Reviews for Pension Alexandra
Review 1:Within easy walking distance of Hora, good beach at Agios Stephanos and small but well-stocked supermarket. Lift to and from the airport. Fridge and kettle in room.
Review 2:The guy at the reception promised us that he would pick us up to the airport at 8:00 am the morning we were about to leave, but nobody showed up the next morning (!) - something that caused us nearly miss our flight because there is no taxi available nearby. by luck we caught one on the road that also ripped off our pocket for 10 mins drive... Also when we arrived the same day at the old port of mykonos none came looking for us as promissed on email. As they mentioned here before on reviews - indeed, it is not a taxi service but when you give someone your word, you should remember he believes you...
Review 3:clean place, nice rooms, reasonable price comparing to Mykonos which is overpriced by my opinion.
Review 4:rooms on the ground floor are a bit noisy and dark some rooms even cannot see the daylight which is not a problem if you use the room only for sleeping.
Review 5:the price, the hotel is in walking distance to the city center but a little bit dangerous because you have to walk on the railway (15mints), clean and free transfer is always good. staff is friendly and ready to help.
Review 6:Really nice place, very clean with everything you need. Hosts were very helpful with directions and even taking my friend to the clinic when she was sick! I highly recommend this location.
Review 7:About a 15 minute walk down a fast, poorly lit highway with no footpath. The hotel provide torches, use one, or better still get the bus back at night.
Review 8:Great for a short stay, especially if you want to get to the ferry. Very helpful , friendly staff. Make sure you ask for a pickup from the airport as its tucked away behind other hotels and not easy to see from the road. Very good value for money, for Mykonos.
Review 9:The location is between the city and the new port. The road is dangerous to walk, so you have to take the bus or risk it. Mykonos is nice but really expensive.
Review 10:They picked me up from the ferry.
Review 11:It is about 25 minutes walking to the Mykonos city center.
Review 12:The staff is so nice and kind, offering all the useful information and practical services such as free pick up laundry etc. Room on the ground floor has a small cute garden. The double room is very cozy and clean equipped with all the necessary facilities.
Review 13:Wonderfully friendly staff who were really helpful - pickup and drop off from port and airport was a godsend! Great location in terms of value for money: short bus ride into main town of Mykonos and quiet to sleep.
Review 14:The bathroom was small and there was no way to shower without wetting the whole bathroom the sink leaked. The bed was hard as a rock.
Review 15:The roof top view was nice. The pick up and drop off was very helpful.
Review 16:The staff is very friendly and helpful. They picked us from the port and they helped us rent a scouter! Everything was done in just 15 minutes. Plus, they allowed us an early check in since we arrived at 10am and although we had reservation for twin room we got double room-upper floor which was great! The location is fine but you still need to rent a car or scouter since it`s not very close to Mykonos Town.
Review 17:The location was just a little too far away from our activities in Myconos town (Old Port shopping eating and both Old Port and Fabrica for bus connections) so we relied on the local bus rating it 3.5 out of 5. This was our fault for not researching enough before booking.
Review 18:The young girl at reception was great and never seemed to sleep as she was there whenever we walked past. The pick up and drop off was great.
Review 19:Busy road if walking to get meal at nearby taverna. But not noisy for sleeping.
Review 20:very friendly staff. Lovely outdoor space for breakfast. Super-clean and comfy.
Review 21:All of the staff were really helpful and friendly. Free transfer from the airport. The room was very clean, windows newly renovated and big TV. I would return because the staff were very accommodating.
Review 22:Nothing.
Review 23:Very comfortable and spacious room. Located 15 minutes from Mykonos Town and from the closest developed beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 24:Although it says that airport and port transfer is free, they didnt take us to airport while leaving. They said that they only make transfers between 9 am to 12pm. Staff couldnt inform us well about the transportation to the beaches so we had to walk a lot.
Review 25:Staff was nice, room was small but clean. We found it quite secure.
Review 26:The hotel is close to Mykonos town, but you have to take the bus, because the way to get there is very narrow and with very traffic and sometimes is dangerous.
Review 27:The staff speak many languages, even Spanish. It's not common in Greece... They were very kind, they took us to the port for free. The room very nice and with all the facilities.
Review 28:None
Review 29:Hospitality really makes a difference. This family-run business is warm and cozy. The owners take good care of their guests, providing free transfer from port/airport. The location is right in between the old port and new port, bus stop is just across the street. Overall, i would call this place "great value for money" for solo travelers or even long-stay.
Review 30:The only thing that I didn't like (and it's not the fault of anyone at Pension Alexandra) is the location of the rooms. It's not the best place on Mykonos for a longer stay. The road is very busy and dangerous to walk along especially at night with a child but we had to walk a short way to get to a restaurant.
Review 31:These rooms were very handy for us as we were only staying for one night and wanted to travel early the next morning from the New Port at Troulos on Mykonos to another island. It was very easy for us to arrange collection from the airport and also a transfer the next morning to the port.
Review 32:bathrooms can be a little small with some rooms and some minor attention e.g.; Toilet seat, shower attachment on wall broken.
Review 33:On the whole based on the price paid and the location this is an amazing little pension! the owners and staff are fabulous and we really enjoyed our stay here which was a stopover on our way to and from the island of Paros. I would definitely book this accommodation again if returning to Mykonos and perhaps stay a little longer. Although not a big fan of Mykonos in high season as much prefer it out of season when its not so crowded. Tourlos was far enough away from the Xora to feel quiet enough. The road outside can be very busy especially when a ferry is in the port. Strangely though we never heard any road noise in our room as the pension is set back from the road in a quiet corner. There is a supermarket within easy walking distance as are a couple of nice restaurants/hotels. We found the prices quite reasonable for Mykonos. The new port is walking distance but because of the busy road and no footpath the transfers provided to and from port and airport were excellent. We used the bus to get into the town/Xora but during daytime the walk was OK. We also used the Seabus at night which was a lovely way to get into town and it went right into the old port which is more central than the bus drop-off point. At €2 each way was only 40cent more than the bus and had a regular service at least every hour sometimes half-hourly at busy times. We had a 4 bedded room and then 2 twin rooms. They were spotlessly clean and tidy. The wifi was good and we even had a little terrace with small table and chairs which was lovely. Overall I am very pleased we chose the Alexandra Pension as it didn't disappoint.
Review 34:First, the owner was late for the pick up. We had to call him to make sure that he is coming. What if we were travelers without mobile phone that can be used?! Secondly, when we were checking out we asked them if they can drop us to city center they said literally that 'We are not taxi company, taxi company gets angry on us if we do that.' in somewhat agressive or cross way. We were shocked and didn't even bother to ask him to give us the ride to the port.(which is free service as written in the confirmation) Lastly, they didn't show any courtesy for little bit of late checkout. We were disappointed because we chose this place based on the reviews in this website and most of the reviews said the owner is super kind and helpful. I feel sorry that we have been treated in a different way and I had to make this note here. Everything that happened in our 3 das' trip was perfect except this thing that happened in pension Alexandra. I just hope it was 1 mistake he made and it never happens again to anyone.
Review 35:The location was 10~15 minutes walking distance from the port and the town. Me and my friend liked it because we generally enjoyed walking.
Review 36:When we arrived to the hotel we were informed that because of a health problem of another resident we couldn't stay there. They had already though booked a room for us at the next hotel and they invited us the breakfast! The staff was very friendly, even though we did't experience any inconvenience they apologised a hundred times! The location is very good, 15 minutes walk to the city center.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:The room is clean and price is the lowest one in Mykonos. Good location, near port and not far from center. There is a small yard with our room. The most important is that the owner is very very nice! He picked us upand send us to the port. He also sent us to downtown when we asked(normally they don't send guests to downtown). When I'm leavingat the port I found that my iPhone was left in the hotel. The boat was10minutes left to go. I was so impressed when the owner send me myiPhone with a fast motorbike. I would highly recommend this hotel to myfriends when they visit Mykonos.
Review 39:The bed was not very comfortable. It was pretty thin and we could feel the springs in it.
Review 40:The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We were picked up from the airport and they assisted us with figuring out where to go for the ferry when we left. We arrived pretty early but they allowed us to leave our bags and gave us tips on where to go while we waited for the room. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to downtown and there is a couple of beaches right across the street.
Review 41:My request through Booking to have a Queen bed wasn't considered. After asking for explanation they were helpful. Even if I didn't get the upper room with Queen Bed I reserved, I could have at least the Queen Bed.
Review 42:Nice staff, personal amable.
Review 43:Friendly,helpful hosts Manolis and Marchello, good location, 2 beaches nearby.15min walk to myk town or buses every half hr. Efficient transport to and from ferry/airport.
Review 44:I knew it's not in the city and therefore the price reflects that. So if you want to have easy access to the city, rent a quad or ATV. And make sure you park it closer to the main road as one morning when we woke up to go out, we were blocked by other inconsiderate drivers, the way to get our quad out of the alley got completely blocked and we lost time and money that day as we couldn't go anywhere and had planned on visiting two more sites before having to return the quad by noon that morning. It's nothing about the owner of the hotel or the hotel itself, it's just customers at other hotels next to it. But it'll impact your overall experience.
Review 45:The staff were friendly and helpful in giving advice on where to go and what to see. It's a family run business and the place is kept clean and up-to-date.
Review 46:Unreliable taxis and buses meant we had to walk into the main town, dodging traffic on the hot, narrow road
Review 47:Helpful and friendly owners. Relaxed, clean, comfortable.
Review 48:Staff was very very very friendly and helpful. One of the staff member helped me print and picked me up from the port. The location was spot on. I would go again and recommend this hotel to my friends.
Review 49:There wasn't a shower curtain in the bathroom, which meant we had a wet floor a lot!
Review 50:The staff were very friendly and accommodating and even played their Greek bazookees for us! The rooms were pretty basic but very clean. Walking distance from the ferry to our pension and from our pension into town (about 20 mins. each way). We were given a ride back to the ferry and had we let the staff know our arrival time they would have picked us up as well!
Review 51:-It's about 15~20min of walking distance to the town. no sidewalk for pedestrians. Very windy. if you rent a motorbike then it's fine.
Review 52:-Very fast wifi in my room which is on the second floor -free delivery to the port -room is not big, but spacious enough. Very clean.
Review 53:There were no domestic items in the room. Not even a glass to drink out of.
Review 54:The proprietor contacted us and arranged an airport pick up , which was very prompt. The room was very clean but basic . We were given a lift to the port , which wasn't expected or asked for
Review 55:Nothing!!!
Review 56:We loved absolutely everything about Pension Alexandra! From the moment we landed, we were warmly greeted at the airport to be picked up and taken back to the pension. Everyone was so kind and hospitable and made it very comfortable and welcoming for us. They helped out in any way possible making sure we had the best experience. Our room was even upgraded to the top floor with a large rooftop balcony and a view overlooking the beach 50 meters away! The walk into Mykonos town is about 20 minutes away which is really not bad at all. By the end of our stay we had become friends with the owner and staff and when saying goodbye, we felt like we were leaving family behind! We are so pleased we chose Pension Alexandra and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mykonos!
Review 57:I little far from city centre on foot. I just have a little problem, the housekepper has moved my stuff from the table and bed and when I arrived I couldnt find easily my little wallet that I left beside my bag. I have found it. But in my point of view she cannot touch in guests stuff.
Review 58:It is clean and nice.
Review 59:1 km uphill to town. 450 meters to closest store and no sidewalks.
Review 60:Comfortable bed. Helpful owner. Pick up and drop off from port for free. Helped with rental quad bike.
Review 61:The walk into town is a bit hairy when the road is busy but not that far. Take the high road for amazing views.
Review 62:Manoli and his wife Maria were very welcoming and friendly to talk to. The room is simple but nice and good value for money. If you want to stay with genuine Greek people who care about their island this is a good choice.
Review 63:The accomodations were simple, clean and the perfect distance from Mykonos Town. Not too close to the bustle, but no more than a leisurely 10 min walk to the center of town. It's conveniently located to the new port. The proprietors were awesome, accomodating and extremely helpful.
Review 64:The bad was not very comfi, wi-fi on and off, staff could not speak english. Hard to find by car as there are no signs.
Review 65:The place, beautiful and modern, very clean and tide. Nice swimming pool. Good location if you have a car.
Review 66:The room is a bit small but ok.
Review 67:The guest house is located between the old port and the new port. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We got free transfer on arrival and especially when we left at 7am the next day.
Review 68:The Pension was located on a busy road, between the new port and Mykonos town. Location neither here not there. Rooms were still quiet as windows were double glazed, until they were opened. Although a only a 15 minute walk from the main town of Mykonos, the walk was along a busy road with no pedestrian path. The bus into town was not very frequent and had to cross a very busy road to get to the bus stop. WiFi signal strength decreased in my room. But I guess these negatives were taken into account when the owners determined prices.
Review 69:Staff were very friendly, pick up from the ferry was much appreciated. Rooms were basic, but clean and tidy, and had everything I needed - comfortable beds, air conditioning, bar fridge, windows that opened Even dropped us into town when they were heading in there. Breakfast was good and filling and offered a few options to cater for different tastes. WiFi was good in the courtyard/common area.
Review 70:nothing bad for this price maybe a nylon cover in the bathroom will help because during shower water goes everywhere
Review 71:The location is perfect 1km from the center 500m from the port ! The hotel staff was very helpful and funny also ! Free, IN TIME pick up and drop off to the port The room was big enough for two persons two bikes and our lougage ! Not a five star hotel room but in greece this kind of room is comon in the 70% of small family running hotels and in many occasions from one to three star hotels ! The price is fair if you want a bigger room or huge bathroom or 5 star accomodation you have to pay in mikonos around 300-500 euros per night
Review 72:It's better if you rent a car which is not expensive. Because bus and taxi not common in island. you can wait like 30 mins...
Review 73:First of all, don't expect 5 star hotel quality. But you can find great hospitality, good location, good suggestions from staff and clean rooms, good wifi. Breakfast is good (optional, 5euro) (Manoli and Marcelo ate great guys, i would choose here even if i had chance to choose a hotel again.)
Review 74:Walking on the road competing with the traffic but as of next year they are thinking of providing transfers to town.
Review 75:Close to the port, the staff were helpful, the room was clean, able to provide our own breakfast even though there was an option to buy. Staff provide transfers to port & airport.
Review 76:False advertising because there isn't a real parking.the reception staff are friendly but they're interested .... Rooms are noisy, tidy, wet and for the price this is not exactly at what you expect! Won't recommend! S.C.
Review 77:Avoid rhe Greeky looking taverna outside the place (Marias Ithink) yak!!!!!
Review 78:Our room was on the top of the building with views of ferries and cruiseships coming into the new port. We were picked of and drop off at theport on arrival and departure by owner, this was much appreciated :)Local enough to town (which is fab) to walk in about 10 to 15 minsalthough it is up a dark winding road without pavement so take care. Wewould have no hesitation in recommending/returning to this place, thanks for a pleasant stay x
Review 79:Nothing to complain for that price in Mykonos. I will only suggest to add shower curtain and some small shampoo/soap disposables.
Review 80:Excellent value for money if you consider that the pick up from/to port/airport is included in the price (if you call a taxi, you should pay 40€ and wait a lot, given the few cabs available in Mykonos). However, the price of the pension is overall one of lowest in Mykonos. The manager and the owner of the pension are very helpful people and make their best to make you feel a relaxed atmosphere. They can even organize your rental of car/motocycle with a company that come to the pension picking you up for free and return you back at the end of rentals. The position of the pension is even okay, bacause Tourlos is the closest village to Chora, the main village of Mykonos. Yes, you cannot walk easly to go there (1,5 km), anyway in Mykonos you will necessary need a car/motocycle because if you stay at Chora, you will need to go the the beach far away and if you stay at the beach, you will need to visit Chora. By the way, just in front of the pension, there is the bus stop for the bus that connect to the old port of Chora, in case you are not a recommended driver. Good wifi signal in the lobby and room. Plug for mosquito tablets provided in the room. Very small room and bathroom but all fornitures painted freshly.
Review 81:Its about 15 min walk from the centre and going back and forthespecially during the night is quite intimidating as there is nopavement and you need to walk in a semi deserted street. However Iwouldn't mind staying again.
Review 82:The Staff Anoha and Marcello are super friendly, very very very helpfuland kind, they are the Hotel's best asset!! The Hotel is basic butit has all the needs: clean, refrigerator, ac, own bathroom and theprice included all transfers form airport to hotel and back to theAirport. The hotel also offers extra bathrooms with showering facilitiesjust in case they are fully booked and cannot offer late checkout to
Review 83:facilites are not molden
Review 84:free pick up from port. Good Staff. Locationi is good. There is a beach with clear just opposite to the hotel. with clear water and colourful fish.
Review 85:We were picked up from the airport by a very friendly member of staff who told us allot about the island and how to get where. The hotel itself was very alternative and our room was no exception. Built into a cave the room had natural rocks from the mountain built in. If you are staying ask for room B. It really was something special. The bus to mykonos town is right across the road at only €1.60 each way and only takes about 5 minutes. A staff member kindly dropped us to the port with very short notice and for no fee to continue our island hopping. Would defiantly stay again :)
Review 86:No tv in room, which it states there is on booking.com
Review 87:We were picked up from the port and doped off at the airport. Our room was spacious and had a lovely outdoor area. Bus stops very close to hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room had a fridge and air con.
Review 88:The location was a little far out of the way but there is a bus and it is close to the main port which was alright
Review 89:The rooms were very clean, the pictures posted on this website do not do it justice. The staff were amazing and very helpful. They gave us a ride more than once. Thank you!
Review 90:The location of the hotel is not ideal: although it is close from Mykonos town and the new port, there is no pedestrian walkway along the road and one needs to take a bus or a cab (difficult in Mykonos) to go anywhere.
Review 91:We stayed as a family of four for one night in this small and simple hotel before catching a plane early next morning. The hotel was perfect for our purpose: clean, quiet, air-conditioned room with a free pick-up and delivery service to the airport.
Review 92:It's a little hidden away so might be a tad difficult to find at first.
Review 93:I most appreciated the airport transfer service once I learned transportation around Mykonos was abysmal. The staff was lovely, room clean and quiet, and I liked the casual/familial air of the place when the staff had their pet dog around or the day. Location was very good - 15 min walk or very short bus ride into the heart of Mykonos, and right beside the New Port marina and ferry dock.
Review 94:A simple, honest place, ideal for a stopover. The staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but very clean. The free transfers from port and to the airport are a godsend as Mykonos taxis are few and far between. Take an easy 15 minute walk into Mykonos town along a busy road or simply enjoy a drink on the terrace. Breakfast was basic but plenty of food available.
Review 95:Excellent helpful staff. Very efficient pick up and drop off from airport and ferries. Few yards from adequate small sandy beach. Handy for Mykonos town either by foot or bus (stop outside). Secure luggage storage and shower facilities after checking out so free to make best of time between checkout and airport/ferry departure.
Review 96:Ideal find for a couple of nights or an overnight stop (as we did), but maybe not for a week or more. It is a little way from Mykonos town.
Review 97:We were picked up from the port and stayed one night, then dropped at the airport for our flight home very efficiently. Unexpectedly, they provided drinks and breakfast for a small charge. Beach across the road and taverna nearby. Very friendly stopover after island hopping.
Review 98:- Nothing, everything was great
Review 99:- Staff - Cleanliness - Location - Private Beach across the road - Service too and from Ferry - Rooms and chill out area
Review 100:My stay at Pension Alexandra was different to most stays at other accomodation. I was in a scooter accident at Mykonos and the rings that Marcello and the staff at Pension Alexandra jumped through to help me and my friends during an incredibly tough time, no one would believe. When you stay here it is like making a new best friend when you meet the owner and Marcello. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Mykonos.
Review 101:The room was not value for money - there was a fridge but notea/coffee making service in the room; the tv remote didn'twork, we were offered a Mosquito repelling device but without the actualrepellent inside, which we had to buy because 'mosquitoes come in atnight...' The view from the bedroom window was a bucket of cementand a stone wall. The doors were slamming all night long as people cameand went at all hours down the hallway; the hotel is next to a motorwaywhich was noisy. This was not worth 68 euros.
Review 102:Breakfast, helpful customer service, communal seating area.
Review 103:Excellent helpful staff. Very efficient pick up and drop off from airport and ferries. Few yards from adequate small sandy beach. Handy for Mykonos town either by foot or bus (stop outside). Secure luggage storage and shower facilities after checking out so free to make best of time between checkout and airport/ferry departure.
Review 104:Comfort wasn't great but it was worth it for everything else !
Review 105:We enjoyed the value for our stay and the staff was very friendly. They also dropped us of and picked us up from the ferry&airport! Also enjoyed the air conditioning, wifi and the location.
Review 106:Even though close to town, it is a dangerous walk, any time of day, to go to old town Mykonos. The bus schedule in unreliable and getting back to the hotel at night was very difficult. For some reason, taxis wouldn't take less than a group of 4 people, and the bus wasn't running anymore. The noise from other rooms was very loud in our room.
Review 107:The staff was nice and accommodated a ride to the airport for us. The room was dark and had a mini-fridge. If you are just staying on the way to the airport/from the airport, it is a great set up.
Review 108:We really appreciated the kindness of the owner and employees. The pension is near the new port, in a calm area. The free airport transfer is really good and we also had a free ferry transfer. It is possible to walk to Mykonos centre in 15 minutes, you only need to be careful walking along the coast... quads, cars en motorcycles go fast. The rooms are very clean, have a fridge, a TV and a mosquito plug. We would go back without hesitation.
Review 109:Close to sea, port and city, clean.
Review 110:Place is nice, clean and not bad price at all
Review 111:The service (from the airport and to the harbour). The spacy & clean room. The friendly staff. The breakfast.
Review 112:We booked months in advance for 2 twin rooms and were given to double rooms. Not very good considering none of us were couples.
Review 113:Nice place
Review 114:Very friendly welcome. Clean rooms
Review 115:Everything
Review 116:Staff were wonderfully friendly and so helpful - the transfers to port and airport were a godsend! Brilliant location too.
Review 117:Expensive compared to what it offers
Review 118:Hospitality, helpful staff
Review 119:Everything was perfect.
Review 120:Good location, nice and quiet, rooms there clean and confortable. The staff was polite and kind and very helpfull.
Review 121:a lot of mosquitoes!!!! could not sleep well because of mosquitoes!!!!
Review 122:wifi is good
Review 123:Location, Value for money
Review 124:Friendly staff, great location
The Fine Print
