Reviews for Hastings House

Review 1:A teeny tiny thing for the hotel to remember. Please empty water from the kettles after a room has been vacated and before another guest checks in. And thats it ! Nothing else wrong in any way !

Review 2:Just fabulous location.. clean, very comfortable and just a great choice for a stay on the coast. Wi fi fine. parking isnt dedicated parking but found a space in the square without any difficulty.

Review 3:Bed had a firm mattress which was not to our taste

Review 4:We where greeted warmly. Very friendly. Hotel was presented very well and was very clean. Bedroom was very nicely decorated and had a very nice bathroom with flannels. And toiletries for guests use.I would love to own such a lovely property

Review 5:The room was a little small, ok for a week-end but no longer and expensive in comparison to hotels in London.

Review 6:Cleanliness was fantastic. The decor of the hotel was lovely. Staff were pleasent and very helpful. No noise. Breakfast stunning.

Review 7:Rather pricey for Hastings in early December. Rather quiet in the breakfast room, so everything said seemed audible to all. Perhaps some louder music might help? Lots of stairs ☺

Review 8:Very modern and elegant B&B. Spacious accommodation, very clean and a pleasant breakfast. Excellent location and view.

Review 9:If I had to pick the smallest of things it would be the parking. There are only a few streets for free parking which are shared by a lot of hotels / B&Bs which I could see as a problem in the high season. However we were fortunate enough to be able to park right outside the hotel so it wasn't a problem for us.

Review 10:We arrived over two hours early but were greeted by a very lovely young lady who was more than happy to check if our room was ready. It was and she was happy to check us in early. Our room was number 3 on the first floor with a sea view. As soon as we opened the door the room had the WOW factor. It was very spacious and luxurious with a high end finish to everything. The bed was massive over 6ft and was so comfy it was like sleeping on a cloud. The room had no end of extras a sofa with fur throw, DAB radio with iPod docking, large screen tv, DVD player, dressing gowns, slippers, fully stocked fridge, tea, coffee, table and chairs in the Bay Area of the Windows to look out over the seaview. The bathroom was also very spacious with a very modern suite and a double shower. Everywhere was empeckably clean and smelt lovely. We also had free wifi which we were provided with the code for without asking. The downstairs reception and dining area were also top speck decore with lovely purple accents. In fact I asked the manager the colour of the walls and he had no problem in finding out and coming back to tell me what it was :) We opted for the cooked breakfast which was made to order with a side of toast which was topped up as many times as we wanted as well as fresh coffee and juice. There is absolutely nothing we could fault with the staff or accommodation 10/10

Review 11:Had a 1 night stay as I was playing at the 1066 jazz club and was made to feel welcome, room was clean and tidy, shower good ,breakfast has a good choice.Liked it so much have booked to return on my next gig at 1066 in April 2016

Review 12:The breakfast is scrumptious! We were on the top floor and had breakfast delivered to the room. The bedroom is luxurious as well as the bathroom. Seaside very close by. Staff were very polite.

Review 13:There was nothing that I didn't like

Review 14:Would normally stay in hotel with restaurant for the price paid - however, this is an excellent b&b with very friendly welcome. I will stay here again. Staff made an excellent recommendation for evening meal in a local restaurant.

Review 15:We were elderly ladies and unable to do stairs which was the problem, however hosts were very helpful. TV reception in the basement was not very good

Review 16:Very clean, hospitality was open and hosts were welcoming. Near the sea front and easy reach to the shops.

Review 17:the parking arrangements were stressful, the soundproofing was inadequate and my room was at the top of the house with no lift.

Review 18:the room was lovely, the bathroom excellent

Review 19:Very little. My only issue was the shower and loo had no door and I was sharing our room with my son. It was a little too public for me, and probably would have felt the same way when I was with my ex husband. As a result I could not have a shower.

Review 20:There was a really lovely lady who greeted us and explained how the parking worked. Hastings house is right by a large square and the sea front. The rooms were clean and breakfast was lovely,

Review 21:The double bedroom was quite small (though it did make this clear when booking!). We were travelling with a week's luggage and struggled to unpack and store it (no drawers or shelves).

Review 22:A beautifully decorated town house adjacent to the sea front. Excellent staff gave us a very warm welcome and a complimentary pot of tea and biscuits. Well appointed bedroom with bath robes, Excellent breakfast.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:Staff were extremely helpful and polite, room although very small was well thought out, clean and stylish. Beautiful bathroom and lovely breakfast.

Review 25:The guest house was located close to the seafront for enjoyable walks and on a bus route. The owner and staff were exceptional, the "English Breakfasts" were delicious and equivalent to a 4 star hotel. The only small thing that might be considered is a telephone in the room. Other than that, all our needs were met in every way.

Review 26:Hasting's seems to attract late night 'boy racers' so take your ear plugs if you stay on a Friday night in summer!

Review 27:Small, private hotel, very friendly owner. Fantastic service. Breakfast perfect. Location good, right on the seafront.

Review 28:The once grand surrounding area is now a little run down. A few harmless drunks on the park benches

Review 29:View of the sea and Warrior square gardens from the room (5) Quality freshly cooked breakfast Friendly and helpful staff

Review 30:Everyone was helpful and very welcoming. We only stayed one night but everywhere was in easy access for us . Would recommend this hotel and will be back later this year !

Review 31:It was just a little bit overpriced, in my opinion. £145 is a lot of money to charge for a room in Hastings, even such a fantastic room and with double occupancy. £120 is closer to the mark.

Review 32:Everything. The people were very friendly. The room was lovely. I mean, really lovely. The bed was comfortable and big. Everything was really good.

Review 33:Nothing really. Just the view from the room but this was a late book so it might be expected.

Review 34:A welcoming friendly atmosphere and help when requested and privacy when required.

Review 35:Narrow stairs not easy for carrying suitcases and the bathroom very slippery which caused a fall.

Review 36:Friendly staff and the fact that each room was different.

Review 37:rooms with seaview are recommended as other rooms are fairly small for 2 persons

Review 38:nice and friendly staff, location near the city centre and bus station

Review 39:Booked a 'luxury' double as described on this website only to find it was a very small double described as a cosy double on the hotels website & there was no chest of drawers. Would not have booked it for 6 days if I had seen the hotels website first

Review 40:The hotel was in a quiet situation it was extremely clean and very close to an excellent italian restaurant also the promenade was across the road and was in walking distant of the old town of Hastings and various restaurants

Review 41:No long mirror and not a lot of privacy from road without having blind or curtains drawn all the time. Not the end of the world!

Review 42:Beautiful room, lovely bed, great shower. Staff wonderful, fantastic breakfast.

Review 43:We stayed from Monday-Wednesday and Monday evening there wasn't anything open so had to resort to just getting fish a chips for dinner which was nice but was hoping to go for a meal in a restaurant as it was our anniversary so that was little disappointing.

Review 44:Everything was great

Review 45:Did not know about lots of stairs to top floor, quite difficult. Also high cost of using certain payment cards.

Review 46:Lovely freshly cooked breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful. Clean towels every day.

Review 47:Hastings House was in such a convenient place. The staff were efficient and friendly, and accessible if needed. The whole place was clean and comfortable. Will certainly go back.

Review 48:room (#1) was too small for the queen size bed, and generally the room is way too small and provides no privacy for the toilet use

Review 49:food and staff were excellent, good location if Hastings is your choice of location.

Review 50:Had a room at the back of the hotel and it was very noisy as overlooked a small access road. Had to have window open as was hot and therefore feel they should have had air conditioning to prevent this.

Review 51:Modern décor and good breakfast

Review 52:More a warning than a negative: I was three -steep - floors up and therefore so many stairs may not suit everyone. So check out the floor you are on if this is relevant to you.

Review 53:I had the top floor sea view room and it was extremely comfortable in every way - and a wonderful view to wake up to especially on a sunny day. Shower room beautifully designed - and spacious shower itself with plenty of hot water. Large comfortable bed. All sorts of extra touches you wouldn't expect in a B & B including i-pod docking station and mini bar if you wanted it, towelling robes and slippers. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Would certainly recommend.

Review 54:Everything! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. From the much needed pot of tea and biscuits to offers to help with luggage and suggestions of where to eat, things to see and do - we were quickly oriented to Hastings. Best of all - breakfast! Not just the quality of the food but the service, table setting etc. it was the best we have experienced so far on our month long trip that is 1/2

Review 55:Hastings itself is in need of some regeneration as many former grand houses seem occupied by bed and breakfast accommodation residents. Other parts are really nice and craft antique shops give it a nice feel.

Review 56:A cut above most traditional b&b stays. Beautifully set out and decorations with a modern style. Wonderful breakfast and cooked to perfection. Nice place to stay highly recommended.

Review 57:Nothing!! Breakfast food was excellent quality-but could be of more variety-who wants a grill up every morning! Kippers would make a pleasant change.

Review 58:Ace location,spacious room -King size bed-parking outside .

Review 59:Our room was very small, making it difficult to move about -- removing the chair might help.

Review 60:Delicious breakfast made by Alexis, whose charm and friendliness made our stay most enjoyable. Delightful shower.

Review 61:The shower was too high up and no bath to have a soak! Pillows were also too soft with no head support I was not keen on the door being opened to the street at breakfast as it was quite drafty!

Review 62:Quiet location and very clean. Breakfast was excellent and coffee superior. Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 63:There was nothing to dislike :-)

Review 64:staff went out of their way to check us in with a cup of tea and biscuits upon arrival. We were offered a room upgrade and the chance to view and choose which room we preferred. Warm and friendly atmosphere, the decor was lovely and quirky, especially finding a pot of jaffa cakes next to our tea and coffee. Would 100% recommend this place and we look forward to staying again

Review 65:Unfortunately like many seaside towns there are clearly lots of local people with drug / alcohol problems The area by the B&B is pretty and safe

Review 66:Wonderful welcome, small room (8) incredibly well designed. Breakfast was amazing 15 minute walk into town The standard of the building was incredible

Review 67:Our room was on the top floor and had to climb up quite a few flights of narrow steep stairs to get up to it. Definitely not for anyone with mobility issues or lots of luggage!

Review 68:Hastings house is a beautifully designed boutique hotel and absolutely immaculate. Good location to go and have a wander around the quirky shops and galleries of St Leonard's or around a twenty minute walk or short can ride to the old town. The owner Seng could not have been more charming and accommodating. Lovely hot cooked breakfast the next morning too. I would not hesitate to stay there again or to highly recommend to others.

Review 69:Our stay was faultless in every respect. The breakfast was freshly cooked, staff excellent and the room, comfortable, with good facilities and most important a comfortable bed. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 70:Everything, from the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, to the lovely en-suite accommodation, the excellent food and the in-room facilities etc.etc.etc.

Review 71:Guided us to restaurants, none outrageously expensive - recommended The Gurka and that was absolutely brilliant, the food was outstanding. As was our stay at Hastings House

Review 72:Not a bad experience but room 1 is open plan. I like a door on my bathroom!

Review 73:Loved the style of the hotel. We were welcomed with coffee and biscuits. Room very comfortable and breakfast was delicious.

Review 74:We had room 8 and despite bad reviews, we could not fault it. Perfect for 1-5 night stay. Staff were brilliant from beginning to end and made the stay perfect.

Review 75:We stayed at Hastings House for valentines weekend and I can not fault our stay . The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 6 and it was lovely . Breakfast was very good with a good variety. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

Review 76:I stayed on the lower ground floor, the wi-fi signal was a little weak. I stayed mid-week and as the hotel does not do meals (B&B??) then had to venture out. Choice within walking distance was limited and area not the most salubrious.

Review 77:The hotel is excellent, clean and comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 78:Shower was not very good but informed the staff the following day and they sorted it. Bathrobes were not soft and comfortable.

Review 79:The room was lovely, very clean and had a very nice aroma in the room, staff were very welcoming and helpful.the bed was very comfortable.

Review 80:Our room was at the top of the house, and it was an exhausting climb. Should have been warned!

Review 81:A very comfortable stay, with excellent bed and quality bedding.

Review 82:Narrow and slightly steep staircase.

Review 83:Lovely exterior, quality location Nice sea views Magnificent superior room with heavenly bed and quality decor.Lovely breakfast in pretty dining room with comfy chairs in the windows for gazing out.Free parking very near. Only minor downside was the narrow stairs took the edge off an otherwise beautiful building.

Review 84:Nothing to moan about whatsoever.

Review 85:Stayed 3 nights. From arrival to departure the staff were friendly and helpful. Great room and facilities, spotless and comfortable. Great location, will stay again.

Review 86:Great friendly service, nice breakfast, 11am check out, fantastic bathroom with bathtub (shower hose handheld), comfortable bed, everything was so clean and comfortable. Five stars!

Review 87:The only thing that detracted from the overall great experience was the shower did not provide hot water for the morning shower

Review 88:Great staff , good room with style and comfort , good breakfast

Review 89:Lovely welcome to an impeccably clean and well run establishment. Very friendly staff, and a comfortable room for a perfect one night stop over in Hastings. Will 100% stay here again.

Review 90:From arrival to departure great service. Room excellent. All the extras. Good breakfast. Receptionist fantastic. Could find no fault. Highly recommend this hotel.

Review 91:Wi fi could be better on room number 8.

Review 92:Hastings House it was a lovely place to stay. We checked in and had tea and coffee (for wife) offered and we were able to catch our breath (as it was an windy and wet afternoon) in the lovely lounge where we could see the sunset from. The room was room 8 in the basement, smallish but ideal for us. Nice and powerful shower, comfy bed and pillows that we literally drown into. Excellent service at breakfast time - Seng and Elisabeth are great hosts, and are always on the lookout for us the guests. We felt welcomed and cared for, just what we needed for a weekend away. We will definitely go back there.

Review 93:staff, room, hotel, location everything top notch. gr8 breakfast. stayed in room 8 with 20 month old baby, had a comfortable stay. nice and neat. very clean and mordern room. well planned space usage. Will definately use again.

Review 94:We were warmly greeted by the host, offered tea or coffee on arrival and this warm hospitality continued throughout our stay. Umbrellas for the rain, vegetarian breakfast (with perfectly cooked eggs!) and a superb room with views to the square and sea and lovely modern bathroom with everything you might need. A civilised 11am checkout was greatly appreciated. All of your needs were anticipated.

Review 95:I had sent a note to booking .com that I required late checkout.this was received but only to be told by the manager next day I could not check out later than 12pm.i did not like this .I had to sit at the reception to wait for my daughter and thereafter waited at train station in the cold.

Review 96:Reception desk staff was excellent and very helpful and courteous.

Review 97:We had a late check in due to traffic. The receptionist welcomed us and made us feel at home instantly. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. We would recommend this hotel for either a short or long break.

Review 98:The room was extremely small and located on the lower ground floor. There was barely any natural light coming in. Quite suffocating and not worth the money.

Review 99:The rooms were very clean and tidy. The breakfast was fine. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 100:Attention to detail, excellent unobtrusive service, from a man who understands hospitality, would recommend to anyone. Deserves all the good reviews.

Review 101:Only point would say is we were in room 7 which involved climbing 3 sets of stairs which wasn't a problem for us but may not be suitable for people who would find this difficult as last set were steep.

Review 102:We loved the Hastings House B&B!! We stayed in one of the spacious sea view rooms and we got what we paid for! Excellent stylish ensuite facilities. Staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was fresh and delicious; plenty of variety for all tastes. We recommend a stay here if in the Hastings area.

Review 103:I was given a very warm and calming welcome from my long journey The owner was interested in the reasons for my visit and checked in with me each day about how I was enjoying it The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented My room was beautifully furnished and appointed

Review 104:Many stair up to top bedroom Leg are not so good these day our case was taken up.

Review 105:Friendly welcome Spotlessly clean Room tastefully decorated with a very comfortable bed Breakfast excellent with a wide range of choices We would stay there again

Review 106:Hastings house was very welcoming, its standards of cleanliness was amazing and the rooms were beautifully decorated in a very modern style and were fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was probably the best iv had in any hotel/b&b and was a very high standard the staff were very helpful and we will definitely return in the near future definitely a 5* rating

Review 107:Small room for two people. A room which looked out over back of hotel. ( had been offered ) different room higher price)

Review 108:Decorated smartly. Good facilities. Clean. Good breakfast.

Review 109:Room 9 was very small - okay for 2 nights, but couldn't stay in that particular room longer than that. No natural light as it was in basement.

Review 110:Staff/owner fantastic and very helpful in terms of advice re parking/recommended restaurants etc. Room was very comfortable and extremely clean. Attention to detail always. Bed and linen beautiful. Extremely good coffee and great breakfast.

Review 111:although the room was lovely, it was very warm and having the window open, we were disturbed by refuse and delivery lorries as well as street cleaners form 04.30 onwards. Elderly guests may need to be warned of the narrowness and steepness of stairs but landlordoffered to cary luggage to the room and landlady also offered assistance.

Review 112:rooms, shower rooms and public areas were decorated to a high standard, staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Elderly guests may need to be warned of the narrowness and steepness of stairs but landlord offered to cary luggage to the room and landlady also offered assistance.

Review 113:Only down side would be that our room was located above the smoking terrace which meant we had to keep the window shut. If you're a non- smoker stay away from room 2.

Review 114:Room was clean & comfortable. Breakfast was also a winner and the staff were lovely.

Review 115:very nice welcome and provided with complimentary drinks . Accommodation of a very high standard and breakfast was delicious..smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Highly recommended.

Review 116:I have tried very hard to think of something I didn't like!! The weather was very unkind and we got drenched as we walked along the sea front but I don't think the staff could do anything about that!!

Review 117:Everything was perfect for our short break, there wasn't anything not to like. Before I booked with this hotel I noticed minor complaints about the size of the room - the room was described as a small double room so that is what I expected!!

Review 118:Nothing... was awesome.

Review 119:Hastings House is deceptively small from the outside and easily missed. Once inside your greeted with excellent customer service, clean pleasant surroudings. Will definately be returning to this cushty little find. Some really nice little touches...nice one Seng!...

Review 120:for what i paid, the hotel room was very small and dark it was like living in a box,not our kind of room for the weekend .That's only problem we had ,other wise everything was very good

Review 121:hotel was very clean and the staff were very good with every thing they did running their hotel.I would recommend it to friends

Review 122:We liked everything about this place as you can see from our scoring of the place. You got a complementary drink when you arrive , the place is clean and modern and so are the rooms . Top notch breakfast with a lot of options. Would recommend to anyone . Jamie and Claire 22-08-2014

Review 123:Room was announced as "small" but it was very very small- we had problems to Place our 2 suitcases. Hastings is a very unbeautiful spot. No need to go there

Review 124:Great breakfast. Rooms and Hotel are very clean and beautifully decorated

Review 125:The room was in lower ground area and a buzzing type noise (maybe from a machine) awoke us during the night as we had to keep the windows open to cool the room. Also, curtains would been a better option as light entered around the blind.

Review 126:Hotel location, food and parking arrangement.

Review 127:Had a really lovely stay at Hastings House. The staff were superb and the breakfasts are amazing - we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and are looking forward to staying here again ourselves.

The Fine Print

Please note that there is no lift in the property.
