Reviews for Caladh Inn

Review 1:The first bedroom we turned down because it was small dark and dated with the window dripping in condensation looking over a courtyard with a very noisy extractor fan. The smell of cooking in the room was overpowering. How can the owners charge high prices for such poor accommodation. The 2nd bedroom we accepted but it was only slightly better. The furnishings were dated, the tv was new and a decent size. The bathroom was new, with toiletries and good towels. The view from the bedroom was abysmal, looking out onto a central courtyard that had 4 other windows looking onto it. We had a good view of unmaintained grey walls and a large extractor vent from the kitchens. As a consequence the room was dark and we needed lights on in the day. We came to Stornoway for the scenery, not this sort of view for the price we paid. On the floor next to the bed there was an "insect trap" which was a bit concerning.

Review 2:Breakfast was buffet style and in a modern looking dining room and the food was excellent and well presented.

Review 3:One tiny window near the top of the wall - needed to stand on a chair to open. Looked out on a rendered wall close to the window and a great big sir con unit that made a hell of a noise. Felt very claustrophobic!!!!!!

Review 4:Central , clean & tidy

Review 5:The rooms are desperately in need of being refurbished. Furniture and carpets are grubby and well past there best. Bathrooms have been upgraded but bedrooms should have been done also.

Review 6:Very loud music on until midnight from a function. May as well have been at the function. Moved the bed to find a plug socket and found ecolab black boxes, which I assume are there to stop bugs or some sort of problem! Usually these have some sort of chemical which if a child got hold of could have been dangerous!

Review 7:Location was excellent.

Review 8:I didn't experience anything that I didn't like. All staff were happy to assist you. The receptions were a delight. Especially Shona, she was very friendly and couldn't do enough to help you. But she had such a warmth about her.

Review 9:Firstly the welcome on arrival. When I went on line the response was prompt. Asked if you required help with your luggage.

Review 10:Only complaint being that we had been out all day, and returned at 6pm to find our room door wedged open! Nothing missing from the room - but - - -

Review 11:The staff were all helpful and friendly. Location was ideal for our stay. Room was adequate and bathroom new(?) and clean.

Review 12:i had no complaints or concerns about this property.

Review 13:Caladh Inn is conveniently located just a short walking distance from the ferry terminal and bus station. My room and bathroom were large, clean and comfortable. A hot breakfast was included in the room rate and lunch and dinner were also available in the hotel restaurant.

Review 14:Room very old and tired. Sink cracked and dirty. Bed uncomfortable with bedding in need of renewal as was the furniture. Grossly overpriced

Review 15:Breakfast really good as were the staff

Review 16:It's a 2* hotel, be realistic. It could do with a bit of a refurb but actually, it's pretty good!

Review 17:The staff were really helpful and friendly, the hotel is a bit old and shabby around the edges but it's clean and has possibly the best water-pressure in any hotel shower anywhere. It does what it says it will do and does it well.

Review 18:Rooms very tired, meals average at best, bit expensive for what it was, noisey, not enough space to sit and read without children running around, could do with nice bar area

Review 19:Location

Review 20:Very clean hotel, our room looked as though it had been recently refurbished and was very comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and although busy still made time to have a chat.

Review 21:If you in a hurry go for the self serving part of the restaurant: Waited twice over 40min to get our plates when the place wasn't crowded... Wifi very random...

Review 22:The restaurant serves good food

Review 23:Room and especially bathroom very basic. Dinner in restaurant washorrible, although when staff asked me whether everything was ok and Iexplained why it wasn't, they had the good grace to be aghast andrefunded £10. a very basic hotel for travellers with low standards.

Review 24:Located in Stornoway.

Review 25:Bathroom needs upgrading, need to have really long arms and strong hands to operate shower controls. Had dinner in restaurant ( carvery) lt was not enjoyable. Meats were tough. When a member of staff was informed, she offered to get another slice. Don't see how it would have been any better when it would be from the same joint

Review 26:Location,staff, cleanliness comfort,

Review 27:The Caladh hotel is in a great location close to the town centre, the staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean and the room we had was quite large and comfortable, if in Stornoway again I would stay there. Carvery at the eleven restaurant is highly recommended.

Review 28:I missed not being able to use my hair straightener effectively. I used the kettle socket but there was no mirror. so I had to rely on my imagination :). perhaps an iron for ladies clothes would be a good addition.

Review 29:Staff was brilliant, friendly and helpful, room was spacious and clean, food was very nice too. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this place for stay.

Review 30:View over parking lots not great. Food and room size basic.

Review 31:Very well located for the ferry and town centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean.

Review 32:Position of hotel good for town. Can't bank on good views but we had a comfortable stay. Easy access for roads into the other destinations and for the ferry point

Review 33:King size bed would be better as with a small child it is a bit tight.

Review 34:The rooms were very well kept, new and well maintained.Very nice bathroom and good breakfast spread.Would definately recommend anyone else going there

Review 35:Bed was a little soft but I still slept well

Review 36:Staff were all helpful and friendly and manager made some local calls when my case failed to arrive from airport on a later flight so that was appreciated as bag was finally retrieved

Review 37:Horrible breakfast when I arrived later when it had been sitting for hours. Making one huge batch of everything at 7 am and leaving it till 9.30 is unforgivable. You needed a steak knife to penetrate the fried eggs.

Review 38:Nice breakfast when I arrived early enough to have it fresh. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 39:Problematic lock on bathroom door. Room and hallway doors closed very loudly. Toiletries not replenished after first night. Lack of surface in bathroom for toiletries. Early breakfast information was contradictory.

Review 40:Restaurant food was good.

Review 41:All hotel rooms are kept far to warm so opening a window means you hear very loud extractor fans. Staff running carvery did not keep up with supplies of meat/veg so had to wait for items.

Review 42:The room was newly refurbished. The hotel runs a carvery each evening with set prices. Good value for money. Good car parking. Ideal for harbour and town of Stornaway. This hotel has other outlets on the island and promotes those as well.Nice marketing

Review 43:Breakfast was OK but a coach party had cleared the site before we sat down

Review 44:The room was clean and comfortable - The receptionist was very welcoming (we arrived of the ferry at 21.00.)

Review 45:There was a coach load on our second day and quality of breakfast was not as good as previously - even coffee was poor when it had been much more flavoursome day before.smell of smoke in corridor and wardrobe

Review 46:Friendly and welcome food was good but not consistent good car very one but very disappointing the next evening

Review 47:Curtains, window frames had black mould. Bathroom door had hole punched through it. Chair had large stains on it. No shaving socket. Trouser press fell apart.Windows were filthy inside and out. At £198(2 nights) It was a disgusting experience.

Review 48:Breakfast OK Bed , OK

Review 49:Felt it was a long walk to the room via the Residents Lounge. Hotel a bit tired looking in parts.

Review 50:I loved the staff attitude, ready smiles, and nothing was a problem attitude. Best tasting bacon and blackpudding I have ever had fabby breakfast

Review 51:Only criticism no toiletries in the bathroom and some grit in the running water. The hotel doesn't looking very interesting from the exterior but extremely comfortable and fantastic service.

Review 52:I loved the roomy beds and spacious bedroom and bathroom. Tv was fine and customer service excellent - A wake up call and assitance with cases wonderful as well as help with boarding cards and computers. The wifi was handy and worked well. Breakfast fine and fresh produce.

Review 53:Room very small. Hotel advised our visit part of 8 week trip from New Zealand and we would have 2 large suitcases. Only just enough space to put one down. I had to put mine in wardrobe and then the doors wouldn't shut. Could have done without the round table for the brochure. Small window looked out into internal quad. Side reception door locked, struggled with large suitcase through small revolving doors. Walls very thin, swinging doors in corridor quite noisy. We got locked in our room at one point and had to ring reception to let us out. Just as well not a fire. Maintenance fixed it whilst we were out. Bottom sheet on bed only just made it to end of mattress, and duvet only same width as bed (more or less), so when two people get in it doesn't actually make it to the sides. Invest in new bed linen.

Review 54:Beautiful bathroom Restaurant absolutely superb. Had to wait over an hour one evening without a booking, but young waiter certainly made up for it in his personality (male, petite, glasses)

Review 55:Did not like where my room was, looked out on to where the staff have smoke Breaks very noisey at times and it also looked in to a wall

Review 56:Loved the food restaurant

Review 57:Drunk people in the hotel on their way to their room; very very noisy, slamming many doors. Those people came from a party in the hotel and I don"t understand that the staff did nothing against it.
