Reviews for The Crescent Turner Hotel

Review 1:The double bed was actually two singles joined together, which meant you were wedged between the two mattresses. Not great at the price I paid, but overall it was comfy.

Review 2:Beautiful surroundings, great location, good views. Breakfast was nice, staff were very attentive.

Review 3:N/a

Review 4:I loved everything from the minute we arrived. Parking was never a problem and we got such a lovely welcome on arrival from the lovely man at the reception. He personally showed us around the hotel and took us up to our room which we loved. The design and fixtures and fittings were very tasteful. Would Def go back when we have the chance. Delightful.

Review 5:The prices for dining were as much as many superior restaurants (£20 for main) yet when I asked the waitress how something was cooked she said she hadn't a clue as she'd only worked there for 3 weeks! The other annoying thing was the bed being 2 singles shoved together, so if you lay in the middle you slowly fell through the gap, a fitted sheet being the only thing holding it together.

Review 6:friendly staff nice breakfast

Review 7:we thought the breakfast bar was a litle poor given the price of the hotel but they are hampered by the size of dining room. the dining room and lounge would be improved by being larger especially in the winter when can't eat outside snd everyone wants to be around the lovely log fire

Review 8:excellent room, good staff and lovely view.would recommend it

Review 9:Wash basin is tiny (deluxe room), probably smaller than the ones you find in toilet, so splashes everywhere.

Review 10:Very quiet location. Extremely helpful staff. Good wifi in room. Nice breakfast. Beautiful views towards the sea.

Review 11:Shower room needed more space for shampoo and other bathroom accessories. Toilet brush holder past its sell by date- not in keeping with superb look of rest of hotel.

Review 12:Very friendly staff. Excellent room, sitting room and dining room. Food could not be faulted.

Review 13:The location was perfect for me and had a fantastic view.Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and the breakfast was yummy !!

Review 14:No room service i.e. breakfast in bed during weekend is a major disappointment. Had to serve ourselves with just toast and jam. Were told by breakfast staffs "no hot food (full English etc.) to room" while I was happy to bring it myself - no logic, that's not hospitality my dears

Review 15:Staffs at a front desk were very good and helpful.

Review 16:Being really picky but the plastic shower tray was out of place in such a high end bathroom and it leaked when showering.

Review 17:Had a fantastic stay from the moment we checked in on Friday evening till our departure on the Sunday morning. All members of staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Jazz the restaurant manager was especially attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drink menus. The food was fresh, well present but most importantly delicious and cooked beautifully. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was light with fluffy towels and complementry white company toiletries. Altogether a great hotel.

Review 18:I love the Crescent Turner, the staff are so helpful and friendly, the rooms are gorgeous and you are guaranteed a good nights sleep in a really comfy bed, great

Review 19:Just a little further away fr town than we would prefer.

Review 20:Staff were friendly and the hotel beautiful and spotless. Location on top of the hill giving fabulous views.

Review 21:My request for an early check in was accommodated in a very pleasant and helpful manner and our room was upgraded as a result of my husbands birthday. The staff were lovely and so helpful. The room was beautiful and absolutely spotless.

Review 22:Nothing.

Review 23:Fantastic hotel, really comfortable stylish decor, very clean (and I'm fussy!), friendly helpful staff. Very good dinner in restaurant. Great views over Thames Estuary. Ideal for a rare weekend away without the kids.

Review 24:The bathroom was a little bit small, but it was enough for one night. We had dinner in the hotel, which was lovely, but the lights were too bright! Its a small thing but I felt it took away from the ambience of the restaurant. Food and service was great though.

Review 25:Lovely hotel, the staff were very accommodating. We stayed in the sea view room, and it was beautiful, and very comfortable.

Review 26:Lighting far too bright in dining room (esp. for this 50-something lady!) but it was less than relaxing and not conducive to a relaxing evening. Breakfast very busy the next morning, and the charming staff did their very best - but I should not have received a charred black muffin under my Eggs Benedict however busy everyone was!

Review 27:Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was lovely with great views, very clean and comfortable. Dinner was extremely good - even very fussy teenage son ate everything and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 28:Breakfast service - there didn't seem to be any, the waitress was nowhere to be seen. The hot fresh croissants were very good though.

Review 29:The freshness of the décor, the cleanliness and overall feel that they really are proud of their hotel.

Review 30:Room was too small, bed really hard, noise from room next door didn't sleep well. Not enough choice on menu, breakfast selection very sparse.

Review 31:Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 32:Double room a little small but we were made aware of this before and it was less expensive. The view more then made up for it however.

Review 33:Everything has a quality feel and the room was very comfortable and quiet. Staff are very professional and helpful. Amazing view from the room.

Review 34:Big group of people staying at the same time, got a bit hectic at breakfast, with not enough tables, perhaps in hindsight the big group should have been seated elsewhere? All in all the staff coped very well with some demanding customers.

Review 35:The interior of the hotel was very stylish with staff being very friendly. Our room was a lovely size with a good view. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 36:A VERY small room ( NO8*), this room is also above the reception area which was busy and noisy at 11.00 on a Saturday night Breakfast was a little disorganised- food kept running out and the staff had to be asked to refill- it was a very busy breakfast room !

Review 37:very friendly and accommodating staff- nothing was too much trouble excellent décor- very tasteful

Review 38:You can't walk to town but a cab was very cheap. Wifi was patchy when we were there but I think they were experiencing some problems and were very nice about it.

Review 39:Staff were friendly, funny and very attentive. The hotel was absolutely beautiful - very high standard. Great views. Very comfortable. Lovely place to sit and have a drink on the decking outside. Not too expensive. Breakfast was nice. Our room was a little cold but they sorted that straight away. Best chips EVER.

Review 40:would have liked some cold cheese/meats in the continental breakfast offered which was just croissants..A good 25 minutes walk from the sea front, which isn't apparent from the map

Review 41:beautifully appointed

Review 42:Always on green fire alarm light, but didn't spoil sleep.

Review 43:Faultless. Great service from arrival to departure, professional & friendly without being fussy. Very nice, large, long room with sea view, (free upgrade). Quiet, good night's sleep. Very well cooked spinach added to veggie cooked breakfast.

Review 44:Did not like that the menu is the same the whole stay. Only four choices on dinner menu and apparently the same for two weeks at a time.

Review 45:Delightful welcome, room very pleasant, staff excellent throughout hotel. Food very good.

Review 46:Service was good at dinner but staff quite disappointing at breakfast. One staff member was quite unaccommodating at breakfast when we were told we could sit anywhere only for her to then make us move tables for no apparent reason other than she didn't seem to want to reset the table. We then tried to order only to be told that certain menu items weren't available, which would have been nice to know when we were given the menus. She thought this was funny. Not very impressive.

Review 47:Very comfortable bed and fantastic room. Lovely sea views

Review 48:Had evening meal. Food was nice but pricey, (mains 20-24 pounds), shame they don't have an option of cheaper bar snacks. We arrived by taxi in the evening and did not therefore have much choice but to stay and have the dinner.

Review 49:Staff very friendly, lovely views, comfortable rooms, nice lounge area, pleasant breakfast room and good breakfast.

Review 50:Waiting staff very pleasant and eager but obviously quite inexperienced. Breakfast buffet would have been improved with a basket of bread on the table as toast came out before the breakfast and was a bit of a stingy portion of thin bread and was cold by the time breakfast arrived. Otherwise breakfast freshly cooked with plenty of variety.

Review 51:dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Food really well executed, imaginative and enjoyable. Hotel very clean and nicely decorated, bed comfortable. We had a standard double which was adequately sized but drawers in the bedside table would have made the most of the space.

Review 52:Can't think of anything other than you need to drive everywhere because it's not near the town. But the upside was that it was peaceful and had lovely views.

Review 53:Staff were friendly. Room was comfortable and was well equipped. Location beautiful.

Review 54:Everything was perfect. The staff were helpful from the off, the room was immaculate and very nicely decorated. The view from the dining room and the garden is fabulous. Perfect for a break away from the city but being close to the fab town of Whitstable.

Review 55:Unfortunately the breakfast did not live up to our standards nor expectations (strange, because dinner the previous evening was excellent). We did talk to Peter about this so this won't be a surprise review ! Service was awful, clearly there was a problem in the kitchen. We waited 40 mins and ended with cold toast and cold tea (which to be fair was re-offered hot but by then we just wanted to leave the restaurant !) We would also like to comment on the wash hand basin in our en-suite which was very small indeed. Having made these comments, our stay was not 'blighted' in any way.

Review 56:Our room was lovely and did have wonderful views but lacked a little privacy as it was on the ground floor and other guests were able to walk around the grounds outside the room. If I may, I would suggest easier to 'operate' window coverings, perhaps vertical blinds. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - in particular Peter and Bryony.

Review 57:Noise travelling up from main road and breaking tranquility.

Review 58:Amazing views over Whitstable from Decking and Dining room. Very inviting and comfortable rooms and Guest areas. A really feeling of peace and tranquility at the Hotel.

Review 59:Dinner was such a let down. Tiny portions and overpriced. After a few drinks and not realising the meal was some what nouveau cuisine we were stuck at the hotel unable to drive anywhere for a decent meal to fill us up. Monday was a wet and windy evening. We planned to stay in the hotel, eat and relax. Instead we went to sleep hungry. When we read the menu and it said lamb with leeks peas and fondant potatoes we expected a hearty plate of food. Not one burnt potatoe, 4 tiny slices of fatty lamb, a braised leek the size of a spring onion and a teaspoon of pea foam! For £20.00 each plate, I thought it was shameful. Very sorry but this restaurant really let's such a beautiful hotel down. We went to bed starving. No wonder the restaurant was quiet.

Review 60:Beautiful and clean. Lovely staff.

Review 61:The breakfast was a little short of variations. I had upgraded our room to get a bathroom and it was very nice but the two sinks in the bathroom did not work and when we advised management they said its on their to do list. Only the fact that we stayed for 3 nights otherwise I would have liked to have another room. We ordered a paper and had to ask for it every morning it was not delivered. We did not eat at the hotel in the evenings so cannot comment.

Review 62:The setting was really nice and we were offered shawls when we sat outside in the evening. It was quite cosy, fresh and our room was decorated well.

Review 63:Room too small.bathroom needs frosted glass. Not enough hooks eg nowhere to hang towels. Cooked breakfast a little small. Room too hot

Review 64:Nice views, nicely furnished.lovely staff.country location

Review 65:Fantastic hotel, it was chic and classy but still felt like home. Lovely staff, who felt like friends and could have done no more to accommodate every need. Lovely views, lovely room and great value. It was near to everything, Canterbury and whitstable are on your doorstep. Just wonderful. I will be booking again soon and highly recommend.

Review 66:Not a bad experience but the room was minute and only a double bed when we are used to a king size. Also, very hot, despite the 2 fans provided.. No smoked haddock available for breakfast even though it was a Saturday morning and the hotel was full.

Review 67:The location is pretty with a lovely view of the sea from the hillside. The staff were friendly and helpful

Review 68:Staff were efficient and friendly and we were made to feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and the hotel was immaculate. £5 in a cab down to the town centre, amazing view, lovely gardens, we particularly enjoyed drinks out on the deck. We will definitely return next time we come to Whitstable.

Review 69:I would have liked to have had a travel cot for my granddaughter to use we couldn't bring one as not enough room in car.

Review 70:The whole package was amazing. The staff were very friendly. A warm and welcoming rest.

Review 71:Basin in the bathroom was very small, and there was only a shower - no bath. The very polite receptionist explained there is only 1 room with a bath in the entire hotel when we asked if it were possible to change room. Although the evening meal was delicious and beautifully presented we thought it was a little overpriced.

Review 72:The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The decor of the hotel is excellent and the patio has sea views.

Review 73:A teeny bit of criticism , the small basin in this luxurious room.

Review 74:Our room had a fantastic view with picture windows overlooking the Isle of Sheppey and the Thames. The terrace was a wonderful place to sit and watch the sunset.

Review 75:The staff were excellent! The food was delicious and we had a table with a fabulous view for dinner which added to the occasion. The bedroom was small but stylish and had all the mod cons you would need for a stay.

Review 76:Our bedroom was over the function room and there was considerable noise from a tea party below.

Review 77:We loved the style of this hotel. Spacious rooms with individual decor, helpful staff and good views over the estuary.

Review 78:Our room was directly above the kitchen, so with window open on a hot night, you could hear staff talking. But, was a last minute booking, so you don't expect to get the best room !

Review 79:Very friendly, helpful staff. Nice quiet location

Review 80:Slightly warm room and no cocktails

Review 81:Great location with great staff :) Food was excellent and good selection on the bar. Nice quiet road with no traffic and perfect if you like to be just away from all the hussle and bussle.

Review 82:Some of the other guests let themselves down by finding the slightest thing to grumble at, and some are unable to control their youngsters causing a nuisance, just selfish behaviour. The road noise is noticeable.

Review 83:The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, everything was very clean and tidy. The view with a sunset is stunning

Review 84:No problems at all

Review 85:Room small but very nice, it was a hot summers evening when we stayed so the fans and summer duvet were appreciated. Had a lovely dinner and drinks on the terrace whilst watching the sunset, couldn't have been more perfect. Staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly.

Review 86:Breakfast staff could not keep up with the number of guests. Eggs were overcooked and the buffet was not restocked until we asked. However, the bacon was delicious.

Review 87:Lovely, comfortable rooms with French chic décor. Spacious modern bathroom with very large shower. All very tasteful and clean. Lovely sea view from the terrace of the breakfast room. I would recommend it and would come again.

Review 88:People may say that the 1.9 mike walk to the beach front is excessive, it was actually a pleasant walk.

Review 89:Exceptional decor, service and felt luxurious. Staff couldn't have done any more for us as a party.

Review 90:Just a lock on the bathroom door of the family room would have been good.

Review 91:Everything was great. The staff, decoration, furniture, views, everything perfect.

Review 92:If going to be picky. A little more attention to the cleaning of bathroom. Mirror behind taps water stains. Toilet roll holder dusty and some stains on toilet seat. Everything else perfect.

Review 93:Staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Room 11 fantastic. Beautiful views. Food excellent especially breakfast. Lovely quiet location.

Review 94:Excellent location , away from town but close enough for a quick cab ride in. Nice atmosphere and staff were friendly. Excellent dinner in the restaurant.

Review 95:Beautiful views and setting overlooking Whitstable. The hotel and rooms were beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The breakfasts were 10/10!

Review 96:Service varied, some staff where excellent & couldn't do enough for you whilst others need more training in customer service - on one night my wife ordered a tonic water & the waiter whilst pouring spilt it all over us. There was no apology just a comment to say that he would get another one & it was all part of the experience. We even had to ask for a cloth ourselves to clean up!

Review 97:Warm & friendly greeting on arrival along was nice to be shown where the restaurant was on route to our room. Room was spotless & very comfortable with excellent views. Evening meal in the restaurant was well presented & delicious.

Review 98:Everything about it,staff made you very welcome as soon as you walked in and couldn't do enough for us,we stayed here for our wedding anniversary and will be staying here again next year.

Review 99:Excellent view of bay from room and dining room.Quiet location and well kept grounds with little rabbits playing. Delicious food. Newly decorated, tastefully done.

Review 100:Service was little hit and miss in the restaurant for dinner — ie, we had to ask for bread several times — but that's the only criticism.

Review 101:The location is stunning. The views over the estuary from the terrace were so good that we abandoned our plan to eat in Whitstable and stayed put!

Review 102:Very comfortable accommodation. Everyone very welcoming. Restaurant food carefullly and well prepared. Guests from outside - was there for a family wedding - were also wamly welcomed. Overall a very successful stay - granted excellent weather and views of the Thames Estuary with stunning sunsets.

Review 103:Room was long and narrow no problem but the toilet/shower was very small.

Review 104:Staff very friendly and helpful and food breakfast was great-proper beds for all of us -went as a family 2 adults 2 children and there was a double and two singles in the room.

Review 105:We recently stayed for one night and found everything perfect. Our standard room was immaculate. The fixtures and fittings and décor were of the highest quality and the staff were pleasant and efficient. We had breakfast in the dining room overlooking the estuary and the food was great. Really couldn't fault it!

Review 106:As soon as we arrived the staff were extremely welcoming and they couldn't do enough for you. The room was beautiful and they had thought of every thing. We had drinks at the bar and the ambiance was a very peaceful one. The views and location are excellent. Breakfast was very good too.

Review 107:I needed to leave at 7.30am for work, I mentioned this at reception the previous night who advised I shouldnt go hungry and I could take some breakfast with me. In the morning I was expecting to be able to pick up some fruit, a croissant and a yoghurt but this was not available as the fruit salad and yoghurt were in a bowl and there were no bananas

Review 108:Friendly staff and spectacular view

Review 109:As non- drivers we found the best way to get into town was by using the local taxi company.

Review 110:Our stay was enjoyable from the very start, all staff we came into contact with were helpful, and friendly.

Review 111:The staff were so helpful and friendly. Very personable, and made us feel at home. The decor is lovely, and beds and furniture is very comfortable. The food was superb too!

Review 112:On top of the excellant staff and facilities, one can enjoy the romantic sunset everyday, plus there is a big lawn, birds and hares go there every morning, a huge bonus of the stay.

Review 113:Location out of the city may be an issue for some. If you have a car its no issue. I would add a work desk to the room (If you want to work in the hotel , instead of having a nice walk.....)

Review 114:Location was amazing with beautiful views. Staff very freindly very nice new room I woud surly recomend this place.

Review 115:Our room was beautiful but due to the hot weather the room was even hotter. Unfortunately this made it difficult to sleep. However wouldn't put me off staying again.

Review 116:This hotel is located in a beautiful peaceful area of whist able. Hidden in the country but close enough to the nearest town and not far from Canterbury. Definitely worth a visit.

Review 117:We booked in for an evening meal. Started and main was so special. The Chef is not a pudding chef and in comparison to the mains were a let down.

Review 118:Room view staff were just the best I would say the best ever room we have stayed in.

Review 119:I mistakenly booked a single room for a weekend away with my wife. Although the hotel was fully booked the manager kindly sourced the owners room for us at the hotel, thus saving me a long and frosty drive back to London! Great service!

Review 120:My room and shower room were very good but I had a sleepless night on the hottest night of the year so far (June 2015), the single bed was made up with a king size winter weight duvet. A blanket in the wardrobe would have solved this problem . I eventually managed to heave it onto the floor and slept under the cover and a bath towel.

Review 121:Excellent single room with a good view of the gardens and the distant sea. Dinner excellent the best fish dish I have eaten for a long time. The attention to detail throughout the hotel is noticeable. Except ... see next box.

Review 122:Leg fell off the armchair when boyfriend moved it to sit it. We reported to reception staff. Wardrobe had quite stiff doors and noisy hangers.

Review 123:Lovely sea view and private patio area Beautiful period decor and very comfortable bed Friendly and efficient staff offering room service Quiet room and and hotel location ideal for relaxation and recuperation

Review 124:The staff were amazing. Sam at the front desk made us feel so welcome and Jaz was a great waiter and gave some good information on the area. The bed was amazing and so comfy. Would definitely visit again.

Review 125:We stayed in a room overlooking the carpark. The security light stayed on all night and the blinds did not block this out. Also noise from the carpark when the window was open could be heard. I'd recommend a rear room.

Review 126:Great decor, friendly and helpful staff. Amazing terrace to sit in the sun. The. Breakfast was awesome.

Review 127:Not a bad experience but or small shelf or something in the bathroom to put toothbrushes/paste on. Had to take back into the bedroom after using. Ensuite bathroom was very snug

Review 128:Staff stood out Easy to find and good parking Views from the large terrace Felt very comfortable there

Review 129:Breakfast was a little chaotic due to new staff training, but couldn't fault the food. Little noisy with the main door banging shut, maybe a soft close hinge would help.

Review 130:Comfortable bed, excellent shower, excellent location

Review 131:Our main niggle was the room was very warm! Even with rads off and a small window open it was very warm! A summerweight duvet would have helped and the ability to open a larger window! We could have wedged the french door open but it was blowing a gale the night we stayed so don't think the outcome would have been successful!

Review 132:Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of space and lovely bedding and bathroom.
