Reviews for Villa Castello
Review 1：Istro is a very tiny village and, as we were there at the end of October, there was not much happening. Many of the restaurants were closed and the ones that were open had inferior food and slow service. It would probably be quite a different scene in the summer. The apartment was adequately equipped but we would have appreciated having a toaster and a microwave as the stove/oven was a little finicky. Some cushions on the "sofa" (more like a day bed) would make it more comfortable to sit on... Lack of screens on the windows allowed a few mosquitos to come in and bite us...making for a restless sleep some nights.
Review 2：Fantastic view from decks, basic but very clean and well cared for accommodation. Very quick and attentive service.... we emailed Christos with a couple of concerns (only 1 set of keys, shortage of linens) and his very friendly father was there first thing the next day to attend to the issues. We really appreciated Christos offer of an "upgrade" from Villa Castello to Villa Michalis. Short walk to "town" and the beaches were great.
Review 3：Welcoming: We arrived quite late, after a long drive, empty stomach at 1am and exhausted. We mentioned that we would be checking late. As we couldn't find our appartment and no note at reception, we called the landlord. He clearly didn't appreciate our call so early in the 'morning'; yelled at us (in German) and on top of that he only spoke German and Greek, no English though the (booking) correspondences were perfect English. Only cash payment: he made clear to us that only cash was accepted though it was never specified. So we had no other choice than complying with it. Last but not least, he came collecting the cash in the evening (while we were eating, cosy in our apartment, boyfriend in underwear). Though it was obvious we were dining, he waited for the money. The funny part is that earlier that afternoon we wanted to pay but as we could hear he was dining we decided to leave him in peace.
Review 4：Nice terrasse with nice sea view. Good wifi connexion except in the bedroom. Kitchen well equipped.
