Reviews for The Light House

Review 1:Having to share a bathroom. Hassled by many emails and texts prior to arrival. Having to pre-order breakfast the day before.

Review 2:Ideally situated a short walk from Tetbury centre. Nice and quiet.

Review 3:Shared bathroom

Review 4:Sarah was very helpful , even picking me up from another venue when taxi's were unavailable. The place is 'tidy' and the breakfasts excellent. On a cold night the electric blankets were much appreciated even if the room was adequately heated. A well stocked, communal and friendly breakfast table.

Review 5:I couldn't get the shower to work properly, scolding hot or freezing cold so didn't bother in the end.

Review 6:Loved the homely touches including the bedtime mint on our pillow when we got in from a night out. Loved the heated blanket on the bed.

Review 7:Friendly landlady, great location, 5min walk to nearest pub, 10min to town centre, beds very comfortable, landlady happy to provide suggestions and recomendations as to where to visit and eat in local area.

Review 8:It was clean and homely we were well received by the the owner and given advice on the facilities. The room was comfortable well furnished and very clean. Breakfast was very good a good choice of food well prepared and served to order.

Review 9:Didn't like sharing a bathroom and the fact that 3% charge was made for paying by Visa card although you said they would be not other charge. They did give us the option of paying by paypal or bank transfer which we did not do.

Review 10:near nest to Tetbury Town

Review 11:It was a very pleasant stay at The Light House. Sarah was welcoming and her home is beautiful. She cooked a hearty breakfast in the morning which set me up for the day. It's about a 5 / 10 minute walk to Tetbury town centre, which is fine. Excellent wifi connection also. Thank you Sarah for having me at your home.

Review 12:No bad experience, just would have preferred an on suite bathroom.

Review 13:The Light House is in an excellent position in a beautiful village, inside has a nice homely feel, our bedroom (Charles,s) had a comfortable quality bed along with the rest of the furniture in the house, the bathroom although shared was very spacious and clean, soap, nice quality towels and shower stuff was supplied with a lovely roll top bath and separate shower cubicle, my wife and myself both had a bath, as we could not workout how to operate the shower. As we were checking out before 0630 hrs. the normal breakfast could not be had, but cereals were left out for us to be had with the milk from our tea and coffee making facilities. There is a nice country pub/eatery in the village ( the Royal Oak?) abt. five or so minutes away.

Review 14:Poor customer service, uncomfortable atmosphere, lack of guests security, total inflexibility in response to guests needs.

Review 15:This property is very pretty and if I actually lived there it would be lovely. The problem is it's supposed to be a professional b&b. It is family run (which is usually much more lovely than an impersonal hotel) but it's almost too intimate to the point where we felt as though we were intruding on the owners personal space. We were harassed from the point of booking to pay the deposit. We then found out the owner would not let us check in outside of the hours 4pm-8pm (mightily inconvenient given that we were attending a wedding several miles away that started at 12 noon). No negotiation, no explanation, just a spoiled afternoon. Checking in consists of giving a key. Given that we were paying for 2 out of 3 of the rooms most hospitable b&b owners would be more flexible. She seemed surprised that we were not in a great mood after being dragged away from the wedding (which incidentally cost us a further £20 in taxi fares). The shared bathroom that other people have complained about didn't bother me and it was nicely kitted out (although for £80 I would have been unimpressed if I'd had to queue for it). The final straw though was when a man staying in the other room walked into our bedroom at 3am!!! I hadn't noticed the individual rooms didn't have locks. The owner did say she would rectify that. I hope she has as that is not cool. Again it's just another indication of someone who has a lovely house, who rents out rooms when the kids are away, but doesn't really seem to understand the basic expectations of people who are not your family guests, rather paying guests. None of this is anything a change in attitude wouldn't resolve. It's a nice place, in an area devoid of many other choices, so let's hope things improve.

Review 16:Harassment by owner about pre-payment and about actual payment on arrival. No key to the room. Queue to the bathroom. Tiny spaces in bedroom, staircase, dining room packed over the top with photo frames and decorations threatening to fall on your head at every movement around the house. Very stressful staying.

Review 17:WiFi connection was fast

Review 18:Didn't really have anything to complain about.

Review 19:Was a very nice experience. Very accommodating, and was always willing to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Review 20:Harassed about payment before getting onto property. Not offered off-street parking. Owner paranoid about locking front door but no locks on rooms. Room cluttered with son's personal items. Shower door jammed closed by heating unit making access difficult. Water scalding....then freezing. Bed very hard and electric blanket (that didn't work) appeared to not for the mattress top so you lay on the fittings.

Review 21:Heating good Breakfast adequate

Review 22:No B&B sign so its hard to spot from the road. Room small & cramped, owners stuff kept under the bed. Dining room cluttered with boxes. Lots of rules including; no check-in after 8pm; only cash payments. You have to choose when you arrive what you want for breakfast, & exactly what time.

Review 23:It was clean and the breakfast was good.

Review 24:There was nothing

Review 25:Convenience Cleanliness The welcome I received and just what a little Gold Mine it is

Review 26:Shared bathroom, very much felt as though we were staying in someone's house. Prefer hotels.

Review 27:The location

Review 28:shower not great, windows banged in the wind, no lock on bedroom door.

Review 29:Breakfast was lovely, bed was comfortable

Review 30:The bed was quite hard.

Review 31:The owner was lovely.

Review 32:Owner very pleasant

Review 33:Being locked out at 0030! Only stay here if you fancy a 1950s style boarding house. I would rather sleep in my car than stay here again.

Review 34:The breakfast

Review 35:Cleanliness, comfy beds, lovely bathroom, nice breakfast.

Review 36:Lovely garden at rear of property. Art and bohemia about the place. Great recommendation on the pub.

Review 37:Very homely and comfortable, made to feel very welcome and tea and coffee with biscuits available in each room.

Review 38:Breakfast

Review 39:None

Review 41:The location, hospitality and breakfasts were great.

Review 42:Handy quiet location. Off-road parking. Wi-fi good. Welcoming owner.
