Reviews for White Rabbit Hotel by Good Night Inns

Review 1:our room had not been properly cleaned but staff dealt with this immediately on being told

Review 2:very pleasant and helpful staff. comfortable bar and eating areas

Review 3:Faint aroma of damp throughout and the floor near to door of room was a little suspect..

Review 4:Not a bad place and staff were amiable and helpfull. Very convenient for the village and any one wishing to explore the forest. Room well appointed and spacious. Bathroom good. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 5:The lights in the room were very slow to get bright and we would have preferred a little more light for reading, TV on the wall was awkward to see when in bed and there were no power sockets available by the beds.

Review 6:Good food and plenty of interesting choices on the evening menus. We had a twin room overlooking the main road, it was cool, but we like it that way, and surprisingly the traffic noise wasn't intrusive. Overall an adequate room with very nice dinner and breakfast, was all good value for the area.

Review 7:It could have been the slightest bit cleaner, but was certainly not anywhere near being unhygienic. Just a little wear and tear.

Review 8:Perfectly located next to Lyndhurst centre, with enormous bed and more than enough facilities, e.g. iron, hair dryer, tea and coffee, etc. Lovely, chatty staff.

Review 9:The room (number 3) seemed dark (although the weather was awful at the time) and we didn't like the 'frosted' window so we couldn't see outside. These are for us, however, very minor issues.

Review 10:Very friendly staff, generous room size, cleanliness, the three breakfast options, the availability of a great bar and restaurant. Generally, the very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. We will probably visit again in the future.

Review 11:Our room needed a lick of paint in some areas and the tv was very high up and on a fixed bracket so could not manoeuvre to see the screen better. Nothing so bad that it would spoil your stay.

Review 12:The bar/restaurant area is very nice having been recently refurbished. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable and although classed as a small double it was very spacious.

Review 13:We were charged for the children's breakfast when we arrived, even though this was supposed to be included in the price. * Warning: please be careful when booking breakfasts on booking.com !! Despite the room being for 5 people the breakfast was for 2 people. We had to pay £8 extra. The website was not clear at all. The room, though big was very cold when we arrived late afternoon. When we brought this up to a staff member we were told the heating wouldn't come on until the evening). We had booked for four of us, two adults and two children, but the room was only made up for three of us We raised this with a member of staff who told us to pull out the sofa bed ourselves! The evening meal was nice, but the bill wasn't itemised, so we couldn't see what we had been charged for.

Review 14:The staff were friendly enough and a good location.

Review 15:The staff at any hotel make the difference, and those at the White Rabbit, are exceptional. Friendly, attentive without being pushy, and keen to help. Really good experience.

Review 16:Room overlooked very busy road, constant loud traffic noise due to the lack of double glazing. Due to poor nights sleep went down for breakfast at 9.15am to be told we were too late even though breakfast was not included in our stay, we were willing to pay! Also, very mean with complementary extras compared to other similar hotels.

Review 17:clean bathroom. Comfortable bed

Review 18:At the beginning of the week that we arrived i checked to make sure there was a cot for the baby in my daughters room. They said there will be one waiting in the room. We got there and there was no cot, they brought a travel cot, we were expecting a normal cot and then we had trouble setting it up, the girl tried and she could'nt do it, then she brought another one and that was ok. The cot should have been in the room waiting for us which was what was requested when it was first booked! Tea and coffee facilities were'nt topped up. Not everything was on the table at breakfast and cooked breakfast was'nt very hot. Not worth the money we paid staying there.

Review 19:I liked the bar and restaurant downstairs and all the furnishings downstairs. The size of the rooms were good altho i had a room on my own which was very big but my daughter, her husband and baby son had a smaller room. They should have had the bigger room.

Review 20:Originally we were put in Room5 & had to ask to be moved due to the noise from the Kitchen fans. The next room (9) couldn't get the TV to work, later told that nobodys TV's were working. Needs a bit of TLC.

Review 21:Atmosphere in the Bar was good & breakfast was good.

Review 22:Our room was not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel. We had one of the basement rooms, number 14. The mattress in our room was so soft that when I sat on the bed there was a thud as my bottom hit the bed base, there was literally no support to the mattress. Also the room had a bad aroma which was obviously a known problem as there were several air fresheners in the room presumably to try and mask the smell. The room looked very tired in places, a support bar in the shower cubicle is a good example- it was hanging off the wall at one end, a simple screw would have fixed this. We were offered an alternative room (another basement room) but the mattress in the second room was the same so we decided not to stay at the hotel. My partner and I had been travelling, the previous two nights we had stayed at a Holiday Inn and a Premier Inn, both of these rooms were far superior to the rooms offered to us at The White Rabbit and also cheaper.

Review 23:Lovely looking hotel. Welcoming reception/lounge area. Modern, well decorated bar/dining area. Great location. Staff were friendly. Menu looked good. Good parking.

Review 24:The village itself wasn't our cup of tea but we went for a wedding so we didn't know the area well. It's very quiet and hasn't got much going on but the hotel itself was lovely.

Review 25:Friendly staff, nice large bedroom, lovely pub to have food and drinks in and very close to Lyndhurst village centre. The hotel was great!

Review 26:Our only bad experience was with the poorly prepared restaraunt. They did not have a lot on the evening menu and were poor at communicating what was left.

Review 27:The spacious room. Good facilities including a power shower, tv and soft bed.

Review 28:Lack of Wi-Fi - inadequate if visiting hotel on business as no facility to work on-line / send or receive emails.

Review 29:Excellent location for Lyndhurst and surrounding New Forest. Bar / restaurant recently refurbished. Food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast. Very friendly staff and management.

Review 30:The bedroom was advertised as a generous size but was very small . The bed you could feel the springs very uncomfortable , window was screwed down had to ask manager for a screwdriver to open the window as the heat was unbearable do not have basement room.

Review 31:The hotel in general was very nice

Review 32:It would be helpful to have had a telephone in our room. The whole house looks a bit tired in places and needs redecoration.

Review 33:We had a wonderful welcome from the person on the desk. We did enjoy the food, especially the cooked breakfasts.

Review 34:There was no shampoo, tooth paste, shower gel in the shower, the shower had a broken feature and one of he towels was nor clean..

Review 35:Good area, nice bar, good building all in all cosy

Review 36:As this room has an adjoining door with the next room we could hear talking a mobile phone and Snoring in the night from there and a blocked drain in the shower

Review 37:The Location was fantastic just 10 minutes from the place we was trying to reach.

Review 38:Bed was a bit too hard for our liking

Review 39:Very friendly, happy & helpful staff. Location excellent, with easy access to all amenities. Food was very tasty, with good size portions & value for money.

Review 40:The bed was well worn! There was a dip in the middle. It isn't noted anywhere how close to the road it is and it is a busy road. If you are not used to sleeping by a road, it will affect your sleep.

Review 41:Room was spacious and the food offered was excellent. Very enjoyable.

Review 42:No internet :( , come on guys 21 century. Don't forget guys your clients should be able to actually use Internet not just have a symbol on there devices

Review 43:Great stop

Review 44:The bed was really uncomfortable and the walls were so thin you could almost have a conversation with the people in the next room.

Review 45:The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was absolutely gorgeous!!

Review 46:Having waited over half hour for our main course it was over cooked the rib was black sent it back they offered a replacement but we waited so long I had lost my appitite also my wife had to send her baked potato back as it was cold in places pity they did not learn there mistake as she returned her potato back the night before also the matteress we slept on was very uncomfortable needs replacing room 14

Review 47:Very good location pleasant and helpful staff very good breakfast

Review 48:Room was a bit tired, window didn't open enough or shut properly. No view whatsoever. Needs a light over dressing table.

Review 49:Staff were very friendly. Bar & restaurant areas very nice. Nice big room & comfy bed.

Review 50:Warm and friendly greeting when we arrived by Fiona. All staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends.

Review 51:Lack of shaver point and shelf above basin in bathroom where mirror was too high ( I am 5ft 5ins)

Review 52:Location just on edge of busy town centre so not noisy. Food and bar facilities were very good

Review 53:Room was tired and disturb night constant scratching above ceiling in roof obviously had something in roof I hope it was only a squirrel

Review 54:Restaurant was good

Review 55:Thought that the cots should have been ready for my daughter and family in the family room also not enough hangers in the wardrobe for 2 adults 1 toddler and a baby even for a one night stay. Needed a shelf in the shower plus a hand rail.

Review 56:The staff were happy to help us when we asked for things for our rooms.

Review 57:No dedicated Hotel staff, (ring a bell & wait.) - and wait - and wait. We were sat in a corner while a table was ready, despite being loads of tables ready, - but apparently not ours. We left & went to the Stag!

Review 58:The rooms were large, & there was plenty of parking & places to eat within walking distance.

Review 59:Builders working on Saturday and Sunday outside our room.

Review 60:Easy parking close to facilities, breakfast was good we did not have an evening meal this time so cannot comment. Friendly staff

Review 61:The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Every time we turned over a spring would stick in us. Could benefit by changing to memory foam mattress. Also the room smelled extremely damp probably from having a wet room.

Review 62:Freedom to go out without having to walk through the hotel.

Review 63:The staff were very grumpy and lazy.

Review 64:Loved the location. Facilities are good and it's built in large grounds. Walking distance to high street. Family rooms are very spacious.

Review 65:All the other staff were a bit off, almost rude. The bar, restaurant and reception was very short staffed in the evening.

Review 66:The receptionist was very good. Helpful, friendly.

Review 67:Nothing, for what we wanted, a quick stop over, this was a perfect stay. Could have done with more tea, coffee sundries.

Review 68:Nothing to say really, it was a quick one night stay. But it was what we needed. Room was clean. And staff were pleasant..

Review 69:the room was not what was displayed in your website. It was not a family room and a make shift bed was made on the floor to cater my youngest child. I declined she slept there and slept there myself, did not sleep all night waiting for the sun to come up to drive over 200 miles home..! Horrendous..! The double bed was two single beds put together and the sofa bed was a layer of springs. The staff also need communication skills and a qualification in hospitality!! Part of my time with my family over the summer holidays, my only leave absolutely ruined... I would never go back again..! It still makes me very angry and that is why it has taken me this long to write a review. The whole episode haunts me!!!

Review 70:Leaving on the day of departure!!! Hotel of horrors..!

Review 71:Staff are disengaged with their place of employment. Hotel is tired, exhausted actually, rooms are dark and although clean have a feeling of being dirty through age. Staff could not recommend eating in the hotel which speaks volumes. Will not stay again.

Review 72:Staff tried to provide a service.

Review 73:As many others had said in their reviews, service in the restaurant for dinner was incredibly slow and many items from the menu were not available. Breakfast was much better.

Review 74:Great location, could walk into Lyndhurst and quickly get to other places by car. Beds were really comfy and I felt like I'd had a massage after my awesome shower. Great size rooms too.

Review 75:There could have been more refreshments in the room

Review 76:The shower was the best power shower we've ever had. There was easy access to rooms at all times. The staff were fantastic and very helpful.

Review 77:The service was pretty flat we thought, sort of like we might have been in the way. We didn't have breakfast but we ate dinner and the food was pricey and not a good standard

Review 78:The location and setting of the White rabbit is lovely

Review 79:Noisy doors. No toiletries or soap in shower No one on site overnight Did not take American Express even though advertising they did

Review 80:Car parking. Easy Check in Location

Review 81:Read previous reviews, some good, some not so good, especially about staff. Was very pleasantly surprised. All very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Great location and good value for the cost.

Review 82:On a business trip, why is it that so many hotels will not serve breakfast early, especially at weekends. Had to do without. No staff on duty early in the morning (7.30pm) - not that early surely? Could not check out. No lights on, emergency exit only way out!!

Review 83:Comfortable, clean & simple: friendly staff.

Review 84:The plumbing in the room was in need of attention, e.g., stiff tap on the shower and water was very slow to drain away in the sink.

Review 85:Very convenient to explore New Forest region and nearby coastal towns. Situated in a lovely town of Lyndhurst.

Review 86:The basement room was dark and had no hairdryer no main light and no complimentary toiletries as you would expect from most good b& bs these days. Also we had an adjoining room with only a thin door between and at times it felt like we were sharing.

Review 87:The location was great if you want to explore the New Forest and only a short stroll into Lyndhurst.

Review 88:no milk, tea in room had to keep asking for them, room seemed cold, evening meal so slow even though not busy and had ran out of a lot of food,

Review 89:friendly staff,breakfast

Review 90:We weren't impressed by the food.i had a steak and it wasn't even warm when it came out.my wife had a side salad which she complained tasted like washing up liquid.my daughter had fish fingers and mash and the mash looked like it was from a packet.very lumpy.even my daughter turned her nose up at it.she is only 2.

Review 91:Booked for 3 nights, left after 1 Terrible grubby room over looking a main road(no sleep).Restuarant was not cleean, tables not cleared.Bad attitude when asked for spare sheet, instead of duvet

Review 92:Nothing

Review 93:Appearance of building, cleanliness of the surroundings and room. Bed mattress worn out ,cigarette ends all over entrance to room .breakfast had to ask for crockery and cutlery not everything offered on menu was there ie fruit salad crumpets etc

Review 94:Nothing wish we could have canceled when we saw accomodation

Review 95:There were lots of little things. No soap or shower gel as they had run out. Breakfast not great. Public toilets not cleaned for duration we were there. Staff not very enthusiastic about anything.

Review 96:The beds and pillows were comfy

Review 97:the wet room shower kept dripping and smelt musty. The floor round the doorway was black and the drain in the floor needed bleach.

Review 98:we liked the peaceful feel of the location and the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 99:Shower wasn't draining quickly enough so overflowed on to the floor, problem dealt with the following day which was great but they took the wet towels we used to clean up and didn't replace them or the floor mat.

Review 100:Helpful friendly staff, great for late arrivals

Review 101:Food was disgusting nearly broke a tooth on the badly burnt bacon sandwich. Room was very poor and all conversations and door banging could easily be heard throughout , would never recommend the place to anyone.

Review 102:Bathroom dirty on arrival Main light broken in room, not fixed when promised would get sorted Our room at back of hotel near fire exit, revolting overflowing bins near exit point Not nice environment for young children Had to ask for clean towels as towels not changed following day Reception staff sat on iPhone, practically ignoring me stood there waiting. Not exactly busy at the time!

Review 103:Good location

Review 104:Staff unhelpful. Service slow, dirty glasses and tables not cleaned. Breakfast not up to standard, sausage like leather, couldn't even cut it! Seem to be no manager in charge. Had to chase up for wine menu, took 30mins to get a drink at our table, then had to chase up for menus for our meal. No teaspoons at breakfast, cutlery unclean.

Review 105:Great location in the New Forest

Review 106:The breakfast took a long time to arrive in the morning as there appeared to be only 1 person at front of house working. The help yourself cereal, juice, pastries, coffee, tea etc was basically empty on both mornings and took a while to fill up. We paid the same price as friends for our room and they got a better, bigger room.

Review 107:The location was excellent and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was nice when it arrived. The building looks nice and the bar area looked comfortable

Review 108:Beds uncomfortable. Room too hot and no windows to be opened ! Had to rely on fan at night to keep cool which was noisy. TV kept changing channel while watching it & re-tuned itself ! Only 4 hangers for 4 people for 4 nights ! No soap not enough towels etc etc

Review 109:Location good for all New Forest amenities and close to high Street of Lyndhurst. £50 deducted from bill due to several bad comments.

Review 110:Room ok for space, clean bedding, but very old mattress that sunk in themiddle therefore not allowing a good nights sleep as we kept rollinginto the centre of bed, not allowing us to sleep properly. The bathroomtoilet and sink were clean, but the shower was very blocked withlimescale, and all the surrounding tiles had weeks and weeks oflimescale build up and were orange in colour. The smell coming from thedrain waste was awful. We were no 16, the first room opposite the doorleading to the car park, and the foul smell was really bad. Mostlybecause the people who went out left the door open, we were foreverclosing this door as the smell came straight into our room. Thebreakfast cereals and toast/crumpets/tea cakes were ok, but whenthe cooked breakfast came (bearing in mind it should have been cooked toorder,) as the waitress asked what you wanted ,. was absolutely awful. There were 3 other tables around us, and they all looked at it testedit, and then left it. There was nobody to complain to,only the waitress, and all she did was bring out more of the same cold not properly cookedfood. The bacon had obviously just been left in an oven for a very longwhile, it certainly was not fried to order, the dirty looking egg wassolid and dry, and the beans were cold.

Review 111:Nothing, there was to many dislikes, (as mentioned in the other box). Weare sorry to have to complain, but this is the first time in at leastthe ten years of using your company that we have ever been disappointedwith the accommodation.

Review 112:room had steps leading up/down to door which isn't ideal with toddler running around. Little one waited an hour for her dinner and we waited two(restaurant wasn't even busy)food was just warm and hubby got food poisoning! Breakfast was poor and a rip off for the money it cost. Tables were sticky. Window in room only opened an inch and it was v.warm. When I mentioned all this to member of staff when checking out he gave a half hearted apology.

Review 113:Location good for travelling to Paultons Park

Review 114:Having booked an evening meal we wanted a light lunch on arrival, told only main meals, so we walked to town centre to have lunch. Would of sooner spend our time in the sun enjoying a drink and light bite there in pub garden, Was a shame as I felt the restaurant was quiet, I was surprised our custom was turned away ! Room was tired, light above shower didn't work, wires hanging out plug at TV. Sink was slow to drain water in bathroom. Generally tired.

Review 115:The room, bedding, towels were very clean, good value for money.

Review 116:Bed springs made noise every time you moved but bed was comfy and bedding very nice. Not many plug outlets and in bad position. 2 of the 3 room lights did not work. No toiletries and minimal coffee making. Door at top of stairs (lower bedrooms) bangs very loudly and external door does not self close so was often open all night not good for security.

Review 117:Nice place just off the high street. Good menu choices. Nice beer garden shame the patio heater didnt work. Large car park. Very pleasant but few staff. Rooms perfectly fine for a short stay with large shower cubicle. I would stay again and would reccomend to others. Hairdryer, Iron and board in room :-)

Review 118:Not a bad experience exactly but we were given a room suitable for a disabled person/couple and found it very inconvenient as mirrors too low and no chair to sit on.

Review 119:The first night we had a downstairs room. It was damp and smelly. We moved for the next three nights to the 1st floor which was better.

Review 120:The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 121:Electronic lock out of order Unable to lock room. The fault was known at the time of accepting our booking.

Review 122:The hotel offered a reduction in tariff due to the faulty room lock

Review 123:Staff manners, lack of choice on menu ie no food as no delivery. No replenishing in room ie tea milk coffee toilet roll.

Review 124:Bar man very friendly. Location

Review 125:Great sized room and very comfortable. Staff were great and friendly. A little disorganised as one night we were going to stay for dinner but a 3rd of the menu wasn't available. We went to the local chinese.

Review 126:To many stairs (27) to the room we had, I had mention my wife has trouble with stairs on the booking form, if that was the only room left, why was I not contacted to give me time to change the booking. Service was slow on booking in & at meals,

Review 127:The room facilities where Ok but there was no hair dryer, we informed the staff on the first day & where told that it would be done. No hair dryer turned up.

Review 128:The accommodation is basic and the room was unbearably hot.

Review 129:The staff were excellent very friendly and quick to help where they could. Even under pressure as they evidentially were. The food was excellent and tasted great. The location is very beautiful.

Review 130:No staff to serve at meal times. It took us 2 hours to have 2 courses and finally decided not to have desert as it was the children's bedtime. Great tasting food but took very long. They were very short staffed.

Review 131:Great location and excellent setting.

Review 132:Would have liked another sheet to use as a top sheet, under the duvet.

Review 133:Parking available on site. We requested a ground floor room and this was given. Meals were delicious and staff helpful.

Review 134:allocated room 16 but found if you had a shower the carpet outside got wet and musty smell.

Review 135:Excellent breakfast. Had evening meal on one occasion and again good value .

Review 136:Only one selection of beer, no fruit, yogurt or jams at breakfast. Limited choice of evening meals and up to one hour wait for dinner even though pub was nearly empty.

Review 137:Did not like the fact that there was no lock on the room doo rand nothing was done about it..The room was in need of redecoration needed to be a lot brighter. there was not a lot of choice on the menu, could not get fried eggs at breakfast but they were on the menu.

Review 138:Dinner and breakfast continental breakfast no yogurt or fruit available poor celetection of cereal Breakfast area crampted right next to busy road - with quiet large room at rear unused!

Review 139:Room and bed

Review 140:Maybe the stairs could be a little awkward for older people and there is no lift.

Review 141:Friendly helpful staff. Our room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Hotel very close to the high street shops etc and from our room we could see New Forest ponies grazing near the golf course. No wifi but got a good connection with sky cloud. We liked the Alice Liddell references in the hotel, Lyndhurst being where she spent her later life.
