Reviews for Corinthia Hotel Budapest

Review 1:can't come up with something negative

Review 2:elegance and comfort, the spa is wonderful with swimming pool, jacuzzi and saunas. good position for visiting near public transportation (tram and metro), shops and restaurants, big and spatious room. The hotel staff brought me champagne in the room because they saw it was my birthday

Review 3:Breakfast option of buffet only was limiting . We would have liked a 'plan'/tour option of the hotel and it's history .

Review 4:Great hotel in a great location .Near to transport , Terror House , and Ruin district . Wonderful facilities .

Review 5:I have booked the rooms on winter discount and paid about 50% less then the normal price so it was a value for money. Otherwise I would rate it really pricey even though the hotel is brilliant (let's say the hotel applies western prices in a country where normally even the luxury cost less). In the full price I would expect the breakfast to be included.

Review 6:The hotel and the facilities are great, the staff is helpful. The spa and massage was brilliant and overall we had a great time.

Review 7:The breakfast and parking are too expensive.

Review 8:The Christmas decoration was fantastic. The personal is very polite, and the SPA is good. The hotel is located in the city centre and you can walk to any place.

Review 9:Hotel was fantastic. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The bed was the biggest I've ever stayed in. It was my partners birthday and I sent the hotel an email letting them know and they replied with a full list of things I could add to the room. And when we arrived they had a birthday card and free champagne waiting for us in the room. It was the nicest hotel I've stayed in and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Review 10:Breakfast is definitely overpriced (20-30 euros per person), but there are a few cozy breakfast spots around.

Review 11:Hotel is located in a large historic building, beautifly renovated and decorated. All major sightseeing spots are in a 10-20 min walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff, service as expected for a 5* hotel. Very nice spa area styled like a termal bath. Good restaurants in the hotel premises, and one of the best restaurants in Budapest (Bock Bistro) is just at the next entrance. Overall very enjoyable experience.

Review 12:Only negative was very poor choice of movies plus horrendously expensive at HUF4500 - leaves Sydney costs for dead so they need to re-think that for movie buffs like me

Review 13:We stayed in the Residences not the hotel itself but from what friends tell us the hotel side was magnificent. As for Residences - a bit more expensive but 2 bedroom apartment with all facilities including washing machine / dryer was sensational.

Review 14:We stayed here in the apartments section. Full kitchen, comfortable sitting room, bedrooms and great baths. The spa is a fantastic. Great location in the city centre. Very good internet connection.

Review 15:The bedroom was too hot, I think they were braced for a winter that didn't really happen. It was a very interior room (window looked on to lobby) and we lowered the aircon to 16C and yet still roasting. We did advise the concierge desk who said they would send maintenance but it was still roasting hot at almost all times.

Review 16:It is the Grand Budapest Hotel. Truly wonderful. Executive room well worth it, lovely meals, drinks & snacks. Incredibly friendly staff, good cheese almost on demand :)

Review 17:Regulated access to the pool & spa area. You have to hand in your room card, receive a flimsy towel and enter an overcrowded spa area. No staff to clean up.

Review 18:Excellent breakfast Lovely interior, nicely decorated Beautiful pool - unfortunately very crowded

Review 19:grand-dining and breakfast was too expensive, view from room,, dreary!

Review 20:music in dining room. sauna. quality of the beds, shower, etc. coffee/tee in room. the 'bock bistro' was very good for the price.

Review 21:The little things that can make a difference. One day the cleaning was a bit sloppy and bath robes were not changed as requested. Some stains on the carpet and some white paint on the edges of the wallpaper. The room service breakfast felt rushed and not very good. But overall it was a great experience and we prefer eating out anyway.

Review 22:Fantastic and beautifully restored, historic hotel. As close to a true five-star experience as you are likely to get in Budapest. Magnificent ambience and good service.

Review 23:Hot tub temperature max is not hot enough, more of a "warm tub"

Review 24:Great stay for 3 night at a great rate on booking.com, clean, comfortable room, and nice pool area, helpful concierge, excellent location within 200 feet of public transit (tram 4 and 6), and 5 minute walk to Metro

Review 25:The staff were too strict and little bit unfriendly, but go to this hotel and do not let any thing affect your great trip to Budapest and great joy at Corinthia hotel

Review 26:The facilities, restaurants and old architecture of the hotel were awesome, there is a very good club just by the hotel

Review 27:We prefer a softer bed.

Review 28:Nice room layout. Helpful concierge and staff throughout the hotel. Appreciated the coffee maker in the room. Best breakfast brunch ever!

Review 29:Very expensive for food and drink - expect overpriced but found this extortionate. Staff polite but not very friendly. Breakfast was €29 each!! Ok it's a buffet but bacon was frazzled, and lukewarm beans and scrambled egg . No toast!! Certainly not worth it!! I daren't touch anything in the room incase I was charged some ridiculous price!!

Review 30:Magnificent lobby! Spa beautiful but expensive. Didn't use as only a short stay and went to the Szechenyi Thermal baths. Staff very efficient . Beds are to die for.

Review 31:1. very uncomfortable: the shower cabin was leaking heavily, "flooding" the floor of the bathroom. indicated at the check out, staff noted, but offered no compensation. 2. moderately uncomfortable: there were a few unclean spots in the room, incl. remote control, corners, less visible spots. 3. annoying: 7 EUR charge for a small bottle of water that was placed on the table w/o price tag. price was "hidden" in the minibar list, which I don't use, hence was not checking. felt like a cheap trick to charge a hefty price. in any other hotel I saw a tag with price if not free. when asked at check out, the staff immediately offered to delete it, but with a smirk on his face. 4. weird: charged for a minor donation, w/o asking for my consent. of course, I did not mind charity, but why not ask

Review 32:The minibar items could be at least a half the price, but it's a five-star hotel, so you either scrooge or spend :-)

Review 33:The location is great - ca. 20 minutes to the Basilica, lots of stores around, 1 tram stop to the metro (Oktogon), about 3 stops to the nearest shopping mall. The hotel is simply awesome. For every guest there is a wellness area (3 saunas, 2 whirlpools and a sufficient swimming pool), free of charge, so you can go to rest and stretch a bit after all day of city walking (like we did). And you don't have to regret if you couldn't fit and of the Budapest's baths into your schedule :-) The staff is friendly, very good english, hotel is quiet (it's an old palace so you can get lost sometimes, but you just need to follow the signs :-)), very clean and convenient.

Review 34:The waiter who did not know the difference of the set menus in the Rickshaw restaurant and his insistence on the wine choice. The girl at check out who was not cooperative when assisting with the breakdown of the final bill.. The view from the room was to the back of the hotel but it din't spoil the comfort.

Review 35:The spa, the Christmas decorations, the Christmas day dinner, the quartet playing on Christmas day evening, the location being very central, the whole feel of the hotel, it was just fantastic. The concierge was very helpful and the member of staff who helped me get a taxi to the restaurant where I had left my phone.

Review 36:No negatives-i would definitely recommend staying here. It was a few stops from most of the tourist attractions but there were so many different routes of transport this wasnt an issue!

Review 37:The hotel was gorgeous from all aspects and had a grand feeling. Very polite and helpful staff at all times.

Review 38:There's no air conditioning and we didn't think we'd need it in December but our room was boiling hot - we were told we could open a window but it was too noisy to leave open during the night We had a leaking shower but they quickly sorted it within one evening

Review 39:Room was spacious, bed comfortable, spa facilities and breakfast were fantastic

Review 40:The residence we stayed is away from the main hotel block The breakfast is a little expensive and not included in the room rate

Review 41:The check in experience was wonderful and the manager who took us to our residence was very friendly and offered a lot of valuable advice. The hotel looks beautiful with a lot of class. Love the Christmas decoration. Our apartment is spacious and clean although it does look a little dated as compared to the main hotel block

Review 42:We loved this hotel. Good location. Excellent facilities. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was just outstanding, huge choice of breakfast items, and well worth the price. The staff were friendly, attentive, and very helpful, especially one of the concierges who was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and even booked the table for us. The spa was fantastic, lovely and clean, beautiful pool and jacuzzis. We had a fabulous stay in Budapest and would definitely recommend the Corinthia Hotel.

Review 43:Not child friendly, with an unreasonable curfew on children which allows them into the pool only between 11am and 3pm so basically if you want to spend time with your family in the pool you have to work your tourist day around what suits the hotel. I can see the need for "Adult Time" in a SPA say from 7pm but come on Corinthia drop the archaic communist attitude to family !!! Secondly the mattresses are not comfortable.

Review 44:Great Lobby

Review 45:The location was a bit of a walk and the roads between the city centre and hotel were not well signposted, although this is not at the fault of the hotel, the drinks in the hotel bar were very expensive but cheaper alternatives can be found nearby.

Review 46:Couldn't fault the hotel, very spacious and luxurious rooms, spa was convenient to use and a nice extra.

Review 47:-

Review 48:Superb spa area, wonderful and lage pool. simply perfect. Attached is the Orfeum Club which is a lovely place to dine and listen to music. Free entrance when hotel guest.

Review 49:Room overheated but at least we could open a window. We found this a common problem throughout our travel through Europe.

Review 50:It is a grand hotel with all you would expect. Great breakfast selection (champagne a nice touch), friendly professional staff in all areas, well located to transport to nearby heart of town, rooms well appointed clean and comfortable. The spa was wonderful and the staff went above and beyond to recover some items I lost.

Review 51:Only being able to put the air con on low and not off

Review 52:Simply the best, absolutely faultless in every way, worth the extra to stay in an executive room and get the benefits of the executive club, definitely going to stay here again!

Review 53:There was not much to dislike apart from the heat. It was like an oven and the air con seemed to only make it worse.

Review 54:The service was great and they couldn't do enough for you. The hotel looks even better in real life and there is a grand feel when you enter. Room was clean and tidy.

Review 55:I think the hotel policy of leaving water on display but not informing guests it is not complementary is dreadful. I overheard a couple complaining they had been charged €5.96 for a half litre bottle of water and they had drunk two every day during their three day stay When one is paying a lot for a room is it really acceptable to gouge patrons by charging for water????

Review 56:Location was superb.. just minutes from the Oktogon and a lot of lovely restaurants

Review 57:A beautiful hotel with a very comfortable atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone heading on holidays. As well as being beautiful the staff are very friendly and helpful. I loved it there

Review 58:The massages in the spa were the same price as back home. You can get good massages for a lot cheaper at other places in Budapest.

Review 59:Brilliant location. Beautiful hotel. Everyone spoke excellent English.

Review 60:I am shocked. I reserved a room for the weekend at 362€ The bill I received upon checking out was in forints. Unfortunately, I didn't check the exchange rate when I checked out. When I got home, I had been charged 544€ for the room. I feel totally ripped off.

Review 61:Expensive breakfast option however very cheap and good options nearby

Review 62:Stunning hotel, perhaps the finest city hotel I've stayed in. Great blend of tradition brought fully up to date with modern 5-star luxury. Great value at £100 per night

Review 63:Expensive - recommend you eat out including breakfast 15 min walk from Xmas market / river

Review 64:Beautiful hotel and leisure facilities Good size room & bathroom

Review 65:The Corinthia staff and hotel exceeded any expectations we had. You walked through the doors and the reception area smelt of Christmas. With a life size gingerbread in the middle of the reception area selling lovely little goodies. At check in we had our rooms upgraded. The staff were polite and attentive without being intrusive. And they even left a Christmas card and jigsaw made of chocolate on in our room as a gift. We will definitely be back.

Review 66:Staff wasn't too service minded and spoke poor English which lead to some misunderstandings. Breakfast wasn't included and costed €29 per person and day! It's better to skip the hotel breakfast and go straight to street food and restaurants.

Review 67:Very nice hotel rooms and faciliteties. 15-20 mins walk to the city center which is ok.

Review 68:The room towards the road was rather noisy but we could change after the first night right away into a very quiet room on the back side.

Review 69:Wonderful Spa Exellent breakfast and executive club is of higly recommendable. Very good service. Lobby and decoration were just beauteful.

Review 70:Housekeeping not respecting 'do not disturb' signs, sink and bath drains were slow to drain due to blockages and the toilet had constant water flow.

Review 71:We should ask to bring us soap, shower cap, it was not done automatically. The water and wine on the table were not for free, that's ok, but a bit tricky ! At least there could be a small sign mentioning that,

Review 72:Breakfasts and room service are amazing !!

Review 73:The "only" issue might be the location of the hotel, and the rooms overlooking the boulevard; it is such a noisy street with trams and sirens going all night long. The only option was to change to a room overlooking the atrium, but because we need "fresh" air at night, we opted to stay in this room. Bought some ear plugs and it somewhat muffled the noise, but a very light sleeper would have problems.

Review 74:This hotel is incredible; the service from each member of staff was amazing, the comfort of the hotel, cleanliness, professionalism, food...I could go on and on... it was absolutely perfect and it completely made are long weekend in Budapest. Cannot wait to go back next year.

Review 75:Long time waiting for bringing the car out of the parking lot No view out the window

Review 76:Great location for conferences. Wonderful apartmens and garden on top Great restaurant

Review 77:Great, truly pleasant experience. In this magnificent hotel we celebrated my girlfriend birthday. It was the best choice. Champagne and delicious cake was waiting for us in the room at the evening of our arrival, the spa experience was superb, facilities are the highest level of luxury, everything 5*. I had some issues with my debit card not working at reception; it was no problem for the staff. Everything solved. I highly recommend Corinthia, which really is the famous Grand Royal Budapest Hotel as the best stay in Budapest.

Review 78:Beautiful hotel, amazing breakfasts, access to the spa made this a wonderful stay. The staff were very helpful and provided us with all the information we needed to make our short break memorable. To top it off, it is in a great location.

Review 79:The staff in Spa it was unprofessional and very expensive for the quality that they offer . I suggest to use the spa but not the treatments .Also you will need 15 euro per way to go to the center .

Review 80:When you go out of the pool it's too cold...please warm a bit and it's superb

Review 81:One of the best hotels in Budapest Very nice...Great team...very helpful For sure we will arrive again to the Corinthia Hotel

Review 82:Very slow Bar service every evening we went in, Short bar manager was rude and not very organised, spent more time behind his podium distracting staff than checking to see if guests had drinks or were left waiting for over 20mins to the point we went up and got our own from the bar.

Review 83:Fantastic hotel great value for money 5 star all the way but get some more bar staff and a Bar manager that's not rude and surly. Rooms luxurious and immaculate.

Review 84:When I checked in I was hungry and I went to the restaurant bit I didn't find any one to help me, there was only one and was busy, I went back to the front disk to check again where the restaurant and they send me back to the same one. But this time I found a lady who took me to next resturant Asian flavor one and told me to check the menu and she left. I read the menu but want to check the other restaurant menu but she just left. I felt like she was busy and she wanted me to leave to eat else where.

Review 85:Everything, the room was perfect, staff very friendly and helpful, hotel location can't be any better; the nightclub beside the hotel is awesome!! Restaurant everywhere, Spa and massage around you in the street, Starbucks store next to hotel, 20 minutes away from airport. You need at least 3 to 4 days to discover the places around the hotel. The hotel also provide super duper free WIFI and late check out till 3PM. No Cridet card blockage, only pay when leaving . It great and definitely I will come back again.

Review 86:It would be more convenient if we could go to the spa (swimming pool) with children from 9 or 10 o'clock in the morning. From 11.00 to 15.00 it was not too comfortable for us.

Review 87:Hotel is on a very busy street with a lot of tram and siren noise obviously sits en route to a hospital .. With windows closed you don't hear it, ask for an internal room if this would be a problem

Review 88:Spacious, Comfortable room. Excellent Spa facility with direct lift down from any floor. Although on a busy street it is good for nightlife being very near the Jewish Quarter for restaurants and bars. Walking distance to all major attractions if you like to walk.. Very polite and helpful staff

Review 89:Shame their asian restaurant was shut during our stay as we wanted to eat there, but not really an issue.

Review 90:The location is fantastic a short walk/taxi ride to shops, sightseeing, bars, restaurants etc. The hotel itself looks fantastic. The spa/pool is amazing. The staff on reception/concierge and lobby were very helpful. We had room service a few times and it was always very nice, as were the drinks at Le Bar. Will stay again if I return to Budapest.

Review 91:Ideal location for everything we wanted to see during our visit. Pool and spa area were magnificent and in line with the hotel itself. Staff were very helpful when required. We had a wonderful stay in Budapest and at some point will visit again and would certainly use the same hotel.

Review 92:Room was warm and we couldn't seem to cool it off. Made a request to have it fixed and never noticed a change. We also couldn't get the plug in the bathtub to work to hold the water, that too was reported but we never heard if it was fixed and didn't have an opportunity to try it out before we left.

Review 93:Amazing property, beautiful hotel, clean, friendly, helpful staff, great bar. I really can't say enough positive things about this hotel. I would highly recommend it and will stay there again.

Review 94:It is expensive but worth the splurge. The area around the hotel (street etc) isn't the greatest but the hotel is so amazing you never need to leave it anyway.

Review 95:We upgraded to the Executive Club and suite and it was amazing. The Breakfast and service was great. It was a lovely pampering experience.

Review 96:All windows face inside, no airin the rooms, breakfast and massage very expensive, not much attention if not requested.

Review 97:The spa and the massage choice, the wifi, the location.

Review 98:Some may find the walk from the tourist zones by the river a bit long. Others will rejoice it is not in the tourist zone!

Review 99:One of the world's great hotels, perfect in every way. It's elegant, immaculate and charming, with always happy and helpful staff. I wouldn't stay anywhere else now in Budapest (and I have tried many).

Review 100:Everything was just fine, except that five star hotels tend to have really high prices on all the "extras", like breakfast, drinks in the bar and beauty treatments.

Review 101:Everything about this hotel was amazing, words don't describe the beauty of this wonderful place. From the minute you walk through into the grand hall you just know you're staying in a place you'll remember forever.

Review 102:Truly five star, all the extras including bottled water in the car from the airport. Elegant staff who are discreet but friendly, Nothing is too much trouble. Fabulous thanks you.

Review 103:I have only one complaint, and it is with the check-in staff and desk in the executive mezzanine area. This part of the hotel's staff should be in the front line of the service and accommodation of the guests of any hotel that aspires to be rated 4 or 5 stars. The desk staffing on the mezzanine floor was impersonal, unaccommodating, and even aloof, as if they had no true interests in their guests. It would be easy to fix this imho- pretty young women dressed in short, tight skirts is not enough in my book, and is actually inappropriate. What customers want at this point of interaction with a great hotel is to feel at ease and at home- welcomed with smiles and kindness- like family. Again, I want to praise the actual wait staff of the Executive Lounge. They were and are first class. I look forward to returning to Budapest and the Corinthia.

Review 104:The Corinthia is beautiful and located near shopping, public transportation, great bars and eateries, the Danube River, and the stunning cultural and historic artifacts of Budapest. The use of the facilities of the thermal spa are an amazing value and included in the price of the executive rooms- beautiful swimming spa, whirlpools, steam baths, and saunas- a great place to relax and enjoy the healing experience. I didn't take any of the offered treatment in the facility. They are overpriced for Budapest, and I would never gamble on the possibility of receiving poor services for top prices in the massage and personal service part of a thermal bath. Also, one last compliment, the waiting staff in the mezzanine courtesy lounge was exceptional. They were kind, cheery, and completely accommodating with their service. I can't say enough about their sweet service.

Review 105:Nothing

Review 106:The spa was amazing, really relaxing and staff were very nice and helpful. The bed was very comfy and we had a room close to reception which was great!

Review 107:Be aware that the pool is only open to children under 16 from 11am-3pm which meant that our youngest daughter did not get to use the pool facilities. This should be better indicated on the Booking.com website as a pool was one of my selection criteria for our short break in Budapest. We had a room that opens to the interior courtyard. At first glance it is very nice, but if you sleep with the windows open you hear the espresso machines in the morning and every conversation in the bars as they echo upward.

Review 108:Hotel overall was very nice, rooms were large, the bed comfortable. The spa and pool area are also very nice after a long day of sightseeing.

Review 109:Everything was perfect - from the beginning (the kind welcome on the reception from Miss Monica, clean hotel, pleasant room, beautiful view on a boulevard, helpful staff and service with absolutely no mistake) to the end. Hotel`s spa and breakfast was unbelievable perfect. We would like to thank all the hotel`s staff!

Review 110:only problem was a fault in our bathroom cold tap reported it to front desk was never fixed

Review 111:the courtesy of the staff, the breakfast buffet{superb} the beauty of the hotel.

Review 112:City centre is a 20 minute walk - ok for us, but might not be ideal for others - but tram and metro are both close by

Review 113:Fantastic hotel with all the facilities you'd expect at this price point. Helpful staff. Breakfast is expensive but a real treat

Review 114:We felt that the hotel is tired and in need of a renovation. The lobby is very attractive but the hall carpets are worn and dirty, and the old wallpaper is actually peeling off the walls in the hallways. The help we generally unpleasant and unresponsive to requests. And in October, there was no way to get the room cool enough despite requests for assistance.

Review 115:The hotel is well located.

Review 116:Our booking did not include breakfast and I thought 50 Euros each was very expensive. A coffee shop alternative was not available until later in the morning.

Review 117:Our room was quiet, overlooking the internal light well over the dining area. The concierge was helpful and the business centre was excellent as we had some difficulties with lost luggage. The service was excellent in all areas.

Review 118:Nothing, the hotel was first class. Unfortunately I got ripped off by a non controlled taxi. Fellow travellers should be warned. It should be made very clear at the airport to use only the controlled taxis.

Review 119:The Hotel was very clean The staff where excellent, very helpful, attentitive.

Review 120:No kettle and apartment block a fair walk from reception.

Review 121:Staff, facilities and overall experience excellent. Stayed in apartment block which was well equipped and spacious.

Review 122:We didn't dislike anything.

Review 123:Everything. The hotel was immaculate and the staff were brilliant, particularly those that looked after us in the Executive Club in the mezzanine.

Review 124:I booked a number of rooms - my card was used to reserve and a whopping charge was placed on this even though my friends all paid separately. It took nearly a week for this to be cleared.

Review 125:Beautiful building. Spa area.

Review 126:I would change carpet in rooms.for.a.hard surface. Would.look.fresher

Review 127:Lobby looked.spectacular. Floral arrangements....balconies... sophisticated welcoming!

Review 128:The only thing I would mention that could be improved was their concierge service. Not bad, but could use improvement. The rest of the experience far out weighed their lacking in this area

Review 129:The spa was spectacular! In hindsight, we would have skipped the public baths and just enjoyed the hotel spa. The entire hotel was just beautiful and we were able to enjoy the executive club during our stay which small appetizers throughout the day which included complimentary wine and champagne. We took advantage of it daily- such a great addition!

Review 130:Beautiful hotel, great location and street view. All major sites are within walking distance. Staff made us feel very at home, helped by a spacious room and excellent breakfasts! Highly recommended!
