Reviews for Kames Hotel
Review 1:Got locked out on the Friday night after being told door would be left open. Wasn't keen on loft room due to angle of ceiling.
Review 2:Lovely hotel and staff food was first class.
Review 3:My wife's fish was undercooked and the staff tried to help but she'd lost her appetitie.
Review 4:Staff, location, facilities and the very sociable bar.
Review 5:It was a little confusing to know where we were to take our meals. The dining room was closed 2 of the 3 nights so we ate in the pub or small room next to the pub. We booked a dormer room and we normally don't mind this type of room but this was extremely cramped. I am 5'6" and there was only a small strip of the room where I could stand up. I would not recommend this room for a tall person.
Review 6:The owner/bartender/chef had a great sense of humor. The view from our room was beautiful.
Review 7:The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The Location was superb. Hope to go back and next time with our dogs as it is a very dog friendly hotel.
Review 8:The location and the Victorian charm of the hotel, and especially the friendly staff. They prepared a lunch bag when I had to leave too early for breakfast because I had to catch an early bus.
Review 9:Nothing to do in Tighnabruaich but nice views on the lock and not too far to drive round to ferry to Bute. Could do with one extra person in the morning for breakfast service.
Review 10:We booked three rooms as were traveling as two families - one of the standard rooms was upgraded to superior which was a nice surprise. Worth paying the extra in retrospect to have the upstairs bedroom with seaview as very charming.
Review 11:Nothing.
Review 12:Everything! The location is perfect, the rooms are very comfortable and the owners, staff and local people are all lovely, friendly and very hospitable. FABULOUS!!!
Review 13:Could not connect to wi fi as signal really poor although it did state this in the hotel information. The food was excellent although as there is little choice of places to eat it would have been nice to have seen the special menu more varied over the course of the week.
Review 14:If you need a quiet place to holiday then the location overlooking the kylesof bute is perfect.
Review 15:The area is beautiful and the accommodation was very good value for money. Friendly staff, excellent food and lovely location. What more could you ask for!
Review 16:The shower pressure wasn't the best but not a big enough issue to complain about.
Review 17:The view from our small double room was beautiful. There were excellent facilities with a kettle and tea making facilities, tv, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Perfectly equipped! The owners were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious!
Review 18:Comfort and size of room and size of bathroom Friendliness of staff. They went the extra mile. Dog friendly Food and drink in bar View from hotel and access to walks
Review 19:A destination in itself. A great hotel with dito bar and food. The place is beautifull, as is the town and the drive there. All in all a great, sadly short, stay. Almost forgot the staff, very friendly and helpfull. Spot on.
Review 20:liked everything
Review 21:the guys couldn't have been more accommodating, friendly and helpful. We loved our stay. Wifi is a little patchy which is to be expected from the location, but what does it matter when you're in these gorgeous surroundings? Be prepared & print information before you travel.
Review 22:My mum, daughter and I had a lovely stay in February 2015. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Review 23:Wet paint, very cold bedroom. Lack of welcome, offhand and somewhat disinterested attitude of owner.
Review 24:Wonderful views of the bay. Tasteful redecoration of bar areas. Reasonable value for money. Pleasant bar staff - unprententious hotel
Review 25:Wifi was weak and spotty, and only available in the common areas. Don't let that stop you.
Review 26:Beautiful location in a small town. Exactly what we were looking for. Pet friendly, and the staff was very accommodating after a mistake with the initial reservation. Amazing food.
Review 27:Nothing, can't fault it.
Review 28:Super helpful staff, very flexible and welcoming to our little puppy. Food was lovely and the staff really tried to accommodate my niece and her requirements. Made broccoli and Stilton soup without the Stilton, especially for her.
Review 29:Only slight issue is lack of designated parking but Kames is very quiet and parking on the road didn't cause an issue.
Review 30:Very clean, good sized room with superbly comfortable bed and spotless en-suite. Excellent food, both in the evening and in the morning although the breakfast could have done with some beans to offer moisture. Very happy to both recommend and stay there again.
Review 31:nothing
Review 32:food -- I have food allergies and they did everything they could to help me. I ate really well all weekend and I'm fine. They catered for my needs really well. Thank you
Review 33:The only downside of our stay is that the bedroom area of Room 7 has very limited headroom and little natural light. That said, there were no such headroom restrictions in the bathroom.
Review 34:Staff - attentive and professional. Food - delicious and plentiful. Views - stunning. Sleep - restful. Will most definitely book again, perhaps not Room 7 though! :-)
Review 35:Apart from small towels nothing.
Review 36:The setting. Staff were helpful and friendly. Even though bar was very busy found a table for us to have a meal.really nice place to stay.
Review 37:We had a small double and the ceiling sloped very low over one side of the bed. It was not a problem to us but some may not like it. The lighting on the stairs could have been a bit brighter at night.

Review 41:Very nice and clean hotel with sea view. Very gentle and helpful staff. Good breakfast in a very nice and cosy room. We also had dinner in the pub which was very good.
Review 42:No lounge area, the area you could use as a lounge was part of the bar and smelt of alcohol all the time. They just needed to open the windows.
Review 43:Fantastic staff, really really helpful, couldn't be better. Beautiful area. We ate there both nights and the food was really good.
Review 44:The views, the relaxed, friendly attitude of the staff. we were made to feel very welcome.child friendly, dog friendly. nothing was too much effort for the staff.
Review 45:Bathrooms a little small & in need of an upgrade. We booked a single room for Grandma, it was a bit claustrophobic & she banged her head on the saved roof a lot ( but she had a grey bathroom) but we didn't say it was for an older person, perhaps we should've specified that
Review 46:The view, the age of the hotel. Great quality of food- great ingredients, simple food, cooked really well & served by competent, smily, bubbly staff. Beautiful breakfast room. Love the fact Kames offers a well-priced family room. Great bar, wish we could've used it more! Icing on the cake was the visit of the Boys Brigade playing traditional Scottish music in the evening.
Review 47:Wifi was spasmodic in the rooms but fine in the lounge and bar areas
Review 48:This is the best hotel in the region particularly if you are visiting Dunans Castle
Review 49:Bedroom on the small side. Double bed not queen or king size Like many UK showers, difficult to get in and out of the tiny stall - and the hot and cold water do not mix properly.
Review 50:Enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff even sang happy birthday to me and stuck a lighted candle in my cheese plate. Bedroom had sublime view of Kyles of Bute.
