Reviews for Severn View Hotel
Review 1:The room was absolutely freezing! heater hardly ever on and this is in winter. I went there for a rest and could not stay in the room during the day as it was too cold. Room smelt mouldy, whole place in dire need of an update..
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:Shower was hanging off the wall, had to shower in another room but was not given the option to have that empty room. Room a bit dirty and dated, single panel glass and a thin blanket left me cold. Worst thing by far was that breakfast services apparently finished at 9am new years day, so when I woke up needing a meal i was very disappointed.
Review 4:Staff on arrival were pleasant, staff on departure not so much.
Review 5:This B&B is not lke the pics and is very misleading as it is very tired and grubby although linen and towels were clean the room we stayed in was very very cold as rain water came through the very grubby peeling old sash windows. The people who served breakfast spoke very little English although polite but the toast was very anemic to say the least (WHITE) and the bacon and tomato looked like it had been cooked in a very old pan or grill as it was covered in black bits .We checked out a day early because we could'nt stand how freezing the room was but did not enjoy the atmosphere at all.
Review 6:The location which was by the river Severn and not far from town for shopping and local bars and pubs
Review 7:Car parking was a problem and a rip off . The hotel suite was large but very dated the bathroom was in need of help large cracking in Bath which was dirty shower almost worked TV had no channels and had numerous wires hanging from it the roof leaked in when it rained in the lounge area the fan in the bathroom was wedged in with paper
Review 8:Room was cold and drafty especially on the two nights that the heating wasn't on. Breakfast was served too late for me to have it.
Review 9:Good size room and comfy bed. Good furnishings. Good TV.
Review 10:Room ok , windows in poor condition letting in very noticeable cold draft, clean enough. Stairs and landing carpet needs replacing, dirty and worn. Breakfast room reached by passing through an untidy storage area, walls and skirting in breakfast area require urgent paint job. Breakfast could have been good, ingredients fine, but both our fried eggs were not cooked, and cold.
Review 11:Good location a few minutes walk to town centre. Attractive city with mix of old and new. Lots of historic architecture.
Review 12:Broken window in bedroom which let in a draft. Very noisy room from the traffic outside. The stairway smelt damp and musty.
Review 13:Comfortable bed, clean sheets.
Review 14:Busy road at peak times, but I was aware of this on booking and wasn't a problem as such; it is inexpensive and you get what you pay for!
Review 15:Location excellent for my needs. Basic accommodation; décor old and scrappy but not expensive and therefore good value for money. Clean bedroom and bathroom. Staff cheerful and helpful.
Review 16:Bedroom was small n had a horrible smell, the bed was uncomfortable and noisy if you moved slightly. They ask you to sign a bit of paper on check in- read it first!!!!! Says that you have seen the room and your happy to stay (my mistake, should have read it first!)
Review 17:The hotel is an annex to a pub. The reception is the size of an undecorated cupboard with no receptionist. You are required to make a telephone call at your own expense to alert someone. No one answered and so I left the premises
Review 18:The hotel was very cold and the central heating worked only intermittently. The TV in our room did not work, and although we mentioned this twice, nothing was done about it. Damp was evident by the smell in the reception area. Window frames were very old, tatty and dirty.
Review 19:This hotel is in an excellent location, overlooking the river and a few minutes walk from the city centre. There was a good supply of toiletries and tea/coffee.
Review 20:The staff very friendly. Room wasn't that good blood stain on mattress so slept on towels under the sheets. The bathroom leaky toilet shower head very dirty never used it breakfast was very nice
Review 21:There was a hole in the window a couple of inches wide, room was very draughty, dead wasp and chewing gum on the window too.. Breakfast was very greasy.
Review 22:Nice view of the river, quiet (apart from the drunk argument outside my window), stayed after a gig at Huntingdon Hall (great location for this) as no late trains and the hotel was good value for money compared to other hotels in the area.
Review 23:Wall paper falling off windows in terrible state shower terrible dirty hardly worked hall really smelly heating didn't work breakfast bit greasy
Review 24:Bedding was very clean breakfast ok ish location was good looking out over river was good
Review 25:Very poor internal decoration. No wifi available. Lock on door loose. TV control worked for a few minutes. Shower was shabby/mouldy, water boiling then freezing, sink had huge crack across it, toilet flush was like nothing I've heard. One blanket so used towel and my coat to keep warm. Breakfast time too late. Have yet to receive refund for 2nd night.
Review 26:Guy at the desk was helpful. His colleague was helpful when I had to call paramedics for a breathing difficulty later that night.
Review 27:the whole hotel is in need of TLC, wall sockets hanging off wall. Stairs and doors creak hinges could do with oiling or renewing. If owners could re decorate thsi hotel/Pub could be really nice looking.
Review 28:Room was clean & tidy, comfortable bed. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 29:traffic noise too loud no double glazing room in need of full refurbishment but clean, bed's on near collapse i.e. Head board falling of mattress too hard ????
Review 30:nothing we will not stay there ever again
Review 31:The room was dirty, wooden headboards broken, carpet dirty, room stunk. If we hadn't paid beforehand we wouldn't have stayed. It's not fit for anyone to stay in..
Review 32:Wish I could find something positive to say.
Review 33:Comfortable and warm room, very friendly and helpful staff. Made to feel very welcome! Close to town centre, and easy parking. Would recommend to anyone needing accommodation. I would stay here again.
Review 34:One of the beds in our room was so uncomfortable, the springs were sticking out of the mattress. The bathroom was very tired, didn't appear very clean and the shower fitting was not secured to the wall. The room was very noisy. Morning breakfast staff were not very friendly and seemed to be annoyed when we turned up at 9 for breakfast. We hadn't been told when breakfast was but apparently it was until 9! They did however let us have some.
Review 35:When we came back to the hotel in the evening the bar staff were very helpful trying to find a takeaway that would still be open.
Review 36:Dirty toilet No hot water Inadequate curtains Dirty stairway carpet Smell to the room Wi fi more miss than hit Unhelpful breakfast staff No main light or heating.
Review 37:The location was central to all amenities
Review 38:Where to start? We were in room one right above the main door and main road. The glass in the window had a huge cracking in it so smoke and noise drifted in constantly. The bed feels like a reluctant from the dark ages and the bathroom left a lot to be desired. The sink was cracked, the flush was temperamental and the shower leaked so badly it had no pressure left. We didn't even attempt breakfast on our second morning after the first days offering was full of hairs. Not only was the breakfast unappealing it was served by a girl we soon realised had been attempting to enter the property at 2am by banging on the door for twenty minutes whilst screaming at the tip of her voice - this didn't make for a restful night of sleep!
Review 39:Close to the city centre which is a blessing as you won't want to spend more time here than is necessary!
Review 40:Staff couldn't care less apart from waitress. Toilet has not seen bleach...ever... Toilet was leaking All the doors creaked Place stank..dirty carpets too Shower was either boiling hot or cold Wi-Fi quality was rubbish...keep crashing and signal was weak. Breakfast was at 8am...too late for a business traveler
Review 41:Nothing...
Review 42:Cold water in both hand basin and shower, and although room reasonably clean the carpet on stairs leading to the rooms were unpleasant. Breakfast almost inedible, very noisy location.
Review 43:Room was big but could have been cleaner. Bedding and towels very clean. The bed was terrible with sagging mattress. The bathroom was clean but the bath panel had been put on with big nails which stuck out and were dangerous there was also a big hole in the bathroom ceiling.we only stayed one night in the morning we had breakfast then went to check out and pay there was no one around except the girl that was doing breakfast we were told just to leave the key and the money will be taken automatically. There was no one to discuss our concerns. we would not stay there again.
Review 44:Location was good and car park was £6 for 24hrs which was also good.breakfast was also ok.
Review 45:Decor/bathroom in need of updating. Carpets seen better days. Cleaner doubles up as breakfast waitress?
Review 46:Bed linen clean and fresh. Staff friendly
Review 47:No staff on reception on arrival had to phone to get a room key, dirty stair carpet, walls to room, Room was smelly musty, Bed was unstable rocked forward and sideways very uncomfortable, when returning at 03:00 unable to get back in had to telephone again for entry. On leaving no staff available to hand key back. Trying to use the wi-fi but only produced 0.95 download speed on broadband speed checker.
Review 48:Breakfast
Review 49:The guest area is very tired and pretty poor really. My single room had curtains that didn't fit the window and was very tired and dull. I'm afraid to say the toilet was not cleaned before I arrived as there was stuff in it!! I never got hot water from the tap I do not think breakfast times of 10-11am on a Sunday is acceptable. Most people would want to be travelling by then. I can only assume this is to fit with lunchtime catering staff
Review 50:Location,the bar area, and the staff were friendly
Review 51:Traffic noise all the time, bathroom light didn't work, bathroom door hard to close, skirting boards in dining room dirty . The hotel needs to be updated and redecorate
Review 52:Staff members very good and a great breakfast and close to town
Review 53:From the outside the paint was peeling and window frames looked rotten. It's in the middle of a roundabout! No double glazing. The smell hit you as soon as you walked in the door of stale tobacco. Carpets in hall & Stairs dirty and smelly.
Review 54:absolutely nothing. Awful place we paid our money but did not stay.
Review 55:The place was unclean, smelly and I felt I was totally unable to relax. I asked to move room as my initial room was awful - I was shown two further rooms which where awful before I was given a room that was just acceptable!
Review 56:Had single room with broken toilet(wouldn't flush); light pull to toilet was jet black. Begrudgingly moved to another room only when I threatened to leave. Second room had broken window, bath panel kicked in, head board broken and banged against the radiator. Wallpaper stained. Tiny insects in bathroom. Full English breakfast had no mushrooms hash browns, or bacon. It consisted of one egg, three sausages, and half a tomato and one slice of toast.
Review 57:Checking out and leaving.
Review 58:Dirty. Noisy. Tired. Poor slow surly service at breakfast. Lack of choice in breakfast - full English or nothing. Just horrible.
Review 59:Location. Leaving in the morning.
Review 60:Heavy traffic right outside and no double glazing. Street lights and early morning sun come straight through very thin curtains. No hot water for all three days except in electrically heated shower. TV worked only after we complained. Noisy customers outside bar till very late - on the Sunday night the bar appeared to have customers until 0145 Monday morning so could be illegal. Carpet in room in a dreadful state. Washbasin cracked. Five large bird feathers in the breakfast room were walked on by staff who just left them there - unbelievable! Staff had trouble fulfilling breakfast order. Only cups of tea, not pots.
Review 61:Friendly staff Arranged half hour early breakfast for us on a Sunday. Handy for riverside walks.
Review 62:Needs some updating, décor a bit dated.
Review 63:Staff were very friendly. The location was good and the value for money was excellent. Lovely cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
Review 64:no lounge area for guests, pillows were so flat had to roll up towels, mattresses gave us really bad backs. bad smell of damp in bedroom. We stayed 2 days beds were not made or towels changed.
Review 65:the breakfast was freshly made
Review 66:Great location to be, just a short walk from the city center and right next to the river. A great Full English breakfast was included, along with friendly staff. If you have time you can also enjoy a pint and watch any sporting action taking place that evening in the friendly bar.
Review 67:Overall the standards were poor. Just a few observations:- No hot water in basin; pillows so thin they had to be folded; dirty sticky bedroom carpet; power point front hanging loose.
Review 68:The staff were helpful and cheerful
Review 69:Decor decidedly tired, and somewhat grubby. A badly cracked basin. Leaking shower door, causing flooding in the bathroom which has, from the state of the carpet in the bedroom, been going on for years. No hot water in basin, and the shower periodically went ice-cold.
Review 70:Extremely helpful and pleasant staff, who produced breakfast half-an-hour early for us on Sunday. An above-average sized single room, with plenty of hanging and drawer space.
Review 71:Needs a bit of tarting up and modernising. New windows for the room would really be helpful with keeping the noise out.
Review 72:Location just by the river and a short stroll to the city centre. Great views.
Review 73:Room / ensuite was in need of some redecoration. Hotel has no car parking, there is a carpark next door which costs £6 for 24 hours, but this is full during the day, so not always possible to park when you arrive.
Review 74:Good breakfast which they agreed to serve early. Good location and easy to find.
Review 75:The look the hotel was better than than the look .
Review 76:.location and only £6 for overnight parking the room was on the main road but the traffic noise was not a problem and that was with the windows open, spacious and comfortable
Review 77:broken shower, the hotel generally run-down, very close to a busy street, noise because of cars and bar below the hotel
Review 78:service, breakfast, close to the city center, a place good for one night, no more
Review 79:ive took photos of appalling conditions ive told everyone we know as we are in Worcester twice a year with our huge karate tournament and I wouldn't want anyone else to stay there as we never will again
Review 80:wed liked the fact it was close to venue and the gentleman who checked us in was friendly
Review 81:Some staff ignored us as we were lads in dresses and no group discount as I booked and paid for 4 double rooms plus 3 single rooms were paid for by others!!!
Review 82:I like it was next to the river and so close to the centre and we will stay again, would recommend to others!!!
Review 83:We were staying at the hotel as we were going to our Graduation Ball that evening. On our arrival, the manager explained that he would book us a taxi for 18.45. Unfortunately, he forgot to do this and we were then late for our ball. He assured us that a taxi would be there within ten minutes, but the taxi was late and it turned up 20 minutes later. We were extremely unimpressed. In the room itself, two light bulbs did not work, the electrical points were loose at the walls and the bath had a large crack in it. Considering this was a family room, it wasn't exactly safe for children.
Review 84:The location was good and we were happy that they allowed the four of us to stay in the family room.
Review 85:the room was dated with holes in the bath and furniture had rings on them it definitely needed updating. didn't get to have or wasn't offered breakfast as had a well needed lie in
Review 86:size of room
Review 87:Room 11 is on a slant, single bed leans towards door and floor near bathroom has dip. Breakfast was fine, served by smoking Polish who dont understand 'Brown Bread' ! Polish girls smoking in open front doorway blowing smoke into area whilst breakfast is being eaten - Take some action please.
Review 88:Location and reception were fine but that's where it stops.
Review 89:Bathroom, toilet was stained inside, cistern was cracked along the top. black mould all along the bottom seam of shower. broken plug socket. and a cracked top window pane.
Review 90:close to the venue we were attending and walking distant to shops.
Review 91:Although the general building wasn't too clean the bedding was clean, room warm, great view. Shower / bathroom a little in need of tendy care
Review 92:The staff were friendly and helpful and overall good experience
Review 93:Windows wouldn't open. ( seemed to be screwed together ) Another resident banging the door down because he lost his key. He climbed the fire escape and was knocking on my window to let him in ( good job it was broke ) breakfast was barely warm.
Review 94:Comfort of bed. Shower ok.
Review 95:Having to pay for parking
Review 96:staff really friendly easy walk into town plenty of places to eat great breakfast the coffee to die for would definitely recommend to my friends
Review 97:the bed was very uncomfortable. There were no bedside lamps .On the 2nd morning there were no cereals and none could be provided when asked for.
Review 98:Not a lot
Review 99:Damp smell in the hotel, Diner late opening for breakfast, Breakfast very poor bacon looked like it had been cooked on a coal fire covered in bits of black would not recommend to anyone.
Review 100:location of hotel and shopping center
Review 101:The 3 am wake up call from a drunk guest that had lost/ forgotten their keys and the extremely poor breakfast served in a smoke filled room.
Review 102:The hotel is very tired needs lots of TLC The bed was very noisy and kept rolling to one side The window frames were very rotten and difficult to keep open I needed them open because theroom was very hot!
Review 103:Very prompt greeting and booking in on arrival
Review 104:Terrible noisy room, immediately above bar with loud music and louder people until after midnight. Poor sound insulation to windows which allowed road noise to compete with noise from bar. Very difficult to relax or sleep.
Review 105:Position of hotel. Warm shower.
Review 106:The cleanliness. The age of everything - no shaving light ; broken bath panel ; dirty loo ; dirty windows ; apparently no central heating (for winter stays) ; breakfast presentation.... and so on
Review 107:The location
Review 108:The room was dirty, dusty,no lampshade on the bedside lamp.Very noisy ,coming up from the rooms below, part of the pub.
Review 109:The staff were very friendly, the breakfast good
Review 110:The electronic air freshening smell, the tired furnishings, the cracked windows. The noise from hotel patrons was quite loud until late. The parking is close but not free or part of the hotel.
Review 111:It was rathe like the Exotic Marigold Hotel, where the enthusiasm df the manager far exceeded the quality of the establishment.
Review 112:Although the room was clean enough the windows were dirty and one was cracked. The toilet was not clean, shower head was blocked and the bath panel had holes in it. In general the whole place was run down and tired looking.
Review 113:The location of the hotel, near to racecourse and town centre within walking distance
Review 114:Shower was not working in room.

Review 118:Advertised and booked for £30 had to pay £39. Bed was poor quality with very soft mattress. Decor was tired Wifi was impossible to get on. Went for breakfast (paid for) at 7.55 and the area was still shuttered up from previous evening! With no smell of food and no sign of staff. Left without eating.
Review 119:Location on the river. Staff were friendly.
Review 120:Moving 3 times in the first hour of getting there...TV did not work in rooms, no bedside light, pane of glass missing. Final night of three back to what should have been my original room...light over mirror in ensuite not working, shower hardly any power, had to wedge window open. Breakfast the first day was totally unacceptable - no-one appeared until 8.10am, no explanation where food was/little choice (Eg.cornflakes or frosties), cooked breakfast just appeared -I was not asked what I wanted even! Wetherspoons the nest 2 days was heaven.
Review 121:Leaving.
Review 122:appalling breakfast small portion and clay cold. Shower was terrible freezing cold or far too hot with no in between. WiFi simply didn't work.
Review 123:Excellent location with lovely views
Review 124:Smell of damp broken window very tired looking just needs a bit of tlc in a great location shame to loose customers
Review 125:The breakfast very nice staff friendly
Review 126:As above. I've seen better furniture in a charity shop!!
Review 127:Not a lot, room depressing and in need of a lot of TLC. Breakfast poor quality. Paid for two nights and only stayed one. Couldn't wait to leave.
Review 128:Condition of Electrics - Extreamly Noisy Fan (bearings) in Bathroom so couldn't switch on bathroom light, wall socket not working hence no bedside light, bloodstains seen on matresses. Noise from Bar until 11.30
Review 129:Staff very Friendly
Review 130:Room small and cramped, smell from drains in shower room, very noisy up till 12.30am, not very clean, not to much bedding bed not very comfortable, bedroom windows did not even open.

Review 135:Very friendly welcome and a clean room
Review 136:Attention needed to peeling paintwork in bathroom. Noise issue. Woken up at 4am for half hour by a TV from room upstairs while someone got ready to leave the hotel.
Review 137:Friendly Staff Warm room with lovely fresh sheets and towels Good breakfast served by a very friendly waitress
Review 138:Its close to the road so if your a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs and have a few beers.
Review 139:Great breakfast, nice pub, low cost and no fuss. Easy parking for £1 over night in the multi storey.
Review 140:some of the residants stay up late and talked loudly banged doors and got locked out at night and shouted for people to let them in
Review 141:friendly staff especially as we had young child clean rooms and nice food
