Reviews for Bank House Hotel, Spa & Golf Club

Review 1:The loo in our hotel room was situated next to a wall and because there was no leg room on one side was extremely uncomfortable ; had we suffered even minor mobility problems or been a little larger, we would not have been able to use the loo and would have required a different room. The siting of a loo is critical for guests` comfort but clearly proper checks and tests clearly had not been carried out. The jacuzzi was out of order most of our stay and having been assured that it would be fixed in time, was disappointed that this was not the case. The breakfasts were adequate but not of a sufficiently high standard for a top mark based on comparative and extensive experience of hotels both in UK and abroad. There was a pleasant view from the leisure suite but our room looked out on the car park and as views go was pretty dismal. The hotel was 5 miles from Worcester so only convenient for those with transport.

Review 2:During our stay there were more staff than guests so we appreciated the peace and quiet ; it also meant that we were able to enjoy the leisure facilities. Had the hotel been busy with crowded facilities, our enjoyment would have lessened so on this occasion the hotel rates more highly by luck and circumstance.

Review 3:The only bad experience I had was drinking too much at the party. Haha.

Review 4:The room was really comfortable and the party we attended was excellent and the facilities uses also excellent

Review 5:Great Value, Excellent location for visiting son (student Sheffield Uni) Nice to understand history behind hotel Free mince pies!!!!!!! Relaxing - late check out 11am

Review 6:Bar staff non plused, not asked if we wanted to dine or offered menus, breakfast only starts 7am, breakfast room terribly lit, fruit on breakfast bar fermenting!

Review 7:Rooms clean and comfortable

Review 8:The spa that we had been advised would be open was not actually open until the Monday after our departure and the wedding party were all very much looking forward to using this facility

Review 9:The staff were excellent and very accommodating

Review 10:No plain ice cream for children. The adult portions of ice cream are expensive for the amount served. I think the puddings are probably heated in the microwave and have a hard crust on the outside - have they been heated for too long?

Review 11:Love the Sunday lunch (the roast beef is beautiful) and the fact that I can meet my son, daughter in law and grandchildren there and we can all have Sunday lunch together in the bar. The children can play without causing problems to other guests and we feel comfortable.

Review 12:Couldn't fault it really. If I was to be really picky I'd say a fridge in room and more plug sockets but really was impressed and would recommend to anyone.

Review 13:Superb throughout. Only brief stay - will def return though. Beautiful setting. Interior fantastic - obviously recently decorated as it looked new. Large room with kingsize bed. Great power shower with a movable shower head (an issue with other hotels). Large free car park. Staff friendly. Bar and food great. All fab!

Review 14:I booked as it had buffet breakfast as I don't like all of a fry up, but when we got their we were told it wasn't for that day so I orders eggs bacon and mushrooms and was given 1 of each to which wouldn't feed a small child !!!, my partner wanted coffee and was only offered 1 cup instead of leaving a little pot so he could have at least 2

Review 15:Breakfast on the Sunday was absolute chaos. The toaster which had been bad on the Saturday (either black or raw) had broken down completely so they had to make toast in the kitchen as well as cooking other things. The hotel was busy and there were insufficient staff in the kitchen. The waiters did what they could but the hotel also seems to lack any managerial structure. There never seems to be anyone in charge.

Review 16:The comfort of the bedroom

Review 17:Very dis-organised at breakfast time. No side-plates, had to ask for butter, hash browns kept running out so didn't get one till I'd nearly finished my breakfast even though I was told several times that they were on their way, toaster broke down so staff had to keep going to kitchen(not close to restaurant) for one or two slices of toast at a time, no kippers. There were quite a lot of people staying (pre-booked) so no excuse for keeping running out of things.

Review 18:Location, price, comfort

Review 19:This hotel is really excellent as are all the staff, I am vegetarian, the chefs produced really tasty and imaginative meals for me, I even had choices. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and tastefully furnished. We will look forward to going again. Thank you everyone for looking after us so well.

Review 20:The place was cold on the Friday night and the food was lovely but rather cool and with little choice - same menu both nights with only 4 starters and 4 mains, a bit limited!!

Review 21:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 22:There was two functions on the night we arrived so parking was a nightmare. On top of this I went to the bar for a drink and had to go and find a bartender to serve me. Pity as everything else was excellent.

Review 23:The room was perfect, clean and well set up for tea / coffee and toiletries.

Review 24:The service in the restaurant was poor, it was very slow. Breakfast was a buffet style (no issues) but very average. We booked a D.b&b offer with apparently an allowance towards dinner. We were told 2 different amounts and then having paid our account and being told our allowance was deducted we later realised this was not the case. I have emailed the hotel and the manager re this mistake and have had no acknowledgement or response what so ever. I am very disappointed with the level of customer service.

Review 25:The location and the bed was very comfortable

Review 26:Breakfast I thought lacked the quality I would expect for such a hotel.

Review 27:I thought the staff were v friendly and welcoming. Wifi was reliable. Room was also very spacious and comfortable.

Review 28:Hotel is a bit tatty. Not the fault of the staff, but woken up by very drunk wedding guests in the middle of the night

Review 29:Breakfast was included in the price.

Review 30:Bar staff did not register food on our bill. 5th attempt was correct. Not a great problem but it delayed our departure in the morning

Review 31:Position handy for Malvern & Worcester. Pleasant surroundings

Review 32:The food was overpriced, not that great and there wasn't enough staff on. It took 45 mins to get a bottle of wine. When we eat in the bar they bought the food but no cutlery, all very disappointing.

Review 33:The bedroom and bathroom were clean and looked like newly refurbished.

Review 34:Noise from wedding party in all hotel areas. There is a separate area for wedding parties but this was closed. Not great trying to have a nice meal and conversation with Aga Do blaring in the background.

Review 35:Fantastic large comfortable room and hotel has recently been refurbished

Review 36:We arrived at 17:00 and asked for a table for dinner and their earliest wasn't until 19:45. After a day travelling we were quite hungry and with no Spa or swimming pool we werent quite sure how to spend the interveening time. We opted to walk down to the local pub for our meal.

Review 37:Home made Granola at breakfast was heavenly especially with the red berry compote - again, homemade. Proper key to open the door too!

Review 38:Both the toilet and the bath were dirty. There were hairs of varying descriptions in the bath. The bathroom door and architraves on the inside were damaged. The walls were inadequately sound proofed and we were disturbed by the occupants of the room next door during the night. The fire alarm went off during the night and then suddenly stopped again - in short not a good nights sleep and not a pleasant bathroom. The room was a family room, yet only bath towels and mugs for two persons were provided in a room accommodating three persons. The Vegetarian options on the Bar menu and Breakfast menu was very limited and could definitely be improved on especially for a hotel of this calaber

Review 39:The locations is excellent, the staff were very friendly. The room was comfortable and of a good size. The hotel as a whole was excellently furnished and welcoming.

Review 40:Room was comfortable and spacious and shower was great. Plenty of parking. Enjoyed our evening light meal in the bar although the seating is rather upright and not very relaxing for a bar environment. However, there were some decent sofas in the lobby were we were able to relax with a coffee later.

Review 41:Building work on going outside our room , lots of fire doors to pass through (nobody's fault just a pain when your hands are full

Review 42:Efficient helpful staff ,good ale ,very pleasant beer garden

Review 43:The self service breakfast is a very good idea but unfortunately it was cold, The bar selection of food was very limited

Review 44:Cleanliness and de-core size of the room,

Review 45:Impolite receptionist on arrival. Guests arguing in the middle of the night not acted upton. Guests allowed to gather and be rowdy in the morning in reception.

Review 46:The room was lovely and also nice and cleanr

Review 47:From their website description I had expected to be able to sit and look out over the golf course and malvern hills from the restaurant, bar. But I could dot even see the Hills and hardly could even see the golf course, it must have been to the side of the hotel somehow. I had higher hopes for the location of this hotel. However it was handy as we were travelling. The breakfast was nothing special, I can not judge the cooked food but the continental selection was just the same as a Premier Inn, but obviously paying a lot more.

Review 48:The room was spacious, very clean modern bathroom, high speed wifi. The dinner in the bar was good.

Review 49:Breakfast very disorganised and had to wait for the bacon and sausages to be replenished. When they did they were under cooked - Not a pleasant experience My wife ordered haddock and following a twenty minute wait was told that the last piece of haddock has been dropped on the floor - Reminiscent of Fawlty Towers - Requested a bread roll and told no yet they were on the brunch menu one hour later - Shameful We asked if we could have a room to change in for a wedding and were told to use the toil;ets

Review 50:The room

Review 51:The room was a little shabby. Broken bath panel, broken toilet roll holder, radiator did not work. Room was clean , bathroom was a bit grubby.

Review 52:friendly staff, good size room. Good parking. Overall a nice hotel where we have stayed before but the room we had this time needs a bit of an update.

Review 53:Bar food a tad expensive though good quality, bar service at times.WIFI weak in bedroom. Will be better when building work completed, spa and pool.

Review 54:Location, just south of Worcester, parking, room, breakfast, staff, service at dinner and breakfast

Review 55:The staff were very helpful and courteous. There was a wedding there and Sue who was organising this was so professional even though we not of the party she went out of her way to make sure that we felt comfortable and looked after.

Review 56:Sunday morning very noisy mower on golf green directly opposite room at 8am not good. Breakfast, plenty of serving staff in dining room, nobody approached the table to ask if we wanted tea or coffee had to call waitress over. Was not informed that you had to order scrambled egg or omlette, ordered scrambled egg 20 mins no sign spoke with waitress who informed me the chef had forgotten, cancelled egg. 5 minutes later waitress turned up with egg informed her I had cancelled it, she looked shocked. Total lack of communication between residents and staff.

Review 57:Room was very cosy, good nights sleep.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:The welcome was very good, the staff in general were very helpful and the room was high up on the second floor. Thank goodness for the lift. The room was very well appointed with a shower over the bath, so you could suit yourself on either. The breakfast the next morning was cooked to order than the usual buffet, it was very plentiful and very good local produce. Car parking, more than enough even when they had an event 'Prom Night' this was a great addition to my stay, watching all the fancy vehicles dropping off the 'Now Adults'.

Review 60:My room was nothing like the photos online whatsoever, I felt completely conned. The room was shabby, dated, and the carpet tired and dirty, so much so I didn't want to walk on in in bare feet. Breakfast while cooked very well lacked any real variety, and the breakfast room was bland; the staff also offered little service. A poor hotel... don't be fooled!

Review 61:1. Big bedroom, but with only one small window. Lights had to be on if you wanted to see anything further than 10ft away. 2. Bar and restaurant could be dominated by noisy golfers at mealtimes!

Review 62:Friendly staff, clean bright public areas.

Review 63:A little out of the way. No spa?? It publicises itself as so. Would have been good to have menus in the room to make a decision about restaurant vs bar. Otherwise excellent.

Review 64:Lovely comfortable bed and room. Nice Douwe Egberts coffee! Elemis toiletries! Nice bar. Nice breakfast.

Review 65:Bar staff over whelmed as wedding party also using bar. Could do with couple more staff. Unfortunately, the very thin walls between our room and next doors, meant we heard the occupant being violently ill all night long. Not pleasant

Review 66:Bar food outstanding .Best steak I have had in a long time

Review 67:No lift to the resteraunt overcome by staff sitting us in the bar but not really satisfactory

Review 68:The staff were excellent The room was comfortable and the food was good

Review 69:No draught bitter in the bar, poor menu selection -fortunately the Bear and Ragged Staff was not far and provided excellent food, good beer and great service.

Review 70:Good access and parking, comfortable and well equipped room, excellent breakfast

Review 71:They said our room wasn't booked, luckily we had our booking docs there were only 2 rooms left. Only 1 towel in what was a triple room, here was 2 of us, bathroom bin hadn't been emptied neither had the tea and coffees

Review 72:Staff and bar food

Review 73:The bar eating area was adjacent to the restaurant, with a completely different menu. One evening we didn't book the restaurant, and were placed in the bar area where there was no service and a very simple menu.Disappointing.

Review 74:The breakfasts, the attentive staff and the design of the hotel.

Review 75:Not liked the cooked breakfast choices (fried unhealthy). Waiting staff only served tea/coffee/set tables. No menus and plastic flowers in bottle- poor table decoration.

Review 76:Friendly & helpful staff especially arranging an early pre theatre bar meal.

Review 77:One very small point was that the breakfast was a little overcooked and cereal was limited. It wouldn't stop me booking again.

Review 78:Beautiful surroundings, comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Review 79:Wi-Fi had failed and they didn't know how to re-boot/fix it. Only one plug by the desk and that worked the desk-lamp.

Review 80:Plenty of parking, fresh quiet room overlooking car park

Review 81:The bar tariffs were higher than we expected, and their was not a good selection of tea in the room

Review 82:Just about everything in respect of our stay was good

Review 83:Arrived mid afternoon, room was ready and as reserved. Bar area very pleasant, one real ale on tap well looked after although there was a wedding party who gathered in the same area there was still plenty of room for everyone. Full English breakfast was excellent as was the range of other breakfast offerings.

Review 84:WiFi was a bit hit and miss.

Review 85:The exec room was fabulous, the breakfast very tasty and plentiful and every single person working there was friendly, polite and helpful. Thank you for a great stay even if if was only one night.

Review 86:our room was quite small and to see out of the window you needed to climb on a chair. Very overpriced at £180 for 2 nights. Breakfast was unappetising with greasy mushrooms and rubbery fried eggs.

Review 87:I had asked for a quiet room, and they gave me a room at the far end of the corridor, with no-one next door, which was very kind of them. It was fine!

Review 88:Breakfast disappointing. Buffet cooked breakfast was cold and so were plates. Request for fresh milk for tea took 45 minutes, after requesting twice. Receptionist most apologetic.

Review 89:Very clean room, quiet location. Staff very pleasant.

Review 90:Nothing really, if I had to nit pick I would say the breakfast sausages could have been a bit browner!

Review 91:Large room, comfortable bed and pillows. Well appointed bathroom. Very helpful and friendly staff

Review 92:There wasn't a bad about experience but the hotel looks a bit dowdy in places and needs refurbished.

Review 93:The venue and staff were nice and made sure the wedding went smoothly and was enjoyed.

Review 94:I honestly cannot think of anything I would want to improve upon.

Review 95:Every single member of staff was friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel was spotless, the food excellent, the bed so comfortable.

Review 96:I stayed two days abd every night they turn off the heating during the night. In addition the radiator is too small for such a big room. I was cold until they turned back the radiator on early in the morning. I was lucky it wasnt too cold outside during those two days.

Review 97:Excellent free wifi which is not common in this country but a bad smell in the room.

Review 98:comfortable, spacious room, Clean and well maintained, Good comfortable public rooms Car parking ample and convenient. Some refurbishment underway and lift not available. Sockets for hairdryer in wrong place and pull cords on bed lights too short, Overall very satisfied.

Review 99:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. My family live locally so The Bank House is extremely convenient for visiting and entertaining. Would love to stay more often if the price is right.

Review 100:A little more experience perhaps in this type of event.

Review 101:The whole wedding experience was all under one roof. Ceremony, wedding breakfast, wedding reception plus plenty of quality rooms for staying over.

Review 102:Some building work being undertaken so view from my window was a bit of an eyesore. Temporary alterations though so all good. Some wear and tear on internal doors within the hotel - would benefit from some indoor upgrading of decor.

Review 103:Friendly helpful staff and room was lovely too.

Review 104:Just one problem in room 12, on the ceiling it looked as though it had damp or had been leaked on from the room above. But nevertheless a fine shower room.

Review 105:Obviously breakfast, bar, room size and shower, car parking.

Review 106:I had to access the wifi for work and this wasn't very easy to do with lots of attempts to link using different codes, this could definitely be improved.

Review 107:We stayed over to attend a wedding, lovely room with sitting area, fabulous large bathroom with Elemis products. Clean, well appointed accommodation. Wedding was also very well catered and ran like a dream.

Review 108:There was an obvious blood spot on the carpet right outside the bathroom door. They did attempt to clean it when we brought it to the managers attention but it was unsuccessful. Hopefully they will get specialist in to get rid.

Review 109:The room was spacious and modern. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful. A nice breakfast on both mornings. The hotel was also very quiet on both days which helped.

Review 110:Don't like eating dinner accompanied by Vera Lynn telling me we'll meet again or George Formby's dubious window-cleaning activities!

Review 111:Food, excellent, staff superb. Room very good.

Review 112:No water or products filled up the second day, asked about this and was given some products. Two breakfast staff first morning were chatting rather than seeing there were no plates and tidying the tables, the third person was doing most of the work! A friend who came with us actually took some dishes to the counter, this was after she had asked for a pot of tea and was not offered a clean cup after she had coffee originally. We told the manager and he said he would have a word with the 2 staff.

Review 113:Staff very helpful over a couple of minor issues. Hotel is in a good location . Evening meal very nice and a set price.Large bedrooms which included a fridge and 2 bottles of water. Would stay again at the hotel.

Review 114:Stayed near the kitchen and there was some complaining amongst the staff that was unpleasant to hear on our first night.

Review 115:Very comfortable peaceful stay. The staff were friendly and courteous and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was excellent too.

Review 116:There is major work going on here my room was at the rear of the hotel and overlooked what will be the indoor swimming pool. Building work and deliveries started early.

Review 117:The welcome, the staff and the selection for breakfast. There is some serious investment going into this hotel it will be worth returning to it very soon to see it finished.

Review 118:Less than competent wait staff in the dining room - new waiters very willing but not good. Shades of "Fawlty Towers" - will be better I hope as the wrinkles get smoothed out.

Review 119:The location - the staff - the promise of even better facility when the renovations are complete.

Review 120:No elevator to get to 3rd floor (ie up two flights of steps from ground floor carrying our suitcases). WiFi didn't work at all on the day we stayed.

Review 121:Room recently refurbished to high standard. Plenty of parking.

Review 122:Internet connection is very cumbersome Tried to get quick check out but front desk was busy, on daily routines!

Review 123:Room was good with reasonable facilities Breakfast good Staff friendly and generally helpful

Review 124:It's not clear that the spa facilities are not available at the moment as they're being rebuilt it needs to say that on the website. Newspaper orders have to be collected from reception which ruins your lie in!

Review 125:Our room had recently been updated and was good. Lots of available parking.

Review 126:Executive rooms are in a part of the hotel with the kitchen very close, so the hallway smells of food all the time and can be a little loud with the staff sorting the breakfast out. but the breakfast was top quality so worth it ;) room was not affected by hall smell. Building work and upgrading of facilities was underway until December, but will be a excellent upgrade for them so expect a little noise from builder

Review 127:Staff would go out there way to make your stay a great one. Food was excellent with a great breakfast. Restaurant/bar food also very good standard, raspberry cheesecake is a must try :) Very clean rooms, high standard of cleanliness in bathrooms which is unusual in hotels in general. Great location only had one problem and that was sorted out well with no real issues, so a good professional service.

Review 128:we turned up for dinner just before 9.00pm (closed at 9.00pm), and kitchen had already closed. They did offer to make sandwiches but closing before correct time was a bit premature, however they were not busy so understandable. Breakfast buffet - good choice but certain things over cooked (bacon was cremated) as they are kept in heated pans, fresh cooked would have been nice.

Review 129:Great staff, modern room, golf course excellent!

Review 130:The hotel was set in a quiet location. The staff were attentive and polite. I also had a wam welcome from the neighbouring locals. When vistiting you have the luxury of Worcester a matter of miles away and the Malvern hill. If you do have the time a walk in the Malven hills is highly recommended.

Review 131:For the price of our room and the appearance from outside, we were quite disappointed with the inside. We would have expected more for £100!

Review 132:The hotel looked really nice from the outside.

Review 133:We didn't like the guy in the breakfast room who sat us at our table. We found him to be rude and unhelpful. Needs some customer service training!!! Everyone else we found to be lovely and helpful.

Review 134:We found the room to be clean and newly decorated. Reception desk area looked shabby and tired with wiring along the skirting.

Review 135:No pool but working on it to make it indoor .

Review 136:Very large room beautiful lovely &clean .bed large & very comfortable . Food great . Decor lovely .golf club easy to walk to .garden very nice &outdoor furniture too .

Review 137:Neon light flashing outside bedroom window. Bar food was average for the price.

Review 138:Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and newly refurbished. Good breakfast. Convenient location for Malvern.
