Reviews for La Collinette Hotel, Cottages & Apartments
Review 1:This hotel is a 10/10 for me, the staff are all very friendly, from the moment I arrived I felt very at home. For what I paid to what service I received seemed very cheap. I would highly recommend this hotel
Review 2:No problems for me.
Review 3:The Collinette is a lovely hotel my room was lovely , very spacious with a great en-suite . Breakfast has a good choice of fruit , pastries , juices , and options for your cooked breakfast , which was delicious .
Review 4:Shower in my bathroom (No.37) - poor pressure.
Review 5:Located 10 mins walk from financial district - easy for business meetings and much better value than town centre hotels. A little bit tatty in places but warm and welcoming with fantastic cooked breakfast. Outside pool and gym if you have the time.
Review 6:Shower not working on 1st day, fixed promptly. Wi-Fi did not work at all. At breakfast I had to ask for things that are normally offered, eg. tea/coffee and cooked food.
Review 7:Quiet room, friendly greeting and best poached eggs I've had in Guernsey.
Review 8:The cooked breakfast was slightly disappointing. The sausage was too spicy and hard and the mushrooms had a garlic taste to them.
Review 9:Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice clean room with a good sized bathroom. Plenty of complimentary tea and coffee available.
Review 10:You need to walk to the port and return up a hill. I was fine and it was a nice walk but might not suit all
Review 11:Nice spacious bedroom and bathroom Good breakfast
Review 12:Could do without the walk up the hill when returning to the hotel but that's Guernsey for you. Peaceful setting once you get there.
Review 13:Very friendly management & staff. Food was very good seafood & steak. Reasonably priced.
Review 14:Breakfast was quite bland. Eggs were greasy and on one occasion sausage was cold although well cooked. which lead me believe it was warmed up in microwave.not vey well I may add.
Review 15:large rooms and bathroom
Review 16:Having to book a table in the Resturant for Dinner...... Although room service is also available
Review 17:Friendly and helpful staff Quiet area of St Peter Port Lovely Cooked Breakfasts Good choice of Breakfasts available Restuarant available
Review 18:Its a very relaxed hotel with a lot of style. My room was very big for a single room, which also had a double bed and was very clean and well decorated. Cyril, the hotel manager, is witty and extremely hard working as the bar is always full. Can be a bit noisy for some but there were families there with small children and they seemed to enjoy themselves.
Review 19:A return visit to La Collinette , differnet staff to last time, but again very polite and engaging. Comfortable rooms , we enjoyed a good evening meal , and breakfast is buffet style for cold , with a cooked to order hot menu, very good
Review 20:No bad experience, but I'd have liked a different newspaper in the lounge - the Guardian or Observer, perhaps?
Review 21:Very helpful staff, who seemed really interested in what I was doing and were extremely helpful. I loved the pool and garden but because of the waether, couldn't use them.
Review 22:The wing I was in smelt musty in the corridor, but this didnt effect my room
Review 23:Excellent staff, great breakfast, pleasant walk down hill through gardens to town. If use a taxi, 5 pounds, town to The Clubhouse. Also close to a bus stop.
Review 24:Although the staff were friendly and helpful they were all so noisy! The maid cleaning the rooms had the vacuum cleaner going by 8 in the morning which is not what you want to hear when you are on holiday trying to have a much needed lye in. The barman whilst very jovial was continually shouting and the gardener used to unroll a very squeaky hose as the sun came up! Our room overlooked the car park and the staff use that area to 'phone home' late at night at quite a volume. To top it all there was a generator(or similar)outside, which turned on and off at 1 minute intervals' for the whole night, which made sleeping with the window open quite a challenge.
Review 25:The room was very clean and comfortable although somewhat small. Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 26:I was treated like an honoured guest. The manager is very helpful & friendly. When I was late back from Jersey he had organised a cold plate for me when I returned.
Review 27:I have tried, but I just can't think of anything!
Review 28:If I had to sum La Collinette up in a single word it would be friendly. By the time we left the hotel it felt like home. The staff all seemed happy and helpful, and everywhere was clean and comfortable. I can't wait to go back!
Review 29:would have liked a mini fridge in my room,to keep my drinks in,and a clock on the wall would have been helpful, better than keep turning on the t.v to find out the time
Review 30:staff are very helpfull and friendly.beds are a good size and comfortable.swimming pool warm and a good size..
Review 31:the room was way too hot and wouldn't cool down the waiter who served us breakfast ignored us and brought out the wrong things even when we told him numerous times our order. he was just plain rude and ignorant.
Review 32:the receptionist lady was super friendly couldn't fault her :) the room size & the bathroom was big too although all squashed up on one side of the room still good though.
Review 33:Just perfect for my trip
Review 34:Loved the location away from the crowds but easy to walk or take a bus into town. My room was spacious and peaceful. The staff was great.
Review 35:Helpful staff especially the receptionist Katalin who went out of her way to provide a good service and useful information. Access to the pool.
Review 36:Staff so friendly. Could not do enough for you.
Review 37:I will be staying with you again as I will now be staying on a regularbasis could you email me any special offers.
Review 38:The cold shower before checking out at 6am
Review 39:Great location, nice room, summer vibe, nice swimming pool
Review 40:Convenient, comfortable
Review 41:Friendly staff, nice little pool, good bar and rooms very nice. 10 minutes walk to town so very convenient.
Review 42:Warm welcome, clean rooms.
Review 43:Peaceful and quiet stay, short walk to St Peter Port.
Review 44:Car park small. Bar lounge mainly for people interested in sport.
Review 45:Friendly helpful staff. Swimming pool.
Review 46:Breakfast,pool, rooms, prices in the restaurant, staff were only too happy to oblige with anything
Review 47:Location & friendly staff - made very welcome
Review 48:Very pleasant and helpful staff. Would recommend.
Review 49:NO GYM
Review 50:STAFF AND THE FOOD
Review 51:Great place, very nice feel to it
Review 52:Great breakfast, super service.
Review 53:Loved the location and the feel of the lobby and bar. Very friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere in the bar area. Will be back.
Review 54:Food is well priced and very good service is excellent
Review 55:swimming pool
Review 56:Bar shut too early and having been given incorrect drink bar man wanted to argue it was J D when it wasnt
Review 57:Fresh rooms, clean, new bathrooms. Great breakfast.
Review 58:3rd visit to Island and best hotel yet. Will definetly be coming back.
Review 59:long uphill walk from town! the restaurant didnt look overly interesting and the bar area was in need of brightening up.
Review 60:nice big bedroom and comfy bed , could do with some modernising.
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:We stayed in the main hotel and the rooms were light and airy, with plenty of space. Up to date and clean - lovely. You are just a short walk from St Peter Port so you can take in your surroundings.
Review 63:Some parts of the hotel are a little dated, whilst others are very modern
Review 64:Good quiet location within walking distance of St Peter Port. Ample free parking. Restaurant food very good and competitively priced. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 65:The hairdryer in the room didnt work and neither did the replacement they gave me. A very minor complaint .
Review 66:The manager went out of his way to ensure we were made to feel welcome. He went the extra mile and it seemed he did so with all his guests. He creates a friendly sociable atmosphere at the hotel. All credit to him
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:The food was of a high standard, as a person who travels a lot and likes top quality hotels and Michelin star restaurants this hotel was almost as good. Car park was a little small for a long wheel base van but the staff were so friendly and the locals who used the bar were also very friendly. I would reccomend this hotel to my friends and will be taking my wife there for a short break later in the year
Review 69:No control over heating either in the room or bathroom towel rails (both were on). It wasn't an issue for me, but might bother those more sensitive to room temperatures.
Review 70:Good value given location (10 min walk into St Peter's Port). Nice sized room and bathroom. Good wifi access. Complimentary tea/coffee/water & biscuits. Wide range of meal options in restaurant at reasonable prices.
Review 71:Fantastic, friendly and helpful staff and clean, comfy surroundings. It is in an ideal location for visiting St Peter Port easily. Reception staff gave me lots of useful restaurant tips. Thanks!
Review 72:Breakfast was a bit rushed, not time to eat cereals and fruit before main course served. Not impressed by quality of steak and veg on the Easter Monday for dinner although much cheaper than other Guernsey Restaurants.
Review 73:Room was ready by 1:40pm and Reception enthusiastic. Case carried up to my room on 1st floor. Spent afternoon locally and dinner on the promenade. Sunday I walked around St Peter Port and then went by bus to Suamaurez Manor for the rest of the day. Again ate out in the eveining. On Monday after the halfmarathon run I ddnt have much time for sightseeing but had dinner in the hotel. At least desert made up for the disappointing main course. A great place to stay considering the room quality, but if anything lets it down is the restaurant, (whether that was due to being Easter weekend I dont know).. Can walk into town if you dont mind climb on the way back.
Review 74:Hot water running out halfway through shower or bath, no restraints on ground floor windows.
Review 75:Location (half a mile uphill from town centre), comfortable quiet room, good restaurant, helpful staff. Fair-sized car park for anyone with a car. There's a bus stop fairly close by to avoid the uphill walk back (but no buses after about 7pm).
Review 76:I was in room 2 & the window was rattling all night... Other than it was good value for the money
Review 77:A short walk into town, the staff were really helpful & pleasant, room was large & clean.
Review 78:TV on wall could not turn around sufficiently to towards the bed. Pubic hair on side of bath.
Review 79:friendly , happy helpful staff. nothing is to much. bed really comfortable. will always return.
Review 80:My room was above the bar and kitchen so a bit noisy but only until 10:30. Doors could do with a bit of sound proofing from other residents as well but again infrequent annoyance.
Review 81:Comfy beds. Clean and well equipped rooms. Helpful and friendly staff. Good food and a lively bar used by the locals. Gem of a hotel ! Definitely stay there again.
Review 82:Rooms draughty (though it was very stormy) Parts of hotel rather jaded at present
Review 83:Sorted a couple of problems instantly and politely - exceeded expectations Staff attentive and helpful Refurbishment obviously happening Close to Candie Gardens Meals good and reasonable prices
Review 84:nothing.
Review 85:the whole place was generally nice, staff helpful and the room was very clean. food good and was not rushed at any time. i was also pleased to see sky sports was available
Review 86:My room was in the back (disconnected) wing and suffered from some noise from adjacent rooms.
Review 87:Location is good and possibly at the highest point of St Peter Port but without a view. It is therefore a easy walk to the port and good exercise coming back. Staff very friendly, meals (both breakfast & dinner) of a good standard. The public lounge and bar areas are of a high and convenient standard.
Review 88:I stayed in room 21 it was comfortable but tired. The fittings were very 1970's and in need of moderisation. The bathroom was good but attention to the fitting of the bath panel which was coming away needs attention.
Review 89:The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to assit with the requirement of providing space for an unscheduled meeting
Review 90:Abit of a walk up hill from the town but we knew that on booking. There is a bus stop nearby for tired feet. No complaints on the hotel at all.
Review 91:We found the food was excellent and reasonably priced. They had no problem with my special diet requirements. Helpful staff and comfortable beds.
Review 92:The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I ate in the restaurant twice as I didn't want to walk up the hill after walking around all day, and I found the restaurant quite good. I also liked the garden where you could relax with a drink or two.
Review 93:When we walked in the bedroom it was quite hot(August weather) because of the heat from the Sun. We were told by reception there was a portable fan in the bedroom but there wasn't. We then asked later for a fan and they said that there would be one sent up to the room but it never arrived. It wasn't a big deal as the window could open to a wide enough angle to let in sufficient air, which eventually cooled the room. (We had two rooms and the other one was at a good temperature). *BE AWARE when you sit on the toilet in the twin bedrooms. Our toilet was so close to the heated towel rail. If you are quite tall ~6ft be very careful your right leg does not touch the rail. You will soon know about it! (I'm not sure if it is like this in the other twin rooms.)
Review 94:Location excellent, walking distance from St Peter Port. It probably took us ~15 mins to get into the town by foot. We also used a taxi a couple of times costing £7.20 each way. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. There was a good choice of hot food. There also seemed to be a good selection of fruits and cereal but we didn't venture past the fry up. Free WIFI! The rooms were very well decorated and nicely furnished. Would stay again!
Review 95:The bar next to the restaurant seems to be popular with local people, and was full on most nights. Didn't bother me, but I guess other people could be put off by the sound.
Review 96:Very friendly and professional staff, good breakfast, good wifi signal in my room. About 15 min from the town centre, but be prepared to walk up some steep roads.
Review 97:The staff were wonderful and friendly. The rooms were large, clean and the bathroom was very nice, we had a lovely view of the swimming pool and the hote is in a quiet location, but within easy walking distance to the town.
Review 98:Curtains let in too much light. Early morning kitchen sounds from half 6.
Review 99:Really helpful staff. Room upgraded. Lovely biscuits and bottled water in room as well as tea/coffee. Dvd player.
Review 100:v small room no internet access in room no desks in room or downstairs (I like to write at a desk)
Review 101:Comfort; pool and gym - but I didn't use them; breakfast: excellent choice
Review 102:No dislikes
Review 103:Location excellent, close to St Peter Port & the Priaulx Library. Staff very friendly, meals (both breakfast & dinner) of high quality. Room facilities were of a high standard with view of the pool. Plan to visit again in 2014 for a longer stay.
Review 104:A bit of a walk into town but not too far. 10 mins that's all . But it is uphill. This however would not put me off for the welcome and comfort you get when you arrive back.
Review 105:Exceptional value for money in comparison to other hotels I've stayed at. Relaxed atmosphere. Really friendly, helpful staff. I wouldn't bother looking elsewhere tbh. My room was clean, well equipped and welcoming. I really felt at home from the moment I arrived. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Review 106:nothing at all.
Review 107:9 of us stayed for 5 days. We all wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Manager Cyril kept us entertained all week. Excellent host. Breakfast was great and the young lady who served us every morning was very friendly. She worked very hard on her own.
Review 108:Gym is kind of small and no heating was available, couldnt run more than 20 minutes and did a bit of other exercises.
Review 109:The staff are excellent, they make you feel you are part of the family. Breakfast was nice too with wide varieties to choose from and adapting to your dietary requirements. I liked the hotel very much and will definitely stay again if I returned to Guernsey.
Review 110:Car parking was a little restrictive but reception was attentive to the limitations and helpful in resolving at the earliest moment.
Review 111:All staff were most helpful, cheerful & charming, and worked well as a team.
Review 112:Loved it all! Having to leave.....
Review 113:Wonderful staff, best on the island. Fantastic food, best seafood I have ever eaten. Great value and comfort, makes it a pleasure to stay
Review 114:Very minor issues (1) the table is too high for working comfortably - a small, lower table somewhere in the room would have been helpful. (2) It was a very windy night and, while the rubber wedges were helpful, they were chained to fixed positions and couldn't be put where they were needed. Some loose rubber wedges in addition would have solved this.
Review 115:The welcome, the facilities, the free WiFi, the speed of the WiFi, the amount of space in the room, the quality of the food and service, etc. - only sorry I couldn't stay longer.
Review 116:A Business colleague and I arrived at the hotel well after food had stopped being served. The manager/owner, who was going home, came back into reception as he had forgotten his keys. Having overheard our conversation with the receptionist about local takeaways, he offered to cook us a meal. Simply brilliant, you just don't get service like that these days. The staff were all exceptionally helpful and friendly as well. And, just in case you were wondering, the steaks the owner cooked for us were excellent. Small things like that really make the difference, and I will certainly be staying there again.
Review 117:Towl replacement policy was unclear. The towls were not replaceduntil I specifically asked for it, as I didn't want to leave towls onthe floor..
Review 118:The hotel is excellently located a few minutes of lovely walk from thetown. The staff is friendly, willing to assist and informal but not inan unpleasant way. The room was lovely, comfortable bed, lots of storagespace, and good lighting. An excellent bathroom: large bath, modernshower head and instants hot water facility 24 hours a day. Coffe, various teas, suger etc are daily refilled. Great breakfast of any styleand taste!! Very quiet surrounding.
Review 119:Dining room a bit noisy - from the bar.
Review 120:Comfortable light room (Rm 4). Excellent staff - all friendly very helpful. Particularly admired the girl on breakfast duty in the dining room. Worked very speedily, efficiently, polite and sheerful.
Review 121:There's nothing really to complain about, but the road up the hill takes a lot longer to walk than the road down the hill!
Review 122:Friendly staff, always a smile and helpful.
