Reviews for Polraen Country House Hotel

Review 1:Gill and Martin were wonderful hosts and a mine of information on all things local. We could flag down the train on the Looe to Liskeard line just up the road and the bus stopped outside the door. Breakfasts were delicious.

Review 2:Jill and Martin we're very accomodatimg. We arrived late and they arranged us a dinner in a very nice pub nearby. Breakfast was very nice and although we woke up very late after a wedding they served us a hearty breakfast.

Review 3:We had a great stay. Only two nights but would happily have stayed longer. Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, great breakfast and handy for Looe with the branch line station being so close. Everyone needs to flag down a train, at least once in your life!

Review 4:Very clean and comfortable accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Gill and Martin were brilliant and friendly hosts, supplying us with lots of local information and advice. Breakfast was top-notch, especially Martin's spicy mushrooms!

Review 5:The size of the shower was very small, and no water pressure, but I guess for one night in ok.

Review 6:Very nice room, comfortable bed and pillows, very clean and in a perfect location

Review 7:'I like it here...the people who work here are really nice!' Livvy aged 9. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Great food. Really comfortable beds!

Review 8:booked with the understanding its 0.5 away from looe....its not its 2.00 miles along unwalkable roads had to drive or take train and that finishes early. hotel bar was not open for much of the time.

Review 9:b/fast was excellent. hosts were v/friendly

Review 10:Not a thing.

Review 11:Absolutely fantastic attentive service by the hotel owners, treated like a King. Spotlessly clean whilst retaining country charm. Superb breakfast, great choice and beautifully cooked.

Review 12:Having to leave after an amazing holiday!

Review 13:An amazing little place, Gill and Martin were so welcoming and made it feel like home. Their local knowledge and recommendations for days out were spot on. The breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day.

Review 14:We loved the location, the history of the local area, the scenic train journey to Looe and Cornish mining. Gill was a great source of information particularly with history and conservation.

Review 15:Not alot of space in the room, far to many cushions and a rather anoying creaky floorboard making it impossible to be quiet late at night. Part of the shower tray outer edging missing, told this was due to repairs, obviously not aware of the screw sticking out also glass in bathroom (also small) had toothpaste residue in it.

Review 16:Location was just where we needed, room was ok, quite clean and comfortable although slightly on the small size not how the pictures portray. Only a few little niggling things.

Review 17:Would of liked a nicer view from bedroom but did book a last minute getaway

Review 18:Friendly staff. Quiet peaceful setting but not to far from looe town. Own bar and restaurant facilities. Will definitely return there soon

Review 19:Gill and Martin made us very welcome at polraen country house. Breakfasts were superb! And served with information about places we were planning to visit..ie parking, best way to get there, fantastic local knowledge. The room was spacious and very clean. Great ensuite. Tea and coffee facilities provided in room along with delicious biscuits. Would highly recommend to family and friends .

Review 20:shower had low pressure and ran hot and cold on a whim!

Review 21:friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, far enough out of town to be peaceful but near enough for beach harbour and shops.

Review 22:Limited evening meal options in area. Stressful driving on narrow roads

Review 23:Comfort and hospitality as above. Personal interest and local knowledge re places etc. Beautiful breakfasts. Geographical convenience. Warmth and genuineness of hosts.

Review 24:Advertisement for dinner at the "Conservatory" turned out to be false. It was the bar within the B&B and the host announced no food was available. For dinner, we then had to drive the 2 miles into Looe with absolutely NO warning that driving in downtown Looe was restricted. After dinner it was late, dark and rainy and we experienced a blowout and scraped fender while driving on a wrong-way street which was pitifully identified on the pavement. No signs posted as we are accustomed to seeing in the U.S. We believe our host needed to be mindful that we were NOT from the UK and provide some much clearer warnings.

Review 25:Our room was quite nice and we have a very good night's sleep.

Review 26:The location, the staff, the hotel. Everything was great. Wish it could have been longer. Gill and Martin were great hosts and the breakfasts were excellent.
