Reviews for Potters Mooring Hotel
Review 1:Great b and b.Lovely breakfast with lots of choice. We stayed in the ajoining cottage which was brilliant as we could take our dogs. Also good pub next door.Cant wait to return.Sorry to leave.
Review 2:The only thing I would mention is my towel could have been larger! But it really is splitting hairs.
Review 3:Just perfect, real attention to detail. Comfy bed and pillows. Spotless. Great breakfast and delightful location.
Review 4:Awful bed.... Springs were so noisy you couldn't move. We arrived in mid nov and there was no heating on.. We hd to ask. There was no bottled water in the room. No one had checked the light bulbs, so down one end it was so dark we couldn't see inside the wardrobe. On the bed, was a thin padded sort of sheet, not a douvet. But found a douvet in the bedside cupboard. How strange.
Review 5:We liked most of it, breakfast and room
Review 6:The owners Linda and Robert were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was brilliant nothing too much to ask for. Location was fantastic. Lovely pub next door for evening meals all home cooked also 2 more places to eat in the evening plus local shops in the village for all your needs. Fantastic break and will definitely return. We was looked after from the evening we arrived to the morning we left.
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:The location was good. Although the bedroom was a little dated in its decor but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was modern and newly renovated. The breakfast was excellent
Review 9:Tiny room for 3 people, no rooms available for 4, but a very inferior fold up bed was provided making a small room impossible to move around in, and no discount given
Review 10:Breakfast, location, nice staff, good quality bedding
Review 11:Room 6 bathroom which was in the roof and had sloping roof over the toilet. As a 5'10" gent I had problems. There was also a beam that obscured part of the mirror over the sink and the floorboards creaked.. Their website says 'rooms have large en suite shower rooms' - you're joking.
Review 12:Location. Breakfast
Review 13:We didn't actually stay here ourselves but treated our 3 daughters and their partners to a break away at this Hotel. They said they couldn't fault the Hotel, the staff or the location in anyway and had a lovely time.
Review 14:Car parking was awkward but just manageable. This won't stop me from staying there again though.
Review 15:Super location, the room I had was spacious and well equipped. The village was a treat to walk round. At breakfast I wanted my bacon "well done" It took 2 attempts but came really well crisped. I really enjoyed this stay.
Review 16:We were blown away with the beautiful cottage we were given to stay in, we could not fault this guest house in anyway, we both wished we had booked for the week rather than a long weekend. Thank you for a great stay, we will defiantly be back.
Review 17:I am asthmatic so feathers in bedding were not ideal. Microwave scrambled egg spoiled an otherwise really lovely breakfast .
Review 18:Fantastic welcome, really lovely location, very comfortable, lot of thought went into facilities -fresh milk for tea and coffee, fast broadband and very accommodating on breakfast timing.
Review 19:Very friendly staff - couldn't do enough for us. Food was excellent. Room was clean and tidy. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Review 20:Central location in the village of Shaldon and it has a car park. The comfort of the Potters Mooring is super., well recommended. Very good breakfast good selection.
Review 21:The car park is very tight to reverse out of, but staff are very helpful. TV poor range of stations - just basic channels & their additions.
Review 22:A lovely hotel in a charming seaside village, next to a really good pub. (The London -very popular, must book!) The breakfast menu has an excellent range of choices. We had a lovely view across the green, with 2 armchairs in a bay window that were easily movable. A fan was thoughtfully provided in case it was too hot.
Review 23:Only problem is tight parking
Review 24:Stayed here before earlier in year, lovely people, great location, room had panoramic view. Absolutely splendid breakfasts.
Review 25:Breaky was a bit bland. I suggest they throw a few pancakes in the mix and try using crispy, streaky bacon. Most B&Bs trot out the same old tired fry up all over the UK. This is easy for them to spruce up, if they choose to.
Review 26:Very accommodating on arrival when I had mistakenly booked a single instead of double room. A staff member kindly donated their room to us. Great location in an extremely pretty town. Wifi was adequate in the room.
Review 27:Car Park a bit of a squeeze but we have always managed to park our large vehicle okay!
Review 28:We love everything about this lovely B & B, great people fantastic food and a delightful room.
Review 29:Friendly welcoming hosts. Great location, centre of village, short walks to several good eating pubs. Short walk to the beach & ferry to Teignmouth
Review 30:The location and especially their own parking was perfect for what we needed. The owners are delightful and most helpful. Our room was spacious and very homey which served us well.
Review 31:Unfortunately the extractor from the kitchen was right outside our bedroom window which meant that from 8 am onwards there was an overwhelming smell of sausage and bacon - some warning and a reduced room cost would have been appropriate.
Review 32:We were very well looked after. The room was great - just like the pictures.
Review 33:the big step down into the bathroom could prove a hazzard if you forget it's there!
Review 34:location,helpful,friendly staff, great walk in roomy shower ,modern fittings. loved the old dinning room!
Review 35:room a bit dated needs to be a bit more modern to continue to compete with others. likewise all through
Review 36:location, free parking, good breakfast, friendly host
Review 37:Parking was a pain, difficult access if you have a large car like us.
Review 38:Easy to walk to beach and great pub next door! Peaceful location. Friendly welcome.
Review 39:It was a perfect location for the wedding we were attending The staff were very friendly and welcoming. would certainly recommend and definitely would stay there again. Superb setting and the Nirvana Rooms were perfect
Review 40:Great ground floor room with nice view of the bowling green opposite the guest house. The staff were very helpfull and nothing was too much trouble. Super eggs benedict for breakfast, would recommend this guest house if visiting the Torbay area.
Review 41:We were impressed by the friendly welcome and helpful attitude of all staff during our stay. The room was quite small but comfortable and both it and the modern spacious bathroom were very clean. Our meal at the neighbouring London Inn was very good and the surrounding area of Shaldon was quaint and interesting.
Review 42:Lovely welcome from owners Linda & Bob - even a chilled bottle of Posecco in our room to help us celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Room very comfortable - even fresh milk for hot drinks. Lovely location on the village green and just a short stroll from the beach. Pub next door excellent for food. Owners very helpful with local tips of best places to eat etc.
Review 43:The noisy seagulls very early in the morning. No view from our window.
Review 44:I enjoyed the village atmosphere opposite the bowling green, the great pub next door, which served lovely food. The quaint feel about the village .
Review 45:Very friendly owner, made to feel welcome, good choice for breakfast, well cooked and presented. Had a lovely meal in pub next door. Room clean and comfortable all you could ask for.
Review 46:Excellent breakfast - the smoked haddock and poached eggs are a winner. Shaldon is a delightful village and people are very welcoming. We dined in the pub next door for our three nights which again was excellent but there are several other restaurants.
Review 47:Requested a twin and got a double. Two women had to share!! Rquested not too many stairs and was put in the attic!!
Review 48:The breakfast choice was excellent. Delivered on nice hot plates.
Review 49:Perfectly located for our group who were there to go diving. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfast was of high quality and plentiful. Oh, and there is a nice pub next door!
Review 50:Good location, in the heart of Shaldon. Great pub, with excellent food, right next door. Friendly, helpful owners. Comfortable, quiet room with modern en-suite. Hearty breakfast.
Review 51:Our 3rd stay at this well appointed hotel with excellent rooms and sufficient parking in a village where this could be difficult. The inn next door is also very good having recently been refurbished and under new ownership. No need to go out searching for somewhere to eat and drink, its all there.
Review 52:Ample parking, nice breakfast area with very good English cooking. Ferry to Teignmouth just down the street, news agent and village grocery walking distance.
Review 53:Being a small village with no controls on parking, I cannot imagine what it is like during peak times. The hotel has off road parking which is acceptable for small cars, however there was an incident with two cars being damaged whilst parking during our three day visit.
Review 54:The location is exceptional for out of season visitors.
Review 55:The only problem was parking, getting in was a nightmare as a narrow street, however with the assistance of the owner , he managed to get my car out without damage!! Would also have liked an iron in the room, Im a bit OCD with crumpled clothes!
Review 56:The location was great, typical Devon.
Review 57:Nothing really, bit tight for parking.
Review 58:The owners were most helpful, breakfast was marvellous, even down to the tea! Bathroom facilities good, view from room lovely.
Review 59:I can't actually fault the place, other than parking was a bit tricky, because of the narrow gap between cars parked on street outside the hotel. This can be fixed easily though.
Review 60:The cottage/chalet was airy, warm, a home from home. Very clean and well presented, with a traditional look. The bed was so confortable and we were surprised to find an adjoining twin room. Decent sized bath/shower and the breakfast was lovely.
Review 61:Hardly worth mentioning, given the wide choice. The full English breakfast could have been less 'lardy'. Several excellent alternatives readably available.
Review 62:Tasteful, comfortable, no expense spared furbishing. Delightful proprietors and staff, reflecting the very best of Devonshire.
Review 63:The parking was a bit awkward but at leat it has parking.
Review 64:Location was good with a great food pub nearby. The ladies were friendly, very clean and comfortable, fresh milk for tea and good cooked breakfast
Review 65:None
Review 66:Room number 3 was so comfortable.. And so homely. I like the big walk in shower. I like the way how they folded the toilet tissue.. A special thanks who ever went in and changed the towels. Full English breakfast is a must..
Review 67:Ummm can't think of a single thing we didn't like!!
Review 68:We had a lovely stay the staff were very welcoming but not overbearing. The room we had was clean cosy and just right for us thankyou very much for an enjoyable stay would highly recommend you to others :)
Review 69:I arrived on a cold rainy night and received a very warm welcome. My room was spotlessly clean, the shower was superb, there was plenty of wardrobe space, and a good wi-fi connection. A good pub next door where the menu choice is great for an evening meal. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent.
Review 70:nothing
Review 71:we liked everything at Potters Mooring the owners and staff were very nice and helpful The breakfast was great lots of choice. The cottage we had was really nice, very clean and had plenty of space to relax We will most certainly book with them again. Many thanks to everyone at Potters Mooring
Review 72:Couldn't really be helped but, really strong smell in the room during the mornings of cooked breakfasts. Some may say the staff could be a bit friendlier on arrival but its also nice to be left to get on with it
Review 73:The location lovely. Cleanliness 10/10, along with a very good quality breakfast. Good amount of tea (selection) and coffee left in the room each day.
Review 74:It would be difficult to find anything to comment upon. Only iffy comment is the difficulty in exiting the car park onto a very narrow road.
Review 75:The very welcome on arrival, the personal touch and the relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is immaculate in all respects. A delicious breakfast that lasts you all day.
Review 76:The parking was quite difficult - the parking area in front of the accommodation led out onto a very narrow road where other cars were continually parked, making entry and exit hazardous.
Review 77:The comfort, cleanliness and décor of the rooms were excellent. The breakfast menu had plenty of choice and was faultless in the making and presentation. My dairy allergy was happily catered for.
Review 78:Leaving! Wanted to stay on...
Review 79:Location - and amenities Welcome - 6 hours early Cleanliness - all over Character Bedsheets - felt comforting Breakfast - finest quality
Review 80:car park and roads to B&B were very tight. Ceiling a bit low in loft room and mirrors too low, kettle etc on a table too low in room.
Review 81:Breakfast was excellent and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Excellent location and friendly staff
Review 82:Getting out of the parking area was a challenge. Would also suggest thatcalling the establishment a hotel is somewhat misleading as it has nobar or residents lounge. A top rated b & b would be a betterdescription.
Review 83:Staff/Owners. Very helpful. When we asked forinformation/directions, the owners printed out a route for us.Breakfast. Excellent choice of food for breakfast and plenty of it. Room Cleaning. Shelley did an excellent job on cleaning the room and was also a very pleasant young woman to talk to. Overall Experience. A very pleasant B & B to stay in and would go back there if in that general area.
Review 84:Good location. The self contained rooms were excellent, we stayed in the smugglers and were very comfatable..Good breakfast..A very relaxed stay.Would recommend to anyone.
Review 85:There was nothing that occurred to us for the short time we were there.
Review 86:We needed a guest house for one night only and arrival was always going to be later in the day. Our stay would be over just after breakfast so opportunity to savour all on offer was bound to be limited. However we were made very welcome. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. We would certainly consider using Potters Mooring again hopefully for a longer stay next time.
Review 87:I have coeliac disease and, unusually, had no problems at all as Linda, warned in advance, provided the necessary gluten free food for breakfast. We also prefer sheets and blankets to duvets and these too were provided. Helpful, friendly and pleasant proprietors.
Review 88:Parking is a little tricky , but it's amazing what cars they can fit in their car park!
Review 89:The personal touch. Bob phoned to say they had problems with the room booked. They went out of their way to find us a great alternative. Breakfast was excellent. Arrived back late on the 2nd night, the pub next door London inn could not have been more accommodating and welcoming and gave us the most delicious meal.
Review 90:Nothing - although car park was not designed for my Transit sized van !
Review 91:Everything was spotless and beautiful, almost as if the room was brand new and never stayed in before. View was beautiful over the harbour from my top floor room. Just about the best b&b I have ever stayed in
Review 92:Volume from seagulls!
Review 93:Views great, nice size rooms, fantastic breakfast, friendly staff and charming accommodating owners. Breakfast on terrace a nice feature.
Review 94:The car park was a bit tight to get out of with cars parked on main road outside, but it is tight to park anywhere in Shaldon so expected it.
Review 95:The room was very clean and comfy, staff are very welcoming & the breakfast was top notch
Review 96:nothing to dislike
Review 97:every thing .loved the dining room & the teddies excellent fried breakfast & location Robert & Linda were great hosts we will come again A++++
Review 98:The seagulls were rather noisy at 5am but nothing the hotel can do about that.
Review 99:A really friendly atmosphere and they did everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
Review 100:Some idiot hit my car parked in the front yard and drove off without claiming responsibility! Very tight parking if you have a medium to large sized vehicle.
Review 101:All round very lovely location. Pub net door was great too!
Review 102:We had a lovely weekend staff very friendly and help full, room was nice bed comfortable and room clean and tidy. Weather was wonderful and with the pub next door ( country pub so not a problem being that close) we couldn't of had a better week end. Will be going back soon.
Review 103:Car parking very cramped, difficult to get in and out due to cars parked opposite entrance in very narrow road.
Review 104:Staff very friendly and Polite, top marks for cleanliness, and excellent full English breakfast.
Review 105:very tight turn into carpark due to other cars parking on very narrow devon road
Review 106:Location, facilities, staff, breakfast, left to come and go as we pleased
Review 107:Be warned that the roads in and around Shaldon are very narrow so access is a bit of a shock if you're not expecting it.
Review 108:A great welcome, a huge room and a wonderful breakfast menu in a relaxed environment.
Review 109:parking and access a bit tight for lady drivers!!!!
Review 110:we had a very clean, nice airy bedroom (we had the one in the picture) and good size shower room. Nice, friendly service and excellent breakfast. Easy walking distance to some excellent beaches and seafront and good motoring access to local area. Would certainly recommend it to others.
Review 111:My fourth stay with Linda and Robert, and as always my stay was perfect. This hotel is spotlessly clean and I highly recommend it to all.
Review 112:Friendly & comfortable
Review 113:Very well equipped and spotless accommodation. Service and quality of breakfast was first class. A very warm and friendly welcome.
Review 114:Our stay here was very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable and there was a great selection for breakfast. Would recommend this guesthouse.
Review 115:Linda and Robert are great hosts. Breakfast is excellent and a great pub next door for evening meals.
