Reviews for Hotel Victoria

Review 1:Service was slow, but staff vey nice, so couldn't really complain. Menu hasn't changed for ages, and finding a gluten free dish was not easy, it came down to steak and chips, however when my meal arrived the chips had been substituted for new potatoes as the chips weren't gluten free, which showed someone was thinking!

Review 2:Staff were very friendly. We were upgraded foc which was a lovely surprise on arrival, they catered at breakfast for my gluten free diet with a choice of cereals, gluten free toast, rice milk etc. very good

Review 3:It would have been great if we could have had at least one bright light for reading, as the low lighting was a little too low.

Review 4:Food was great. As I was recovering from major surgery, I was able to have child size portions, even so they were too arg, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed his generous portions.

Review 5:My room looked tired and rather drab, not helped by the humming of the air conditioning units. Not enough to justify a negative review.

Review 6:Friendly ,helpful staff, nice. Location, good food, comfortable surroundings.

Review 7:The sea view room was excellent, particularly with no road between you and the sea. Beautiful view, so quiet with just the sound of sea...and wonderful sun streaming in in the morning...worth paying the extra for room 306. Breakfast room overlooking sea very peaceful and staff friendly. Of course the unseasonal weather did help!

Review 8:no real bad experience, but I did notice the broken glass down the side of the hotel as I walked through to the cliff top

Review 9:views from restaurant; bar meals; friendliness of staff - reception and bar / restaurant

Review 10:Nice hotel, perfect location for my trip and lovely spot on the cliffs. Nice big room and everything I needed in it. Pleasant evening spent in the bar and restaurant with a good meal and pint. Very good breakfast in the morning. Would book again. Thanks.

Review 11:The lift was a bit ropey, sounded like it needed some work. Breakfast on Sunday could have been a bit longer, 8am to 9.30 wasn't as late as I'd have liked.

Review 12:Sea view room was lovely, spacious very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 13:Service a breakfast was very slow. had to ask for toast 3 times before it arrived. However, was very tasty.

Review 14:Room was clean and spacious. hotel was quiet. We got a good nights sleep.

Review 15:booking made no mention of resturant menu for lunch and dinner didnt inspire me but breakfast was excellant

Review 16:comfort cleanliness sea view and helpful friendly staff

Review 17:What's not to like? View was rubbish - but that is normally what single travellers get!I came for a wedding - not the view! (View at breakfast time brilliant@) Was pleased to see a box of tissues provided.Less pleased to discover only one tissue in it when I needed to use one late at night! Maybe they are not actually provided as standard?

Review 18:Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Welcoming.Breakfast was lovely and again staff were welcoming and helpfuL Came as a wedding guest and it was brilliant!

Review 19:Can't fault anything

Review 20:The staff were excellent, especially Tom the night porter. The view over the sea at breakfast was lovely even this time of year

Review 21:Sound proofing was awful , I could hear every step above me as ceiling and light fitting rattled. Staff could have been a little more customer focused

Review 22:The room was a good size and food was good .

Review 23:The bed has dips in it. The bath wasn't a spa bath as advertised. We had a fire alarm go off at 3am in the morning.

Review 24:We had a room with a sea view. The weather was good enough to have the door open all night to listen to the sea.

Review 25:Dusty room.dirty mirror.meal in restaurant very poor.long wait very poor food.struggled to get table.waitress was very good felt sorry for her the rest of your team let her down. It's a shame the place looked very nice on pre viewing on line.

Review 26:The look from outside and location

Review 27:Would have liked a spa or swimming pool.

Review 28:The food was excellent and the staff were really pleasant & helpful. The location is right next to the beach

Review 29:Staff all so helpful and friendly, great location. Went there for 2 nights to celebrate my mums 79th birthday along with my 2 aunts. Had some lovely walks along the sea front. Visited Oulton Broads and went on a boat trip. would recommend this hotel.

Review 30:Poor car parking - a wedding each day of my stay took all of the available space. On check in was told that free parking on the road but very little and long walk when it was raining. Very little apology at reception on non-operable key card on first attempt to enter my room with luggage in tow. Although fish on breakfast menu none available. Messy hallways on bedroom floors with uncollected trays and dirty linen on floors.

Review 31:Location, Very pleasant and swift breakfast waiters and waitresses. Good sized single room with full bathroom.

Review 32:Breakfast was not good had to wait to long and trying to get more coffee and tea was nearly impossible. Bedroom bathroom needed some work doing to it

Review 33:Location was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful

Review 34:Continental breakfast selection on second morning was poor, with only one staff member serving who was also quite impolite.

Review 35:Room was fantastic with a great view across the beach. Breakfast room service also excellent.

Review 36:Stayed for a wedding and the paths around the garden had a lot of litter including black banana skins. Inside hotel was very clean

Review 37:The central location. It was quiet at nights

Review 38:Certain areas needed cleaning I.e window blinds in bathroom and found long brown hairs still in bath when we checked into room.

Review 39:Location very good with ample parking

Review 40:Inadequate menu, wedding parties are prioritized having sole access to the terrace leaving other guests to suffer the noise

Review 41:Sea views from our room, promenade walks

Review 42:None, it was a great holiday

Review 43:The staff were very helpful. It was very clean.breakfast was yummy. The beach was just across the road. I took my mum who is 88 years old with my family and she had a great time too.

Review 44:Wasn't able to access free internet. Fruit basket and bathrobes weren't in the room and had to ask for them - they were meant to be included.

Review 45:sea view and closeness to beautiful beach.

Review 46:None, although plastic packets of preserves at breakfast rather let down the otherwise very good standard.

Review 47:Excellent location above beautiful sandy beach and our standard double room and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable.

Review 48:First visit to Lowestoft and did not know what to expect. Delighted with hotel as has prime position located right on the sea front. Able to have wonderful long walks along the beach which seems to stretch for miles. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was excellent. The piano player on Saturday evening was brilliant. Good value for money. Plenty of free parking. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Review 49:a little slow getting things from kitchen. Could do with a fridge in bedroom. Bookings.com states room for 2 adult and 2 kids £105, does not mention suppements for more than 2 people

Review 50:Good value restaurant

Review 51:Welcomed by a lovely male porter, very friendly for the time of night we arrived. Quickly checked in and directed to our room. Very tasty cooked to order breakfast delivered to the room at the time specified. Was lovely and very filling. The view of the sea from the room was beautiful in the morning. Opened door and windows due to the temperature and a cool breeze cooked us down. Couldn't have asked for better.

Review 52:There was nothing I didn't like

Review 53:I liked my single room on the top floor as it was very quiet and my bed was very comfortable. I had a side sea view although I didn't ask for one.

Review 54:Would suggest air conditioning being installed. We were lucky enough to stay on the warmest weekend of the year so far and the room was very hot. Also would install a shower with a bit of power!

Review 55:Friendly welcoming feeling from staff and surroundings. Felt very at home.

Review 56:A wedding was being held the night we stayed, but as we were given a room at the front of the hotel we were directly above the bar and therefore had a rather loud night. Not good with two small children.

Review 57:Room was lovely, family room had two bedrooms and a large bathroom. Wifi was great in the room

Review 58:there was nothing

Review 59:the staff were all so polite and helpful its a shame they work so hard a gain little or no credit for what they are expected to do thankyou to all of you

Review 60:Appalled at the difference between the cost of booking.com and going to the hotel directly, which our friends did and saved £90 for a 2 night stay! Disgusted at the lack of synergy, I won't use this site again, or the hotel.

Review 61:Breakfast food and young staff nice

Review 62:The comfort of the room, we paid extra for a seaview, well worth it. Large room, extremely comfortable. The food was excellent and not too expensive. Staff were excellent very cheerful and helpful.

Review 63:the reading lights didn't work and no one could replace the fuse. Children running around both in the evening and morning through the corridors. Breakfast that we ordered the night before was not correct in the morning although a member of staff did make an effort to get it right.

Review 64:the location

Review 65:Not really a bad experience but expected more from the Taste of Anglia menu. Food was cooked and served hot but the main courses (belly pork and lamb shank( could have had more flavour. However, the cauliflower soup and fishcakes were very good.

Review 66:The staff were very efficient, cheerful, helpful and engaging. Great position on the seafront to allow for access onto the beach and promenade or just to watch them!

Review 67:Only had Wi-Fi in the common areas.

Review 68:The hotel is in an excellent location. Very confortable. The room was amazing with sea view. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Review 69:room was not suitable for long stay ,storage was minimal ,no set drawers so most things into wardrobe ,windows where screwed close ,under repair ,and sealed with tape to stop draughts, the bathroom had little shelf not big enough for toiletries etc , fittings old, the bathmixer tap was hard to adjust either cold or boiling, suggested they fitted thermo tap. the general condition ie mouldy sealant gave the picture that the room was in need of make over , to top it all on our last night in the early hours the head board on bed fell from wall . the following was conveyed to staff and in my hotel survey

Review 70:the staff very friendly cannot do enough for you ,food was excellent

Review 71:Wifi was non existent no reception. Single room had no view very dark can hear neighbouring rooms tv.

Review 72:Breakfast was good although only croissants on offer as a bread for continental, no bread/pastries varieties. Cooked breakfast excellent. Well maintained property and clean. Restaurant staff very friendly. Complimentary waters and biscuits with tea coffee.... a rareity in hotels these days, appreciated.

Review 73:Super friendly and efficient staff. Lovely food. Comfortable room . Would definitely recommend . Nothing was to much trouble . Excellent breakfast menu . Thanks for a great stay .

Review 74:That the Hotel Victoria and Booking.com between mismanaged our booking so that there were not enough rooms for the whole party but no one would admit who made the error. Hotel blamed booking.com and Booking .com blamed Hotel

Review 75:Nothing

Review 76:Room a bit smelly, could do with a lick of paint

Review 77:single room fair size good sea view. not too noisy at night. Ample breakfast. Restaurant food good and not too expensive.

Review 78:Nothing to dislike

Review 79:Location, comfort and staff friendly and efficient. I only stayed for breakfast, a full English which will set you up for the day nicely. Would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended.

Review 80:Bathroom very small and tired looking. Needs updating . Very busy Saturday night so book a table before you go .

Review 81:Large room with lovely sea view. Food well cooked for a 3 star hotel. Lift for my elderly mother

Review 82:The lighting in the rooms is not good for reading, rather dim

Review 83:The views are. Excellent. Nothing to be critical about Food is very good,if anything too much to eat

Review 84:Not much! The decor looks fairly recently done but feels rather dated The wild mushroom & tarragon risotto (starter on the East Anglia menu) was nice but was missing the tarragon It seemd quite pricey for the area (although it was half term)

Review 85:Friendly helpful staff The fish pie on the East Anglia menu The sea views from my room and the restaurant Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast

Review 86:The bathroom was a bit tired. It was a huge bathroom with a small bath, overhead shower and an enormous mirror that you had to be about 6 ft to truly appreciate. At 5 ft 2 it was a tip toe job even in 4 inch heels. The hotel has been refurbished but it would benefit from a little more work on the bathrooms.

Review 87:Room was huge with a really comfortable bed and a lounge area with balcony and view of the sea. Staff were welcoming and fun even when dealing with us as a loud fairly tipsy group at 3 am in the morning. Breakfast was included in the price and was plentiful and tasty. The best thing about this hotel is the staff who are more then welcoming, helpful and smiley. They are a real credit to the hotel.

Review 88:Having to go home!

Review 89:Spacious rooms, clean toilet facilities, good welcome tray, decent size flatscreen TV, very helpful staff, good range of choice at breakfast, and a lift to upper floors...can't be bad can it?

Review 90:Breakfast cooking was terrible I was given poorly cooked eggs and COLD cooked sausage???? Ended up with Viral infection and blood infection of which I am positively sure was due to breakfast cooking

Review 91:Very long walk to recommended Indian - food was really great but perhaps suggest a taxi to future guests. Otherwise fantastic

Review 92:Helpful friendly staff & fabulous ocean views

Review 93:Although the water was piping hot the shower in the room was weak. The cooked breakfast was mildly disappointing.

Review 94:Location was excellent. Slightly away from town centre but within easy walking distance. Outstanding view from the room of a beautiful sandy beach. Evening meal was good and reasonably priced

Review 95:the hotel lift was close to our room and so on occasions could be noisy, the shower had low water pressure which sometimes came out in a trickle,

Review 96:excellant sea view and accomodation, staff very nice and would certainly go again

Review 97:Our bath was not cleaned during the week we stayed, plug, hole in hand basin was filthy and there were cobwebs on the bathroom ceiling. Had to report smelly toilet on arrival and the toilet cistern was very noisy when filling.

Review 98:Food was excellent, hotel staff were brilliant.

Review 99:The hotel bar was very busy as a wedding was on , nearly impossible to get served.

Review 100:The hotel has a great location, the rooms are every comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 101:Didn't sell prosecco by the glass

Review 102:Seaview De luxe room with seating area Helpful staff Stylish furnishings Comfortable bed Great British fish menu Pianist At dinner

Review 103:Unfortunately as the hotel has a function room it meant that it was noisy especially outside the hotel and when the guests went to their rooms in the early hours they were very noisy so we had very little sleep.

Review 104:Position. Good meals. Friendly staff. Car parking.

Review 105:No hair drier or iron in room (but available on request).

Review 106:The location of this hotel is excellent. I was lucky enough to have a room with a sea view which was a bonus. Staff were friendly and courteous, particularly in the bar and restaurant - very attentive. Room had all the basics you need.Bathrooms are huge!

Review 107:The single room was a little small and quite hot even with window open. Car park a little tight.

Review 108:The breakfast range was good. Polite helpful staff. Free wifi.

Review 109:Were told we could have early check in for wedding at 12:30. Room not ready and got in at 1:15 with ceremony at 2. Attended in a rush v unhappy. If this wasn't possible they should indicate that and not tell me it was on a best effort basis after we we're let down.

Review 110:Location and view

Review 111:Water pressure for the shower could have been higher.

Review 112:Check in was efficient and friendly. The room was a good size and the sea view was well worth the little extra we paid. Bed was comfortable and generous supply of biscuits and tea making facilities.

Review 113:very poor car parking facilities room not ready until after 4pm windows difficult to open only 2 pillows need at least 4 spider in the room even though window was closed cold tomato and too much salt on scrambled eggs at breakfast toast cold and late coming to table bathroom very small room very warm and stuffy on arrival cracked bathroom surround polished brass light switch for bathroom was unclean

Review 114:sugar puffs for breakfast sea view at breakfast comfortable bed

Review 115:The evening meal had the same menu every night. However, there were a selection of starters/main course and sweets to choose from.

Review 116:Very close to the beach. From the back garden you cross a non-car road and there are just 2 zigzag paths and you are on the beach. Its a very sandy beach and clean beach. The hotel was suitable for small children as well as taking elderly parent/s. I took mum in my family party and she is 87!

Review 117:Beds uncomfortable although Double bed felt really small. No aircon in rooms. It was really hot at night even though kept window and balcony door open all night

Review 118:Location.Staff. Food.

Review 119:The décor was a little dated and tired, although it was clean and tastefully decorated, but the bathroom was a little grubby and in need of updating. Perhaps it was an unusual, but we had a very long wait for our dinner order, which the staff did not seem to worried about. The restaurant lacked any atmosphere and did not need the piano player. The continental breakfast was very expensive for a very-very limited selection as we do not require a full english breakfast.

Review 120:Excellent location: We had a sea view room with uninterrupted views. There were no cafes, bars or late entertainment, so very quiet at night.

Review 121:Would always prefer a shower to a bath and I wasn't sure how to work the spa bath in our room. Instructions would have been helpful.

Review 122:The above, the view, especially Great breakfast. Good choice and well cooked. Lovely staff, polite, helpful.

Review 123:Nothing.

Review 124:Friendly helpful staff. Nice location and views from public rooms. A very good wedding venue as that was our reason for visit. A very good breakfast. A nice garden. Right on the sandy beach and pedestrian promenade.

Review 125:Evening menu was a bit restrictive if one isn't too keen on fish.

Review 126:Large sunny restaurant - made breakfast an enjoyable start to the day. Large bedroom and even larger en-suite made the few days very pleasant. Also very easy to leave the hotel and go down to the beach.

Review 127:The carpets are in need of a good steam, smelled a little fusty when entering rooms and hallways.

Review 128:The location was perfect for the beach and for visiting surrounding towns such as Southwold. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely.

Review 129:Although my single room was well equipped it was compact to say the least! That being said, I had a really great night's sleep!

Review 130:Nothing was too much trouble for staff and all were very friendly. Meals in the Dining room were varied, tasty and of a good size. The Hotel is a short stroll from Lowestoft Town Centre and a perfect place to stay for a business or leisure trip.

Review 131:small room old furniture and bathroom stains on the carpet little fresh air & very warm (most windows could not beopened)

Review 132:excellent location desk in the room free wifi personnel is friendly

Review 133:Breakfast wasn't good enough for the price paid

Review 134:Food at the restaurant was nice and it was good value for money Staff was very polite and helpful.

Review 135:There was a wedding function on and the noise travelled up to our room. However this didn't go on too late.

Review 136:We had a lovely sea view, it was definitely worth the extra money. The restaurant was value for money, good food and well presented.

Review 137:Some of the rooms are in need of re- decoration and also the dining areas. Food was not bad but have had better in other hotels in Lowestoft.

Review 138:The location as previously indicated

Review 139:Rooms are a little dated, particularly the bathroom. But comfortable and good value for money.

Review 140:Great breakfast and a good evening restaurant menu

Review 141:nothing

Review 142:our bedroom with sea views and 2 double beds
