Reviews for Chatsworth Hotel
Review 1:I felt the carpet could be cleaner at the join with the walls. The toilet didn't drain v well and there was a squeaking sound coming from the hallway. Thankfully that stopped before nightfall. Bathroom seemed a bit dark as one light didn't work. The reception area was bit windy and not very aesthetically pleasing. That didn't bother me much as I didn't intend to spend time in reception.
Review 2:The polish receptionist was really friendly and helpful. Had a room with seafront view, that is nice in the summer, however my stay was Jan and kept the curtains closed. Curtains have blackout lining which keeps cold and light out. Good adjustable heating in the room which comes handy after a windy cold day out. Bed was comfortable and clean. My room had plenty storage space, ironing board and extra pillow and blanket. Loved having hair drier and a kettle in the room to make my favourite tea. Big LCD TV for who likes to use it. The reception area has plenty leaflets with things to visit, what's on.
Review 3:Did not have any toothpaste in the room. or in the hotel when we asked at reception. Had to go out and buy toothpaste at 10pm.
Review 4:Nice, clean room. Warm. Good bathroom facilities.
Review 5:I think for the price that a light breakfast could have been included. The last hotel I stayed in was £7.00 less per night with a full English breakfast. However, it was still a good deal and I would gladly return to the Chatsworth as necessary and I would also recommend to others.
Review 6:Clean, comfortable and WARM. The room was small but compact and well designed - it had everything needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Accommodating and extremely helpful luggage storage facility.. Would gladly use this hotel again and recommend to others.
Review 7:Room very out of date and in great need of up dating , Shower & WC very bad , heater fulling of wall, window do not close, and drafty. bedroom door was rattling all night with the wind blowing down the hall way.
Review 8:sea front view and in town centre
Review 9:The hotel was very "tired" and in need of a refurbishment. The breakfast was overpriced for what you got and not that great.
Review 10:The location was ideal to the Old Town.
Review 11:The bed was on a full double, TV aerial was faulty, bathroom was disgusting with broken floor tiles and hand painted bath. Damp patches from room above covering the ceiling . Silicone all broken round bath. Some of the fire doors didn't shut. Male receptionist was shown the pictures of the faults and promised to get back to us and so far hasn't.
Review 12:We went to this hotel for my husbands birthday, the woman receptionist was helpful. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice and comfortable restaurant. Views from room were excellent.
Review 13:Key card was nightmare, constantly had to have cards re conciled, had to come back from work once so key could be sorted so my son could get into room, told can'tDo cards sperately.
Review 14:Very quiet, nice and relaxing
Review 15:Wasn't a good experience - needs updating, homeless outside getting his bits outside to have a wee when my daughter was looking at the 'view' - breakfast really not good, way too much money for what effectively equates to a hostel - please pick something else.
Review 16:The bed was comfortable and ideal location lovely views of sea
Review 17:It is not bad, but the decor is tired and it needs a revamp.
Review 18:The Hotel has a wonderful position close to the Town and over looking the beach. As is always with these hotels overlooking the sea, parking could be a problem though in the winter it is easier. The staff were very welcoming and helpful when we asked questions.
Review 19:There were no biscuits in the room. And the bathroom had no toiletries. It would be a problem if you didn't bring any with you.
Review 20:Room was clean and comfortable and warm.
Review 21:Room needed attention, outdated and grim. The décor and furnishings old and gloomy obviously not been touched for many years, damp patches under the window sills. The Bathroom paintwork, flooring and tiles not inviting. Bathroom door did not close, toilet seat would not stay upright for male use! Bed pillows old, flat and ready for the bin and only 1 pillow had a protector case on! The fact that we had had apparently included breakfast in our booking was a big surprise as we never book breakfast, so I can only imagine this was not clearly stated when completing the booking on the web form? However, for £7.50 pp my partner enjoyed his food. I declined anything but a cup of tea and this I could have had for free in the room!
Review 22:Location to sea front, shops, car parks, restaurant and theatre. Receptionist very helpful and welcoming..
Review 23:I had one grievance with the hotel and that was that the shaver socket didn't work and to go and buy sn adapter for my electric shaver
Review 24:The Indian restaurant in the hotel was fantastic
Review 25:staff very friendly, nice location, room was adequate but comfortable, only thing with the room was the wall was crumbled when touched. breakfast was fresh and nice apart from the sausage and I thought a tad too expensive
Review 26:Most old fashioned hotel I've ever stayed in. Hasn't been updated since 70s or 80s. The hallways smelled old and £69 per night was a little too much to pay. Charging £49 would have been more than fair enough to charge for the room we were given.
Review 27:Location was great. Parking outside was cheap and free overnight. Staff member who checked us in was friendly and informative and the beds and sheets were clean which was important.
Review 28:Entrance had broken glass door..place looked like a cross between a care home and a hotel. Strange atmosphere. .very tired decor. Broken tiles and cracked sink in bathroom. No hot water on firat eveving and morning. Ankle deep in cold water waiting for the hot water. As waste water woukd not drain. Noisy housekeeping at 8 am . Would not use again
Review 29:Bedroom was a good size. Bed was comfortable and room was clean
Review 30:Only thing is that was disturbing was early hours of others slamming doors??made a racket wasn't sure why? But soon quitened.& movement down below quarters running water sounds like toilet flushing. But didn't let that worry us.
Review 31:We liked our stay because the room was facing the sea& it was comfortable & airy to.& we enjoyed our weekend very good.beds were changed daily no fault.& nice shower in our room to very good.
Review 32:Breakfast was a poor choice, you had to ask for cereals, fruit, toast etc. None was out and available. Cooked breakfast was so, so.
Review 33:It did the job. The twin room (302) was dated but clean and spacious. Decent TV.
Review 34:Very old and damaged furnishings in our room including bed side lampshades that had scorch marks on the inside, a chair with an arm that was broken, loose tiles on bathroom floor,a deafening extractor fan, tiny bathroom.
Review 35:Staff were quick to respond to our request to change rooms.Staff in the restaurant were very courteous. The receptionist was fiercely efficient, patient and helpful.
Review 36:Very noisy as no air conditioning and we had to leave the windows open. Not sure if it was a party outside or below but unable to sleep until early hours of the morning.
Review 37:Very close to the beach and all local attractions
Review 38:Breakfast after Suday am not set out because there were only a few in we still paid the same . One day cereal & cooked food at the same time On entering Hotel with heavy luggage there are steps, We are in our 70s no help Available, No information as to local bus's
Review 39:Dated! Rooms old and scruffy. Breakfast not ready for service at time stated with restaurant staff who hadn't a clue .
Review 40:Location and the fact we were refunded for the breakfast which was not ready at service time.
Review 41:Do not have breakfast here it is very poor and tasteless. The waiters were though very efficient.
Review 42:Staff very helpful and friendly, quite clean and a good location.
Review 43:The first hotel/guest house I've ever been to, that doesn't supply shower gel or shampoo or conditioner? And I have been to plenty to be able to say really disappointed. I've seen public toilets looking better than the bathroom. All kept clean but really old and used. Free wifi only in lobby.
Review 44:No good customer care arrived at the hotel at around 2300 hrs and there was no one to attend and had to go 2 floors up without seeing any member of staff regardless of me banging the doors. The office doors left open and empty. Poor security noted within the hotel. Attempted calling twice before arrival and no one picked the phone even no message service available.
Review 45:Location
Review 46:Not the cleanest e.g windows. Breakfast looked a real mess but admittedly it was near the end of service when I got there. The hotel needs investment.
Review 47:Very helpful reception lady who gave a good welcome. Single room was a decent size.
Review 48:Rooms need updating. One curtain wasn't long enough to cover the window, a bulb was too big for the lampshade so sticking out of the top, the wiring was peculiar as the lamp was connected to a ceiling light, the bath had been repainted rather than replaced. Most things easy to put right so needs some love and attention.
Review 49:Excellent location and superb Indian restaurant within the hotel.
Review 50:The breakfast restaurant was slightly understaffed on Sunday morning
Review 51:The friendliness of the staff, prompt efficient service, and speed of rectifying any issues
Review 52:Extrememly courteous staff and a spacious en suite bedroom with excellent Free wifi and perfectly clean. I'd happily stay there again the next time I visit Hastings.
Review 53:Bed small & loose legs. Bath tap not working. Toilet seat loose. Parking expensive. Bar not open. Power went off no lights. Extractor fan noisy. Windows dirty & did not shut. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Décor needs face lift.
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:The hotel is very poorly kept, it is not only dated but filthy. The bathroom's not slip mat was yellow from wear, we found hairs on the bathroom floor along with what look like sick on the floor.
Review 56:As we left the hotel we tried to give reception a list of the things that did not work in room 119 - but we were told to do it on line - sockets and lights were the main concern- a good maintenance engineer is needed - and a shame that the small building outside attracted unfortunate people
Review 57:Parking an issue but thats just Hastings although could pay for overnight. Has a bar but is in Indian restaurant connected to hotel
Review 58:Location very good with main bars and restaurants behind and overlooking the sea front
Review 59:more hotels seem to be sharing their space with the place next door, for meals, l had dinner in the place next door sorry cant remember the name!!! was very good, but l prefer to sit in a lounge with a bar with view of the sea!! lt seemed a bit disjointed, x
Review 60:comfortable, lovely view of the sea, all l asked for!!
Review 61:Disappointed in this day of age that there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms.
Review 62:Good clean hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Hotel looks tired, no changes to decor in last three years.
Review 63:Bed is inconvenient for people over 6 feet tall, bathroom needs renovation, no air conditioning, which may not be a problem is you don't visit in summer.
Review 64:Excellent location across the street from the Seafront, close to the town centre, markets, restaurants and coffee shops
Review 65:Double bed. King would be better.
Review 66:Location just first in line to the sea, close to the town, cleanliness, food, sea view. Friendly staff. Value for money.
Review 67:The parking isn't the best, there is an underground carpark 5 mins walk from the hotel, and you can also park outside the hotel on the road. But..beware of the times. If you arrive before 6pm you have to pay both in the underground and on the road, the underground is £7.40 for 24hrs. If you are doing this everyday it works out very expensive. The only way you can get it free is if you go out everyday and come back after 6pm then you get it free. It's alot of juggling, and is quite annoying.
Review 68:The location of the hotel is excellent, with many of the attractions only a short walk away. Very well sign posted if you decide to take the car. If you can get the bus, it's well worth doing as you go through some lovely scenery on the way
Review 69:Room was a bit shabby and walls could have done with new wallpaper or paint. No Wifi in room, only in reception area
Review 70:Large wardrobes with full length mirror. Sea view.
Review 71:Room is too small and very noisy when other guests walking past, the front at the hotel looks uninvited, bed fell like it's gonna fall down to the floor when we sleep and the pillows so thin... Not gonna be back again ;(
Review 72:Clean and not smelling room
Review 73:The tirst room we were given stunk of stale cigarette smoke , the bathroom was dreadful the bath was stained green and sealant missing all over. The second room was ok but all in need of decorating and flooring in the bathroom was two odd bits of lino put down. Wouldn't stay again
Review 74:The best part of the stay was the view.
Review 75:The rooms are a little dated ! We asked for a quiet room ,not so being next to lift and fire door when shutting rattled our door ! Six lane traffic outside . Bathroom bath taps and bath need replacing ! Also hair still on chair !!!
Review 76:The bed and pillow
Review 77:Dirty and worn out bathroom. Bath was disgusting, didn't even want to stand in it for a shower.Room was not very clean. Curtains were falling apart. Noise from homeless and alcoholics outside sitting on the benches in the lowered walkways kept us awake most of the night. Staff not very warm and welcoming except breakfast staff. Television kept cutting out due to weak signal.
Review 78:Views overlooking the see. Parking arrangements were good. Breakfast was good service.
Review 79:the room windows had broken catches, the plastic bath was scoured with scratches, the plug hole was full of fibres and the bedroom furniture and decor was pure doss house not to mention missing buttons on the lift panel.
Review 80:the towels and bedding were clean and the water was hot
Review 81:Very dated decor. walls and carpet around edges and corners of room looked really quie dirty.
Review 82:Excellent location for Old and new towns. Cheaper than any other available hotel. Clean bed linen and towels.
Review 83:Very noisy fire doors, wake you up every time someone goes through them all through the night. Basic bathroom but decent shower. Room a little dated. Wafer thin pillows.
Review 84:Room was ok just to use as a base for the weekend, but for the price is rather have stayed in a travel lodge/premier inn. Great positioning on the seafront. Close to everything.
Review 85:Bathroom needed a good clean round hand basin. No hand towel till I asked. Poor shower, antiquated. Many silly things needed some good housekeeping.
Review 86:Nothing special
Review 87:Initially had a problem in claiming refund of an automatic breakfast debit to my account - but subsequently this amount was reversed after a protest by me.
Review 88:Convenience
Review 89:We had 3 rooms, none of them any good.Poorly decorated, bathrooms so old.One room so noisy till 3.30 at night. Were there any staff there if so i hardly saw any.Never again.
Review 90:the whole hotel has seen better days scale around the sink , damage to the interior of the lift coffee in the room was really bad, generally pretty run down in our opinion ,décor of the room was depressing , pillows were nearly flat from excessive use
Review 91:the bed was clean and the shower was hot and powerful free car park
Review 92:Nets were hanging down, room was dated and run down. Bath was dirty and facilities were very old and dirty. Very noisy and felt like I was sleeping next to a highway. Staff didn't do huge amounts.
Review 93:Bed and towels were clean. Shower worked well.
Review 94:Our overall experience was awful, we had to change rooms twice due to noise levels from doors banging during the night people knocking at the door and a party going on underneath the room,
Review 95:the bath needs replacing room 202. the upstairs floor boards keep on creaking when people get out of bed and walk to the bathroom.
Review 96:the hotel is fine. the person on the desk was very helpful and the under ground parking was great.
Review 97:Bed very uncomfortable, the room walls were dirty full of stains. The bathroom not clean stains in the bath and grime imbedded in floor tiles
Review 98:Location was good. Staff friendly.
Review 99:Slow service at dinner in the Indian restaurant. Furniture in room a little dusty.
Review 100:Staff were friendly and helpful - they gave us a sea view without being asked. Room comfortable - bedlinen and bathroom were clean.
Review 101:Hit and miss WiFi in reception only. Badly fitting double glazing meant high noise level from traffic and let in strong drafts. I wouldn't like that in winter.
Review 102:Location is good, staff brilliant room was adequate. Best curry I've had for years next door in Jali
Review 103:There was a very large tour group that completely filled the breakfast room so that there was nowhere to sit - and no food left
Review 104:Rooms were nice, not nearly as dated or tired as I would have thought by looking at the website
Review 105:We were so desperate to get out! Damp on the walls, mould in the corners, very dated and hard bed, was very hot as well, got no sleep and wouldn't come back
Review 106:I did not encounter any problems.
Review 107:Friendly courteous staff. Good value for money considering location. Plenty of power from the shower. Tea & Coffee facilities. Nice Indian restaurant.
Review 108:No wi-fi in the room which I wasn't aware of. No handshower and difficult to get right temperature. Couldn't shut one of the windows. Staff ok but not the little "extra", like greeting you in the mornings etc.
Review 109:The location is perfect. Lovely beds.
Review 110:Better pillows would be good but I am just being picky really!
Review 111:I have stayed here several times and it is always spotlessly clean. As a single traveller it is good to be able to book a single room. In many hotels I have to pay extra for a double room that I do not need. Very convenient location on sea front. And the Indian restaurant is very nice!
Review 112:Paint on carpet, hairdryer broke, rusty radiator, peeling paint, dirty bathroom tiles, stained bath. Dirty carpet Smell of cigarette smoke in room. Receptionist ignored me when I commented on it all. I shall never stay there again and will let my friends in Hastings know what an awful place it is
Review 113:Didn't like this because the room was tiny had no hot water no view out of window radiator was hanging off the wall the whole place should be condemned!
Review 114:its our second stay here and both times we have had problem with the key cards which makes getting in and out the hotel room a pain when sometimes we get back late from night out
Review 115:short stay me and my partner like it as its close to where we live and we use it as a bit of respite from people with live with
Review 116:Women staff member (Indian) was very rude on more than one occasion to me and my friend. Broken floor tile could cause injury cold rooms with a draft from most windows very noisy when windy in sea view rooms
Review 117:The fact it's the only available place with rooms a majority of the time and the female staff member (blonde hair) very polite and helpful
Review 118:The whole place looked "past its sell by date". Bathroom in need of attention and t.l.c. Guests should be warned of function room in basement - we had disco noise until 2am. plus noisy revellers leaving after that.
Review 119:Attentive and helpful staff. Useful underground parking secure from 11pm. to 7am. for £2.
Review 120:some people where rude at times and i dont mean the down and out there where far to nice to talk to it was the other posh locals shame
Review 121:everythink was ok nice room with a lovely view good for walks lots to do the old town was lovely overall nice place
Review 122:Unbelievable the reception staff (lady) was very rude & bad her attitude toward us. She need to be send away on the course about Deaf Awareness. I feel she is not fit for that job. No respect at all.
Review 123:Good breakfast
Review 124:Legs on bed broke when laid down on it. Windows hanging off. Bathroom unclean. I.E bath hasn't seen bleach for ages. Blood stains on side of bath panel.
Review 125:Although the bathroom was clean, it was old and tired looking. However it was the pillows that are most memorable for being rather thin, lumpy and uncomfortable.
Review 126:We liked the location of the hotel, right on the sea front. It was close to the train station and only a short walk to the old town. Our room was quite large with a sea view, which was nice.
Review 127:Breakfast was poor. There was no Continental option. "Full English" comprised; Bacon Sausage, Beans, tinned Mushrooms,Scrambled Egg and Fried Potatoes plus bread and do it yourself Toast. The Sausages were of inferior quality, the Bacon was salty and did not look appertising, the Bread was also of inferior quality (economy version). There was no Egg option ie Fried/Poached. There was no menu to show what was avaiable. Cereal was only Weetabix or Cornflake and the only fruit option was tinned Pinapple.? This was not worth the £7.50 per person that was charged.
Review 128:Very clean, spaciuos room. Staff at front of house were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 129:Room was small, but quite adequate. Same for the bed, but really no problem. Yes the building is 'well worn', but most cheap things with character are (hmm, me included). It's just an old Hastings seaside hotel.
Review 130:Sea view. Full English Breakfast. Central location. Kettle & coffee in room. No fuss; no bother; all went very smoothly.
Review 131:There was no ac and the room was very stuffy as only one window opened, and you had to have the window opened, but then u get all the noise from the road. Other than that wasent bad.
Review 132:Location was good but the noise from the road was very loud
Review 133:The price of the water in the cafe at the top of west hill lift climb.
Review 134:Hotel in good location for nightlife, strolling shops during the day & excellent parking charges (you can stick brighton where the sun dont shine!) Everybody in town was nice (business owners, doorman & most of all...not bombarded with foreigners :) happy days
Review 135:Breakfast orders were mixed.up and served cold, beds uncomfortable, noisy drunks outside as did not have a.sea view room and our room faced night clubs and a.very noisy boiler Broken tiles in bathroom
Review 136:Lady on reception
Review 137:Not enough towels in bathroom. Room clean but in need of re-decoration. Wifi not protected and only available in lobby.
Review 138:Very comfortable bed and clean bedding. Seafront location excellent. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Wifi speed good
