Reviews for Cabarfeidh Hotel
Review 1:Internet provision extremely poor. Stated as free wifi but system only worked very slowly in evening and then not at all all night and morning. Cooked breakfast dry and overlooked.
Review 2:Helpful staff
Review 3:The buffet breakfast was cold, however the staff provided a freshly cooked breakfast but this was swimming in grease, not at all pleasant, we did not have the cooked breakfast again, but did enjoy the poached eggs.
Review 4:Everything except the breakfast
Review 5:the fact that the wifi only seems to work on the 2nd floor at the other end to where we were placed in room 25. Also as the shower tray flooded the bathroom due to a build up of past guests hair which had clearly not been cleaned for some time, and that there was no other room to move to late at night ..we did not get much sleep on the only night we were there before an early morning flight. ...which was the very reason we were there in the first place for...i.e. to get a good sleep before we flew.
Review 6:Hot buffet not repleneshed. Dried up scrambled egg. Food lukewarm. No hot plates, no glasses for juice
Review 7:Ambient atmosphere, cleanliness, comfortable and bright room.
Review 8:I found getting in and out of the bath for a shower quite difficult bordering on being dangerous. My long term artificial hip has little strength so could not clamber into and out of the high placed, and sided, bath without help. Surprised disability legislation does not require better access.
Review 9:Unfortunately, as we were essentially B & B residents we did not have the opportunity to make use of other facilities. Did have tea in your lounge on arrival; it was nothing special! Very happy with the room & beds; didn't try the TV! Was too tired to be disturbed by Fan outside window which went on all night.
Review 10:It was a bit shabby outside ( letters missing from hotel name etc ) . Thought that the dining menu was over priced (£34 for two courses and a drink ).
Review 11:Friendly enough staff and clean property throughout.
Review 12:yes not all parts of hotel are new i would say 10 years out of date and of course need updating but found to be very clean ( could have been a lot worse ) and if return to the island would book again .
Review 13:Staff willing to help understand with all requests 10 out of 10 for customer service . only stayed 1 night but had 2 saturday and sun eve meal great food & value .
Review 14:Over charged for the meal I had in the dining room. Toilette didn't work well. Key to room didn't work.
Review 15:Easy parking. Comfortable bed and nice complimentary toiletries. Good breakfast. Lovely fire place in the lobby.
Review 16:Small room located at end of a long corridor, was cold and musty on arrival ...during the night, I was unable leave the window open because of the excessive noise from ventilation plant..expected more considering the room rate.
Review 17:Room was clean, breakfast was satisfactory.
Review 18:The decor looked like it had not been renewed since the 1980's. Avocado colored baths with gilded hardware were in fashion when Abigail had her party. This was probably when the hotel was built. The faded gilding on the hardware revealing the brass below is a metaphor for this hotel. It needs a major refit to bring it up to date. The wi-Fi is a bit hit and miss at best.
Review 19:Food, which was of excellent quality and generous portions. The staff who were attentive, helpful and friendly. The location which allowed for a good brisk walk to the town centre via the golf course, Lews Castle grounds and the harbour.
Review 20:Room we had was clean and comfortable but could do with a bit of updating, especially the bathroom. This would not stop us returning.
Review 21:Location to town centre within an easy walk. Good food, nice helpfully staff. Been here before that's why we came back.

Review 64:Over crowding and extremely poor service
Review 65:The furniture in the lobby, bar etc. was rather worn.
Review 66:Very friendly staff, helpful.
Review 67:nothing, but it wasn't as close to the town center as we wanted
Review 68:Very helpful front desk staff
Review 69:The front entrance is drab and uninviting. The dining room menus shold be much more up market in presentation and feel.
Review 70:The food was brilliant
Review 71:Poor standard of service, long waiting time for meals. Kept waiting for half an hour for a table at breakfast. Location on the edge of town. Mould on ceiling of en-suite, cracked & ill-fitting bath panel.
Review 72:Comfortable room. Pleasant seating area in lobby. Food was good but pricey.
Review 73:Staff at breakfast could have been more friendly. Hotel looks like a bunker from outside.
Review 74:Staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. Hotel has in general a good standard for the UK and has been refurbished.
Review 75:There was a poorly fitting mattress protector on one of the single beds under which the mattress was stained. The room was at the rear of the building and we were woken several times until after two in the morning by staff empying glass bottles from the function bar into a bin under our window.
Review 76:The food was excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous. The standard of facilities was generally good.
Review 77:Room was cold. They have me a portable heater, but it started smelling "hot" like a wire was burning, so I didn't use it.
Review 78:Food was excellent. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable.
Review 79:No complaints. Does anybody really still use trouser presses? I think they make the room look a bit dated.
Review 80:friendly. Bar had a lot of atmosphere for a hotel bar.
Review 81:Coach groups every evening seemed to take priority over evening meals
Review 82:Good position for visiting Lewis and Harris. Comfortable and everything that we needed. Staff kind and helpful'
Review 83:The whole hotel could do with a bit of an upgrade. The rooms were old fashioned and needed a bit of TLC. Pillows were uncomfortable, bed linen had holes in it.Bathrooms were grotty, black mould around bath. Could do with air con, was very hot for our 7month old baby. I feel the rooms are very over prices and probably not 4 star hotel.
Review 84:Staff were brilliant. Very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Food was also lovely.
Review 85:Had a problem with hot water for the shower, fine one night but not the next.
Review 86:Good modern hotel close to all amenities. Staff and facilities good. Breakfast was superb.
Review 87:Cocktail bar did not open until 1800h, and even then we sat for over an hour waiting to be served, before we gave up, and went to our room, we went out on the town the 2nd night.
Review 88:Food and overall hotel experience exellent.
Review 89:Kettle had mould around the element which was colouring the water so couldn't make tea. No extra blanket or duvet in room....room was cold (but it was a very cold night!). I'm sure that the staff could have resolved all of these issues if I'd raised it with them but I didn't need the hassle.
Review 90:Very clean hotel, great staff, nice bed and good facilities. Good value for money. Would recommend the hotel to colleagues and family.
Review 91:Modern, refurbished room, comfortable bed. Reception area was pleasant. Good breakfast options. Friendly, welcoming staff. Wi-Fi throughout the building.
Review 92:Bathroom was a bit of a let down this time; it needed a good clean - toomuch fluff and evidence of previous occupants.
Review 93:Another very pleasant trip. Excellent service from arrival to check out.The chef's ham hock and guinea fowl terrine, which I had not tastedbefore, was truely excellent.
