Reviews for Jolly Sailor Inn

Review 1:Its position was not perfect - especially in cold wet weather - as it is on the other side of the river from the main town. There is a ferry across but it was not operating.

Review 2:Very friendly host, great shower and beaut breakfast. The hotel has lots of character and is worth a visit.

Review 3:Parking wasn't ideal but I appreciate that Looe has parking spaces at a premium so at least there was space available even if it was behind other guests cars

Review 4:Friendly staff and good location

Review 5:They could do with some nicer lighting in bedroom, lamps maybe?and better lighting in bathroom. Also, some hooks in bathroom.

Review 6:Lovely welcome, good breakfast, nice room, tea & coffee making facilities, telly.

Review 7:Nothing all good shame no bar snacks available but 5min walk to get food

Review 8:Good location charming old traditional pub friendly staff nice atmosphere in the bar good range real ales good fresh cooked breakfast

Review 9:car park was a joke. very tight squeeze to get in and out. In the end parked on the quay for 2 nights and had to pay £6 per night. Didn't find other/bar staff very welcoming.

Review 10:Great location. Good breakfast served by very friendly lady. Good location for touring other parts of Cornwall and attractions, gardens etc.

Review 11:Could not connect to wi fi,no great loss! Folk night people did not seem to be very welcoming

Review 12:Big room with a very comfy bed,good staff and a lovely pint{or two}.

Review 13:As with all of Looe car parking is very difficult and expensive overnight. But our friendly landlord and his wife provided juggling of cars to ensure all guests cars were accommodated.

Review 15:we have stopped there in the past, always loved it We are both real ale drinkers and as usual it was perfect thank you.,we will be returning.Alan Watkins

Review 16:Nothing, it was all great!!!

Review 17:Really friendly staff who can't do enough to help and make you feel at home. Rooms were a very good size and immaculately clean! Breakfast in the morning was top notch, we had the full English but there was also a selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit and toast with jams which you can help yourself too. Would definitely recommend!! And best of all you have the pub downstairs!

Review 18:With it being such an old building the walls between the rooms and very thin. We could here every word of conversation from the next room.

Review 19:Friendly staff, spacious and clean room, nice pub and perfect location. Breakfast also very good.

Review 20:The parking was difficult but that was the same for most people at Looe. The staff once again sorted us out though. Fresh fruit at breakfast would have been nice.

Review 21:Staff and locals very friendly and we were lucky to have a group playing folk music in the evening.

Review 22:We were happy with everything and very welcomed by a lovely young lady, who was very helpful and informative. The room had everything we needed, was clean and the bed was comfyer than our own :0) would certainly stay here again and would also recommend it.

Review 23:Parking was always available, sometimes a bit tight, but landlady was very helpful

Review 24:Breakfasts - plenty of choice and freshly prepared. There are very steep hills in Looe however this pub is almost on the quay side, so no hills. Wonderful, helpful, happy staff.

Review 25:The staff were lovely. I've stayed here as a child and when I decided to take a holiday to Cornwall with my partner, I knew for definite I'd want to visit the jolly sailor again as I enjoyed my first stay as a child so much. The building is gorgeous to look at, the atmosphere is great and it was generally such a lovely stay. Thank you to all the staff. I am sure to stay again in the future!

Review 26:Didn't like the walk up the steep stairs to get to our room But fully understand this is just how it is in Looe .

Review 27:Lovely comfortable bed lovely spacious room

Review 29:We had a wonderful spacious room ,lovely breakfasts and ,the owners and staff were brilliant , would recommend the Jolly Sailor to anybody

Review 30:Unfortunately we had bad weather on both days??? but just made the best of it.

Review 31:Lovely seaside location. Within travelling distance of other Cornish resorts.

Review 32:The staff were brilliant, friendly, helpful & just wanted to give us the best possible service. The room was spacious with a big four poster bed. A 2 seater sofa to watch tv from instead of having to lie on the bed. Everything to hand i.e kettle, tea, coffee, towels, hair dryer etc Beautiful big wooden wardrobe n furniture-really lovely. Clean en suite with all mod cons. A good British cooked breakfast to start the day, we would certainly stay there again.

Review 33:Parking was really difficult. This is primarily a bar, so the staff was not very helpful or much interested in accommodating hotel guests. You were pretty much on your own.

Review 34:I liked the historic charm of staying in a really old English inn. The location in the center of a charming old seaport town was great.

Review 35:As already mentioned, as breakfast was good, shame no evening meals available

Review 36:Fantastic location and interesting old building. Good entertainment one night! Breakfast choice and presentation very good. Taste as well! Shame no evening meals at present. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 39:Spent one night in this welcoming quay-side pub with B&B rooms in excellent location, with great breakfast. Lovely touches in the room - bottled water especially. Plus you can charge your bar bill to the room :)

Review 40:Weather was poor not anyone's fault but did notice when bad weather room 4 lost tv signal. But my biggest disapointment was the sea shanty folk evenings I found several of the locals none to polite as we were ask on three occasions to move so they could set up there equipment about a dozen of us were in the way with no where left to sit we left it did not spoil what was a nice visit I would go again

Review 41:Lovely location right in the centre of looe. Car parking was found which was a bonus with prices in the area breakfast was good and bed comfortable enjoyable

Review 42:The free wifi wasn't that good. It was fine in the bar downstairs but the one available in the room (Free_pub_wifi or something similar) you had to log into every half hour. I only found this out once I asked the barman who was very helpful.

Review 43:It was in a boozer that sold Jail Ale. The breakfast was good and the lady serving was great.

Review 44:Nothing. This is an idyllic stay from the four poster bed to the gigantic modern bathroom. No one could ever complain, it's perfect.

Review 45:Fabulous, fantastic old coaching house accommodation lovingly furnished, beautifully restored and owned by Stuart and his lovely staff who will make your stay a comfortable sociable experience. Ideal location, little boat shuttle across the bay is a fun 50p - great fun. Continental brekkie includes smoked salmon and I can vouch for the full English fry-up with tea and toast!

Review 46:Car parking was an issue but staff were very helpful with this.

Review 47:Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. great location in easy walking distance to lo al shops, restaurants and pubs. well appointed clean room. great breakfast

Review 51:Parking is restricted and could be a bit of a lottery in high season. However, we did not incur any parking problems during our stay.

Review 52:Lovely room(3) with views across the harbour. Spacious room with settee etc.

Review 53:It's the sort of place where we really enjoy staying - a 'proper' pub with excellent beer & service, & with good accommodation - a pub that the locals use (always a good sign). Breakfast simply the best I've had for years. The staff particularly friendly & helpful - our thanks to them.

Review 54:Parking might be difficult but we were ok - arrive early is the best advice.

Review 55:Overall a good package with friendly bar and good range of beers. Staff welcoming and helpful.

Review 56:Although free parking, horredously small awkward spaces. Very noisey till 11pm due to folk group meeting, then woke at 6am due to Spar delivery and very thin rooms to wall. Average breakfast. Cheaper at a Premier Inn and much better quality.

Review 57:Staff were very friendly.

Review 58:Parking is probably a bit challenging at peak, but they handle it well.

Review 59:The helpful staff and breakfast were excellent, very convenient location for shops and boats.

Review 63:The onsite parking was limited and a bit tricky on a busy day!

Review 64:Very good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very comfy and the breakfast on offer was great.

Review 65:Happened on this traditional old Pub by chance on a cold, windy and wet day in Looe. Can't believe how lucky we were - staff and locals extremely friendly, accommodation outstanding and breakfast scrumptious. If you are looking for Olde World Charm this is the place with loads of benefits.

Review 68:On arrival we was seen to by the bar man who gave us a key and pointed in the direction of the door to the stairs. No directions on where too park and no help to carry the bags and show us up to the room.

Review 69:Cracking bedroom , one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in with a decent breakfast served by pleasant woman in the morning.

Review 70:Breakfast needs to come into the modern era, tinned tomatoes and baked beans on the same luke warm plate, are really a non starter in this day and age, plus the only heater in the bar at breakfast doubles as a toaster !
