Reviews for High Dalby House

Review 1:No down sides to our stay.

Review 2:We stayed in one of the cottages and couldn't have wished for a more comfortable and enjoyable stay. Everything needed to make a good few days break. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:An away from it all stay in the heart of Dolby Forest, perfect for walking and cycling or just chilling out and yet only a short drive down the road to Thornton le Dale

Review 5:Superb bedroom& bathroom, owners absolutely excellent hosts. This is a "creme-de-la-creme" place to stay, every tiny detail had been thought of. We would be delighted to visit again.

Review 6:Just returned from a 2 night break at this beautiful place and would highly recommend and most definitely return. It's surrounded by acres of forest to walk, cycle or just admire. The hotel is gorgeous and immaculately clean. We stayed in The Fountains room with a stunning en suite and views over the garden. At breakfast we met Sandra and had the most amazing Yorkshire breakfast. The location is great and the trip on the steam train from Pickering to whitby is a must but make sure you get an early train to visit the little towns along the way. Nothing was any trouble for this lovely hard working couple who obviously enjoy making your stay here unforgettable.

Review 7:Secure bike storage, cleanliness and very modern room. The wonderful breakfast that kept us mountain biking all day and the attention to detail. The pre arrival email was a perfect example of this. It's a five minute pedal to Dalby Forest visitors centre and the start of the green, blue and red trails.

Review 8:The WiFi was excellent in the lounge; but terribly poor in the bedroom

Review 13:Sandra and David who run high dalby house are two of the nicest, helpful people you could wish to meet. Their breakfasts are one of the best ive ever had and the service was incredibly warm. The fountain room was lavish and impeccably clean. High dalby is a peaceful relaxing place with tranquil acres of picturesque land to explore. So much so I asked my girlfriend to marry me there! Would highly recommend high dalby house to one and all.

Review 14:A stunning property set in beautiful surroundings. We were given a warm welcome with tea and a selection of cakes, most welcome after a long journey. Our room (Fountains) was as described. Very very comfortable with glorious views across the garden down to the lake. Breakfast was a feast, with a good choice of quality food. David Sandra & James were excellent hosts. We would recommend this property to stay for a great base to explore the surrounding area & beautiful coastline

Review 20:Everything about the hosts and the facilities was exceptional. We were glad we booked for three nights as we were able to enjoy this beautiful place. Thank you to Sandra and David for the wonderful breakfasts and their friendly company.

Review 21:No children allowed, two people maximum in a room, to be told when arrived. I was asked to book two rooms for 5 people consisting of a couple with their 2 young children (aged 6&8) and their male cousin, I was forced to pay the full price of £150 for another available room (could be more), when arriving around 10pm, since this property is the only available starred hotel within 10 miles of radius.

Review 22:The design of rooms, and the hospitality of the owners, but...

Review 81:One of the very best places to stay in the world!! everything about it is top class, and the hosts are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. Book the fountains room, the view is incredible. We can't wait to go back. ENJOY!!!

Welcome drink and cake were provided with a smile and helpful information. the gardens were lovely and views across the forest breathtaking. The rooms are luxurious and have everything you could need.

Review 83:You could not ask for better hosts, they were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was very well presented and the bathroom was fantastic and was in keeping with the property, and would certainly stay there again

Review 84:Having to go home.

Review 85:Perfect hosts, welcoming, friendly, helpful and informative but never intrusive. A lovely room (Fountains), very well executed stylish decor and quality furniture, spotlessly clean with a large, comfortably appointed and finished en suite bathroom and a great view of the beautiful location and grounds set in a valley in Dalby Forest. Wide choice of breakfast goodies the, cooked options where superb. Staying here was a real pleasure, a rare combination of wonderful hosts and an exceptional house. Laying in bed watching the sunrise light up the autumn colours of the valley was magical. We definitely intend to stay again, but for longer next time.

Review 86:N/A

Review 87:Our hosts Sandra & David were fantastic, the breakfast was delicious our room was spotless with a private bathroom, all in all a brilliant place to stay Mark & dawn

Review 88:The shower was so slippy we couldn't use it, a shower mat would have helped. The cooked breakfast could have been better. Quality of ingredients, e.g. bread used for toast, rather poor. Bacon was tough, black pudding tough and scrambled eggs not appealing to look at, were they done in the microwave?. In view of the amount charged for the room, quality of cooking could have been better and also ingredients used.

Review 89:The two hosts were very friendly and helpful. We liked the way the bedroom was furnished. We liked the conservatory. Layout of tables in the dining room was very attractive.

Review 90:Somewhat tricky to find, an explicit map from the booking agent would have been a good idea. The 'sat-nav' was useless. We do possess a new one too!

Review 91:Beautiful home in wonderful forest location. The hosts Sandra and David, did everything possible to ensure an enjoyable stay, including a glass of cava, and cake, on arrival..

Review 92:Having to leave

Review 93:Excellent from start to finish. The welcome glass of bubbly on arrival to the excellent breakfast in the morning. Perfect hosts, wonderful gardens, wonderful place. One of the most peaceful sleeps we have had in a long time. Thankyou.

Review 94:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 95:Attention to detail throughout ensures a high standard of accommodation. Superb breakfasts. Helpful, friendly owners. Lovely setting in extensive grounds. Tennis court available to guests.

Review 96:Peaceful,tranquil surroundings, beautiful landscaped gardens. Beautifully decorated with attention to detail definitely 5 star accommodation. Hosts Sandra and David are a wonderful couple. Will definitely be returning.

Review 97:Nothing to complain about.

Review 98:A fantastic, luxuriously comfortable, quiet break. Lovely people running the hotel made us feel very welcome and the room which we were given was beautiful. The surroundings were quiet which is exactly what we wanted. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 99:There was nothing about High Dalby House I didn't like.

Review 100:I loved the little cottage which had everything one would need for a short stay or 1-2 weeks. Fully equipped kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave, dishwasher; washing machine etc. Comfortable bed; lovely bathroom & good decor throughout. Ann and David, the owners were really lovely people and helpful. The walk around the private lake is lovely. Cottage is lovely but unsuitable for children as there is only one double room but also the lake area is unsuitable for children as there are pathways from which they could slip.

Review 101:Everything but in particular: Warm welcome - we arrived slightly late and the owner was kind enough to book us a table at a nearby pub and then ferry us there and back - nice touch Rooms - Rarely do you get a 5 * that lives up to it's billing but this is an exception. Usually the rooms are a bit dated but not in this case. They have recently renovated it and the quality and attention to detail are fantastic. Food - quality breakfast with wide choice from cooked cereals to cheese and meats and a full English. Setting - set within Dalby forest it was beautiful. The views from our room were brilliant and the grounds were ideal for a nice relaxing walk. Overall a nice relaxing weekend with great weather to match. Would recommend to anyone and will try and get back in the summer.

Review 102:David the proprietor was very helpful and friendly when we arrived booking us a table at the local pub. The ground were quiet and relaxing and the accommodation was beautiful. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 103:All good.

Review 104:Everything!

Review 105:Everything, a piece of heaven for us to enjoy on earth

Review 106:The only improvement would be a real wood stove!

Review 107:Very well equipped cottage. Nice and warm given the cold weather outside. Comfortable bed.

Review 108:Overpriced and breakfast should have been better for the money

Review 109:Fantastic location, nice people and lovely grounds
