Reviews for Hotel Jerbourg
Review 1:Breakfast options a little limited - although food quality is good.
Review 2:Great location with grand views over the headland and the sea - even in December! Staff were great, attentive and friendly, even though they were in the middle of Christmas party season.
Review 3:On arrival we were told the bar was closing so we couldn't get a drink. Our flight had been delayed so we were later than expected. It would have been nice to be offered a glass of wine to to take to our room as they were keen to lock up. There was mould on the bread at breakfast. Because we woke earlier than anticipated we went downstairs to see if breakfast would be available earlier (7.30) and I switched on lights as no one was awake. We unlocked the door at 8am and went for a little walk before coming back again to wait for the chef to wake up. Until then we hadn't realised we were the only guests! Breakfast was actually served at the time we had requested to be fair.
Review 4:The location of the hotel was beautiful. Most of the staff were friendly. The room was comfortable.
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:I had a small room with a perfect view of the sea. The food was delicious and no matter which room I ate in, or which meal I chose, it was always beautiful. I loved hearing the Guernsey news in the morning in the dining room on the radio, was offered help with carrying my things up to my room and was even provided with an explanation as to how to use the public transport on first arrival!
Review 7:Really friendly and helpful staff, whatever the requirements. Fabulous location and great facilities. Ideal for touring Guernsey and for access to local walks.
Review 8:The stairs and having to carry cases up them. The quality and selection of breakfast as well as the serving room itself - all needs to be updated. Very basic with no wow factor at all11
Review 9:The quality, service and setting of the evening meal. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The quality of the bed and the view from the bedroom window - to die for!
Review 10:Staff not terribly friendly: on checking in early no offer to look after my case or to check whether room might be early ready or offer to tell me where I could get coffee or wait. In fact v small lounge/bar style dining room with all tables "Reserved" (even though most empty). Taxi ordered one morning: on coming down told it was for an hour later. No apology or interest. In fact another piece of paper then found saying it was booked at time I had booked (ie not an hour later). Taxi turned up slightly later but no great effort to ring to check etc. Décor tired and institutionalised esp in rooms and bathroom.
Review 11:Fabulous location
Review 12:What a shame the lovely pool is unheated - during the week only 2 people braved it. There is no point in having a pool if it is not heated.
Review 13:Wonderful position. Excellent and friendly staff. Outstanding fish dishes.
Review 14:Breakfast was out at 745 best to get there when it comes out else it goes a bit cold under the warmer lights.
Review 15:Great staff, really good evening menu, location perfect for fermain, st peter port and lovely bays of Moulin, etc..
Review 16:We stayed at Hotel Jerbourg whilst celebrating our friends birthdays. Was very impressed with all the staff who were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Review 17:I was the mother of the bride I was looking forward to staying we were in room 4 and there was no bulb in toilet the shower was broken
Review 18:The room was lovely
Review 19:Very Disappointed with the view from room 4,not even partial sea view and should therefore be at a different rate. Duvet and pillows uncomfortable possibly need renewing
Review 20:Cakes and food, hotel position, dynamic young staff, bus stop proximity, jerbourg area
Review 21:We liked the lovely views from the hotel and the quiet peaceful location. The food was good and the service attentive. There was a good bus service so a car wasn't essential.
Review 22:Needs updating to appeal to younger families, add a gym, play park. Room was very hot and fridge and hair dryers require updating
Review 23:The staff are very friendly and welcoming, good selection of breakfast, evening meals a bit pricey but lovely and generous. Plenty of parking and beds comfortable and generous size bathroom
Review 24:The only down side if you stay with Young children is there is no lift but apart from this minor thing it's excellent and will stay again when in Guernsey again
Review 25:That we had to return to work in London!
Review 26:Bargain price for a fantastic setting and perfect location for exploring the cliffs and beautiful bays on the south of the island. Lovely, comfortable room, friendly staff and glorious views of Herm and Sark; great breakfast in bright and sunny conservatory.
Review 27:The musical selections were for a much younger crowd. Change it or do away with it!CC
Review 28:The location for walkers, the breakfasts - in fact everything EXCEPT------
Review 29:The position of the hotel was the best you could wish for, lovely views and walk's. room's also were great and staff were so friendly and helpful
Review 30:Loo paper is a bit thin but not a problem. Last bus to hotel from town was around 7:00 but that is not the hotels fault
Review 31:Staff very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Breakfast set us up for the day, fixed price evening meal in restaurant very good - cakes exceptional. Came before the pool was open but it looked inviting if a bit cold in April. Did not use a car but got around the island on excellent bus service or walked the coastal path.
Review 32:the only thing I could recommend is to add porridge as a one of the components of the breakfast. Now it is possible to get by by ordering, but that takes time and it would be more convenient to have it in buffet by default
Review 33:It was all perfect, even the small issue with cutting the last night of accommodation was resolved.
Review 34:Bedside table lamps are too low for reading in bed. A bit out of the way if you need to take a bus. Thinnest toilet paper I've ever come across. Terrible wine list with outrageous prices.
Review 35:Welcoming, comfortable hotel in lovely location overlooking the cliffs and sea. Warm cosy room with a great view. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food and even better restaurant just close by. We were very pleased with our stay.
Review 36:If we had to complain about anything it would be the size of the TV in our room, but that's probably just down to our age and not seeing as well as we once did!!
Review 37:The setting & position of the hotel. The manicured gardens. We had our evening meal there and it was superb, with lovely staff.
Review 38:nothing
Review 39:Really enjoyed the informal friendly staff approach who ensured we had anything we needed to have a comfortable informed stay. All staff approached their work with some pride and this came across as helpful and friendly.
Review 40:We did have a problem with the heating in our room but the staff did everything possible to help sort this out.comf
Review 41:It was a pleasure to stay here. The room had lovely sea views and was a good size. The staff were very welcoming and provided high standards of service.
Review 42:Everything, the room was lovely and spacious, the staff were great, so friendly and accommodating. And the director gave us a lift into town, what more could you ask for! Breakfast too was excellent. I spent the first 2 nights in Guernsey in a 4 star booked through work, which did not compare to the Jerbourg. I highly recommend the Jerbourg :o)
Review 43:Lack of Road Signs and significant deviation signs which were very confusing to a visitor/driver.
Review 44:The quality of service and friendliness of all who served us both in hotels/restaurants/shops, and the excellent manners of road drivers.
Review 45:Too many lovely cakes!!
Review 46:During our stay the weather was glorious so we could enjoy the lovely views from the hotel. The islands bus service comes to the door but there are plenty of walks. Breakfast was great and there was a good choice and plenty. Dinner was excellent and the selection of cakes was superb.
Review 47:The Hotel Jerburg was one of the best hotel holidays I have experienced. From the initial welcome from Paul, the overall friendliness of all the staff, through to the good breakfasts & the exceptional "Tennerfest" menu, the whole stay was exceptional. The hotel has a pervading atmosphere of relaxation & calm, felt very clean & my room was pleasant & comfortable. I will definitely be back...
Review 48:wifi ranges from average to dead slow to non-existent expensive restaurant
Review 49:friendly staff spacious rooms reasonably priced biggest and best choice of breakfast items ever fairly priced bar
Review 50:A little cut off if you are reliant totally on public transport, especially during the winter bus timetable.
Review 51:Excellent views from cliff top location. Good breakfast and restaurant food.
Review 52:Bar noise from the room below was a bit baffling on the first evening but we were in our room early and it wasn't awful just music and chat, but I still wouldn't have swapped our room for anything!
Review 53:The hotel is situated in an outstanding area of natural beauty, we were incredibly lucky to have a standard room with dual aspect views across the sea which made our weekend perfect. The room was very clean and comfortable, although the furniture was a little dated and the bed was squeaky it was a lovely size and beautifully warm when the heating came on. The shower in the bathroom was brilliant, hot and powerful and the bath was lovely and deep, crisp white towels and bed linen showed attention to detail and staff were happy to provide exyra pillows on request. The hotel was beautiful, the breakfast was amazing with buffet style full English and lots of local breads, jams and fruits. The breakfast room was in a fantastic conservatory area with again outstanding views accross the cliff top lawn and out to the islands. The staff were attentive but subtle helping us to enjoy a truly relaxed break away. We loved this hotel, we loved the view, the food, the stunning location and even the bus rides into town from outside the front door for £1 each! I can't wait to go back there, heaven on earth :0 ).
Review 54:The bed squeaked and the mattress was too soft. The room is very dull (didn't truly matter as the views from the room are wonderful). The walls are quite thin, so you can hear your neighbours and the music from the bar (goes off at 10pm or earlier if you ask).
Review 55:The location is absolutely superb – great views of Herm and Jersey; if the buses aren't running, it only takes 45 minutes to walk into St Peter's Port on the road. Wonderful coastal walks. Very tasty breakfast with plenty of choice (massive mushrooms, fantastic plain yogurt – taken away mid-breakfast and replaced with ordinary stuff)
Review 56:Breakfast not cooked to order and self service from a hot plate resulting in tepid food. In general the standard of food was mediocre and overpriced. Some of the staff were rather cold and dismissive and seemed interested only in themselves and chatting together. Not very helpful or attentive. The terrace area looked neglected and tired. Our toilet seat had been glued on and the bedroom carpet was old and thin. Scuff marks on the paint work and bathroom tiles need a good clean. Not what you would expect from a three star hotel. Our room looked over the headland car park which was not a problem but we had no privacy unless we kept the curtains closed which rather defeats the object of having a sea view. A rather disappointing place to stay.
Review 57:Lovely views over the sea and Islands and a good sized room with a comfy bed and generous ensuite. Spacious residents lounge with a large selection of beverages, snacks and cakes. A regular bus service stops just outside the hotel which is very handy and cheap.
Review 58:Staff seemed to ignore you most of the time if you didn't ask for service you didn't get served. Long way from the town and last bus was at 8pm so confined to hotel in evenings.
Review 59:The location on Jerbourg point is lovely. Food good.
Review 60:Bathroom adequate but in need of decor update. Sunday lunch carvery lovely, but service on this occasion very poor, due to number of bookings.
Review 61:staff lovely, friendly and attentive. Huge cake selection and generous portions. Loved the berry fruit compote served at breakfast. Buses every 30 minutes to St Peter Port in season, but last bus 8pm. Spectacular views and next to coastal walk.
Review 62:Bathroom dated. Breakfast was limited particularly with cereal choice. First impressions- little or no planting in the plant troughs-car park/ approach in need of resurfacing.
Review 63:Staff, young but very hard working and always pleasant. Great location with lovely sea and island views. The lounge area very comfortable and views. Cakes!!
Review 64:Missing out on trying those fantastic looking cakes in the restaurant!!
Review 65:We used the hotel as a base for our trips to sark and herm. The room was clean and well equipped including a fridge. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Stacey and the Dutch lad on reception
Review 66:To get the free wifi, you have to give a lot of details to some wifi provider.
Review 67:Beautiful views overlooking the other Channel Islands, and direct access to amazing cliff paths. Another asset for a hot day is the swimming pool.
Review 68:Small plates at breakfast .Lack of sunbed covers and nobody to ask for in particular.
Review 69:Food very good cakes and tarts amazing. Friendly staff good size rooms.
Review 70:Great location though hire car is a good idea if you want to dine out in an evening. Grounds well kept and spacious. Clean accommodation and staff helpful and friendly.
Review 71:Being built in the early 1900s, it doesn't have lifts. This was a problem with our heavy bags - but the staff did help. It also was not air-conditioned, but did have sea breezes.
Review 72:The Jerbourg has ocean views from its rooms and stimulating cliff top walks. It has top level dining and cakes along with comfortable rooms and bed. It is a luxury escape.
Review 73:Service was adequate but cool., a little offhand. No sign of a manager or person in charge ever.
Review 74:Fantastic location, beautiful views, good swimming pool - we were the only users! Excellent bar staff and fabulous cakes.
Review 75:When we arrived facilities/dining were not available due to a block booking we were not advised prior to arriving on a long cycling holiday - this was to be our luxury last day - turned out to be far from that - in stead we caught a bus around the island and stopped off at the restaurants in cobo and watched the sun go down - super We had also requested secure storage for our bikes prior to arriving - they said just leave them in the car park - very helpfull! When asked if we could use the pool - there was a lot of scurrying around as workmen were decorating the area for an event - we were then allowed on reluctantly for a short period of time THE MARKING ON THE POOL IS DANGEROUS - 10 FT WHEN ITS ONLY 4 FT BE CAREFULL
Review 76:Position , The ice cream at the nearby viewing point
Review 77:Most part of the staff are incompetent and unfriendly. I had to pay by arrival immediataly for the full stay, despite 1 night was already prepaid and they had my creditcard number. Payment with american express was possible but with a surcharge of 4%!!! Dining was a one time experience, food with no finesse and the same salad with every dish. Wine glasses are filled allmost to the rim. On breakfast only the early birds have croissants.
Review 78:super location, spacious rooms, beautiful structure with superb views
Review 79:Disturbed by music every evening from 5-11pm. This turned out to be another guest and hotel most concerned when I reported it on departure.
Review 80:Marvellous breakfast room with fantastic views. Excellent evening meal with puds to die for. Helpful and pleasant staff.
Review 81:Some minor maintenance required, e.g. Shower fitting loose. Choice of load rock music at breakfast one morning was very odd!
Review 82:Great views. Excellent bus service from outside hotel.
Review 83:The breakfast was so over cooked you couldn't put a knife through the bacon
Review 84:Lovely room and location
Review 85:Very friendly staff Very clean hotel
Review 86:Needs an electric shower and bigger TV
