Reviews for Ledra Maleme Hotel
Review 1:The only thing I did not feel comfortable with was the very noticeable presence of cats with feline herpes that were consistently stationed outside the room. The kittens and healthy cats were adorable, and I love cats, even have one of my own, but it hurt me to see these kitties hurting and with multiple open wounds so close to each other where they could spread the infection, and I wanted to do something about it but could not. If someone gave me the chance to start a small foundation in Greece right now, I would ask that I receive help in getting these cats proper vet treatment, or at least a safe, clean facility to control the disease and encourage a healthier population of animals.
Review 2:I loved the location a short walk from a lovely restaurant/bar and the beach. The access to the main street of Maleme was also convenient, and there was a bus stop nearby (5 minutes walk) that takes you to Falassarna and Elafonisi as well as some other seaside locations. The room itself was adorable (not too small, just the right size for a solo traveller or couple of friends or romantci getaway. Small kitchenette had all the basic necessities, and whatever was not there could be asked for of the kind and helpful staff up front, who provided a wine bottle opener upon request. They helped with booking a ferry, and the internet and available computers made the stay much easier. Great little pool and restaurant area for a morning coffee, and the access to the prettiest parts of Crete was ideal. Would definitely go back again. Very down-to-earth owners who follow a laid back and mellow lifestyle. If you travel in a hurry, pick some other city.
Review 3:Our room was in the main old building (from 1890, as Adonis told us). The room was very big even for 3 people as we were, with a nice view to the pool and sea. We enjoyed the view and the large balcony but we have to deal with old plumbing, so had to wipe the floor in the bathroom after each use of the shower (a mop was strategically placed on the stairways for the use of all guests). We told the management about it, but actually don't think they could fix something except massive plumbing work in the whole building. Also, there was an intense mold smell in the room, - expected for an over one hundred y.o building, but faded after we left all windows opened for two days. Pool view rooms - they have indeed nice view, but are also affected by the loud evening music at the pool bar, until over midnight, so if you plan to sleep early, choose another room. One night we finally decide to notice the management and asked Adonis to lower the music volume, which he did immediately and we really appreciated cause desperately needed to sleep. Anyhow, the hotel is expanding, next year they will have new extra building, so plenty rooms to choose from. Minus points are not so big, we really enjoyed the charm of this place and its people.
Review 4:Lovely family run hotel located on a quiet green location in Maleme, still very close to a nice beach with free sun beds and plenty of taverns serving delicious Cretan food. Free Wifi and AC in the room. Free parking inside the premises. Great hospitality from the hotel management. Special thanks to Adonis - co-owner, and Stela, a very friendly Albanian lady, naturalized in Crete for over two decades who took care of our room, softer pillows and extra blanket provided on our request. Garbage cleaned every day, linens and towels every 2 or 3 days as promised and on request. For breakfast there are few choices - continental, English and Cretan, a must! (goat yogurt with fresh fruits and honey). Also try Mama's special at the hotel restaurant and don't miss her Cretan Salad. The pool is more that enough for the guests and the water was daily tested. Cooking facilities in the room are basic, but enough for fast cooking. Michela at the front desk was very nice and efficient lady, making the atmosphere like home. Overall, very nice place to relax. Customers are mid aged and over, so we enjoyed not being bothered by loud behaviour. It's definitely not the party type hotel, and this is exactly what we hoped for. We will book again for sure.
Review 5:Nothing !
Review 6:Excellent position for beaches and buses to Chania and Kolambari. Very friendly hotel run by family all of whom were brilliant. Cleanliness of room outstanding, white crisp cotton sheets and fluffy white towels. Our balcony looked over pool, mountains and sea. Amazing value for money. Will definitely go back.
Review 7:No promised internet in our premises.
Review 8:Very good village relax on the sea coast, but I would not like to stay there for a long time, just for a few days, as we did. Nothing to do so much in the village in evenings. Nice people working in the hotel, a good pool.
Review 9:Nothing negative about the hotel. But Maleme is not a very attractive place overall.
Review 10:A family-run hotel. Lovely pool, bar & also very close to beach.
Review 11:This is a very nice hotel, the rooms are very large, the beds are comfortable, everything is very clean, including the bathroom. The swimming pool is really nice and the food is fresh, and home-made everyday.
Review 12:-breakfast -no wifi in my room ( but it's ok, no wifi on hiliday is good for you)
Review 13:-room facilities -balcony -pool -clean hotel area -exotic trees, and flowers -distance to bus stop and beach
Review 14:Wi-fi in the room was really slow, sometimes did not work at all. Sound isolation is poor. Instead of double bed, there were two joined single beds. The town itself is not very nice, but if you have a car, it's not a problem.
Review 15:Overall experience was good. Very clean rooms, helpful staff. Very good location to explore Western Crete.
Review 16:nothing
Review 17:Perfect place for quiet holidays, very nice family hotel to visit west Crete and places like Chania, Rethymno Falasarna, Balos, Elafonisi etc. The manager Antonis is very helpful and nothing is a problem, You can ask him for help with car rental, he can also recommend to you interesting places to visit. There is very good local meals, cooking by Mama ;-) Thanks a lot and see You agan ;)
Review 18:We asked to change the room because of shower problem. In the second room the shower was working but the shower door again it was not working. - The light chandelier is covering half of the TV screen in our room, which is very funny because it is not possible to use the big screen TV. - WiFi is not working in the room.
Review 19:The beach is walking distance and it is amazing. Lidl is just 2-3 km away. Staff is very polite.
Review 20:At least in April, the place Maleme as such is not very nice looking. But if you would like to stay at the hotel or you have a car, it's perfect.
Review 21:Spacious room with everything you could need, like a kitchen, balcony; very clean The breakfast is great and comes with greek yogurt with fruits :)
Review 22:We had to sleep on two single beds joined together. Due to the fact we are a younger couple, still freshly in love, that ment jamming on one of the beds, which was slightly uncomfortable. That calls for minus points in 'comfort'. Hot water was not always available (evenings). As for the wi-fi...as if we didn't have it, the signal was bad.
Review 23:The staff was really nice and helpful, they are really trying to make you feel good, room very big and clean. The price was OK.
Review 24:The breakfast was very good but was the same all days.
Review 25:This Hotel has a nice location to the people who are thinking to hire a car. With car is close and easy to go to Elafonisi and Balos, in my opinion the best places of the island! The Hotel has a friendly team with a family concept, it's a quiet place attended by people who are 40-60 years old. Nice place to rest.
Review 26:Poor wi-fi signal in the room, but it was pretty good in the balcony or near the pool.
Review 27:Very warm staff, reasonable prices in the restaurant and pool bar. Very good choice for this price.
Review 28:Relaxed and friendly. Often had pool to ourselves. Loved the friendly dogs. Staff reacted promptly if there was an issue in our apartment. Was a perfect location for us visiting family who lived in the area.
Review 29:absolutely nothing!!!!
Review 30:This is a family driven hotel with the great owner. The studios are very clean, spacious and nicely arranged. The biggest strenght of this place is the atmospher and the special ambiance created by its owner and family. Delicious food prepared by the mama of the owner, every day different tranditional cretan speciality made our stay in this hotel one of the bests ever. Thank you Adonis for everything, we definitely come back to you next holidays:-)
Review 31:Great room for a good price! Nice location near the beach! The location makes it closer to the beautiful beaches on the west of crete. Adonis was very attentive to us and interesting to talk with while eating at the hotel's restaurant. Great pool for morning swimming!
Review 32:We stayed at Ledra Maleme ,Chania, for slightly over a week , apart from the quiet area, the helpful receptionist and the partially accommodating manager/owner, the overall experience in the establishment was poor and unprofessional , not to mention a staff member that was rude , unwelcoming and forcefully doing his job. Out of the 8 days, towels and bed linen were changed only once as well as the cleaning of the room, there was also a leak in the room, which we pointed out and was completely disregarded. The rooms didn't lock from the outside, exposing our valuables to whomever pleased to intrude and hot water became a rare luxury only accessible in the day time. The basic and essential services that should've been already provided became a thing of constant bother and I felt bad asking for, because of the attitude I kept receiving. In a nutshell, I think this establishment is addressed to people with low expectations in the hospitality industry.
Review 33:Hot water seemed to be a bit hit and miss in the morning and not many cooking utensils for a self catering apartment but that all added to the Cretan adventure they are easy going people !!
Review 34:Easy going, laid back with great food from the mamma in the kitchen. Lovely pool and pool bar, frosted glasses to! Greek night is good fun and good chance to meet fellow guests. Great location for exploring surrounding areas i.e the mountains and neighbouring quiet beaches.5mins from the beach which was pebbly but virtually empty, buy cheap sand shoes from supermarket and your laughing.
Review 35:More variety in jams for breakfast would be appreciated.
Review 36:Maleme although not a great beach itself is a good starting place for day trips around the prefecture of Chania. The hotel owners and the staff were extremely friendly and helpfull and the swimming pool great for our 10 year old daughter.
Review 37:Pozdrowienia dla Adonisa i rodziny
Review 38:No bad experiences.
Review 39:The location was good for us as we used to live in the area. We thought the hotel was very good value for money.
Review 40:Really nice area!!
Review 41:Child's pool not very clean.
Review 42:Everyone very nice, quiet surrounding.
Review 43:nice and quiet atmosphear owner super nice very cute hotel
Review 44:very good hotel. excellent location. service friendly and nice. I highly recommend. the best holiday we have ever had.
Review 45:free wifi included but very slow and out of range.
Review 46:Friendly stuff. Excellent, big room! peaceful and quiet.
Review 47:WC makes noise, breakfast takes time to prepare, swimming pool very small
Review 48:Spacious bedroom, quiet, proximity to the beach
Review 49:Not nice beach and Maleme vilagge.
Review 50:Nice pool, balcony, personal, spacious room, ezcellent wi-fi.
Review 51:Personel, basen, wyposażenie, lokalizacja.
Review 52:- wifi in our part of the hotel was not working
Review 53:- very nice people - big, nice rooms - equipped kitchen - amazing food
Review 54:The stuff was super nice and friendly, the food was very good as well. I was very satisfied with everything,it was a lovely stay.
Review 55:Nice place - appartments and surrounding (pool and whole complex area)
Review 56:Bad noise isolation, poor kitchen equipment (no small bowls, only one tea spoon).
Review 57:Friendly staff, good food, tidy rooms, playground for small kids.
Review 58:small things: poor quality of kettle, running water tasted not good, so you have to buy bottled one.
Review 59:Room was very good. Breakfest excellent.
Review 60:Noisy taps in toilet in all rooms
Review 61:Location at the end of city and close to sandy beach. Nice service and family atmosphere .
Review 62:Internet not working
Review 63:The room was very clean and spacious, nicely decorated. It is a great quiet hotel to rest after a long day of sightseeing.
Review 64:Breakfast start time (9.30am) was too late if going out for day trip.
Review 65:Staff was great and helpfull
Review 66:The constant music in the bar area. These days everyone listens to their personal music choices using headphones. I feel that 8 in the morning is too early for disco music to begin especially if it continues throughout the day.
Review 67:The over all cleanliness and good facilities in the room. Close enough to the sea yet in a secluded quiet area. Family orientated lovely well tended gardens and flowers. Greek experience with plentiful breakfasts and meals available at all times of day. Friendly staff who looked after us well. We will definitely book to stay next year.
Review 68:There's no wifi in the room as stated. And the wifi provided in the reception is terrible. Staff could be more helpful. They had no interest to do anything unless it was something they made profit of, like buying something in the bar.
Review 69:Swimming pool was nice
Review 70:Maleme is a good location for exploring Western Crete, there was parking on site, nicely decorated room in an older style with comfortable bed, good food available, great night with live local music on Tuesday night BBQ night; a good budget option.
Review 71:There was constant problem with hot water, so it isn't good place for people with children because the showers were very cold. The place is far from any evening activities, so it could be boring for those who wants to go for a walk in the evening and be among others. You will have to have car and drive to some other place for evening activity.
Review 72:The hotel is quite clean, easy to find, not very far from the small beach.
Review 73:Our upstairs neighbours' every movement could be heard, fortunately they didn't go to bed too late and didn't get up too early.
Review 74:If you want to get away from the rush and you have a rental car, this hotel is for you! Within 17km from Chania, the hotel is close enough to go shopping, visit the beautiful port of Chania and also for a trip out to Ellafonisi, yet, set in a lovely little town, it was ideal for us who wanted to avoid the maddening chaos of the city. Mama's dinners and lunches were excellent and the owners were lovely - super-friendly with plenty of chit-chats, free drinks and desserts, we were totally spoiled! We adore the hotel-dog, Sophie, who is a social butterfly and pops in every morning to greet you with real Cretan-hospitality. The room was massive with a little kitchen/kettle, so we could do lunches on a self-catering basis. The hotel is a short stroll to a stunning beach, past a paddock with some goats, plenty of poppies and jasmine in full bloom - absolutely idylic!
Review 75:Hot water was not available early morning, becoming available only after a staff person came in to work and turned water heater on.
Review 76:Staff was very responsive and very friendly and courteous.
Review 77:The wifi was not to depend on, but worked from time to time
Review 78:Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed the stay very much and had a wonderful relaxing holiday.
Review 79:Resort quiet, not wanting or needing loud clubs but a wider choice of places to eat. Beach pebbly. We visited mid April and Maleme was like a ghost town.
Review 80:Fairly small family run hotel, large spacious rooms, staff helpful and welcoming, rooms cleaned daily, good food, clean pool area, traditional feel.
Review 81:The security was very lax. Each time a cleaner came into our room they failed to double lock the door again and on one occasion only half locked the balcony door.
Review 82:The live music was a treat. You don't get this in very many places. The bins were emptied almost every day.
Review 83:no WiFi in room stone beach
Review 84:Excellent value for money, nice, clean room, very quite place, near bus station, helpful staff. I really enjoy staying there:)
Review 85:The stuff is very nice and helpful. Food is wonderful, rooms clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed our stay there so much! Already looking forward to come back.
Review 86:Maleme itself seems not to be a visit worth (at least in early april), but it's a good place for trips in the western part of crete...
Review 87:+ nice spacy rooms + nice setting of the hotel / pool / restaurant +++ very friendly and helpful personal service (I don't want to say "staff") +++ good food at the restaurant, just as at home (if you are at home in crete ;-)
Review 88:We were the first people to arrive in the season so it felt like the were a little unprepared. (April 1st-8th) They were still doing works on the property (fitting lights, fixing toilets, etc) which was a bit off putting and made unwanted noise. The pool was freezing cold, wi fi was patchy and no double beds. As said, It may of been the time we went, however, we did feel a bit unwanted and in the way occasionally when by the pool. It did seem to be a meeting place for every part of their family and then some which was not relaxing at all.
Review 89:Very nice family run place. Location was great if you have a car as it is very close to a nice beach, a quick drive to shops and not too far from either Chania or Kissamos. Nice spacious rooms. Pool/bar/sun bed area is nice. Ideal for couples. Able to do late check out. Very good value for money as a budget holiday.
Review 90:We felt very welcome when we arrived. The hotel gave us better room than expected and we were very happy with it. Short distance to a beach, shops and restaurants. Nice place to be with children. Even Wi-Fi didn't work smoothly it was free. The place was really nice and worth for every penny.
Review 91:The family-run, great freedom. Rooms tastefully decorated. Close to the beach. Around a large selection of restaurants and shops. Hotel food delicious, traditional and not expensive. Quiet and calm neighborhood. Mniejsce Good for families with children. Service friendly and helpful. Good place for different types of trips by car or bus.
Review 92:This is a fab 2* hotel/apartments, excellent value for money, would stay again, no problem with car parking, walking distance to some excellent restaurants.
Review 93:i will let you know if i think of something
Review 94:all the staff are friendly and very helpful~rooms are clean and comfortable ~food is good~location is good, quiet but near to shops, bars, and restaurants~beach 5min walk~close to bus for trips out.stayed at ledra three times now, looking forward to the fourth time, cant fault it.
Review 95:The 3rd bed in a studio advertised for 3 adults is not a standard bed but more of an extra bed with very thin mattress!
Review 96:Spacious room, nice balcony, and pool area. Nice architecture of the buildings. Excellent value for money as to our stay and price in May.
Review 97:If I had to say one thing : there was no double beds, only twin beds.
Review 98:A very nice family-owned hotel. Good location, not far from Chania (having a car is mandatory if you want to go for tourism). Calm, close to the sea. Staff incredibly kind and helpful. The room was big, and clean. Really nothing to say, the value for money was just amazing.
Review 99:Beach is huge but only pebbles (rocks). We took the 15 min bus to Agia Marina for bathing.
Review 100:Very friendly staff and peaceful, quiet location. We had read the reviews and got exactly what we wanted. Pool area was very clean and nice and the grand mother in the restaurant made great home made food. Room was spacious and clean, but bathrooms were a little run down. Excellent value for money, though. Perfect for a a quiet holiday for couples and families.
Review 101:Nothing.
Review 102:Great hosts, it's truly a family run hotel that is great value for money, in a quiet village, close enough to the beach, has a pool and is very kid friendly.
Review 103:Amazing dishes. Friendly and family atmophera. Friendly place for families with children as well as for groups of friends. Hotel located near to the see. Extent service.
Review 104:Appartment can be a bit noisy depending on neighbours, however that is with more places in general.
Review 105:The rooms are very spacious, clean, beds are comfortable and a very good size. Room is decorated nicely which gives it a personal touch and very welcome feeling. Pool is a good size, staff is friendly and helpfull.
Review 106:A great small hotel in a quiet town. Stayed in September, so nowhere was busy. The staff at the hotel were great - very friendly and welcoming and great hospitality at the bar/taverna in the evenings.
Review 107:I disliked nothing, you just have to know before booking that it's not in Chania and that Maleme is a small town with not so much to do. If you expect to be in Chania, you will be disappointed. And you have to rent a car.
Review 108:The rooms are good and the swimming pool provided a nice alternative for the day the weather did not allow us to go swimming in the sea. The staff is helpful and they even let us check-out late since they didn't need our room for the very next day. Also the location, outside Chania and so close to the main road, allowed us to save time on our visits to the remote (and best) beaches.
Review 109:A few days there were some Greek families and that time was very noisytill late night.
Review 110:Very friendly personnel and atmosphere like in a family. Good swimmingpool and close to the beach. Every day cleaning service and often changeof lines. The Maleme is quiet village on the contrary to overcrowdedPlatanias.
Review 111:The staff was great and the atmosphere was really good
Review 112:No Internet in rooms. Very slow Wi-Fi in restaurant.
Review 113:Perfectly situated, close to gravel beach. Very friendly and always helpful Staff.
Review 114:Nice people, nice room, wonderful view (nr 48), quiet, clean, a perfect place for holidys in Crete !
Review 115:value for money
Review 116:sunbeds too near edge of pool. noise from flushing toilets from rooms above.
Review 117:apartment pool friendly staff
