Reviews for Ty Morgan's
Review 1:The sofa in the room has seen better days!
Review 2:The room was warm and cosy and also very clean. The staff couldn't do enough for you. As I'm a fussy eater, they amended the menu for me too. Lovely little hotel. Will be returning very soon ☺️
Review 3:Room was noisy from above, floorboards very loud and the town hall chimed on the hour through the night.
Review 4:Food was excellent, with a superb selection. Breakfast, especially the Welsh breakfast was outstanding. Nice atmosphere in the bar and staff were great.
Review 5:This was our third visit to Ty Morgan's. We enjoyed an overnight stay, room very comfortable. Staff very helpful and evening meal at the Bistro very enjoyable. Diolch yn fawr.
Review 6:Very noisy from the bar downstairs until it closed. "Parking" was in a rough gravel and mud courtyard by a load of industrial bins, else on the main road between 1900 and 0900 only. Not ideal for a motorcycle.
Review 7:Wonderful large room, great staff, excellent cooked breakfast to order.
Review 8:A better descripion to the car parking options would have been good.
Review 9:Every room had its own ind style, so my next visit I can choose a change of deco.r
Review 10:We had car troubles and missed our first night yet ty Morgan's where very understanding and offered we still stay for the 2nights anyway which was very kind of them. The breakfast was great as was the room
Review 11:Was pleased with everything apart from the toilet in our room, this was dirty and didn't look as though it had been cleaned from the last guest.
Review 12:On Well appointed hotel close to everything, has a bistro serving a nice range of food. Also has a bar serving bar food if you'd prefer. Staff helpful and friendly.
Review 13:The booking in wasnt great, no idea who to talk to. Bare in mind there is NO PARKING, even though they say there is. There really isnt.
Review 14:The rooms were clean, Comfy and spacious. Breakfast great, Massive bath tub is a great bonus.
Review 15:Can't fault the place, will probably be back in the spring
Review 16:Helpful polite staff Lovely room nice atmosphere and the restaurant serves some top quality dishes. Breakfast was really good too!
Review 17:Traffic noise late night and early Morning. We was in room 9, maybe this was one of the cheaper rooms?
Review 18:Friendly, helpful staff. beautiful location Nice tidy room.
Review 19:Surprised to find such pleasant rooms and bistro in such a small town. Room was spacious, bed comfortable, bathroom well appointed and a large T.V after two rather small ones. Food in the bistro was excellent.
Review 20:Lack of parking but there was a free Clark park few hundred feet away
Review 21:The location unique ness of rooms authentic beams in the room we had evening meal which was excellent
Review 22:No wi fi Noisy room I had a terrible nights sleep. I wasn't given the room I booked on line. Shower didn't work
Review 23:It's a very smart hotel
Review 24:The waste had a pump system as it's an old building. This was very noisy & woke me up on several occasions during the night.
Review 25:Breakfast was lovely.
Review 26:All 3 of our rooms were really dirty and it wasn't a little bit, wewere moved to another room which wasn't much better the cobwebs weremonths old,you could right your name in the dust, cups and spoons onhospitality trays were disgustingly filthy.carpets were filthy and wekept shoes on otherwise the dirt would of stuck to us. There was aglitch with the booking and they had us as wanting 6 rooms instead of 3to which I spoke to Booking.com,who said that they was very sorry andwould speak to Tymorgan and explain it was a mistake and the booking hadbeen booked double in error as I had a cancelation email to say thiserror, but Tymorgan said they would take the payment for double bookingand the woman in charge was very rude always sent the younger staff toserve us and walked away from us when we was trying to speak to hersaying I'm not discussing this end of. As the rooms so dirty havingto be moved into other rooms ripped net curtains ( holes you could putyour hand through) leaver missing off the hot water tap and noway ofusing.no wifi at all,TV channels only 2 worked.car park at the rear, wellmy car is a small Citroen and after my husband struggling to get downside of building and he is a lgv class 1 driver found it nearlyimpossible, when you got down the side there was just about room to parkamongst the broken furniture, overflowing bins broken wood everywhereempty bootle and tin, which we moved so we could park. Parking on streetat front was maximum 2 hour stay.An overall disappointment and paid for3 rooms which we didn't even use as there was only 3 rooms neededand charged for 6 and we were there for 2 night,so you do the maths, don't want anyone else to be treated like we were "AVOID".
Review 27:Food
Review 28:Situated on a really busy corner and even though the town is not big we couldn't believe the amount of traffic that passes through, hence constant traffic noise. More stop/start traffic than speeding traffic but quite a few larger vehicles/lorries trying to negotiate the tight junction. Didn't really bother us but would others.
Review 29:Lovely town to visit and the surrounding area was lovely, Ty Morgans was centrally located and the staff were great. Food was good in the evening and the breakfasts were lovely. Didn't have from the deli but it all looked delicious. Pet friendly room with a side door to take the dog through as they are not allowed downstairs, plenty of places in the town that you can take a dog in to eat etc.
Review 30:we were directly above the bar so was rather noisy but didn't detract from our enjoyable stay. they could do with putting a brighter light in a dark corner where the dressing table, mirror and plug are for drying hair and doing make up.
Review 31:we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ty Morgan, lovely friendly staff, superb breakfast and standard room size I believe.
Review 32:Room 9 was next to the night door so had a disturbed nights sleep. It wouln't put us off staying there again, would just ask for any room except for 9.
Review 33:Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was amazing.
Review 34:Small bathroom but not too much of a problem. It would not stop me from booking the room again.
Review 35:Spacious bedroom and lounge for family of four in Elan suite.
Review 36:Bedroom underneath Bar, people talking ,quite a bit of noise late at night, have stay here before, was great we was on the top floor, would make sure to request top floor room next time
Review 37:Furniture in room (settee) rather shabby, otherwise everything was excellent.
Review 38:Excellent value for money - great location, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast, pleasant room with plenty of space.
Review 39:Did not like the room. It was a wierd shape with very low celings. Im 5.5 and kept bumping my head(room7)..Cant comment on any other room though...
Review 40:The location was great with lots of walks to do. A nice little village. Breakfast was nice...
Review 41:Lovely place to stay, room large and comfy-staff very nice-breakfast good and liked that you could chose what you wanted on the breakfast menu-if you wanted two eggs but no beans not a problem :) Food in the evening was also good-plenty of choice-everything we had was lovely. Thank you-we will be back.
Review 42:Location was ideal for visiting the Elan Valley. Room was lovely very spacious. Having read previous reviews we were a little concerned it might be noisy but it was fine and we had a comfortable nights sleep. The breakfast was delicious and everything cooked exactly to our liking. The staff were very friendly and obliging. We will definitely go back again.
Review 43:The Wifi was playing up, and couldn't be accessed from the room, but the staff were very helpful, and I managed to get a connection downstairs.
Review 44:Very comfortable room and bathroom, and very friendly staff. Made us feel very at home.
Review 45:Not really the hotels fault but it would have been nice to have been warned that there was a carnival going on where the street were just full of people getting totally drunk and loud music going on through the night which kind of took the shine off the peaceful weekend we were looking forward to. Will be double checking myself next time. I also regret not having the Welsh breakfast . The couple next to us had it and it looked the biz
Review 46:The room was spacious and clean . The shower was of a great size for a six foot 2inch lump like me to move around in bigger than the norm. There was cake tea coffee and water all in the room which is always a nice touch
Review 47:Wi Fi and TV reception patchy/poor. I did ring ahead and say I needed off road parking for a classic car , I ended up moving bins to get into parking area. I am sure some of your staff cursed me for parking so close to bins and I was nervous about how close bins were .
Review 48:Friendly Staff, relaxed atmosphere, the trip was part leisure part business wish I'd had more chill time with you but that's my itinerary's fault not yours .
Review 49:Being on the top floor of an old building, the headroom wad a bit of a problem, especially the bathroom which was very awkward to move around in. The wobbly toilet seat would be easy to sort out, so why hasn't it been dealt with?
Review 50:The hotel enjoys an excellent location and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Review 51:All good
Review 52:The quaintness of age mixed with the freshness of the new. Excellent service, friendly staff and good home cooked food. So good that I returned for a late lunch on the day I checked out following my meeting in Llandrindod! I would highly ecommmend the hotel and bistro and sister cafe.
Review 53:The bed was very uncomfortable. Room was situated on the main road and above the bar so very noisy. Left a day early because of the weather and uncomfortable room and couldn't face another night of no sleep.
Review 54:Breakfast and food menu was good. Overall decor was nice. Easy access to the Elan Valley.
Review 55:Just a very slight note of caution - our room was above the bar and quite noisy for an hour or so on Saturday evening. I'd just check when booking next time as I'm sure other, quieter rooms would be available. Noise stopped very early overall, considering it's a bar, to be fair.
Review 56:Staff not bothered, cheap bed squeaked, excessive noise at night, smell of open drains and sewage throughout the guesthouse.
Review 57:The decor in the room was tastefully done, if cheaply.
Review 58:Shower room / toilet was cold because radiator didn't work. Many of the carpets could do with shampooing to remove stains. WIFi didn't work in bedroom.
Review 59:Food is good. Bed is comfortable. Staff were pleasant.
Review 60:Only downside was the parking, but on-street was OK
Review 61:Superb value for money, clean, warm and friendly with all you would want for a comfortable overnight stay
Review 62:There isn't anything that comes to mind that I didn like.
Review 63:Having one of ty Morgan's apartments was great as after a long day we had our own lounge to relax in
Review 64:Wifi was unavailable in the Elan Suite when using my laptop but fine with phone!! However it was fine in the other room and when downstairs in the bar/cafe.
Review 65:All round excellent B&B, friendly staff, awesome food. Gorgeous rooms. I love it here. I've stayed twice while on my midwifery work placement and stayed in different rooms both equally charming.
Review 66:Felt as though we were inconveniencing the staff when we tried to check in and throughout our stay. Service and quality of food for evening meal very poor. Had to send food back twice, ended up not eating anything. Manageress did apologise and didn't charge for the meal but evening spoiled as a result.
Review 67:Great location in the heart of a rural Welsh cooked breakfast.
Review 68:The staff were helpful and very pleasant. If I am in the area again this will be my first choice of accommodation, if they have a spare room! Spacious and finished to good standard rooms.
Review 69:Street facing room with plenty of traffic noise. The windows could be better soundproofed Uncomfortable bed Hardly any reception on the bedroom TV Poor car park facility at the rear of the hotel as it is almost inaccessible through a narrow archway. Ok for bikes
Review 70:Good choice for breakfast Comfortable bar Handy location in the centre of town
Review 71:The helpfulness of the staff. We stayed on a cold night and we were supplied with extra heating. The bistro/restaurant served very good food. Excellent value overall for a modest price.
Review 72:Comfortable bed snd bedding, large room and bathroom. Good quality breakfast. Ate in the bistro one evening and the food was really good and not too expensive. The town and surrounding area very picturesque.
Review 73:Maybe could use a DVD player for people who don't want to travel outside the initial area.
Review 74:I thought it was an amazing, lovely hotel and i enjoyed it very much
Review 75:Clean, comfortable and very nice staff. Some maintenance issues but the pros outweight the consby far. Breakfast excelent and staff really helpful. Very good value for money.
Review 76:Dirty crockery at breakfast Uncomfortable bed Given a different room to that booked No on-site parking, and free parking outside only available between 8pm-8am
Review 77:Lovely food Friendly staff
Review 78:Rather loud and unsuitable background music during dinner. Staff turned it down on request. Something with a beat is good for working but jhopeless for relaxing.
Review 79:Generally very pleasant, good value for money. Superior food, Excellent rooms bags of character.
Review 80:Room not cleaned properly, defective and missing light bulbs in ensuite bathroom. Room located on major road junction at ground level, very noisey. No parking available for anything bigger than a small hatchback.
Review 81:Friendly staff.
Review 82:Room was cold through the night, our room was downstairs and close to road, lorries started at 4am and whilst I appreciate this isn't the hotels fault, parking is an issue here
Review 83:Fantastic staff really friendly and accommodating, lovely place, fab food, everything you wanted was there, very clean, nice furniture in rooms, nice log burner there
Review 84:Could hear people talking + television from room below - quite noisy early morning Couldn't access internet throughout stay Would have liked plain yogurt and a bowl of fresh fruit salad for breakfast Think the little chiller needs replacing in the Elan suite as it didn't keep my cool food very cold!
Review 85:Lovely staff Room was warm and cosy Great coffee at breakfast Catered for gluten free diet Excellent shower
Review 86:staff where very friendly but constantly changing including the chief. some meals where not acceptable to the description on the menu. all meal where in the bar area no separate dining room so that gests can be away from the bar noise.
Review 87:location was very good for our visit to wales giving easy access to all areas.
Review 88:The location of the room next to a very main road junction was very noisy. A lie in was not an option! A poor choice of vegetarian main meals.
Review 89:The breakfast was good. The room and dining area was pleasant with polite staff.
Review 90:Carpet in top attic room getting close to needing renewing or good steam clean!
Review 91:Friendly staff Good room with all amenities Tasty supper in bar Fab breakfast
Review 92:Being in the roof the wi-fi access was very poor and even in the bar area I had trouble connected to free access. Although the room was clean and the furniture was modern the was only one small draw for storage and a small cupboard under part of the roof. The ensuite was clean but the toilet seat was loose and needed adjusting, I forgot to mention this to the staff. There was no off parking at the hotel I took my motorbike which I managed to park on a piece of land at the back but it was on gravel so not really suitable.
Review 93:I found the staff to be very helpful and the location was ideal for my short stay in mid Wales. The room although being in the roof was large and well laid out with plenty of tea & coffee. The bed was just right for me and you could have easily slept 3 people in it. There was a very good selection for breakfast & although I did not have a cooked breakfast you are able to select from the menu to have what you wanted. This was all served by very friendly staff who were helpful. I did not use the restaurant or cafe but there is a wide selection on the menus and at a reasonable prices. Over all I found this to be a very nice place to stay and would return if I were to be visiting this part of the country again.
Review 94:Room bathroom very small. Bad odour from bar toilets. General upkeep and room cleanliness below par ( cobwebs, bulbs missing in lights and blinds broken) Food at recommended crown pub poor. No wifi signal as offered mage a business trip difficult.
Review 95:Room was spacious and comfortable. Great location. Friendly staff and great food
Review 96:I was expecting a high standard of cleanliness so had I not had to pay £10 extra for cleaning because of dog I would probably have overlooked the fact there were cobwebs on all wall lights and hairs in bath. we were prepared for some noise from the bar below but we were not prepared for the very noisy floorboards above us, noisy saniflow system, could hear both neighbouring rooms so I assume they could hear us as well. Outside there was a clock that chimed every hour! So I would say that if you were going to eat in what looked like a lovely bistro you would probably have a nice stay, but if you want to get a good nights sleep after a long drive - forget it. There was no response from the guest house to my questionnaire.
Review 97:There was a homemade cake in room on arrival which was very nice. the bistro looked lovely but as we had our dog with us and didn't want to leave him alone in the room we were unable to eat there. But we had a very nice breakfast. the town and surrounding area was very nice. The building itself is very old and I think they had done their best to retain the character of it. The staff were all pleasant.
Review 98:It could be so lovely, but everything just feels a bit tired. Rooms themselves are nice but need better cleaning, especially the carpets. There was a water leak into our room from room above, bath and toilet we cleaned ourselves before use etc. food was nice and we slept well, such a shame
Review 99:The one side of the bath would benefit from some new silicone and the water drained away very slowly in the wash hand basin.
Review 100:Staff very good. we asked for an a la carte meal on a night when they don't usually do it but the chef did a slight variation to the menu and produced a very tasty and filling meal. I also left my bag accidentally on the back of the chair and it was promptly returned to my room.
Review 101:Traffic. Rhayader is on the M44 and takes far too much heavey traffic which nothing can be done about.
Review 102:Everything was excellant, the guest house is beautifully furnished and the food is delicious.
Review 103:Half eaten biscuit on mezzanine floor made us laugh, but no real negatives
Review 104:Loved the view out of the huge windows down onto the street. The mezzanine floor and jacuzzi bath were unexpected-not that we complained! Lovely food from the bistro and welcoming atmosphere in the bar afterwards
Review 105:Staff too busy talking to serve customers at times. No room service. Sofa seats on mezzanine floor need replacing
Review 106:Room and ensuite were beautiful - whilpool bath was lovely. Breakfast was very tasty and good selection
Review 107:Not being given the second floor double that I had booked (and the young lady that checked me in just kind of looked at me as if to say 'not my problem mate'. The room I WAS given, as I said, SO NOISY BY THAT MAIN ROAD!!! It's as if the lorries are coming in through the window. 'That look' when having to ask if someone was going to take a breakfast order.
Review 108:Overall ambiance nice little place. Clean, comfortable room. Nice big comfortable bed Fab breakfasts.
Review 109:nothing
Review 110:We travelled for a Old English Dog Show , so we had dogs with us and the staff at the hotel were fabulous with them and us. Made to feel very welcome. Will travel and use again for sure.
Review 111:One drawback our room overlooked main road, traffic very noisy.
Review 112:The staff were top notch nothing was to much trouble, food tasteful and well presented, the room was light and airy.
Review 113:The welcome from this small High Street hotel with its pretty window boxes and little garden was amazing, Staff .were brilliant at all times. Menu was not ultra sophisticated but was really tasty, well cooked and kindly served at closing time on a Sunday evening because we arrived starving! Breakfast was great too and atmosphere throughout, was one of warmth and helpfulness. Great place for exploring surrounding events and countryside.
Review 114:No parking available, haven to park on road side. The premises on our visit required a good clean due to dust in bedroom and in the morning the tables were not clean to eat our breakfast, including dirty floors! Unpleasent smell in our ensuite bathroom and in the downstairs toilet, obviously a problem as three air fresheners placed in hall! Hand dryer not working in mens toilet with dustbin overfull with hand wipes on the floor as well. Very disapointed with the price paid, and shocked with the cleanliness of premises!!
Review 115:Most of staff were friendly and accomodating. Good food.
Review 116:it seemed to be a huge effort to even check us in onarrival-the deli was cleaning up so we had to wait-that as a paying customer is not acceptable-I have worked in hospitality myself in the past! Shower too small & the cost was too high for an attic room! The previous night we stayed in Carnarvon & had a SPA & pool & sauna for rhe exact same cost! I also didn't like to have breakfast served near the open door to the street when fresh laundry was delivered! I am felt a new mattress would be better than what we had in rm 8!
Review 117:It's a good location in thetown ! Parking was ok in the cattle market!
Review 118:Noisy. Both traffic and other guests coming in in the early hours. We stayed here a few years ago and the place isn't wearing well. Bed uncomfortable due to use. Furniture broken in the room we stayed. Plumbing in the bathroom needs attention. Shame...cos it's a nice place just needs some refurb.
Review 119:Good value. Nice breakfast. Nice location.
Review 120:Ty Morgan needs to check on the hygiene and cleanliness of the floors inthe bar/restaurant. Invest in a new dishwasher and make sure thecutlery and crockery is clean.
Review 121:We applaud an entrepreneur... And will support them, rather than achain hotel.
Review 122:Very nice, comfortable room. Nice and warm on a cold day. Plenty of tea/coffee milk, sugar etc.
Review 123:No bad experience
Review 124:Friendly and efficient staff. Evening meal excellent as was breakfast and service, only fault was TV reception in vedroom
Review 125:Everything. .... sunday lunch was also excellent
Review 126:Location very central. Cafe, restaurant and bar on the premises. Good value.
Review 127:Mattress in my room could have been better.
Review 128:Clean accommodation, polite staff and good food
Review 129:bathroom had a noise problem, close to the street.
Review 130:In the city centre, close to sightseeings
Review 131:bed was a bit low, but otherwise ok. S'pose we should have said no feathers - these are an asthma trigger for me,
Review 132:nice shower
Review 133:menu was very limited. very noisy plumbing bad toilet smells
Review 134:confenient for mid wales nice bar area with log fire lovely breakfast
