Reviews for Abbaye des Capucins Spa & Resort
Review 1:There used to be a Michelin starred restaurant here. We were sorry to see it was no longer there.
Review 2:A good smart spa. The food in the brasserie was excellent
Review 3:Beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Position of hotel very good and parking excellent. Also very good food and comfortable bar area.
Review 4:Terrible and over priced morning coffee in the breakfast room. We could have had some free of charge in the sitting room, but were told to go to the breakfast room. €15 for 3 undrinkable cappuccino.
Review 5:There were no facilities for making tea and/or coffee in our room
Review 6:Proximity to the old city. The spaciousness of the hotel, covered parking and welcome from staff. Good breakfast
Review 7:The ramp into the car park is very steep and scraped the bottom of the car when entering. Should have a warning as there is an alternative entrance that is not obvious.
Review 8:Very comfortable hotel, friendly staff and a good restaurant.
Review 9:Very friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent but we didn't eat in the restaurant. The hotel is situated in a good location within easy walking distance of the centre of Montauban. The pool whilst not huge is very pleasant.
Review 10:This is really not a 4 star hotel. The staff are indifferent to hospitality. Everything was shut - including the hotel bar and no room service. The spa had the smallest hotel swimming pool I've seen!
Review 11:This was definitely not a 4 star hotel and not a spa! The swimming pool was tiny and as it was Monday everything, including the bar and room service, was shut
Review 12:bar was closed due to no staff. Run on skeleton staff that were clearly very busy and quite stressed - or at least I hope they were otherwise they are quite rude!
Review 13:Very well appointed hotel/spa
Review 14:The hotel was mainly concentrated on weddings the day we were there. So the bar was closed and dinner wasn't available until 9.30pm - not what we wanted to hear after a long day's travelling.
Review 15:Nice building. Comfortable room. Dinner was good.
Review 16:The corridors to the bedrooms were extremely long and had automatic spotlighting. This meant that you had to walk down dark corridors which didn't light up until you were already there. It is worth noting that the town seemed quite unfriendly when we went for an early evening walk. My 14 year old son and I felt uncomfortable with the groups of men hanging around on street corners. I am sure that if I had my husband travelling with me I would have felt fine but I would not recommend this location for solo women travellers.
Review 17:We had both dinner and lunch the following day in the bistro and the food was fantastic. The service was very good.
Review 18:Air conditioning was too strong, blew directly on to the bed. The 3 English language TV channels needed a password do we could not view those channels - not helpful!
Review 19:Good position
Review 20:Noisy neighbours, expensive food and drink in a town which had nothing of note to offer.
Review 21:Interesting building and decor. Reasonable if pricey food and drink.
Review 22:The staff in the restaurant was impatient and not friendly. The receptiondesk promised that the airco would be switched on, which never happened. The wok-dinner was more a stew than a wok.
Review 23:The historica building
Review 24:The towels were a bit tired and there was a bit of a lack of natural light in the room we had as a tree close to the window tended to darken things.
Review 25:Proximity to the railway station amd town was great. The staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable and quiet. Bar area and courtyard were perfect for a relaxed drink.
Review 26:Eating arrangements at the bistro were not good as we sat in a corridor, the food was disappointing and staffing levels were too low.
Review 27:Location and room quality good.
Review 28:there is no free entry for residents to the spa, even access to sauna and hammam has to be paid the staff in the bistro could do better and serve their guests with a smile, the food and drinks are not for free, a smile is
Review 29:Shower cubicle useless and dangerous due to slippery flooring and inward opening door.. Water poured out through badly fitted glass door. Spent time mopping floor. Pillows hard and uncomfortable. The prestige room was overpriced and overlooked. Tiny pool.
Review 30:The location. Secure parking. Good sized room. Menu limited but OK.
Review 31:Rooms are a bit dark. Adding a few more lighting would be great. Even if solo traveller they shd put at least two sets of towels. The breakfast could include more choice of warm items. There was only scrambbled eggs and some sort of ham.
Review 32:The garden is charming and room is very cimfortable.
Review 33:Was so disappointed with the swimming pool as it was small, narrow and nothing like the picture. The spa also was very basic and the sauna not working. Didn't like the service in the Bistro or the food
Review 34:If you have children it is not a hotel for them it's more for a couple or a group for spa I left early which was a shame as it was put down as a family hotel
Review 35:The room was big enough
Review 36:Service at Bistro was not up the standard and price you would expect. Via Booking we made reservation for a particular room. Unfortunately the room was not available? Strange! Reservation was made via app and we arrived after half an hour.
Review 37:Breakfast was good and rooms were quite high standard.
Review 38:Breakfast cost - €18 & €22 Bistro - service slow & portions too big though at least the waiter did warn us of this!
Review 39:Elegant surroundings Nice modern room & facilities Free wifi Friendly, efficient staff Adequate parking Air-con Quiet location
Review 40:Very comfortable with friendly staff and very good facilities.
Review 41:Shockingly slow device, awful meal, bathroom loo in cupboard
Review 42:Location, parking
Review 43:breakfast a little pricey for what it was
Review 44:lovely hotel and facility, luxurious with pool and outside restaurant. Wifi good, lots of parking on site.
Review 45:Lovely hotel with beautiful features. Excellent meal in the restaurant.
Review 46:The location, facilities and general ambience were excellent. A very good and plentiful breakfast set you up for the day!
Review 47:Great ambiance
Review 48:The spa and the quietness
Review 49:A luttle dar away from the center
Review 50:Beautiful spa
Review 51:Our room was described as overlooking the River Tarn - it overlooked a flat roof so we felt that was a little misleading in the description.
Review 52:Wifi only in the public areas.
Review 53:The location was ideal for walking to the historical center and the Ingres museum.
Review 54:Pillow a little hard. Only pool available appears to be outdoors.
Review 55:Friendly staff, impressive building.
Review 56:No complaints
Review 57:Helpful staff and lovely clean hotel.
Review 58:overall place, environment, facilities, food
Review 59:Peaceful location
Review 60:The restaurnt with its´serving people were in our opinion very bad !
Review 61:Hotell and the room
Review 62:Bistro service (unfriendly and impatient with people who are not fluent in french)
Review 63:Spa, spacious rooms
Review 64:Nice hotel with good facilities. Lots of free parking and only a short walk to the centre. Had some great food at the Bistro.
Review 65:Day staff in Restaurant a bit miserable. Evening Staff better. Nicer of two restaurants closed by management without any warning.
Review 66:Nice sized Room
Review 67:Lack of tea/coffee making facility in room.
Review 68:Beautiful hotel with no expense spared in old abbey, with Michelin star restaurant and swimming pool.
Review 69:Restaurant Manager who has a very inflated impression of himself webooked for 8 only to be told he had no booking , spent 5mins thinkingabout before he seated us in a less than quater full room'Pompose mois'
Review 70:Easy to find
Review 71:The Hotels Bistro waitress! She upset our dining experience on 2 nights of our 3 night stay so much that we looked elsewhere in the town on our 3rd night and had great service and an enjoyable night out. It was a great shame that she upset what should have been a lovely stay at an otherwise superb hotel.
Review 72:Location - car park - hotel building- outside areas - reception staff - chamber maids - quality of room booked - Hotel's Management
Review 73:The hotel keeping could be slightly more accurate.
Review 74:The atmosphere of the ancient convent and the historic premises in their whole. The free parking right in the property walls and in front of the entrance. The kindness of the staff at the Reception Desk.
Review 75:I had a meal in the Bistro with my wife and two fellow travellers.I had escargot to start and a steak tartare as a main course. The next morning shortly after leaving the hotel I had awful diarrhoea which lasted for about FIVE hours!!! Needless to say I will never be returning to this hotel again!!!!!
Review 76:The rooms were well appointed and clean
Review 77:The hotel is luxuriously furnished, with effective air conditioning and sound proofing. It is located about a 5 min walk from the centre of the old town and about 10 mins walk from the station. We booked for one night and decided on arrival to extend our stay to 5 nights.
Review 78:We were not given English menues even when asking for it, but the last day it turned out they had menues in English. The staff had limitied or non English speaking skills. The room was dusty, and the floors appeared not cleaned. No kids tv channels.
Review 79:The food was excellent, and the building had some very nice features. The spa staff were very courteous and helpful.
Review 80:Service in bistro below par. Very slow (half hour before we could order drinks) and especially manager was uninterested and rather unfriendly.
Review 81:Nice building, sound proofed rooms. Very friendly staff at front desk
Review 82:Bistro staff could have been more friendly. Menu could be more extensive with a few more cheaper options.
Review 83:Excellent rooms: quiet, fab beds, great bathroom, luxury fittings. Great location.
Review 84:We chose the hotel because it had wifi but this did not work throughout the entire stay. Neither did the internet cable access. When we complained about this the only response we got was "Normally, it works".
Review 85:Rooms are well appointed and large. Bathrooms are nice. Hotel is nicely decorated with interesting art in an old conversion from a former Abbey. Michelin-starred restaurant was very good.
Review 86:The service, very disappointing. The only thing we were told when we checked in was our room number & the way to the lift. Our friends had booked a table for 19.30, our order was taken at 19.50 but we didn't get our main meal till 20.50 & didn't have time for a coffee because we had to be at a music night for 21.30 also we were unable to drain the sink which we reported at 19.30 but was still the same on the following morning when we checked out. I did put in a complaint form & asked about a discount. They said I would receive a email from the manager, it is now the 16th & I have still not received an answer from them.
Review 87:It was close to city centre.
Review 88:The atmosphere at abbaye des capuchins is very relaxing and the food in either of the restaurants has always been wonderful. Service has always been good and I look forward to going back
Review 89:We had a prestige room, but curtain rail broken, curtain would not open. No coffee or milk, just herbal tea.Badly fitting shower doors, water poured onto bathroom floor. Very slow service in the Bistro restaurant.
Review 90:Location, spa and pool.
Review 91:Disappointed with cleanliness of out door pool. Would have used it if there had been less garden debris in it.
Review 92:Secure parking. Comfortable bed. Tea/Coffee facilities in room.
Review 93:Although we realise that we checked-in before 3pm, our room was not ready until almost 3.30pm - even though the check-out is 12 midday. The housekeeping was eccentric. We had put a 'do not disturb' notice on the outside of our door while we went to breakfast and this was not adhered to. There were not enough products in the bathroom and we had to ask for soap and bath foam; even though I requested tissues because the box was empty for two days, these were not replaced. The cleaner smelled badly of body odour too. Not very nice. We felt that the menu choices in the Brasserrie were limited and could have been changed more often.
Review 94:Beautiful design; good artwork; excellent breakfast; good spa; comfortable bedroom. The pool area was good and the receptionist in the spa excellent. Very good food portions. The wines were excellent.
Review 95:Small list - the mini-bar is an even bigger rip-off than normal.
Review 96:We arrived at 9:30 in the morning and they were happy to give us theroom early. The room was spotless and large. The reception staff wereextreemly helpfull and stored our bags after checkout. The location is 5minutes walk from the centre of town.
Review 97:no indoor pool
Review 98:There was everything you could want for a relaxing one or more nights. Great up- dated building, surroundings were lovely by the river, fantastic food and great service, definately will go back
Review 99:The heating system is controled for the complete hotel and it is notpossible to reduce the temperature in the room during winter time => wehad up to 24° in the room during the night. The room is very small andnot well isolated (it is easy to ear the tv of the neighbor room...),the furniture are old. The prices of the room/breakfast and restaurantare too high and not justified. Finally, 4* are not justified.
Review 100:Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice historical building.
Review 101:Rooms : beds are only 160 cm wide ( typical French ) and the duvet wassynthetic .The Leffe beer was served in a Heineken glass , that is unacceptable at this level !!! Sorry , on gets his b...s chopped for something like that in Belgium !
Review 102:There are not many hotels in Montauban and this is just very welcome .The interior is very nice and spacious . The bar is cosy and the staff is very nice . The gastronomic restaurant was top , way up there . The menu in the bar also looked very nice .
Review 103:The room was an upgrade as we wanted a balcony. the offices overlooked us and the view was an alleyway and the top of another part of the hotel. it was to much a conference centre. there were conference candidates walking along the corridors to get to meeting rooms. it was not conducive to rest. The restaurant staff were not friendly and rather aloof and arrogant. i was told that i did not know the correct way to order a steak when i was presented with an over cooked one for example.
Review 104:It was situated very close to the main roads. the food in the Bistro was very good. it was warm weather and so the Cloisters was a lovely place to eat outdoors.
Review 105:a bit pricey.....but great facilities.
Review 106:Great near downtown location (walking distance to city centre), neat old buildings recently remodeled with modern conveniences. Lots of free parking.
Review 107:The room was advertised as having a balcony overlooking the river. Theriver could not be seen and the balcony, which was not clean and hadrusty railings, overlooked a busy road. The staff in the restaurant andbistro were too quick to charge items to the room without presenting abill/account for checking/signature and on checking out the details werenot available, just the amount. The prices in the bar/bistro wereextremely high for what was on offer. The hotel advertised "stay twonights and pay for one!" In its brochure and I discovered this afterpaying for 2 nights in advance. Booking com took up the case with themanagement (Mr Portet) and he advised he would credit my Credit cardaccount with Euro 142. Confirmed by Booking.com on 23 August. Thiscredit has yet to be received.
Review 108:The hotel was well situated close to the town centre, easily found, withgood car parking. The staff were all knowledegable and well manneredpresenting a good image. The bedroom was a good size with a largecomfortable bed and was well away from any internal hotel noise.
Review 109:The lack of smoking rooms. Cigarette buts are all over the roof belowthe room windows, why do hoteliers frustrate smoking guests?
Review 110:The surprisingly luxurious and spacious room at a very affordable price.Excellent bathroom with luxurious amenities. Dining on the terrace ofthe Bistrot was a most pleasant experience, top quality food atreasonable prices, and friendly service. More than sufficient on-property free parking space.
Review 111:Room was not ready when we arrived at 4.30pm, we were asked to wait a quarter of an hour but were not given key to room despite being shown where it was and leaving case there while it was being cleaned. After half an hour at the bar, they could not find us on the billing system to charge the drinks. When we returned to reception, only member of staff was dealing with someone else and took them to their room before coming back to give us key, another 10 minutes wait. When we got to room, safe was not working so we phoned reception who said they would send someone. No one came before we left next day at 11 am. Tried to have breakfast at the hotel but there was no table for two in the breakfast room at 9.30am. We were offered a table outside but they were not laid for breakfast and you would have had to go back and fore through two sets of doors to get to the buffet which appeared to be very low on stock. We declined and went in to the town to a tea room.
Review 112:Rooms were beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Good location for walk into Montauban.
Review 113:The breakfast is not included and cost 15 europs pp (children are free) Great if you are on business and can expense it .. not when you can purchase a coffer and croissant for 5 euros 5 minutes away. Pool is tiny and more for just a dip.. not a length pool. In the middle of August it was perfect.
Review 114:The service is excellent. The location is excellent. We walked to the main "downtown" area (pedestrian friendly). This was a transitional stop so we just stayed for 1 night. Parking is included (nice option) Breakfast is not 30 euros (15 pp) Costly for a family of 4. We were unable to use the spa (not enough time) but looked amazing. Must be 16 year to use hot tub (our kids were not impressed 11 and 9 yrs old) The pool is tiny.. just mainly too cool off, but lovely none the less. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 115:The Hotel seemed geared to business people , we had to unload and carryour own luggage , no Porter . Our air conditioning began to leak and wewere required to move rooms and again did so without assistance . Onpaying the bill my card was placed in the terminal before I hadactually been shown the bill and I was unable to question this becausethe Receptionist had taken a phone call and by the time this wasresolved the transaction "timed out" and my card was then declined. Wewere on a touring holiday and Montauban was a 2 day stopover , which wenow regret.
Review 117:Comfortable room - facilities adequate. Spa treatment was wonderful - separate bill from hotel. Breakfast on your terrace "overlooking the river" was a myth - terrace overlooked a canvas roofing the river was not visable. But the breakfast was good - although both mornings the order was not as ordered, but enjoyable. Wifi was available in the lobby area and there was a computer available for guests use.
Review 118:Unfortunately, one of the rooms we had booked Room 210 had a "drainproblem" and although we could not be moved as hotel full we were givena complimentary breakfast for 4, which was a saving of 60 euros.
Review 119:Quiet, relaxed atmosphere steeped in history. Excellent food, althoughexpensive. Staff friendly and efficient.
Review 120:No negative comments at all really excellent hotel. Maybe tea/coffeemaking facilities in the rooms would be a nice touch.
Review 121:Excellent hotel with a friendly welcoming staff
Review 122:Friendliness and efficiency of staff, spaciousness of rooms, modern bathroom. Very convenient, if you need a good hotel to start your barging trip in Montauban. Service in the bistro on the Sunday evening was also good. Breakfast was also good.
Review 123:Only glasses of wine available on room service menu - no bottles! Gym (in spa) opened late at 0900. Most people like to exercise early and get it over with for the day. Gym being in basement was too hot!
Review 124:The dsign of the ramp on the car park meant that my car "grounded" atthe top. You should get this fixed as it will cause damage
Review 125:Friendly helpful staff. Good food. This was our second visit, so we werevery happy to come back
Review 126:The whole experience was exceptional. An oasis in hospitality. Excelentservice, friendly and the food, fresh, imaginative and delicious. Ihighly recommend
The Fine Print
