Reviews for The Old Manse Hotel
Review 1:Welcome from Valerie and flexibility of arrival time excellent Location really good So hospitable, we will definitely recommend to friends and family, and hope to stay again
Review 2:Shower could do with an upgrade but didn't spoil our stay
Review 3:Valerie made us very welcome and all staff couldn't do enough for us and doggies. Breakfast lovely and plentiful, set us up for the day. Valerie lit the fire for us on New Year's Day and this was the icing on the cake, fab, would go back
Review 4:The shower was a little tired - doors did not shut properly - otherwise excellent.
Review 5:Very convenient location for events in Pickering. Superb breakfast and a very helpful and friendly landlady. Good service and supplies in the bedroom
Review 6:Staff helpful food ok room comfy but not I would call overly clean show was pitiful in strength could have done with a step down from the patio to the parking area
Review 7:There was no bad experience at all,the only adverse comment I would make is that I considered the price of the evening meal at £28 each without wine somewhat high, although there was no faulting the choice and quality.
Review 8:Practically everything,we would certainly stay there again if back in the area.Very nice, welcoming people, and a breakfast "to die for".
Review 9:very hot even with radiators turned off, sash window on ground floor so no security if open. Shower cubicle grouting black
Review 10:excellent breakfast, friendly owner but staff did not give full information on arrival. Room comfortable, very big accessible bathroom
Review 11:I feel that the price was a little high and in the bathroom the shower door was broken and the toilet seat slipped. There was not much sound insulation so you could hear people outside the door
Review 12:The bed was very comfy and the breakfast was excellent. The location was good, fairly close to the middle of town but quite quiet
Review 13:The shower head we had to clean before use, the hose connecting to the shower head was covered in black mould, like the head itself. One of the other cubicles was also very mouldy. We did report this to the proprietor before departure. Drink prices were extortionate, we went out to the local pub, but would have stayed at the hotel if prices had been more reasonable.
Review 14:Excellent food, good clean rooms and room facilities. The staff were friendly and well trained, and obligeing. The proprietor herself took a lot of care with the dietary needs of myself.
Review 15:The shower . Bathroom was to small and had sliding doors you can see through if one is on the loo.
Review 16:The breakfast was lovely. The area was lovely. The staff were nice and friendly
Review 17:Only bad experience we had was having to leave to go home!
Review 18:We were overwhelmed by the welcome and kindness given to us by Val and her staff. The breakfasts were out of this world. Our room was comfortable - two armchairs in a room is a real treat these days.
Review 19:I prefer a harder bed but that`s a personal preference. Shower a bit of a squeeze but managed ok
Review 20:Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice Staff very helpful and pleasant
Review 21:Nothing in the hotel could be faulted.
Review 22:The hotel is conveniently sited close to town in a quiet location.Private parking is adequate, and the gardens at the back of the house are very pleasant.Decor in the bedrooms, lounge and elsewhere is bright, restful and up-to -date.Staff are welcoming and helpful.Breakfast was excellent, particularly the fresh fruit and yoghurts;choice was very good, you could choose kippers or smoked fish instead of full English.Cleanliness of the hotel was first-class.
Review 23:A bit noisy when people were getting up, doors banging etc but that's down to inconsiderate guests rather than the proprietors.
Review 24:Welcoming and friendly.
Review 25:This is not really a hotel, more a very good B&B. The cost of the single room was a bit steep for the facilities on offer.
Review 26:The people were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 27:When you arrive you are met by friendly welcoming staff. No fuss check in or check out.Stayed in the garden room which was perfect for our visit and the Breakfast was very good.
Review 28:The shower in our room was very poor. There was no water pressure and so it was not a refreshing shower.
Review 29:The owner and the staff of the B&B were execellent and made us, including our 3 dogs, very welcome. The breakfast was brillinat and set you up for the day. The room was very comfortbale and we enjoyed our stay.
Review 30:Unfortunately I phoned the Hotel on the Saturday the day of arrival at 12:05 hrs to let them know we would be arriving around 19:30hrs. At 16:00 hrs a messgage was left on my answer phone that they had no room for us and that they had moved us to the Beansheaf Hotel ( 2-3 miles) out of Pickering but could move to them on the Sunday which we did. They did compensate us well but had picked this hotel to actually be in Pickering as we were meeting friends. The Beansheaf Hotel was excellent on how they treated us due to the other Hotels mishap and the Staff were superb couldn't do enough to help us.
Review 31:After our booking mishap, They compensated us very well giving us a free evening meal with all the trimmings and reimbursed us the Taxi fare to and from the other hotel they moved us to getting us back into Pickering. Excellent location
Review 32:Handy for the shops, restaurants and bars around the centre of Pikering. Also only a short walk to the railway station where the old steam trains run from.
Review 33:Leaving to come home,we really enjoyed our stay.
Review 34:Found atmoshere of hotel welcoming and freindly .All staff efficient and very helpful .The menu for breakfast and dinner had very good choices. I found the standard of the food served excellent .The room we had was spacious and warm with comfortable bed
Review 35:Shower would be better being a power shower, but to be honest, we managed. Nothing to complain about.
Review 36:everything was lovely and clean, friendly service...with it being Valentines day when we stayed over, I received a beautiful bunch of Roses : ) fantastic views over Pickering and a short walk t the town.
Review 37:Shower head needed cleaning. Room dusty No mat on inside of door when coming in from the outside to wipe feet. Two single beds pushed together to make a double bed.
Review 38:Large selection of Breakfast even though we were the only people there. Friendliness of the owner. Private garden room. Little extras - buscuits
Review 39:Not the most obvious of places to find. "On the left as you drive down the road going away from the town centre, approx 15 yards before the big school on the right" makes it so much easier.
Review 40:The cup of tea / coffee on arrival and the breakfast which was so obviously cooked to order with true home made muesli & fruit salad. Easy walking distance from the town centre.
