Reviews for Hotel Petka

Review 1:It takes 30-40 minutes to get to old city on foot. Food is so basic that for breakfast, we were offered only eggs and coffee. Rooms are so old and the covers of bed were dirty. Its very dusty.

Review 2:There is a bus in front of the hotel. There is a parking included. Staff is ok.

Review 3:Advertised 'king-size" bed turned out to be two singles pushed together with bedding for singles. I was initially told that there are no king-size beds in the hotel. Then, I was moved to a room with the "only" king-size bed in the hotel. Turned out to be a king-size mattress with two sets of single bedding.

Review 4:Excellent restaurant ("Tavern") on ground floor. Good breakfast in cafe off the lobby. Bus stop across the street convenient for access to the old city.

Review 5:Children running down the corridor at 7am, a parental fault not the hotels

Review 6:Great location and view, excellent price for an off-season break in an otherwise expensive (for Croatia) city.

Review 7:Excellent location close to port and bus station. 20 mins walk to old town but lots of buses. Close to port for island hopping. Supermarkets and restaurants nearby.

Review 8:Staff on arrival were very welcoming and helpful. Great location for those travelling on to the islands; a five minute walk from the Central Bus Station and Jadrolinija Ferry Service.

Review 9:Great location, helpful staff, we payed extra money for a room with balcony and that was a great decision, the view is worth of extra 10 Euro per night. They put the kinder bed in our room as we requested. We were at low season and we are very satisfied with the quality for offered price.

Review 10:The only thing letting down the Petka was the dodgy WiFi

Review 11:The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, the view from the balcony, the close proximity to good walks and transport to the Old Town.

Review 12:Great value for money. Spotlessly clean, fast wifi everywhere and free parking. All that you need. It's a bit of a (though pleasant...) walk to the old town but there's a bus stop in front of the hotel as well.

Review 13:Nothing to criticise

Review 14:It was exceptional value for money. Breakfast buffet excellent and location a short and cheap bus ride away from old city. No noise, clean and efficient. Staff very helpful.

Review 15:No tomatoes at breakfast! That's it!

Review 16:Although I've been to Dubrovnik twice before, I'd stayed in Lapad, but that was 10 years ago. Gruz was a new area for me & the hotel has an excellent location, view & value for money - especially if you pay the small extra for a sea view room with balcony. Good breakfast considering the rating. Adjacent to the harbour, bus stop & shops, bars & restaurants, it makes a pleasant relief from the naked greed of Old Dubrovnik.

Review 17:Ideal location for flight connection having returned from Medjugorje. Bus station less than 5 minutes from hotel. Also views over the harbour fabulous. Ideal for visiting the old town of Dubrovnik.

Review 18:No directions on how to enter with your suitcase to use the elevator and bypass the stairs (enter via the restaurant) - Coffee machine uses what tasted like powdered milk so wasn't delicious.

Review 19:Directly across from the Port for Jadrolinja Ferries and close to cruise ships - Staff helpful and friendly - luggage storage - room clean and relatively large for Europe - Breakfast better than expected including bacon and eggs. Front rooms have nice views.

Review 20:Harbour view and balcony. Spacious room and bathroom. On bus route so very easy to ride to old town and outer areas. Easy access from ferries. Better to live here than near the old town because bus service excellent. No steps!

Review 21:Well,well,well,nobody told me that Big Bell next to the hotel exctualy working :-)) Really 6am! And every day!

Review 22:Very nice view from balcony and nice entrance to the hotel

Review 23:- room and lift are small for customers and luggage - a liitle bit far from the old town - cool staff

Review 24:- free car park and quiet - bus stop to old town just opposite to hotel - close to the port if you go there by ferry

Review 25:Staff at Breakfast were horrible. Reception staff were excellent & helpful.

Review 26:Outdoor balcony..great view. Nice Alfresco Diining at Restaurant next door. Good good.

Review 27:quality 0f room furnishings could be higher. Curtains need replacing ,did not seal out the light effectively . more carpeting . upgrade the breakfast presentation

Review 28:harbour situation and convenience to bus routes

Review 29:The hotel was very conveniently located. Bus stop to the Old Town was just in front and only an eight minute ride. Food services just steps away. the Port and Central Bus Station were close as well.

Review 30:Not politely creaning, (maybe only towels).

Review 31:Breakfast is available from 6 - 10 AM. The bus stop is in front of hotel, convenient to reach Old town. Not expensive.

Review 32:Empty atmosphere of bar and mediocre breakfast.

Review 33:Very convenient for onward travel by boat or bus. Wonderful view of the harbour and boat traffic. Easy access to old town without the mass tourism.

Review 34:n/a

Review 35:Friendly and efficient staff, comfortable hotel in a fantastic location, served by good transport links, lovely restaurants/bars and local shops nearby - we were very happy to be slightly away from the busy main centre and had all the facilities we needed on our doorstep. If visiting again, would definitely stay here again.

Review 36:Stairs to the reception - disturbing for heavy baggage.

Review 37:Good location for working only. Stay in the room away from the street in not only quite - it is also towards the northern side without strong sun. Excellent breakfast for 3 star hotel. Good WiFi.

Review 38:Early check in not possible.

Review 39:Great view from the balcony. Comfortable rooms.Dubrovnik old town accessible by walk. Good relation between quality and price. Very good internet connection.Free parking.

Review 40:Air conditioning noisy. Mini bar not full. Had to go down stairs.

Review 41:Great value for money. Great views over the harbour. Free parking. Directly opposite bus stop. Short and cheap bus ride to old town. Great breakfast. Very clean shower room. Big room and balcony.

Review 42:A great position near both the port and the bus station. The room was small but comfortable and the breakfast buffet was quite lavish. We found it was an advantage to be away from the tourist crowds in the old town and it was very easy to catch the local bus from opposite the hotel.

Review 43:First dinner & breakfast OK. Nothing to write home about. Second dinner concierge sitting on lounge chatting to friend. Friend had to draw attention to my presence. Reaction was "how dare you interrupt my chat!" Food was luke-warm, wedges (if that's what they were meant to be) rested in a layer of oil in the bottom of the heating (which wasn't). It took almost ten minutes to get the glass of wine I asked for. When I asked for the manager, receptionist told me there was no management on site. Something was obviously said because from this point on, concierge couldn't do enough for me - even personally escorting me to my table at breakfast. Again, the food was luke-warm and unappetising.

Review 44:Reception staff very helpful. Location good for port but bumpy, jerky bus ride to Old Town works against the hotel's location.

Review 45:Very basic hotel. No iron available in the room, you have to pay for the service. For business travel not recommended to stay. Coffee is made from powder and juice is not a juice, breakfast very basic. Tap water has an awful taste as smell. No air-conditioning in the elevator and corridors. Due to thunderstorm, elevator stopped working and was not fixed for 2 days, people had to carry heavy bags by stairs.

Review 46:Internet is very good and stable, as well as car parking available which is good. Good location.

Review 47:For th price and what we wanted, we cannot find qnything bad to say

Review 48:Great location for us. A few minutes walk to the port and bus station. A bus stop directly outside for a short bus to the main town! Lovely clean rooms. Nice breakfast

Review 49:The cleaning of the room. The cleaning means just changing the towels and shampoos. Our bathroom was not cleaned at all during our stay.

Review 50:The Location and the Staff at reception. They are very helpful and their recommendations are quiet good.

Review 51:No help with luggage. Lots of stairs to get to lobby. Staff do not clean drinking glasses or change sheets daily. Tiny shower. Do not keep up with repairs. Old and tired hotel, needs remodeling and updating.

Review 52:Great Location, near port, sightseeing boats, ferries, taxis, bus lines to old town, also long term buses drive up the coast all the way to Split. Big Conzum grocery store, bakeries, great restorant "Porat"is nearby. Great views from balcony.

Review 53:The only thing that really bothered us, was the condition of toilet. The roof was almost rusted with a very bad smell inside !

Review 54:Pekta is located perfectlly in front of new port, and if you book a room with a sea view, you'll count down to wake up every morning in order to see the fantastic view of dubrovnik. Bus stop is just in front of the hotel with the easy and fast access to every where in the city. also there are plenty of very good restaurants and shops near by. moreover, Pekta has a very goog breakfast that you shouldn'y miss it :) Wifi was also fast enough.

Review 55:It does not offer any good surprise. What you get is what you see . It's just "one more hotel". Maybe a restylling would be helpfull.

Review 56:Location near the Port Bus across the street Car parking

Review 57:No indication there was a elevator on the ground floor when we arrived. We took the stairs to the reception with our suitcases.

Review 58:Perfect location to take the ferry to Kolocep. The airport bus stops close to the hotel. Busstop in front of the hotel.

Review 59:Being a Vegan, there wasn't much of a choice for breakfast. There wasnt alot of English channels on TV. Only 2. Beds could do with new spreads. One in my room had seen better days. There were hairs on the sheets. Overall, it was Ok just a bit dated.

Review 60:Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Location to port. Air con in rooms! Nice Hard beds.

Review 61:None

Review 62:Everything went smoothly during the whole week. Very professional. Reasonable prices - no charge for safe use. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Review 63:The receptionist when we arrived was unhelpful and not welcoming. The next morning they were much better. The red wine was awful and very expensive.

Review 64:Close to port and bus station. Served a decent breakfast and the rooms were perfectly comfortable and clean. The view from the balcony was pretty good.

Review 65:The room was a little dated, and the carpets not 100% clean. Bedding didn't look fresh.

Review 66:Location was relatively close to bus station. Easy getting from airport to hotel via bus. Same goes for traveling to Split.

Review 67:Instead of having a double bed we had 2 single beds pushed together. Other than that, the accommodation was fine.

Review 68:The hotel is 2mins walk from the main bus and ferry terminal, and directly outside the hotel was the bus stop for a short bus ride into old town. The hotel has great views and a good buffet breakfast and Wifi. The room is spacious, air conditioned and clean. The bathroom is also reasonably sized, modern and clean.

Review 69:The entrance is a good 10+ flight of steps which is not at all good for travelers with suitcases (which is always the case). This a hotel suited for backpackers. I tried twice to contact them by email before I arrived but I never got a response.

Review 70:The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly

Review 71:Hotel is very convenient for getting Atlas shuttle bus to and from airport, for local bus to old town, for boat trips. We had a lovely sea view room. We found hotel very clean and comfortable with good facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent hotel for relaxing break.

Review 72:Wanted to leave a small amount of luggage until my return a week later but no go . Got charged for a cup of tea ... With my own tea bag!

Review 73:Close to port grub and departure point for cruise

Review 74:When I got out of my taxi upon arrival, on a very hot day, I faced a staircase of 20 steps up to the lobby level. There was no indication of an elevator. I had to leave my heavy suitcase on the street level (fortunately, Croatia does not have a crime problem) while I walked up the stairs to the reception desk to request help. After checking in, I searched and found that the elevator does go to the street level, but the route from the street to the elevator is a circuitous route through the Taverna. Some signage would help.

Review 75:I was looking for lodging near the intercity bus station for an early morning bus. Petra is a simple 10 minute walk to the bus station. Also, my dinner in the Taverna was excellent, as was the included breakfast.

Review 76:Only a minor point but would have preferred a proper double bed as advertised than to singles pushed together.

Review 77:Close to the bus station for airport shuttle and local buses to the centre just 10 mins from stop outside hotel. Good friendly staff at reception and food in taverna was great.

Review 78:I did have an issue with the wifi for several hours, but my friends was working well- staff tried to rectify but after several hours it all came back to me. Bathroom light weak.

Review 79:This is the 2nd time I have stayed here, for the location on the port side. The view of the harbour, the boats and sunsets were fabulous. Staff courteous and helpful and the restaurant Porat down the road is awesome. Bus stop right outside to go to Old Town.

Review 80:Telltale faint aroma of a room that wasn't always non-smoking.

Review 81:Excellent location (assuming you want to be near the port/bus station). Easy to reach Old Town via bus stop opposite. WiFi worked in my room and buffet breakfast was adequate.

Review 82:Beds were a lite uncomfortable but that is the only thing I can fault the hotel on!!! Everything else was fabulous!!!

Review 83:Every member of staff was so helpful, have us directions to landmarks and made us feel so welcome! The view from our balcony was amazing, out onto the port!!

Review 84:We have stayed at the Hotel Petka on many occasions. The wonderful staff, but also the location bring us back every time. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Dubrovnik.

Review 85:1. No hot water to shower. 2. Cannot connect to the wifi in fourth floor and the staff did not know how to solve it. 3. Room is cold, the air conditioner does not work.

Review 86:Near the main bus station. Breakfast is good.

Review 87:Staff are very cool, hard to find a smile

Review 88:we opt for half board which includes dinner. though the food is average yet the price is attractive when u are in Dubrovnik which is quite expensive compared with other cities in Croatia

Review 89:Small bathroom (fits one person at a time). Wi-fi connection slow + dropping constantly

Review 90:Air conditioning. 5 minute walk to the main bus station (airport shuttle). Very affordable drinks in the hotel bar (tavern). Comfortable (firm) bed mattress. Polite and friendly staff

Review 91:One of the staff in the afternoon shift was particularly rude, black-faced and devoid of basic courtesy and greetings that I felt like slapping his smug face with a trout fresh caught from the Dalmatian Sea. The wifi in the room was weak and ailing I had to go to the lobby to at least watch a YouTube video without it buffering. Only did I realise how soundproof-less the doors of the rooms were: I heard quarrels, late night phone chatters and mating noises and what nots.

Review 92:The staff (except for one black sheep) were excellent and friendly! The breakfast was ok in my opinion, and you could request an omelette to be served if the buffet spread is still inadequate. The location is all right (far from the old town) but you could still catch a frequent bus just right opposite the hotel.

Review 93:I understand it is offseason, but the "buffet" breakfast is really disappointing. I have a whole table of jam and butter to choose from, but not much actual food. Restaurant staff offered an order to make omelette. The staff also gave me a domestic orange which is much better than the imported oranges that were on the food table. I appreciate all these.

Review 94:a few minutes walk from main bus station, and a local bus stop is right in front of the hotel. I picked this hotel mostly because of my early flight to Zagreb. Everything about the room is fine.

Review 95:Studing the hotel in advance and adjusting your expectation accordingly, you can only be surprised.

Review 96:Front office is staffed better than several Dubrovnik Hotels with presumably much higher ratings. I did not miss the "overly friendliness", which in most cases resembles a smile of a fred fish on a plate. Location, for more reasons than Dubrovnik Port and the Bus station. It is easy to get to Pile, even with the temporary re-routing of the busses.

Review 97:Location just by a bus stop into the old city that had a few buses that went that way right opposite the ferries and walking distance to big long distance bus station, good breakfast, satellite tv nice ensuite

Review 98:Everything was great. The location near the busstation/airport shuttlebus was excellent. Not so far from old city and other points of interest, walkingdistance to everywhere. Staff very nice and helpful. I can recommend this hotel to everyone.

Review 99:the wonderful staff, the service, the Nostromo taverna, breakfast, clean, comfortable room with a view to die for from the balcony, location near ferry terminal and bus stops and taxi rank.

Review 100:Outside the hotel is a church which rings every morning around 5 and it wakes you up. Terrace has 2 chairs but it needs a table.

Review 101:Everything was excellent for a 3* hotel.

Review 102:The hotel is within walking distance after deporting our cruise ship. The harbor is absolutely gorgeous. Bus to the Old City is across the street, or only a 30 minute walk.

Review 103:Wi fi signal in the rooms is too weak to use.

Review 104:It's a clean, basic but comfortable hotel. Perfectly located for taking the ferry anywhere from Dubrovnik and only 5 minutes taxi ride from the old town.

Review 105:Excellent Location. Local Bus to the old town right across the street..Had a lovely room at front of hotel on 3rd floor so had a great view of the harbour and all the cruise liners.

Review 106:The WIFI had a different password for each floor. We were on 4th floor and could only get it to work about 5% of the time. Once we logged into the "traverna" once from the balcony but it was too weak and disconnected.

Review 107:It was a good location right on the bus to old town. Also a nice view of a harbor across the street.

Review 108:too many 'super tanker' cruise ships all docking at the same time can make it difficult to get on a bus, or get a taxi, and make walking around the old town a trial. Not made easier by the 'Game of Thrones' rigmarole. But not something within the control of the Hotel Petka and its excellent staff.

Review 109:Just about everything. The staff all over the hotel were kind, helpful and responsive. The breakfast choice was good and the food in the Nostromo Taverna was excellent. Easy to reach from the ferry and bus and taxi connections to the old town and to the local islands and other local places. Good local walking in the hills around Gruz.

Review 110:nothing to dislike

Review 111:Stayed only 1 night en route for Split. Chose hotel because close to bus station. Good restaurant with terrace for evening meal. Varied breakfast included.

Review 112:Unexciting breakfast. Like everything in Dubrovnik, a lot of money for not very much. Unreliable wifi even beside the antenna.

Review 113:Well placed on Gruz harbour near bus stops. Friendly front desk staff.

Review 114:Small shower

Review 115:Close proximity to ferry terminal, bus terminal, and regular bus 10 minute ride to Dubrovnik Old Town. Good restaurant out front for stay at home dinner.

Review 116:Hotel Petka is a landmark in Dubrovnik, easy to find and within walking distance from the main bus stop and ferry port. Beautiful views from hotel veranda. Good breakfasts. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent same day laundry service. Clean comfortable rooms.

Review 117:A little far from the old town, worth considering. Takes about 30 mins to walk there or you can take a bus, whatever's easier for you.

Review 118:The hotel was very clean, nice room for the price. Good WiFi. Location is good for the bus station and ferries. Large supermarket opposite the hotel for picking up supplies. Actually had one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time!

Review 119:Many steps leading to reception - have to carry bags u c.20 steps which can be very difficult

Review 120:Convenient location (close to Gruz harbour and main bus station) Clean and comfortable

Review 121:The smell of cigarettes and the wall to wall carpet. We ordered a non-smoking room, but someone had been smoking in that room for several years.

Review 122:Location and restaurant. And fast check in.

Review 123:Rooms could have done with a kettle/hot drink facilities

Review 124:Perfect hotel for what we needed - good location, near to bus stop/station, nice breakfast, wifi, friendly staff, clean rooms

Review 125:I arrived early in the morning and they had a room ready for me. I had an issue with the plug in my sink and maintenance was sent straight away and it was fixed. Breakfast was lovely as well.

Review 126:Staff was excellent and helpful. This hotel is older, but well maintained and very clean. Located quite close to bus station and a taxi stand immediately across the street.

Review 127:This property is pretty dated and in much need of some attention. Wifi does not work well in the rooms due to poor signal.

Review 128:This is a pretty average hotel and the service to match. Nothing interesting. It's 10 minutes cab from old town but close to the port in case you are getting on a boat. That's about it.

Review 129:Getting to the limousine bus terminal near to the port, takes almost 15 minutes walk. If a big ferry calls at the port, the engine noise will bother you. I experienced it in morning, and could not keep sleeping.

Review 130:The hotel is in front of Gruz Ferry Terminal. If you use ferry, this hotel is very convenient. There are also many buses from the port to the old town, good for sightseeing. A big store Konzum is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. You can buy many goods such as foods, drinks even some souvenirs (Kras' Bajadera Chocolates).

Review 131:The room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke! Very unpleasant for a non smoker. Bed was very hard

Review 132:Friendly, helpful staff. Great location, close to the docks
