Reviews for Zanzibar International Hotel

Review 1:Staff were very welcoming and complementory drink on arrival and guided tour set the tone for a wonderful stay. Our room India was lovely with fantastic decor and very atmospheric and comfortable providing is with a very good nights sleep. Breakfast was beyond our expectations, what wasn't on offer. The food tasted amazing, cooked to order. We would recommend Hotel Zanzibar.

Review 2:Only thing we didn't like was the fourth floor room and no lift. Not normally a problem but my wife had a bad foot.

Review 3:Lovely Hotel, with an absolutely superb restaurant. Fantastic location. Very efficient and attentive staff.

Review 4:The dinner/lunch menu is very selective up market eating Some simply choices would be nice too

Review 5:The amazing Manhattan room and great breakfast to room service. Also the little tough of choice of DVDs to watch in room was great.

Review 6:The place was beautiful and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Max was brilliant in every was possible and we really enjoyed our short stay. We want to try all the different themed rooms!

Review 7:chic, stylish interior with excellent food and professional staff. Elemis beaty products and luxurious furnishings and fittings with breakfast served in the garden with a personal touch. A perfect 2 night break, central to the beach with amazing views from restaurant.

Review 8:the only slight issues was our bedroom was overlooked by the restaurant

Review 9:The breakfast was amazing, fresh fruit & cava, kippers & a free newspaper. Very friendly helpful staff. Dvd library was good. Location excellent.

Review 11:Just had a fantastic one night stop over at the Zanzibar international Hotel in Hastings, What a delightful little find, from the minute we walked through the door, we were met with a great warm reception very helpful then shown to our room (Bali) very well presented and informed how to use all the controls in the room, love the shower! The bar and restaurant staff were equally welcoming, there attention to detail, humour and smiles were greatly received “THANKYOU”. The meal was absolutely delicious our compliments go to the chef, thoroughly recommended. Lovely Breakfast in the garden with great service and great weather who could wish for more! Our stay at the Zanzibar international Hotel in Hastings gets 10 out of 10 and well deserved, We will have no hesitation in recommending you to all friends and associates in the future! You’re doing it right! Keep it up and many thanks we will be back! Kev & Marise

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:The small details-the kind of things you always wanted to find in a hotel but you never did were there-the mini bar had interesting snacks, even the cheapest room had special features such as the spa/sauna shower and the skylight. The room decor-it was done to high standards.

Review 14:The Zanzibar is definitely a labour of love, offering a comfortable place to stay, filled with intriguing art and artifacts. The restaurant is wonderful, whether it be for breakfast or dinner. A lovely oasis, looking out to sea.

Review 15:Table and chairs in the room (Bali) as made that part of the room a bit tight for space. However, chosen, presumably, to follow the theme of the room

Review 16:Attention to detail

Review 17:1. Pictures of the room didn't accuratley represent the overall size of the room. 2. Fittings and decoration of the room (Morocco) had a poor finish. 3. 'King size bed' was actually two single matteresses (of different heights) pushed together. 4. We found food from previous customers on the floor (Chips). 5. French press had not been properly cleaned since previous customers either.

Review 18:1. Compliementary drink upon arrival. 2. Breakfast was very nice and delieverd on time.

Review 19:Pier Nine served up some amazing food, in particular the butternut squash and feta strudel. Breakfast served in the room was superb. The manager was very pleasant and made us feel welcome.

Review 20:The silliness of champagne with the breakfast in our room each morning, the welcome drink as we arrived and the opportunity to relax undisturbed. Oh and the restaurant food (especially the soup) superb.

Review 21:The wifi kept cutting out but not a massive problem.

Review 22:We loved everything about this hotel! Excellent staff, who couldn't do enough for you. The themed rooms are amazing, and finished off to a high standard. The food was out of this world, and it was so nice to be able to have breakfast in bed. Will be back soon for sure!

Review 23:We stayed two nights and had a most wonderful time. The room was really comfortable, lovely and warm and the view was worth the extra money. Excellent breakfast included in the cost, local kippers and poached eggs to die for, washed down with a glass of Champagne. It was a birthday treat and we will defiantly go back again.

Review 24:The only very small comment would be the quality of the vegetarian sausages at breakfast

Review 25:The staff were great. Room lovely. Couldn't fault the place

Review 26:No complaints at all

Review 27:The most helpful staff we have encountered on our 2 month trip around the UK. Nothing was too much trouble. The room (The South American Room) was fantastic, extremely well appointed and the decor was beautifully done. We had an absolute sea front view. Our breakfast was served in our room and was just delicious and beautifully presented. Everything was done or presented with lovely extra touches. We would highly recommend a stay for a touch of luxury without an exorbitant cost.

Review 28:Let's face it St leonards isn't Rye, it isn't even Old Hastings and £195 a night is a strong bill! Breakfast was good but scrambled eggs were very over cooked, a bit telling I always think. Scrambled eggs will always expose a kitchen!

Review 29:Visiting freinds in St Leonards can be daunting, it's a very mixed community, some seriously poor people living in this area alongside wealthy folk from London who come here hoping to get ahead of the wave. The Zanzibar will be for freinds of people buying houses down there. It's calm and very boutique.

Review 30:I am a light sleeper - so I would next time reserve a garden room. I find that hotels along coastal promenades have quieter rooms to the back.

Review 31:Beautiful hotel. Interesting and tastefully decorated. Staff was so accomodating. I was only there for a very short time. They were really concered that I had to leave early and wasnt going to have time to enjoy a special sit down breakfast. So they arranged to leave me some fruit in my room to take on the train and eat at leasure. Perfect.

Review 32:Absolutely loved this hotel. Were given a complimentary upgrade and glass of proseco. The staff were really sweet and I'll definitely be retuning. One little tip could be getting a better iPod Dock for the rooms. But other than that perfect!

Review 33:Good location on seafront and convenient for walking around area. 10 minute walk to train station. Friendly and helpful staff. Nicely decorated, with each room separately themed. Good breakfast and excellent restaurant. Enjoyed Thursday evening in restaurant with live music (singing piano player).

Review 34:Lighting in room- inadequate for reading Not very good value for money Frayed carpets in room and stairs

Review 35:Room size and decor Facilities Service Staff Bath Breakfast

Review 36:Garden view room overlooks an outside dining area, so not as private or quiet as we would have liked.

Review 37:Food in restaurant was very good. Shower unit with steam facility was an unusual and welcome feature in first floor garden view room.

Review 38:The rooms above other rooms should be carpeted to damp down the footsteps of people above you.

Review 39:Staff brilliant, view fantastic, lovely personal touches which make all the difference. This is a great hotel.

Review 40:The hotel was in a run of bedsits and flats that looked rundown. Such a shame for the hotel was like an oasis inside. Garden room rather expensive when compared to sea view rooms.

Review 41:Sea view rooms the best. Food excellent as was the service from all the staff.

Review 42:It's a long walk to the Manhattan room, a good bit of exercise. But worth every step. I wish we stayed longer...

Review 43:We stayed in the Manhattan room,it was amazing, we had a great welcome from Max. In the room we were greeted by a large statue of a Buddha at the entrance. The room had everything I wanted, amazing bath tub, great shower, mini bar, a real juke box, fish tank coffee table, wonderful view, comfy bed, 2 large tv's and the breakfast mmmm, Buck's Fizz, full English ,fresh fruit, salmon, kippers etc. all brought to your room at no extra cost, we were spoilt for choice. A great birthday gift from my wife.

Review 44:View of broken pier, but can't wait for restoration to be complete.

Review 85:Lack of car parking Poor wifi and phone signal

Review 86:Lovely staff, great food and quirky comfortable surroundings

Review 87:The whole experience was fantastic. I upgraded when I arrived to the seaview Antartica Room and it took my breath away! The decor was first rate and the room itself was spotlessly clean and tidy. Breakfast was served in my room - I felt thoroughly spoilt. A very happy stay. I will be back!!

Review 88:We stayed up late just to savour the wonderful view and sound of the waves. The stresses of life seemed to melt away. How we wished we could stay longer in 'Africa'.

Review 89:Parking was a bit of a chore but secure.

Review 90:The themed rooms were a real surprise even after the reviews. Really well thought out and beautifully done. Breakfast was excellent and the daily personalised weather updates a nice touch.

Review 91:The fact we only booked one night.

Review 92:Staff very friendly and welcoming . We had a fantastic room with a sea view . We were given a welcome drink on arrival . There was a well stocked minibar and tea making faculties with fresh milk . The restaurant was good value and offered a great choice . The restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient . The breakfast was fantastic and all local produce . I was even offered gluten free bread. We had breakfast in our room but could have had it in the restaurant or garden. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble .

Review 93:Bath not working Room swap on seconded night left us felling like we were being short change Seconded room was more like a bed sit The hotel needs a mantance man before it falls apart

Review 94:Excellent modern small hotel which offers a very high standard of facilities and comfort. Great location on the sea front with different themed rooms. staff are very engaging and helpfull.

Review 95:Lack of good kids options for dinner. I would have eaten at least twice in the restaurant if there had been some good smaller dishes for children other than burger/ sausages.

Review 96:Great room with personal luxury touch. Breakfast was very good. Service and hospitality was great v

Review 97:the hotel was lovely, we stayed in 'Africa' and it had fantastic views of the sea. The breakfast menu was extensive and the food quality and portion size could not be faulted. The staff were extremely helpful and the welcoming drink on arrival was really appreciated. I'd stay here again and would recommend it.

Review 98:This seems petty as its the only thing I can find fault with, but they did ask for honest feedback, I would have liked a better quality tea in my breakfast tea. ( told you it was a minor thing), odd as the tea in our room was fine.

Review 99:Loved the rooms, comfy bed, furnishings fab. friendly service, they have the balance of being welcoming without going over the top just right. good food at reasonable cost, Loved hearing the sea from our room, cant wait to go back, and as a local will definitely be using the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Review 100:Having to leave.

Review 101:You could be forgiven for spending every single minute of your stay in this gorgeous, highly individual hotel. Sumptuous, generous breakfast brought to your room is all part of the service and just sensational. Wonderful, personal attention from every member of staff. Imaginative and careful attention to detail in our Africa room - a nice selection of quality wine glasses, decent binoculars for the spectacular view of the big sky and even bigger sea, and 'emergency G and T kit' in the fridge. Not to mention the large drum masquerading as a table. When you see the brilliantly crafted exotic garden and the atmospheric, bleached wood Piernine restaurant, you know you have found a real treasure and serendipity. As it says in the very helpful welcome book in the room: don't forget to go out!

Review 102:The decoration of the hotel was amazing. I stay in hotels all the time and this was one of the best I have been in. Friendly staff. beautiful Themed room. Great service from a smiling staff. - DvD for your room "pick a movie of your choice" - food to die for. - a compliment "good morning" slip in the door informing me of the days weather and sites to visit. - Complimentary drink on the house. a fantastic experience. I WILL GO BACK as much as I can.

Review 103:Max and the staff couldn't do enough to help make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Luxurious room with great views and excellent food made for a fantastic weekend.

Review 104:Beautifully appointed throughout, cozy and comfortable. Friendly staff makes you feel at home and amazing food in Piernine restaurant is just a cherry on top - what more could you ask for! A "must stay" hotel in Hastings!

Review 105:Noise from restaurant below room was very loud - would only be an issue with the lower cost room 'Bali'.

Review 106:Warm welcome with drink on arrival. Nicely decorated. Good quality restaurant.

Review 107:Great service! The food was amazing definitely would advise to eat in the restaurant! Well worth the money!! Room was very clean and tidy! The bathroom has a spa bath and a luxury shower! Felt very relaxed after our 2 nights stay!!

Review 108:The attention to detail in the room was very special. The food in the restaurant was excellent & well presented . We enjoyed the whole experience & can't wait to return.

Review 109:Our room was rather too small and the hanging space in the wardrobe a bit limited

Review 110:The chef produced wonderful breakfasts and the dinner we had was superb

Review 111:Nothing to dislike.

Review 112:Room design and staff - amazing, friendly, attentive staff. Couldn't do enough when called upon. Food exquisite - with great service. Stayed in the Morocco room and South American room. Both rooms beautiful. South American room has a beautiful sea view. Morocco the most unique sleeping arrangements. Will definitely return.

Review 113:I liked the room but if it could have had a bright light over the mirror in the bedroom it would have helped.

Review 114:The food was excellent. Both evening meal and breakfast.

Review 115:The room was beyond my expectations, very friendly staff & nothing was to much trouble even had breakfast & dinner in our room. Had a great stay only wish it was longer, (Thanks Max) Highly Recommended

Review 116:The only problem we encountered, was that our room overlooked thegarden, and on the first night of our stay, we had a little problem withnoise from a group of diners outside our window. However, the hotel dutymanager speedily resolved the situation. Everything else was perfect.

Review 117:The facilities are guest-focussed so that nothing is too much trouble, which is what you look for in a romantic get-away. The staff were bothprofessional and personable. The hotel was light and airy, and above allclean. Especially impressed with the food!

Review 118:Room was in need of work,And the English breakfast was not that good was given butter in a unwashed mustard pot , over all paid to much for this hotel.

Review 119:Location was ok for are needs

Review 120:Sounds carping, but the coffee on the breakfast in the wonderful rooms. Made my own then That's all the negatives,
