Reviews for Dumfries Villa

Review 1:There was nothing I didn't like. Everything was satisfactory.

Review 2:I liked the breakfasts and the comfortable bed and large room. It was very quiet and peaceful and close to the railway station.

Review 3:Nothing to pick at, but building is old and listed which restricts some improvements, but if modernised to much it would spoil the property.

Review 4:Very warm welcome from Colin, room spacious, breakfast FIRST CLASS. Short walking distance from town center and eating establishments. Excellent value for money.

Review 5:The owner of the hotel was very welcoming and offered good advice on places to eat and entertainment venues which were local and close to the hotel due to its location.

Review 6:Colin, who welcomed us, was very helpful and incredibly nice. We loved our stay in this cozy and perfectly located B&B! It's only a short walk into town and after a long day wandering around exploring the area coming home to this place is all you want. We'd definitely go there again. The breakfast is amazing!!

Review 7:this establishment is fantastic the owner goes the extra mile was friendly helpful and couldnt do enough for me i would recommend anyone stating here lovely place

Review 8:the owner was not very friendly and the en-suite was so tiny we could just fit in and we are both slim, every time you flushed the toilet it sounded like a train was traveling through the room.

Review 9:freshly cooked breakfast

Review 10:Room was downstairs next5 to entrance and dining room so heard every happening as people arrived and went.

Review 11:Good location close to town centre and good sized tidy room

Review 15:Nothing to report ....

Review 16:Comfy and quiet, nice hosts clean rooms good shower. Excellent location for town and amenities. Definitely be back if available.

Review 17:Not relevant.

Review 18:Everything was exemplary from the location (right next to train station)room, bathroom, facilities and food. Breakfast was brilliant and set me up for the day.

Review 19:Just a small thing. The light outside our room was left on all night and you could see it shining all round the door.

Review 20:The host was very helpful. The room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable. We had two chairs to sit on which is very rare. although you book a double room there is usually only chair. Breakfast was excellent. overall a very enjoyable overnight stay.

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:The friendliness and helpfulness of the owner Colin. The room with the view of the church and war memorial. The quiet location. The free wifi.

Review 23:Bed's were hard, room was small hence bed configuration meant one could not easily view tv.

Review 24:Friendly staff and close to older parts of town, good eateries

Review 25:Breakfast was minimal, with poor quality and choice. Bathroom was very noisy. Wireless did not work (despite requesting several times to the B&B owners to fix it).

Review 26:Nice corner room with view to the small garden in front of the house.

Review 27:The welcome to the place was great and he really helped us out. We were going to an event on the Saturday morning and we would have to leave before breakfast this amazing man got up early and cooked for us we were all so thankful to him would recommend this place and if tough mudder is back in this location we will be booking again thanks

Review 28:Everything was spot on, the owner met and greeted us and we were made to feel most welcome .the breakfast was freshly cooked and you had such a vast choice to select from.

Review 29:Annex room can be a bit noisy as it is near the car park and the host's living quarters.

Review 30:Good breakfast, good parking facilities, great, friendly host.

Review 31:No negatives.

Review 32:Colin was very helpful especially as we needed single occupancy. Great location, near station and the centre of Dumfries. Overall great value.

Review 33:Very comfortable guest house and friendly owner. I had a spacious single room with a separate private bathroom which I wasn't sure about when I booked but worked out very well. Good location with car parking, near the town centre and railway station. I will happily stay there again.

Review 34:Could not connect to wi if, as a mature couple we could not see small television.

Review 35:Location, food and service were excelent. Friendly atmosphere and good recommendation for evening meal

Review 36:Well located for railway station and town centre. car parking available. all rooms except one have en-suite, the remaining room has a bathroom / shower immediately beside room for which you have the key. Breakfast had a choice between a light or full breakfast for which you tick the menu and provide a time in advance so allowing the meal to be freshly cooked. Owner was helpful with directions.

Review 37:Free wifi was available, but was a bit flaky in our room (at the front of the hotel). We had 'duvet wars' in the night - could maybe have done with larger one, but otherwise bed (and bedding) was comfortable and all very clean.

Review 38:Dumfries Villa is in a very good location, reasonably close to town centre and all facilities, but far enough away to still be relatively quiet. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was good and plentiful, the room was clean and warm.

Review 39:Minor detail but the en-suite was tight for us,but we are big persons.

Review 40:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is superb. Beds extremely comfortable Lovely breakfast

Review 41:There was nothing we didn't like!!

Review 42:From the first day we met the Proprietor Colin he was nothing but a pleasure to be around. We had a mishap with our toilet, no fault of his or ours but he was straight to fix it and even offered us a different room. The decor inside is to a very good standard, and the beds as comfy as one could expect! If anyone is staying, I would definitely recommend the breakfast as it was brilliant, never had a morning breakfast like it, it definitely set us up for our day and prepared us for our meetings! If we we're to stay in Dumfries again, I would definitely make Dumfries Villa my first point of call. Just wish all our hotel stays we're a similar experience, as I could not fault it!

Review 43:The bathroom is tiny and the toilet has a noisy electric shredder and pump which also operates whenever you run the hot water. The breakfast was adequate but could do with an upgrade. The wifi reception and internet speed in the bedroom upstairs was poor.

Review 44:This B&B is very well located just a two minute walk from the train station and 10 minutes from the town centre. The room [5] was spacious and the rate was good value for single occupancy. The owner was friendly and accommodating.

Review 45:My first time staying in a B&B and it was excellent. Room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was really nice and the service was top notch. Will definitely stay again.

Review 46:nothing

Review 47:I stayed here whilst touring scotland with a friend, the owner was very polite and friendly, the room was comfortable quiet and well decorated, having a bathroom in the corridor was a bit annoying! but for the price i paid im not complaining, its a very short walk from the main town so going out for food is easy! breakfast was really nice a good selection of food to have! space to park cars too next to the B&B, a perfect location for a stop off exploring scotland!

Review 48:situation proximity to centre of town pre-arranged breakfast heating that works well wonderful shower shampoo and soap for the weary traveller

Review 49:Just on the edge of the town center so you can park your car at the house and walk to wherever you wish to go. Good hot breakfast. Great value for money.

Plenty of tea and coffee and lots of milk!!our breakfast was excellently cooked and served by a pleasant young lady. We would definitely stay there again if we were visiting the area.

Review 51:2 key holes on my room door. one yale type and the other type-gawd knows how long wiggling till nice staff member came across(just needs a bit of filler to avoid further embarrassment), nothing else really

Review 52:lots to like-closeness to railway station.guess 1-2 minutes on its main rd, very amenable and friendly management and staff, clean rooms, a superfriendly dog to play with in front garden, tasty breakfast, intend going back and this my 1st choice

Review 66:Hotel was very clean, plenty of tea, coffee and milk supplied in the room. Plenty of choice for breakfast. In a lovely area. Would definitely recommend.

Review 67:The house is right in front of a church which may play a few jingles on its bells. Might be annoying for some.

Review 68:Staff was very friendly. The landlord was very compassionate towards my girlfriend because she arrived at the hotel while being sick. He directed me to a very nice pub with a very good restaurant and good 'Real ales', as they like to describe them.

Review 69:We stayed for 2 nights and our room wasn't serviced after the first night so we had no toilet roll, bed left unmade, bins not emptied and after having coffee dirty cups were left to wash up ourselves. Not a huge problem but never had this before in a b&b

Review 80:Good location near the station but in a quiet residential street. Spacious accommodation with a nice breakfast you choose from the menu the previous evening and there are fruit and yoguart also in the buffet - a plus for Scotland. Friendly place.

Review 81:The bath towels were a bit small & only one hand towel, girls with long hair need a couple of towels each ideally! Toilet was a but noisy but bareable!
