Reviews for Shellseekers Guest House

Review 1:Lovely service, beautiful views and a great room. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast was great, and very relaxed and informal atmosphere, just what we wanted.

Review 2:Wash basin was far too small and could have been larger as there was room enough in the bathroom

Review 3:Host was friendly and chatty. room nice and warm in the evening and when returning from night out. Nice view of the Harbour

Review 4:Nothing everything for us was just perfect

Review 5:Everything! Ideal location. Room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The harbour view was lovely. Breakfast freshly cooked and great variety of quality cereal and fruits. Parking was literally a 2 minutes walk away. Definitely returning here.

Review 6:Owner turn electric sockets of at 11pm. No TV or can't use laptop or charge mobile phone. Not everyone goes to sleep at 11pm. Very poor practice. room we stayed decorated poorly cold feeling from decor.

Review 7:Only view but other hotels or BB got same view

Review 8:Proprietor Alan a great character. Room comfortable, clean and met all our requirements for an enjoyable stay in picturesque Looe. Great view from room too!

Review 9:Location was lovely, view from room across the river constantly changing with the the tide. Very clean allowed to come and go as you please. A very enjoyable stay.

Review 10:The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed everything about our stay and could not fault the shell seekers! Thank you for a lovely time we will definetly come back.

Review 11:Fantastic location. Decor matches area perfectly and is modern and fresh. Quiet location even though near the centre of Looe. Good breakfast choice in the mornings. We had a lovely stay.

Review 12:light and fan in bathroom kept going when you wasnt using the bathroom. ok for the daytime but a bit annoying in the night,

Review 13:location comfortable bedroom breakfast very good nothing too much trouble, Alan was a great host.

Review 14:Room decorated tastefully with beach theme throughout, and overlooked the harbour. We arrived early and staff went out of their way by doing our room first so as we could check in within the hour.

Review 15:Breakfast time was very rigid and the hosts comments at breakfast made us feel like we had to hurry and leave as he wanted to turn the rooms round and relax, it just marred an otherwise lovely stay, saying that he did let us check in early.

Review 16:Negative comments above would not stop me staying there again, it's in a fab location, lovely views, clean and comfortable.

Review 17:Nice location, extremely clean room , nice decor, decent breakfast ... Pleasant and helpful hosts.... Parking a bit of a problem but you expect that in Cornwall.

Review 18:The location was excellent for our purposes. The owners were very helpful and provided good background information regarding things to see and places to eat.

Review 19:Parking was a bit from the house. Smal rooms. Cats were in the house and that is dificuly If you are allergic.

Review 20:Nice wue ! Light room. Good breakfast. Host god.

Review 21:The location of Shellseekers was perfect, everything was at your doorstep to explore. The view from our room was spectacular and Alan had great recommendations for dinner. Both the room and ensuite were very clean and beautifully decorated. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 22:Cat in house, don't leave door open. Parking in public car park down road free after 6 p.m. Steps up to house.

Review 23:Location in town. Kindly went out to buy porridge and berries rather than English breakfast. Good views from bedroom of estuary.

Review 24:Lovely place to stay with an excellent view of the quayside and good location for the town and beach. The host was helpful and friendly with good local knowledge. The accommodation was bright clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and we were well looked after.

Review 25:The owner of propery hovering over you waiting to take your breakfastplates away and moaning about the toilet light been left on and notallowed to sit down stairs

Review 26:The things what e like where looe its self and ceamteas

Review 27:There was nothing about this place we didn't like as we will definitely be back for sure

Review 28:We loved the location it was a beautiful view ..The host was lovely ..great to chat to and made us very welcome .The breakfast was spot on delicious .Could not ask for a better place to stay

Review 29:Just a small point ,shelf in bathroom bit low hard to brush teeth, could be higher would solve that problem other than that nice room

Review 30:Great location and views over harbour ,nice shower..

Review 31:The room was advertised with a 'sea view' - harbour/river view would better describe it. No parking.

Review 32:Huge window in the room afforded a lovely harbour view. Friendly owner - spotless Guest House.

Review 33:the shellseekers is spot on, comfortable rooms modern decor throughout and over looking the harbour ,what more could you want? friendly cats who weren't allowed in rooms or dining area but greeted you after a day out was a bonus.

Review 34:Try and ignore other bad comments about Alan. He is only "hovering" to be on hand to help. There is nothing to complain about. Now book it.

Review 35:Alan and his wife Claire are lovely. Very welcoming and very willing to help. Go and listen to them singing in a nearby hotel. Perfect spot and would happily book there again

Review 36:Traffic noise can be bothersome, but not too intrusive.

Review 37:Overlooking the river from our room has to be one of the best aspects of this B&B. Breakfast was good, although could have been served hotter. Alan is a good host and a secret heavy metal drummer!

Review 38:Nothing bad to report

Review 39:The owners, Alan and Claire were very friendly and were accommodating throughout our stay. We look forward to returning and staying at Shell Seekers again.

Review 40:We were made to feel uncomfortable by the landlord who lurked in the dining room during breakfast whilst we engaged in conversation with other visitors. The owner also asked me why I had left some of my scrambled egg in front of other guests making me feel under pressure. I felt this was unnecessary and embarrassing.

Review 41:Bedroom was clean and bright, with amazing views over the river estuary. The price was reasonable and breakfast was adequate.

Review 42:Nothing.

Review 43:The view from the room and the proximity to the town. Alan was helpful, sociable and made us feel very welcome. The room was comfortable with everything we needed.

Review 44:Nothing at all

Review 45:We loved our view slept with blinds open to take it all in Bed comfortable Breakfast was ample and very well presented owner was friendly and very welcoming Shower and en suite facilities were perfect

Review 46:Owner hovered too much during breakfast, especially on last day. Didn't appreciate being asked about payment whilst we were still sat at table eating. found that slightly odd and unprofessional. Minor improvements could be made to make the place perfect, shower head needs upgrading and breakfast needs improvement as it was very limited. Didn't get a choice about what we did and did not want with our breakfast. Owner also put a lot of emphasis and pressure on us to not write a bad review. That we did not appreciate as it made us feel very uncomfortable.

Review 47:Loved the facilities and location and the owner was very friendly and welcoming

Review 48:I was able to use my laptop on the small table by the window, but I felt my back afterwards! Most visitors are unlikely to use their laptops as much as I was doing, if they are foolish enough to have brought them in the first place, and so would not find this a problem at all.

Review 49:As well as the great view of the river from the window, the room and ensuite had a bright, fresh, modern feel. The friendliness of the host - I bumped into him and his wife in one of the pubs one night - was a big plus too.

Review 50:Couldn't find any fault at all. A credit to the owners.

Review 51:Couldn't fault anything about the shellseekers guest house. Lovely welcoming owners and excellent facilities. Location is fantastic with views to die for. Breakfast is lovely with plenty of variety.

Review 52:Lovely bed and breakfast had a enjoyable stay. Room was perfect with ensuite the view alone was fantastic. Breakfast was great with varid choice of cereals tea or coffee and nice traditional cooked breakfast. Weekend was great and will book again.

Review 53:Would have preferred Bath sheets, a bigger TV and perhaps a heated towel rail. Other than that it was perfect for our weekend.

Review 54:Enjoyed our stay, location was very good.

Review 55:1.sitting area available on the first night but locked down on the second, very disappointed as we were planning to spend the evening in; nobody from the household available Saturday night despite ringing the bell several times 2.toiletries provided were only two tiny soaps in the bathroom 3. there was only one packet of tea biscuits to share between two of us (not a biggy but felt a bit cheap) 4. heating controlled centrally, radiators were off during the day and night; on only during set times. i think the guests should be able to control it from the room especially during winter months when wet jackets needs drying 5. breakfast VERY average, fruits were not fresh, limited juice, no choice of bread or egg. breakfast was served ready without asking how we want it cooked 6. there was no water in the room and with breakfast 7. the wife did not even come to say hello; we were having breakfast and she came in from running, went straight upstairs without even saying good morning- very strange behaviour for a b&b owner..made us feel even more uncomfortable 8. i have chosen this b&b following great reviews. that makes me think why the `great service` wasn't provided to us. was my surname not British enough? Also, what annoys me the most is the fact that I took my partner away after two brain surgeries he has been through, carefully chosen the b&b to make sure every stress is spared and pretend that all was fine to avoid upsetting him. this b&b should not be on your recommended list

Review 56:location

Review 57:I liked the location with views over the harbour and the cleanliness and comfort of the property and the owner was lovely and talkative with the guests which was nice.

Review 58:An excellent location for us for a swift weekend away from it all. A clean and comfortable room with stunning views across the river and easy access to the town with lots of facilities. Owner was very entertaining and friendly wanting to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. Would go again.

Review 59:Very friendly on arrival, very pleased with our room, was exactly what it said on the tin. Excellent location and will definitely be heading back there again.

Review 60:Nothing to dislike!

Review 61:Room matched expectations on website. Host was very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was good . Property was clean & well presented throughout & situated in an ideal location. We both enjoyed our stay.

Review 62:'Continental breakfast' consisted of two cold croissants.... host not too helpful...tiny bathroom...crumbs in the bed...

Review 63:Location was excellent, right on the harbour.

Review 64:Not being able to park near house. Can briefly unload. Pay parking past bridge. Free overnight but starts fees again at 9am. Internet signal went off overnight and then the credit card reader wouldn't work and I had to find a bank to draw out cash ( not owners's fault but annoying when in a rush)

Review 65:Friendly host. Comfortable bed. Great view from window of east Looe and the estuary. Good shower

Review 66:Breakfast was a little bit early could have a bit of variation with the time

Review 67:Great little b&b fantastic location and views looking over the harbour

Review 68:Fairly steep path from narrow road to front door. No nearby parking

Review 69:Very nice views of the river and the boats. Substantial English full breakfast but "Continental" also available.

Review 70:Amazing views and really down to earth host. Really made to feel welcome by the owner who takes real pride in looking after people. Will definitely be back agIn.

Review 71:Although we were aware there was no parking we knew Looe well enough to know that you can park your car for free up the hill rather than pay the car park fees, that aren't cheap!

Review 72:brilliant location. Room was large very clean as was the linen. Alan was very helpful and knowlegable about the area. Breakfast was good and on time. It was nice and personal as there were only 2 rooms, the atmosphere at breakfast was good with Alan chatting which made it very friendly without the awkward silence of other places where you feel you have to mutter quietly!

Review 73:We loved our stay at shellseekers guest house, the room was very clean and bright with beautiful clean white bedding which is tops for us, and the breakfast that Alan cooks is great, and what a brilliant view from our room. Marlene & John. Reading berks.

Review 74:would have enjoyed the use of the porch/ not clear if it was available

Review 75:the view of Looe location was near shops staff was very friendly/helpful

Review 76:Excellent location, lovely clean room with fantastic view. Excellent breakfast with a choice of quality cereals. Owner attentive and welcoming. Would definitely stay again

Review 77:nothing

Review 78:My husband and I stayed overnight in this pleasant guest house. Our room was not too large but was clean and lovely decorated with the sailing theme. The owner is friendly and welcoming and the cooked breakfast good. There is a loading space in front of the house and a parking nearby which is free from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.To recommend.

Review 79:Nothing except the continental breakfast was a little disappointing. Full English was fab.

Review 80:Location and big bay window was amazing! Soooo beautiful! Host was wondeful and had lots of great stories and conversation! Room had lovely decor and beach theme. Would 100% go back and recommend.

Review 81:Had a great week away in lovely Looe, our holiday was made perfect by our stay at Shellseekers. Amazing location, really clean and comfy and looked after by a very welcoming and helpful host Alan, what more could you want. Would certainly recommend.

Review 82:Looe is a seaside town with very few good restaurants and cannot be called quaint, if you want the beach and amusement scene then it's for you, we would have preferred more quaint shops etc...

Review 83:The owner was very helpful, the room was spotless and bright and the location is great for a visit to Looe and Polperro

Review 84:The 8.30 breakfast as the owner wants to get the rooms cleaned for the next occupants. A little leaway would have gone a long way.

Review 85:Shellseekers is set right on the harbour front with lovely views over the estuary. Rooms spotless with sailing theme which runs throughout the guest house. Breakfast lovely.

Review 86:That we didn't stay here for 2 nights instead of just the one.

Review 87:Very pleasant room with a great view of the harbour. We slept very well there. I loved the relaxing seaside blues and greens of their colour scheme. Close walk to everything, and parking not too far away at no cost after 6; a short-term drop-off parking space near the guest house. Breakfast was cooked to order and served in the lounge; the owner stayed to chat, and he's a lot of fun.

Review 88:Liked most of it. Would have liked curtains on the windows as well as blinds to keep room dark. Would have liked more choice of cereals and a bigger breakfast with brown toast; but having said that it was good.

Review 89:Was made to feel very welcome, the views from the room were amazing. The breakfast was delicious
