Reviews for Yotel Gatwick Airport
Review 1:Doors heavy and slam shut after opening. Neighbours door slamming all night causing pod to shake every time and noise of slamming doors. Barely slept.
Review 2:Convenient comfortable & well laid out pod type accomodation
Review 3:There was a very mild drain smell which went away once the shower door was closed.
Review 4:Cosy comfy bed, nice staff, great location right in the first main hall of airport, very cheap.
Review 5:It can be a bit noisy, especially because of the fan as there are no windows in the room
Review 6:Excellent position, just outside the arrivals and next to the rail station. Definitely great value for money if you need to spend one night to catch the early morning flight or train.
Review 7:I would prefer if they had a 'pay later' option.
Review 8:It was right inside the airport so you can get on your flight quickly. It was generally uneventful so nothing too much to comment on.
Review 9:The bed in my room had not been made - the duvet had been tucked in but the sheets and mattress cover underneath had just been left on top of the bed. I did not discover this until I was ready to go to sleep and I had to make the bed myself.
Review 10:Location is great and reception staff courteous and helpful
Review 11:Nothing! It was all superb
Review 12:First time I've stayed in a pod. Amazing!! Will definitely stay again. Perfect for what I needed. Bed was comfortable and I actually slept despite my excitement to be travelling early the next morning. Thank you Yotel
Review 13:Only had a flight bag and no place to really store a suitcase, if I had needed would been a little cramped. But so what I just love the concept. Well done Yotel
Review 14:Loved the 'pod ' great little sleeping space staff first class. Location could not be better.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Great location, right inside south terminal of Gatwick Airport, also near the inter-terminal tram. Nice stuff, made me a cup of cappuccino at 4am!
Review 17:They should advertise the fact rooms can be cooled down- on my first night I was far too hot and assume there was no ventilation system (as soon as I mentioned it the next time- the staff were more than happy to help).
Review 18:The staff were incredibly friendly and really made me feel welcome. It is actually very cosy in the rooms and perfect size for a solo traveller.
Review 19:Really needed somewhere to put the luggage, I kept having to move around it. I went out for dinner and had great difficulty getting back into the hotel from the road. My friend booked early and got an excellent 4 star in Crawley for the same price, so I felt my cube was a little expensive.
Review 20:On the Airport complex!. Bed very comfortable and excellent bathroom. It wasn't noisy at all and was very clean.
Review 21:Does what it says on the tin: it's like a comfortable, clean ferry cabin. Great to sleep over between flights or to arrive late and catch an early morning flight. Leave your car nearby and you can walk straight straight from the hotel to the Departure gates.
Review 22:Narrow space, not enough room for luggages.
Review 23:It was great to get to the Gatwick Airport in early morning caz it just takes only 5mins from Yotel to airport check-in desk. Staffs were very kind.
Review 24:Space was very limited, I stayed in a single 'pod' and I couldn't really open my large suitcase. It's great for a one night stay before an early flight or even after a long haul flight but I couldn't stay there for more than 1 night
Review 25:Staff were very freindly, location is fantasic especially if you have an early morning flight
Review 26:Aircon very poor. Being in a very small space it was claustrophobic because the air con was not cold and was very noisy
Review 27:Location..had all you needed for a short overnight stop prior to early flight
Review 28:I had read a number of reviews and wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was just as I expected, very clean and cosy. No noise kept me awake I slept like a log. Hard to believe that I was at an airport. And the staff - helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 29:I think a bath mat would be nice to have, apart from that everything was perfect
Review 30:Everything from the moment I arrived the staff to the room and it's quaintness
Review 31:Area was so tiny that I could not turn around without hitting something or fully open my suitcase. The room had a damp sewer smell from the bathroom drains. Air conditioning on all night, so noisy and cold. No tea/coffee facility in room. Do not stay if you are claustrophobic. Waste of £65 paid for the night. Night receptionist was very polite.
Review 32:Location
Review 33:Lack of ventilation Very musty/sweaty smell Needed fresh air/ odour nutraliser For people with Asthma there was not enough fresh air ...
Review 34:Easy access, nice staff, tv.
Review 35:You realise when it is too late that there is not a complete set of towels for the bathroom, that's very wrong and mean and you can't even ask reception for another one cos there is no telephone in your room. The shower gel smells awful!
Review 36:Comfortable and clean
Review 37:Hard to find a spot to open my suitcase. I wonder if a lower bed would make this more practical.
Review 38:What a great place to stay one night before an early flight. Location could not have been more convenient, the cabin was clean and fresh, and the bed firm but comfortable. The space was tiny, but very well designed. It felt so much like a ship's cabin that I thought I could feel the sea rolling! Friendly welcome, and nice to know that complimentary drinks were available 24/7. Excellent value.
Review 39:Other guests outside my pod laughing and talking loudly (staff could help keep it quiet) Complimentary coffee ; )
Review 40:Perfect Location Welcoming staff Comfortable Beautiful Design of the pod
Review 41:Clean and comfortable. Fantastic location - 2 minutes walk to flight departures! Got a great deal at £45 for one night. Staff friendly and helpful. All I needed!!
Review 42:I had to upgrade my room - as a disabled traveller (which the knew about previously) the hole in the wall bed and the EXTREMELY small space were impossible for me so I was offered a twin room if I left at 5:00 the following morning!!! But as my flight was not until 8:00 that wasn't really feasible as what was a 72 year old disabled woman going to do then. So I had to pay for an upgrade but I don't think I'd stop at Yotel again not good value for money
Review 43:The location
Review 44:Love it! The room is super comfortable with everything you could wish for (Including a nicer shower than most hotels). The staff are lovely and free hot drinks are available 24 hours a day.
Review 45:Fantastic value for money. Very quiet, compact and well presented room. Could not ask for more. Free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and/or water available from reception. Easy to find and found everything in the room to be operational. I would have no hesitation in recommending Yotel to friends and family.
Review 46:None. However the room does get a little stuffy and warm, would be perfect if there was a good ventilation system for air circulation
Review 47:The location is perfect, within the airport easy to get around. Helpful and friendly staff.
Review 48:I'm not sure I would do a pod hotel again. But it was an interesting experience!
Review 49:Location, price cleanliness and staff. Also the bed was comfortable. The room certainly served its purpose.
Review 50:Perfect place to stay before the flight. Hotel is in middle of terminal so couldn't be closer. They also offer cheaper daytime rentals. Its small yet I think it's part of a charm - roughly size of train compartment.
Review 51:The only problem was lack of coffee making facilities. I know it was free at the front desk but that meant getting dressed BEFORE the intake of caffeine!!
Review 52:Very cosy witha vvery clever ayout, although this did mean negotiating steps and door with a heavy suitcase. But overall I was very happy with it.
Review 53:If you travel with a lot of luggage it can be tricky as there isnt a lot of space inside the cabin.
Review 54:It is ideal for an overnight stay prior to an early morning flight. Friendly staff. The room is small but very functional.
Review 55:Excellent facilities, even got sky TV! Staff polite, friendly and helpful. Loved that there's food available and you get complimentary drinks too.
Review 56:Functional and good. Nice staff. Small but everything you will need. Located in South terminal, 5-8 mins total away From North (train 24/7 every 3 mins). Would definitely book again.
Review 57:Can be a little bit noisy when people are walking up and down the hallway.
Review 58:Clean room with what you need for a quick stop over between flights. Very nice and helpful staff.
Review 59:It didn't worry me but the cabins are very small and have no natural light
Review 60:Inside Gatwick South so convenient for an early morning flight. Very near Wetherspoons and an M&S food store.
Review 61:Bit claustrophobic - not for a long stay but one night before a flight is ideal.
Review 62:Location: 2 minutes from departure lounge. Comfortable, secure and clean. Friendly staff.
Review 63:The only downsize is the lack of window to the outside. For some it may be a problem.
Review 64:tCheck in super express - very straight forward. I was positively surprised of how the 'capsule' (how I like to call it) is wisely designed. It fits a lot in a tiny space. It's amazingly practical to be inside the airport alrealdy and not nearby, with no need for transportation!
Review 65:While this place is certainly convenient, the room itself is just too cramped and a tad grimy/worn. It needs refreshing, and a little lower price to justify me staying there again.
Review 66:Staff was outstanding. Multiple people I dealt with all friendly and very accommodating.
Review 67:being a solo female traveller I got very little sleep after being unnerved by somebody being able to open my door with a swipe card.
Review 68:ideal location flights and transfers.
Review 69:Single cabin very small, will book a double in future even if travelling alone..would have appreciated a shower cap in the room as it's impossible to avoid the shower
Review 70:Great position if catching an early flight
Review 71:The cabin, as they call it and there is a reason for it, was very small, but this was on the description. Hot water took ages to come from shower, sink blocked, fan going all night, no fresh air at all as there is no window...terrible!
Review 72:Just the convenient location inside the airport.
Review 73:No bad experience but could not turn a fan noise off.
Review 74:Needed a room for the night after returning from holiday on a late flight. The Yotel cubicle was very comfortable and it was a novel experience.
Review 75:Although I understand the concept - small and practical - I found that there was very little space to be able to open and close my bag (cabin size) hassle free.
Review 76:Location - inside the airport
Review 77:Beds are a little hard, but other than that rooms practical and functional for a single traveller
Review 78:Convienent and very friendly staff. Friendly welcome and everything was explained well. Great team of staff
Review 79:Close the departures area, as I had a very early flight. Also the wifi is great! I had a single cabin. It's small but does the job. I didn't want anything fancy for a few hours at the airport.
Review 80:The cabins are by definition very small and there is not a common room where one can sit and relax if needed
Review 81:It is perfectly located within the airport itself
Review 82:Unfortunately for me there was an alarm which sounded for an hour at 2.30 am. This was a one off technical problem and bad luck for me but I am reassured that there will be some form of compensation.
Review 83:If you have an early morning connecting flight it is perfect.
Review 84:Couldn't turn off aircon or change temp, told by staff "it's under maintenance close the vent" though half the cabins were empty so could have been moved. Vent started leaking air making a high pitched whistle ever half an hour or so through the night which I had to cling on the bed to tighten. Next to no sleep and when I tried to complain I'm the morning I was brushed off.
Review 85:On airport means it was close to work for me
Review 86:Room was very cold and there was no way to change it. The receptionist closed off the air con but it was still cold. Bed wasn't very comfy. Everything smelled of rubber!
Review 87:Obviously very convenient location. Staff were nice. Shower was very good.
Review 88:The bed is very very hard. Felt like I was sleeping on the floor.
Review 89:Great option if you get stuck in gatwick airport. Felt like I was in a spaceship. Everything was compact and modern.
Review 90:The room is small but is great for a one night stop. Could not fault the price and standard. If there are rooms that are larger if needed but for one person it was perfect
Review 91:Staff were brilliant and very helpful.
Review 92:Staying here was an experience, very interesting style and presentation to the accommodations. Location was absolutely ideal as the hotel is inside the terminal, allowing for one to check out of the hotel and check in with the airline with barely five minutes in between.
Review 93:The pods are a little small especially if you have a couple of suitcases in there as well. I am a small person but I would imagine a larger person would struggle.
Review 94:Location, free wifi and drinks, staff very polite.
Review 95:Could have been a bit more thoroughly cleaned. I'd advise care when using the shower - I didn't think and left my bag on the floor and the water seeped out under the glass door and wet my bag. Not the end of the world but worth bearing in mind.
Review 96:Excellent location, quirky and does what it says on the tin. Liked the free wifi and coffee.
Review 97:The capsule where I stayed is not soundproof.
Review 98:The position is excellent! The room is well-designed with a great monsoon shower. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 99:Location perfect inside the airport and despite minimal space it didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Superb value - every airport should have a Yotel.
Review 100:The air conditioning unit in the second room I stayed in was slightly noisy. Also, I was surprised by the notice informing me that the cold water was not for drinking.
Review 101:Great concept for a hotel. Just needed a small, affordable, room for the night, and my Yotel room did the trick. Very comfortable bed, and shower facilities all good.
Review 102:The bathroom floor was dirty and had stray hairs on it. The bed area had a strange smell. Water took about 5 minutes to get warm.
Review 103:The location: in the airport and easily accessible from public transit.
Review 104:Perfect for a nights sleep prior to a flight the next day. Right in the airport, great way to avoid the aggravation of getting to Gatwick from the other side of London for an early flight.
Review 105:The capsules could be better soundproofed
Review 106:It's wonderful to be able to sleep comfortably yet cheaply at the airport when you have an early morning flight the next day
Review 107:The step up to the bed was shiny and slippery!! Needs to be made non slip! Wouldn't want any accidents!!
Review 108:Location is great, comfortable beds. Free wifi
Review 109:Dusty on top of the rail for the luggage which it happened to be right in front of my face and caused me to sneeze a couple of times
Review 110:The staff very helpful and nice
Review 111:Cabin very small but that's what the hotel is about..I wouldn't of wanted to stay more than 1 night.
Review 112:It was very different! Cabins great! Staff very friendly..the location was excellent every thing on hand.. Great!!!
Review 113:I'm quite tall and so the bed is a little short, I tend to book late and so the price is high in comparison to Block, my alternative.
Review 114:Location is great, staff are always friendly.
Review 115:my cabin was smelly, there was too much ventilation noise. I think it is slightly overpriced...but overall a very good product!
Review 116:it's very practical for super early flights. it's well designed, very small but the beds are comfy, it's like being in a cocoon. there is a good sound proof so it's precious not to hear too much the back and forth of late and early travellers.
Review 117:The only improvement would've been an extractor for the shower being so small in the room
Review 118:It was compact but everything I needed was here and it was actually very peaceful . The towels were amazingly soft, the bed was comfy and it was all very snug. I managed to make a video for work while in here and there was even a little pull down desk!
Review 119:It was rather pricey.
Review 120:Clean, quiet and excellent location. I liked the free drinks and was even given an alarm to borrow for my early wake up call. The staff were very accommodating.
Review 121:Thought the cost was quite high. (Silly thing) it was quite difficult to keep the door open when trying to get the luggage out!
Review 122:Compact, everything to hand.
Review 123:The room was tiny and it was a bit challenging opening my luggage with that lack of space.
Review 124:clean room, comfy bed, free wifi and TV. great location, inside Gatwick terminal.
Review 125:The shower leaked a little out onto the floor of the bedroom.
Review 126:Location is fantastic, ideal for a stopover flight. Coffee/tea facilities rock, and the rooms are comfy!
Review 127:Not suitable for anyone who suffers from claustrophobia as there was no outside window.
Review 128:Located inside the South Terminal. Compact room but perfect for an overnight stay and the price.
Review 129:The guy at the desk seemed to be taking a personal call all the time and while he did attend to me immediately that did put me off a bit going back for another hot drink - as you can't make your own.
Review 130:Location which meant I didn't need to get up too early for my flight check-in. The room though small was comfortable and I thought the shower set up was better than The Bloc Hotel which sprays water over the toilet area. Good selection of hot drinks.
Review 131:Didn't dislike anything.
Review 132:Perfect for what I needed: to be near to the airport for my 6am flight, comfy clean safe quiet night. Tbh it was nicer than where I live hahaha. Quite small but it's spot on for purpose.
Review 133:Incredibly convenient, clean, comfortable and surprisingly very quiet! Had a good night sleep and woke up just 30min before boarding my flight. Result!
Review 134:Because the rooms are very small, a separate designated luggage storage room would be a great asset.
Review 135:Location,one floor below arrivals hall at south terminal, quiet,
Review 136:Some odd mechanical noises during the night in the room, not sure what they were but did wake me! No alarm clocks available but staff member did offer to knock on my door.
Review 137:Comfy bed and pillow.
