a no go if one needed a connection. On Wednesday night at 10:20 the bar was closed.

Review 126:Really nice place. Beautiful room. Friendly staff. Great walks and bike rides.

Review 127:The dining experience was a little strange with either a limited TDH menu or a bar menu but as you could order from either it would be easier to amalgamate them. It was poor that they were not able to supply any bread to accompany a mackerel pate starter - apparently all the bread in the place is frozen! Service was a bit patchy and the bill at the end wasn't correct (although only discovered this after check-out). The decor is tired and tatty in places and the whole place, inside and out, has a rather run-down feel.

Review 128:The country location was pleasant and the beds were comfortable. The inclusive breakfast was also quite generous with a wide range of cold and hot food.

Review 129:Staff attitude average - bar closed, lights out at 11pm no explanation or apology. Room was tired - damage to ceiling, TV remote broken and generally in need of some TLC. Would look elsewhere next time for regular business gathering.

Review 130:Location, ease of check in and out. Breakfast is good

Review 131:There was no welcome at all. We arrived at 8.30 pm after a 5 hour drive. I had phoned ahead to check that we could still have a meal and say when we expected to arrive. There was no one on reception at all. We eventually noticed envelopes lying on the counter and one had our surname on it. Our roomkey was inside. We managed to locate our room and find the restaurant. There was no welcome in restaurant . It was doubtful whether we could still eat as kitchen closed at 9.00 but eventually we were served.

Review 132:The room was large and well equipped

Review 133:Everything geared to functions rather than couples. Seemed ill prepared to deal with couples at dinner and breakfast was not fully available until 20 mins after the advertised start time.

Review 134:Comfortable room

Review 135:No food arrived at 3 told chef not back till 6.30 nothing to eat no water in room sitting outside went in for drink 10.55 told bar closed Staff seemed aloof

Review 136:Restaurant was quiet. I was told at 5pm it was very busy and the earliest booking for a table was 7.30pm. I waited until 7.30 to find the restaurant nearly empty. The only other place nearby to eat is a Beefeater about two miles away or Worcester six miles away. Food and service was good it just lacked atmosphere

Review 137:Large quiet rooms, clean and tidy. Beautiful location if you want somewhere a little out of the way.

Review 138:Service in the restaurant was rather slow, orders got mixed up and the glasses needed polishing. The hotel is very close to the M5, but wasn't that easy to find coming via another route.

Review 139:We liked the large room and comfortable bed. The grounds are extensive and lovely to walk round (mind the bird poo round the lakes!). The food (breakfast and dinner)was excellent.
