Reviews for Hotel Hatfield
Review 1:nothing!
Review 2:the staff could not have been more helpful nothing was too much trouble from the moment we arrived they were friendly and informative we will definitely recommend and if possible will stay again, and I forgot to mention the breakfast so much choice and cooked to perfection many thanks.
Review 3:It was too hot in the room and was not told they would be holding Christmas parties on the night as it was loud till late and also hard to get a drink at the bar
Review 4:The breakfast was lovely and morning staff was friendly
Review 5:Poorly designed taps/wash basin in our room. Small thing but you expect water to go into sink not run around back of sink. Cannot wash hands under tap without mess. Longer taps needed!
Review 6:Second time visit, again very friendly hotel and bar staff. Own car park reassuring. Linen vastly improved since last visit and no problems experienced getting hot water.
Review 7:Night time staff were very rude and drunk and not helpful at all big shame really as they upset me and my friends on my 30th birthday
Review 8:Day time staff were lovely and very helpful indeed
Review 9:Dinner menu (after 7PM) expensive and not really suitable options for fussy children. If some of the daytime menu choices were available it would not have been a problem. So had to eat out. when we didn't want too. At breakfast on the first day tea & coffee was on the table but on the 2nd day it was refilled a cup at a time by the sever which was inconvenient. However none of these things spoiled our stay at this nice hotel.
Review 10:Excellent location. Good accomodation, friendly staff and well stocked bar. Nice full English breakfast. Good menu for dining before 5PM
Review 11:We were told hotel was disabled friendly with lift to all floors when we left lift we had to go down stairs-upstairs-upstairs and then dow 11 stairs to reach our room. we think that you should specify that only some rooms are disabled friendly and acsesible by lift
Review 12:one double room was the size single. I do not recommend more than two nights, unless someone likes to lie two days in bed, or out of the hotel
Review 13:hotel close to the beach, a large bar, nice staff
Review 14:Waiting to book in asked for early check in didn't get room until 1500hrs. Waiting time for evening meal. My partner is gluten and dairy intolerant so asked food with no dairy. Meal arrived with crushed pots in loads of butter.
Review 15:Helpful staff clean room albeit a bit dated.
Review 16:Not helpful at the carvery. All meat and veg was dried up this was at 5.10 pm we told the chef this and that we would order something else. He just said I understand. 10 Minutes later he brought out all fresh meat and veg. If he had said to us at the time please take a seat and I will replace everything then we would have waited. Very poor service. Also the suit we where in was a lovely size room and was comfortable but needed updated. The only problem was the toilet packed up during the night. The next morning my husband ordered haddock and eggs for breakfast to be told there was no haddock or kippers. We then ordered a full English which was very nice.
Review 17:Staff on the front desk very nice. Lady explained there would be noise from the music on a Friday night would we like to have a room upstairs which was kind of her to ask. Staff waiting on the tables in the restaurant were very nice as well.
Review 18:Absolute zero hot water for the duration of our stay ! Left the shower running for a while to see if it would warm up but then got turfed out of our room as the water was leaking into the room below.Moved us to another room (upgrade to sea view room) but yet again nice bathroom but no hot water.
Review 19:The location was ideal and perfect for a walk along the front.
Review 20:The room whilst comfortable and I slept well, seemed a bit old-fashioned.
Review 21:The staff were so helpful and friendly, the food and drink were not only good but reasonably priced.
Review 22:Breakfast experience very poor. There were only two occupied tables in the restaurant the waitress asked if we wanted tea or coffee and filled our cups. She brought our cooked breakfast. and did not come back to ask if everything was ok or if we wanted more coffee or tea and we were not asked if we wanted toast. We then walked past reception where she was eating home made biscuits and talking to the receptionist.
Review 23:Very good location
Review 24:The suite was a bit 'tired' but very comfortable. Unfortunately, there was a wedding reception and although the staff tried their hardest to control the children in the wedding party it was impossible. Their bad behaviour really had an impact on our evening. A great shame.
Review 25:Location, staff, food and for 4 older ladies all able to stay in one room, great value.
Review 26:Hotel was clean and tidy, but went to have a bath and found a dirty tide mark around bath not nice
Review 27:Liked it all nice big place lovely food, would stay again
Review 28:No side plates for toast at breakfast and the girl didn't seem to know what a side plate was. Dried up veg from carvery served with evening meal. Food disappointing. Expected more from a 3* hotel at £95 per night BB. Wouldn't stay here again.
Review 29:Good location. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 30:Our room was spotless but other areas of the hotel are less so. Also some staff treat you a little like an inconvenience and seem uninterested in the fact that you've paid a lot of money and uninterested in doing a good job. With a little more interest and diligence this hotel could be great but is falling short.
Review 31:The view from the sea rooms is really worth it. The bar area and terrace are brilliant. Some staff are very friendly and courteous and hold the service together well.
Review 32:Had to wait for some one to come to serve on reception checking in and out Room very dated items broken in room Curtains ripped not great for the money
Review 33:Bar staff very good
Review 34:This visit the bed was very lumpy and room 217 was above kitchen and cooking smell in room was very strong - poor nights sleep and unpleasant smell!
Review 35:The staff are friendly location is excellent have spent several nights here in the past very happily
Review 36:We had to book and pay for a suite to get a comfortable bed and shower!
Review 37:The room had a king size bed, all the others we stayed in previously had 4'6" bed. The shower was a glass cubicle not a plastic sheet that sticks to your body every time you move in the shower as in previous stays.
Review 38:Two people in our party had hardly any water, so were unable to shower and wash hair. My room had a leaky tap which dripped constantly.
Review 39:Executive Suite was lovely. All staff were so friendly and helpful (especially one lovely waitress who served us as a group for a friends surprise birthday - and was also there for breakfast the following morning, checking we'd all had a lovely time and that our friend enjoyed her birthday).
Review 40:The staff were friendly and helpful, we had a problem with the water pressure and the shower did not work but I notified the receptionist and she got us moved to another room and adjusted the bill accordingly.Would definitely stay again.
Review 41:Shower very poor, cold, and no pressure room 204. Offered another room to shower in 214 which was warmer but still no pressure. Spoke to manager who was friendly and offered £20 off room price but would not stay again until shower facilities were much improved
Review 42:Lovely location, sea view but from small window
Review 43:The rooms are small and not very clean. There was not hot water to have a shower.
Review 44:The bar, restaurant have all been modernised and are very clean. The staff are excellent
Review 45:The standard of comfort of the bed in our room was very poor resulting in both my husband and I ending up with considerable back and shoulder pains and stiffness. The curtains were extremely difficult to draw and in some places had become detached from the curtain rail.
Review 46:The location is excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the food was very good.
Review 47:Lack of supervision of the young staff. The feeling that day to day operation of the hotel was designed to make life easy for the staff. and not based around good customer service. For example Asked the lad bartender for a menu of bar snacks. He points to the far end of the bar where there was a few menus., and he returns to chatting to a colleague. We order our bar snacks, we are not given cutlery, food arrives eventually, we ask for cutlery, told to go and get it ourselves from a box at the end of the bar. Many other similar small nigles, that took the edge off a nice stay.
Review 48:Traditional Sea Front Location, Wonderful. Young Female Staff, Some of whom were Students, were great.
Review 49:Rooms far too hot Not anywhere for two people to sit and relax in the room except on the bed which had large wardrobe next to it so you couldn't see out of the window
Review 50:Breakfast was lovely
Review 51:The room was very dated with a strange smell in the bathroom. Water pressure was practically non existent so we couldn't have a shower and the water stopped completely a few times, took forever to run a bath.
Review 52:Excellent location Amazing view Great breakfast Comfortable bed
Review 53:All the stairs. Lift with exceptionally fast closing doors.
Review 54:Sea facing room 105 was excellent. Receptionist particularily good as were the breakfast waitresses.
Review 55:When the wind blew, the expelair in the bathroom was very noisey making a whistling sound.
Review 56:The view from the room The food was very good The free car parking
Review 57:It had everthing you required for over night stays, one of the very rare hotels you get a good breakfast. I stay in hotels five nights a week this is one of the better ones
Review 58:the toilet seat in he Elizabeth room (113) was the wrong seat the one there did not fit sat on part seat and part pan. no shelf to put your soap /shampoo etc in the shower.
Review 59:all the staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble, the chefs (eccelent food) bar staff, (shame no carlesberg) for me husband said the ales were all alright, reception, room staff were brilliant so clean thankyou to all. ps outside Terrace huge asset.
Review 60:No heating in the room in spite of asking, but probably due to being beginning of autumn. All slightly tired, but you get what you pay for and the town has hit slightly hard times.
Review 61:Convenient location next to sea front. Let us store bikes indoors. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable price for East Anglia, which is generally fairly expensive.
Review 62:Cold, noisy cramped rooms. I booked my mum & bro in for my wedding, mum managed to find a decent hotel for the second night, sadly there was only one room left.
Review 63:Great location, and bar/restaurant were lovely
Review 64:Bedroom very small for the price, needs updating.
Review 65:Modern bar & restaurant with lovely sea view from patio.Friendly staff.Free parking.Good breakfast.
Review 66:Disco on Friday that we were not aware of until we arrived,, very noisy but staff did offer to move us to a different room
Review 67:Staff wonderful except for one. We nicknamed her the battle axe! I don't doubt she didn't mean to be that way,
Review 68:Bed on slope, could not put cup on bedside cabinet because of slope in floor boards! Did mention to receptionist when we checked out, she said she would get someone to sort it.
Review 69:Staff very helpful
Review 70:It was not the hotel's fault that the weather was poor and the beach front was closed for renovation, but there was little else to do for guests and the lounge was full of non residents. Some requests were messed up but they did compensate. Car park was full of people using the popular carvery. They didn't warn us there would be a loud DJ in the bar/restaurant.
Review 71:Several employees tried extra hard to make us welcome and to rectify some minor errors. Thanks to them. Both rooms were large, comfortable and had promised sea views.
Review 72:Breakfast was okay but they should have had more staff on duty. In our room the shower was hopeless. Had a job to get wet. I did report this to reception.
Review 73:We liked the bar and restaurant because you were able to sit outside and enjoy the sea view. Lovely!
Review 74:Nothing on the bad side just everyone will always want a cheaper price. Everything was clean and tidy
Review 75:Hotel is in a ideal location for a seaside getaway, very friendly staff and a breakfast inc with room that was very fullfilling. Room for a budget room was very nice and bathroom facities clean .
Review 76:The room and the bathroon were dirty on arrival and nothing was done to rectify this - we were told that the Housekeeper/Housekeeping Staff had gone home. The bedroom wall had a tea/coffee stain on it under the windon the cups had been rinsed under the tap and were not dry and therefore smelt. We had the misfortune to stay a second night and despite us speaking to Reception again nothing was put right - in fact when we got back to the room on the Sunday afternoon the Housekeeper hadn't been in and so we had used towels and an unmade bed. My partner and I stayed here and I was terribly upset and embarrased as I had stayed here with my parents before and they in turn had booked and had their Silver Wedding Anniversary at The Hatfield which was superb - that said, that was 25 years ago......
Review 77:The location.
Review 78:We had a really dated room with a lovely view of a fire escape. The towels were stained and the whole room felt dirty. We could hear the hand drier going on and off downstairs. Check out was at 11am which we were not informed of at check in. We had lunch there which was horrendous. A door stop bread sandwich that was actually tesco value thin cut bread which was stale. We paid £85 for the room which seems extortionate for what it was.
Review 79:Good location
Review 80:Just that I couldn't check in earlier than half past Evelyn.
Review 81:Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff food was plentiful and Excellent for the money I paid. will be staying again next time I'm up hopefully October time.
Review 82:No fan in the room, even though it's in the description, very hot. Breakfast staff seemed uninterested we had to ask for the following: yogurt, tea cups, glasses, cutlery, crockery. This hotel could be a lot better with better staff training.
Review 83:The bar, location and the dinner
Review 84:Loved the central location and free parking. The staff were really excellent and provided friendly and professional service. Lovely choice of breakfast and super views included.
Review 85:Bedroom and bathroom need refurbishment plus paper thin walls meant you could hear your neighbours very clearly and they were noisy. No remote control for the tv either!
Review 86:The view from the bar and quick service from the kitchen.
Review 87:The rooms were very small it was very noisy all night no sleep there was no parking facility the receptionist told me I could stay on a car park which was private and could cost me a heavy fine I had to leave the hotel because I had no parking all in all it was an expensive very poor hotel
Review 88:Nothing
Review 89:The lift door closed too fast before we could both get in and the lift compartment was very small however not a big issue with either of us.
Review 90:Staff/ food/ atmosphere all excellent. Hotel very well maintained and good VFM
Review 91:Nothing at all everything excellent
Review 92:Fantastic will be booking again great food great staff and great location great atmosphere great room recommend highly
Review 93:Z bed collapsed, as did the replacement- staff not helpfull- ended up supporting the second bed on our suitcases. No toilet rolls in our room on arrival- took 2 hours and 2 calls to Reception to get some. Filthy communal 2 storey stair carpet during our 4 day stay, was not cleaned once. . Claims to be " 100% non smoking" but they scatter ashtrays all over the 80 seater outdoor eating area to attract smokers in and allow smoking there, making enjoying an outdoor meal impossible. Poor room service- got our simple breakfast wrong 2 times out of 3 ( and they charge £5 each time for room service). Very patchy customer service- staff generally appear poorly trained in this area eg asked for room servicing for our family of 4, was given towels for 2 people only. Every day there were several gaffs in the service provided, spoiling our stay there. Some staff were very good, but too many were very poor. Fittings/decor badly dated, needs refurbishment.
Review 94:Location. Food.
Review 95:Not being able to see the sea from our room because of a 'blown' double glazed unit
Review 96:The access to beach was traffic free and facilities available at the hotel for long hours
Review 97:Breakfast was a bit random, fiirst morning, coffee and tea on table, other days you had to get your own drinks, one breakfast had half a mushroom, and no black pudding.Good pint of Adnams beer one day, flat the next day.
Review 98:Fantastic room with lovely sea views.Carvery was good value, good free parking
Review 99:Work and noise on beach front, not told this was going on ,when we booked it.so no access to the beach here.rooms were not 100% clean, a lot of cobwebs in the room! after they had been cleaned.
Review 100:Nice lay out, ease of parking, friendly staff.
Review 101:The room needed painting . bathroom suite needed updating. The toilet and bath stained. It wasn't the room I booked, according to the pictures on line. It was a special treat for my partners birthday. Sadley he wasn't impressed.
Review 102:Perfect location
Review 103:Absolutely disappointed as our executive family suite was in desperate need of updating. It was dark with heavy curtains even on the four poster bed and was dated from the 70s.The throw on the bed was stained and the bathroom was terrible with leaking around bath tap and the shower was so old.etc ect ect.
Review 104:The position and view from window.
Review 105:There was a disco in the bar until midnight on both night's of our stay that kept us awake. We weren't told of this until we checked in. It either wants to be a hotel OR a nightclub. Not both!!
Review 106:Location and rear terrace, as well as staff were good. Evening meal was very good
Review 107:Having to go home!!
Review 108:We liked the bar/lounge area overlooking the seafront very tastefully furnished. Very relaxing. Staff in the bar & restaurant very friendly. All in all a lovely break.
Review 109:Staff were not bringing the bed squeaks every time you move then it very noisy as parties Bendelow say I didn't sleep till 3 o'clock in the morning breakfast was served at seven still not brilliant
Review 110:we were in room103 which was above the bar area On the Friday evening a disco was on till Midnight it was horrendous We should have been told about this but wasnt The hotel did take some money of our bill.
Review 111:location lovely staff friendly breakfast good Woulld stop again but not in room103
Review 112:Poor water supply from shower, shower drain blocked and smelly, only 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel for 2 people, grubby and ill fitting bed linen, overall cleanliness of room disappointing, awful tea and coffee, i feel ripped off by you for the room upgrade (not worth it). Breakfast not good value for money.
Review 113:Sea front location
Review 114:We had an evening meal on the Friday night we chose the carvery.looked and tasted about 3 days old and not great.
Review 115:Staff were very accommodating About our twins as they could be quite noisy and messy at times
Review 116:Nothing we didn't like! :-)
Review 117:Excellent view of the beach from our room. No noise heard at all even though bar open all night which is a plus! Perfect location in the middle of everything - perfect!
Review 118:The lift was cramped, unpredictable. The shower pressure was feeble.Door didnt shut properly leaving an inch gap.
Review 119:we liked the seaview and the residents free carpark. Most of the staff were extremely polite and friendly.
Review 120:The breakfast staff could maybe more pro-active, they needef to be called over for service. They were however friendly and pleasant
Review 121:The location, the general decor and friendly staff
Review 122:we booked a budget room ,and compared to other well known budget rooms we have stayed in this was very scruffy.
Review 123:The location on the seafront excellent, staff very friendly ,bar and restaurant quite modern.
Review 124:The bed was like sleeping on a box. The curtains were shabby with the linings hanging down, and did not open and shut properly. The paintwork was dusty, and there was a chunk of plaster out of the wall by the towel rail.
Review 125:The location, the food and the staff.
Review 126:The room was a bit worn and our childrens beds were very uncomfortable.
Review 127:The breakfast was excellent. The restaurants were really good and the staff very polite and welcoming.
Review 128:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 129:Wife in wheelchair and staff could not have been more helpful and ensured we had a wonderful time. We had all our meals at the hotel as the food was so good and reasonably priced.
Review 130:The seafront location is superb, step off hotel decking onto the prom and beach. Carparking beside hotel, quality of food great, staff warm and helpful. Great value for money.
Review 131:Excellent staff very friendly and polite 100percent. Good choice off menu and drinks. Very obliging helping with our cases as we are both disabled
Review 132:Budget room too small and confined. In family room bathroom had nothing to hold onto and had to climb in bath for shower. Elderly people with mobility probs. Did mention when booking there was a mobility requirement. Noisy disco as wedding had taken place. Staff were brilliant the hotel was great for able bodied but not for elderly.
Review 133:Staff were brilliant
Review 134:slight problem with dinner ordered pork short ribs but got belly blocks but it was sorted out by the restaurant managers
Review 135:friendly staff good food clean hotel reasonable prices for food and drink
Review 136:Though the room was spacious, the fixtures and fittings were tired.
Review 137:The staff were welcoming and helpful. The restaurant/bar/cafe was great, offering a wide variety of good food and drink. My son liked the beach just outside!
Review 138:Breakfast service was terrible, waited 45 mins to get our meal and it came without bread and butter, we asked three times for it and the excuse came that toaster was broken, I explained we only asked for bread and butter not toast, by the time we got it our breakfast was cold. Not good at all.
Review 139:Beds were lovely and comfortable
Review 140:Dump the poor quality toilet paper. It will always create an impression of penny-pinching management.
Review 141:The hotel and its location were close to perfect. There did not appear to be a viable alternative
Review 142:Check in. We arrived after a long journey to find they didn't have the family room that we had booked. For some reason the woman on reception sent us to a twin room even though we made it clear that there were three of us. Eventually got a second room which was great but could have done without the hassle.
Review 143:location, facilities
