Reviews for Diglis House Hotel
Review 1:Lack of wifi coverage in bedroom and problems with plumbing (no hot water). In their restaurant I had a dish with fish filets that were excessively coated in bread crumbs. I fail to understand why bread crumbs are used in such amounts; all the juices and flavours are absorbed and lost in the crumbs!
Review 2:One of the nicest hotels that we have stayed at: modest sized, warm and comfortable. Staff mostly very helpful and friendly, with just one exception. Food in the restaurant excellent with the exception noted. Would certainly stay there again, even making a detour.
Review 3:The bed was too short and needed replacing.
Review 4:We really liked the location, the wonderful dining room and the staff. The bedroom decor and bathroom was first class. The view from the bedroom was amazing.
Review 5:Had to request to be served at breakfast :( also people had to keep asking for bread and orange juice to be filled up, staff were not checking it.
Review 6:Location, conservatory, feel of hotel
Review 7:My son had been given a bottle of champagne to toast his day but we were told we were not allowed to drink it in our suite , we payed a lot for an overnight stay and thought this was a rule that should have been relaxed on this occasion
Review 8:The welcome and cosy feel , brilliant location for graduation
Review 9:The food service. We stayed for 3 days and each time we were in the conservatory for food there was one male waiter who had olive skin and dark hair who was very rude. Other staff were lovely however there were never staff in the eating area unless putting food out so felt we were having to walk through the hotel to the bat to try and find a staff to ask for things or to take plates
Review 10:The grounds the hotel is on is beautiful and out particular room was very small but it was so cosy and comforting it made it lovely!
Review 11:There was a problem with the boiler so there was no hot water in the washbasin one day. However the shower was electric so that was hot.
Review 12:Absolutely charming and very helpful staff. Quiet situation but easy to get to everywhere in central Worcester on foot. Good food, great service. Nice warm room with comfortable bed. Lovely view of the river.
Review 13:We were given room 31 which was at the back overlooking a car park. It was very small with no wardrobe. Hanging space was located in the bathroom behind a curtain. Thankfully we were upgraded for our second night. Definitely do not check into room 31.
Review 14:Lovely river views and very near to shops and cathedral. Staff were lovely. Competitive bar prices and a good selection of food on offer.
Review 15:Our room was small - we were spoilt last time in a bigger room as we paid more for the room. A spa would have been nice but I assume no room for one.
Review 16:Lovely setting by the river. You could buy sparkling wine by the glass, rather than having to buy a whole bottle (I.e. In a small bottle). Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Review 17:had to park on a local council car park on my second night as the car park was full. There was a private party being held at the hotel.I was however told when I booked out that if I had gone to reception at the time they would have got a car moved to enable me to park.
Review 18:Friendly helpful staff and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 19:The waiter placing the bottle of wine I'd ordered, unopened on the table with a glass and leaving me to not only open the screw-top but pour the wine myself. Very unprofessional! I did address this with him at the end of dinner. Continental breakfast would have been improved by the addition of some freshly cut fruit salad, shaved coconut, and perhaps dried cranberries instead of currants, and some natural yoghurt. Sausages were very unpleasant.
Review 20:Central location, courteous and welcoming reception staff, Charlie who assisted me with my luggage and Kate at breakfast who was very engaging. The serenity of watching the swans and ducks on the river from my room. Suite was well appointed and bathroom modern. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Review 21:no bad experiences.
Review 22:Brilliant location by the river. Able to walk to all the interesting places in Worcester. Hotel is also very close to the Worcester Porcelain works and Museum.
Review 23:Nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Review 24:The staff could not have done more, room was comfortable and clean, the view over the river and the seating area for guests only overlooking the river.
Review 25:Breakfast not very exciting. Bread very ordinary and basic. Toaster needs replacing, the notice says turn dial to 2 but this invariably ended up with burnt toast. The lovely helpful waitresses said it happened a lot . This was after I had wasted two lots of bread, presumably that is why they do not give you decent bread. Pastries were minimal and left out uncovered for all guests to breathe and cough over.Worst of all were the small dead flies and cobwebs on the windowsill by our table. Great view though.
Review 26:Location ideal, short walk beside river into market on a Sunday. Bed very comfy and a good size. Staff very friendly and helpful. Umbrella in the room was very useful, considering our rainy weather.very nice comfortable large chairs in the Bay Window.
Review 27:Breakfast staff were ill trained , had little idea re little bits of service that to me makes the difference as we stay in hotels all over the world. The young lad had no idea and tables were left untidyied for 20 minutes - very poor
Review 28:We are local so like the hotel and the location
Review 29:Parking is difficult however it can`t be helped as due to the hotels location.
Review 30:Lovely location we stayed there to go to the races. Really nice garden area and staff were really helpful.
Review 31:Upon arrival we were surprised with a free upgrade. The junior suite was beautiful and views over the river and gardens lovely. Staff were attentive and helpful. We dined in the hotel on the first evening and food was delicious. We enjoyed our stay here immensely.
Review 32:there was absolutely nothing to complain about or dislike.
Review 33:we loved the fact our room was on the ground floor and away from the rest of the hotel in an annex with patio doors leading out to a seating area and overlooking the river, just perfect.
Review 34:Even though one morning there were only six guests in the restaurant for breakfast and two of them had already been served the wait for the cooked breakfast was very long. There was also a very limited choice on the buffet breakfast table . It may be an idea to improve this choice and hope that more guests would be happy to just have that instead of the cooked breakfast to ease the problems there must be in the kitchen when it comes to preparing these breakfasts.
Review 35:The location was great with lovely views of the river and easy access to the city centre. We got a nice warm welcome at reception when we arrived. Our room was excellent with windows on two sides to enjoy the great views.
Review 36:We had two bar meals which were very nice but I thought the menu in the restaurant and bar were both rather limited.
Review 37:Although initially had a problem getting to the hotel (missed the turn) its location next to the river with outdoor terraces was very nice. It is in a quiet part of the town but a very short walk from the cathedral and centre of town.
Review 38:Fantastic hotel in a great location with plenty of parking. The outside area was lovely to have a seat and drink in. The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable.
Review 39:Initial greeting wasn't particularly welcoming as I'd arrived early so receptionist was fretting over whether my room was ready or not. Resolved by a phone call & all fine after this. Room was extremely hot however we were having unusually warm weather.
Review 40:Wonderful location on the river & beautiful property. Breakfast was delicious & morning staff were very attentive as was the night porter.
Review 41:Breakfast could have been a little bigger
Review 42:Everyone scores this place high on location and rightly so. However, for me, the staff were exceptional. Friendly and polite and even though it was busy the service didn't suffer. All of it carried out with a smile. The room was fantastic with great views of the river and the bed was extremely comfortable. First time we've stayed there but definitely won't be the last!
Review 43:Dusty room, bedside lamp would not work. Toilet roll holder broken, remote control held together with sticky tape. We ordered a room service breakfast which was a very small portion and it came without toast or preserves, coffee was given without fresh milk or fresh cups.
Review 44:The room and bathroom spacious. View from the windows onto the river.
Review 45:booked 3 months early room was away from hotel up 3 flights of stairs no lift no air conditioning. Small room small window heat rises bathroom like sauna too hot to sleep comfortably
Review 46:The position of hotel next to river and city centre.
Review 47:Food was surprisingly good but it was pre- arranged set menu for conference participants so I don't know if it is same as in the hotels regular kitchen .
Review 48:The staff service was good overall but let down at breakfast, we had to ask for tables to be cleared, then for cutlery, plates, coffee etc etc. Staff were not working as a team and need supervision.
Review 49:Location right next to river and cathedral, easy walk into city along river. Hotel very clean and tidy with reasonable bar prices. Breakfast food was good
Review 50:Great location, with a riverside terrace and easy access along the riverside path to the city centre. Large room with sofa and chair; bathroom had a great shower and a bath.
Review 51:The room was overheated when I arrived. There was some intermittent humming noise at night from something outside the window and a noisy delivery lorry during my first night.
Review 52:Pleasant location by the river and convenient for walking to town. Friendly staff, good food. Comfortable room apart from a bit of noise disturbance.
Review 53:We were not allocated the standard of room we booked. We were allocated a Standard Twin Room whereas we booked a Superior Twin Room. However, we were given financial compensation.
Review 54:The location and the extensive facilities to eat and drink outside beside the River Severn
Review 55:Unhappy with the room but the matter was dealt with without rancour and to our satisfaction by the management.
Review 56:Did enjoy the location on the river. All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Food in the restaurant was very good and impressed with the fact that individual adjustments to the menu were encouraged.
Review 57:No bad experience my only wish was for a comfortable chair in the room to sit on in the evening. Not always do you want to sit in the public arrears. The single room size equipped for 2 night stay max. not a 5 nighter.
Review 58:Most comfortable all round experience staff appeared to be well trained smart appearance and cheerful. The clean appearance of the Diglis reflected well on the Management and staff, Thank You.
Review 59:The noise of people leaving the party, but dispersed quickly.
Review 60:The hotel is ideally situated with a 10 minute walk to centre, cathedral and good restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was good and you beautiful views along the river.
Review 61:We had a lovely stay. The staff were fantastic, food delicious and we were given a free upgrade to a suite when they saw we were travelling with a baby - we didn't even ask for it!
Review 62:The furniture/curtains in our room badly need cleaning & updating. No dressing table in the room. We booked a superior room. We were told it was a suite. We feel it was just a large room with a bathroom .
Review 63:The location close to the river Severn
Review 64:The location is perfect and the view is idyllic. It faces the River Severn, and as the morning mist lifted, I was able to watch the swans float by.The hotel is in the historic are of town; exactly a block away from the Museum of Royal Worcester. .
Review 65:Small tinny television No fridge or dressing gowns Expected a little more in our junior suite, which was a lovely room but could have a few more extras
Review 66:Great location, easy walk into town Friendly staff Good food Clean and comfortable
Review 67:Rushed off in the morning. Had to pay supplement for the dog to stay.
Review 68:Nice room and views, pleasant walk along the river, made us smile when we asked for a bottle of wine at the bar, it arrived on the bar, "can I get you anything else". 3 glasses ? they arrived "anything else" a bottle opener please !
Review 69:Having to walk from our accommodation to the main building as it was very cold weather. The length of breakfast serving time. The best place to stay in Worc
Review 70:The situation of the hotel was spot on. We could see the river from the room. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast were enjoyable, but the evening meal was excellent and very good value for money
Review 71:Coal effect gas fire in small sitting room disappointing, would preferred real coal fire.
Review 72:Good central location and nice outlook. Excellent, efficient and polite staff, nothing too much trouble. On approach, first impressions do not do justice as to what lies behind the doors.
Review 73:Room was very very hot so could do with adjusting this.
Review 74:Location was great for a night out and then a long walk the following morning. Hotel is right on the river so would be even better in summer. Room was very clean and well presented. Staff were all very happy and welcoming.
Review 75:No hot water, tried to run a bath and even if there was hot water it wouldn't have stayed in the bath as the plug was ill fitting! Hot water to all other rooms except ours and unable to move as hotel fully booked!
Review 76:Lovely location overlooking the river
Review 77:Staff remembered me which made me feel very welcome. I asked for a quiet room and got a quiet room. Plenty of tea bags and coffee. Helpful friendly staff
Review 78:Nothing !
Review 79:Came to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, upon arrival we were upgraded to a honeymoon suite which was just incredible. All staff I had interactions with at the reception in the bar and over breakfast were extremely helpful and welcoming. Having breakfast overlooking the views of the River was a wonderful end of the stay.
Review 80:Small piece of paper given out with key that had all essential info on it - eg time of breakfast, checkout time and wifi password. Simple, but many hotels leave you having to scramble to find out these essentials. Also, superb position on the Severn.
Review 81:bedroom too hot & as we were on the ground floor we couldn't leave the french windows open.
Review 82:location was superb & the parking was free which made a pleasant change, also breakfast was excellent.
Review 83:The manager and receptionist were not at all friendly or srervice orientated. Small room, decorators in hallway with trip hazard dust sheets and no warning signs. Manager reluctantly agreed to a discount, but it did not come easily or with good grace. Not value for money and will never stay there again. Small bed and no room to manoeuvre. Just not worth the money. Very disappointed as I was returning to my old school and have fond memories of the Diglis, not anymore....
Review 84:the Polish waitress, brought me breakfast after the designated finish time and was delightful.
Review 85:Nothing
Review 86:My free upgrade to a room overlooking the river. Reception and breakfast staff extremely polite and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional and freshly cooked.
Review 87:Can't think of anything
Review 88:Our room/upgraded to suite was beautiful and very comfortable, every need thought of. The staff were charming, efficient and not obtrusive. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and beautifully served. The setting was perfect for views of the river and an easy walk into town. Even the weather was very good for the end of November.
Review 89:Nothing.
Review 90:Stayed here for my son's graduation. Have stayed many times in Worcester and this was the nicest hotel I have stayed in. Very friendly staff, clean, warm and comfortable. Fantastic view of the river from the dining room.
Review 91:We stayed at this hotel for my Graduation everything about the hotel was excellent, the staff were very friendly and professional, the setting of the hotel right on the river bank and within walking distance of the city centre was perfect we will definately stay here again
Review 92:I liked the fact that it was an attractive Georgian house so close to the river. It was good to stay somewhere that wasn't overly modern and minimalist. Some of the staff were particularly helpful.
Review 93:All staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good and served in a dining room with an excellent view of rowers on the Severn. Reception staff were extrememely considerate and helpful. Unexpected and very welcome bonus was the beautiful black cat that wandered into my room from the riverside garden. This made me feel doubly lucky in finding this excellent hotel.
Review 94:The traffic system in Worcester meant we had problems finding the hotel but with the help of a taxi driver we found it.
Review 95:We are pensioners who like to travel and discover new places..This was our first visit to Worcester and we were pleasantly surprised at the convenience of the Diglis to the cathedral, the Worcester china museum and to the town itself. The alms houses and buildings are very interesting and worth a visit. We shall certainly be back.
Review 96:not much, tbh.
Review 97:Riverside setting, nice outside areas, quiet spot but near historic part of town. Lovely early morning run along the river. Lots of birdlife to be seen. Good dinner here!
Review 98:The shower was a learning experience....
Review 99:Almost everything about the hotel was excellent. Staff were all helpful; though we missed breakfast, they made one for us; location and so on!
Review 100:The hotel is located in the centre of town close to the cathedral and was one of the few places that had free car parking. Our room overlooked the river, so we woke up on Saturday morning to the sight of lots of young people from the rowing club next door out on the river. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was good, although some of the items on the menu required a supplementary payment.
Review 101:The bacon was a bit too well done The breakfast staff need a bit more training, they brought food to the table but failed to remove the dirty crockery
Review 102:Upgrade to huge and lovely bridal suite Extremely comfortable bed Pleasant & helpful staff in general River side location with easy access to a nice river walk Nice grounds and gardens Spacious conservatory for eating breakfast in
Review 103:Menu a bit disappointing, pigeon breast starter sounded good but very tough.
Review 104:On river side within minutes of Cathedral & China museum. Helpful staff.
Review 105:It was quite expensive.
Review 106:Loved the location on the river Severn in Worcester. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was so lovely we stayed another night.
Review 107:TV was poor no mirror in daylight I would recommend taking your own mirror for make up as electric light in bathroom and wardrobe mirror only. breakfast was early for holiday makers but ok for business I suppose.
Review 108:spacious room comfortable bed and pillows polite staff good food lovely setting by the river with good view.
Review 109:Bit tired around the edges-even the new part has scuffs and marks on the walls Dirty windows, particularly in the breakfast/dining room which is a focal point overlooking the river
Review 110:Location Friendly staff-quick room change when we asked Car parking Interesting building and area Only 10 mins walk from everything in Worcester Great location for the cricket
Review 111:It was very bright in the room during the night.
Review 112:It is next to the river and only a very short walk to the town centre (cathedral, shops), we only stayed one night but could leave our car the next morning to go and look at the cathedral.
Review 113:The car park was small and filled with wedding guests. The reception area is small with only one staff able to take care of the guests
Review 114:The location and room was very good
Review 115:On this occasion I did have a couple of minor problems but they were dealt with very quickly and efficiently.
Review 116:The hotel as kept it's character but modernised in a sensible way. This was my fourth stay and each one was as pleasurable as the last a relaxing warm hotel.
Review 117:The general quality of the fixtures, through out the hotel was poor the furniture had really seen better days. I would, having booked a so called superior twin room, expected a larger room, and of an overall higher quality. Not what is expected for the amount paid.
Review 118:The friendly helpful staff, in particular the breakfast waitress she was a gem. The amazing location.
Review 119:One way system in Worcester a but confusing. We were not impressed with the quality of the breakfast. Staff are good and hardworking but could do with some more on a Sunday morning. We had a beautiful room overlooking the river - Room 01.
Review 120:Quiet area right in the River. Easy walking distance to centre of town, to County Cricket Ground and right beside the Cathedral. You can leave your car and walk everywhere.
Review 121:couldn't find fault.
Review 122:excellent accomadation as always.had aroom in the annex, overlooking the garden and river, first class.friendly staff, had a great stay.
Review 123:Location and views are wonderful. Staff extremely helpful and efficient. Lovely room, extremely clean and comfortable. Perfect place to relax in the evenings while away on business. The bar and restaurant food is of great quality and the breakfast is unmissable.
Review 124:Stiflingly hot bathroom, because of heated towel rail, which apparently could not be turned off.
Review 125:Especially the location, with views over the river and easy access to the town centre.
Review 126:The standard double room was small and pokey, with not enough storage. There was no view from the window and the room was very hot and stuffy and noisy. We hardly slept. For £105 per night I expected better.
Review 127:Beautiful views over the river from the terrace. A bath in the bathroom, nice big towels Nice breakfast Comfortable bed
Review 128:It's bit of a squeeze down the lane to the hotel, but good parking once there.
Review 129:Walking distance to the Cathedral and to the Worcester Porcelain Museum, lawn & tables are riverside, canal boats pass, watch for herons and swans, good food, busy hotel but the staff is helpful. Fine choice for a stay in Worcester.
Review 130:Room 8 was extremely hot when I arrived. It was a hot, sunny day, but the windows were closed with the curtains fully open. Corridor leading to Rooms 8-11 is very stuffy and needs ventilation. Water pressure in the shower was a bit fierce and it was difficult not to wet the floor. The toaster in the restaurant at breakfast is hopeless and needs replacing. The window on the stairs is disgusting.
Review 131:Lovely view. Relatively quiet. Good food with interesting menus. Friendly, helpful staff. Good servicing of room. Handy for access to the Cathedral as I was participating in the Worcester Three Choirs Festival.
Review 132:Converted Georgian town house atmosphere and furnishings. Very spaciousbedroom. Hotel position right next to the river Severn and easy walkinto town centre. Very pleasant staff.
Review 133:Parking can be a bit tight if you arrive late on but it was ok for me on this occasion.
Review 134:The breakfast was great, the staff were lovely and had a great night's sleep.
Review 135:Plug did not work properly in the bath.
Review 136:Nice location by the river, walking distance to cathedral and town centre. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were given a free upgrade on our room.
