Reviews for Guesthouse Amanites

Review 1:There was nothing negative.

Review 2:The room was clean, warm, comfortable and nicely decorated with a wonderful view to Dimitsana.Mr.Aris and his wife were very helpful as they gave us useful tips about places we could visit and they also offered homemade breakfast. The guesthouse is situated at the center of Dimitsana but it still has its own parking space.

Review 3:The only thing that we could find is that the shower cabinet in our room was not taking in the water as fast.

Review 4:The hospitality of the owners was fantastic. The guesthouse has amazing views, is very very clean and offers a lovely breakfast with local produce. Well done to the owners!

Review 5:Amanites is a cozy family run guesthouse. We felt very much at home with panos and his family who were kind and welcoming. They helped us find a hiking trail and arranged for a taxi to take us around. Would definitely recommend this place!

Review 6:Wonderful hospitality when we arrived. Felt like we were visiting family. Attention to detail. Aria and his wife, and their assistant Maria are wonderful hosts and were extremely helpful in providing information on hikes and sights. Easy walking distance to the village center. Parking dicey on the street but it worked out ok. Bed was very comfortable, everything near perfect. Hosts go out of their way to make your stay be a really good one. Room had nice views of the village and surrounding countryside. Since we arrived a little early, Aria moved us into a bit nicer corner room. We'd definitely stay again and will recommend it to any friends who might be visiting that region.

Review 7:Nothing really. When you are driving in on the main road, look for a road going fairly steeply UP hill near the middle of town(where taverna's begin). 75 meters up the road goes forward or switchback right. Make that right, drive 30 meters and you've arrived.

Review 8:Meticulously maintained lodging. Owners are very attentive (too attentive?) to any needs. The breakfast was expansive and included home made hot dishes each morning. Sparking clean everywhere!

Review 9:The room was very convenient, warm and with great views from the balcony. The breakfast was also very good. But the highlight must be the uniquely friendly owners. Very helpful advice and assistance for my travels in the area (including a long hike up the Lousius gorge). Dimitsana is a great place. I ended up staying 3 nights. Hope to return some day.

Review 10:We felt really welcome! We received very useful information about hiking, opening times of monasteries and taxi's. Dimitsana is an excellent place for a short visit. Wifi was very good. Nice breakfast and nice room.

Review 11:Nothing - everything was good.

Review 12:Very good location. Panos and his staff were wonderful hosts - very friendly and helpful. The room had a balcony with nice views and was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and varied. The whole guesthouse was very well built and designed to give character and comfort. There is also parking available under cover.

Review 13:Absolutely perfect. Very, very pleasant and friendly hotel. Comfortable rooms, ample breakfast, an amazing place with its surroundings, good tips on nearby sights from the owner of the hotel Mr. Panos. Safe parking for our bike. We will come again next time.

Review 14:Great guesthouse and generous host - rooms were beautifully presented and very comfortable. Breakfasts excellent. Panos gave up good tips on local sites and paid attention to every detail, including giving us a handful of fruit as he farewelled us after three lovely days in his village.

Review 15:The family who ran it were exceedingly hospitable and helpful in every way. Great breakfast. We stayed two nights and would highly recommend Aminites Guest House.

Review 16:Bit of trouble finding it.. The map needs to be updated but locals were very helpful when we first arrived.

Review 17:Breakfast buffet with choice of homemade Greek food was sensational. Panos was very helpful with activities and way to Athens via the. Scenic route. Verandah and views were a delight. WTer museum was fascinating and. Worth a hour or so of time. Very descriptive of the artisan past of the town.

Review 18:none

Review 19:Cleanliness, great hospitality, homemade treats at breakfast, excellent service and very useful travelling and sightseeing advice!!! The owners treat all of their guests with respect and unique kindness

Review 20:great hospitality! Panos the owner is the most kind person, always willing to help and was very helpful with advice and tips for travelling around Dimitsana. Facility is very clean and has a nice mountain spirit. The kids also enjoyed very much!

Review 21:Easy access to the village ,amazing info of the area and great views, nice and quiet. The owners were so helpful, wealth of info and were so friendly, would definatly reccomend this place. thanks guys

Review 22:The owner treated us like family. The place is spotless. Quaint mountain village. We slept with the French doors open , with a screen, and were awakened by church bells and sheep. More than anything the host is wonderful.

Review 23:My car was scratched by someone else getting out of the parking garage and I didnt notice until about half an hour after we had left.

Review 24:Good position near city center but still quite quiet.

Review 25:Nothing to dislike at all

Review 26:Aris , Lena and Maria are the best of hosts, welcoming, helpful and caring. The house is beautiful and in a wonderful position in the town.this part of Greece is full of treasures and aris is very knowledgable about them all and extremely helpful in advising what to see. We will definitely pay a return visit to this area and to this guest house. .

Review 27:Very friendly and helpful host and a comfortable and tasteful adaptation of an old building close to the centre of the village. Plenty of choice for eating.

Review 28:The room had apparently not been used in some time and was quite chilly. The heating system was turned off for the season. Difficult for someone who has Rheumatoid Arthritis to manage. We asked about heat and were very strongly discouraged to have it, but told we could if absolutely necessary, but we should only ask if in dire need - so we felt guilty for asking and just managed without it but were far too cold when in the room.

Review 29:Beautiful rooms and breakfast / lounge area with nice views over the village. Very clean and comfortable (except for the room temperature). Excellent breakfast including some homemade items. Owners/staff very friendly and helpful. Because of medical problems we needed a room with as few stairs as possible, so instead of the double room we booked (2nd floor), they gave us a triple room on the 1st floor. There is private parking on the ground level - much appreciated since it is difficult to park on the narrow streets. Easy walk to several tavernas - even for someone with mobility problems.

Review 30:Few restaurants were open mid-week with limited menus.

Review 31:Spacious room with balcony and superb view of the mountains. Warm, friendly and knowledgeable hosts, felt at home immediately. Homemade breakfast. Parking under the guesthouse.

Review 32:The family was so kind, made you feel home, carried the suitcase upstairs, made very nice breakfasts and were able to tell us about anything in the neighbourhood of the town (a.o. hiking trails, monasteries, nice places for lunch/diner)

Review 33:We liked the friendly, family atmosphere, the view from the room, the quietness. The owners were very helpful in giving us information about the area. Everything was perfect.

Review 34:None

Review 35:The warm welcome with very detailed advice on travel and sights as well as on the restaurant options in the village. The rooms and the facilities. The breakfast was also excellent. The location and the view is excellent both for the walking distance to the town as well as for the short distance to the famous monasteries and the water museum.

Review 36:The staff are great! helped us with all our questions and problems. Made us fill like home. the guesthouse itself clean and very organized. I turely recommend stay in this guesthouse!

Review 37:We found it a little expensive. Everything else was perfect.

Review 38:The hotel is very nice located and has its own parking and a beautifule view. Excellent service (very helpful and friendly) and very tasty breakfast! It looks exactly like the pictures in booking, if not better :)

Review 39:The guesthouse is at an excellent location, overseeing the village and the mountains. The room was very nice, cozy and warm, with modern bathroom and independent heating. A small balcony was an added plus, although it was a bit cold for us to use it :) The breakfast was lovely and plentiful, many things being hand made. And above all, our hosts were very helpful, doing everything to make us feel welcomed, from helping us with our luggage to providing the best sightseeing tips we could get. We'd definitely go back!

Review 40:Nothing. Highly recommended!

Review 41:Comfortable rooms filled with character. Very warm, friendly and helpful hospitality. Superb home-cooked breakfast Lovely village

Review 42:We went to Greece for our honeymoon and spent two nights in Dimitsana. It's such a beautiful area and the guest house was amazing, beyond words. The staff were very kind, friendly and attentive.Even gave advice on activities to do on the day. Would def recommend.

Review 43:The father-and-son staff were welcoming and helpful. The location of the hotel was both scenic - beautiful view of the village and mountains - and convenient - easy walk through town to restaurants, etc. Dimitsana is a very special place and Amanites is the perfect spot to enjoy it.

Review 44:No complaints.

Review 45:Aris and Lena renovated this ancient family home into a guest house that's comfortable, sophisticated, and beautifully furnished. Hospitality included helping us park our rental car in a tight spot, customized hand-drawn directions for day trips, and home-baked savory and sweet treats for the breakfast buffet. Our room had a balcony overlooking the town and the winding road to Dimitsana. All in all, our stay at Guesthouse Amanites was delightful.

Review 46:Very beautiful guesthouse with great view, very clean and spacious rooms with a internet router in its room(rare in Greece). The photos don't lie.Little details in rooms and in charming reception-dining room make the difference. The hosts, Mr Aris and Ms Lena, are the most kindly hosts ever. Ask their advice for trips and food and you will be suprised. There is also a parking area which is very important in Dimitsana. Everything is on walking distance. It felt like home. Higly recommended, would visit again for sure.

Review 47:The longstanding rainfall; you can't blame the family for that.

Review 48:The vieuw over the valley is beautiful. The family running the guesthouse does an excellent job.

Review 49:Bests hosts we came across (among many excellent) on our holiday in Greece - genuinely caring about all aspects of our stay. Fantastic views from the balconies

Review 50:Nothing really. The steps were hard to climb with our suitcases, but Aris helped us with this as well. Do not expect elevators in this area anyways.

Review 51:Mr. Aris received us with the highest level of hospitality one could imagine, helping us with anything we needed like directions to recommended restaurants or to the trip to the gorge and monasteries. The room was fabulous, with an excellent view of the town from the balcony. Breakfast was good an generous. This guesthouse was the perfect place to stay at during our first day to the Peloponnese!

Review 52:Nothing.

Review 53:Once we'd finished parking safely on the steep and narrow road below the hotel, the owner insisted on carrying our bags to our room on the top floor. The room was very well equipped (we could easily have self catered in there) with a great view up to the hilltop village. Breakfast was very good, with a wide choice and lots of local and homemade foodstuffs. The owners were very proud of Dimitsana, and could not have been friendlier or more helpful, in spite of their limited English (much better than our Greek!).

Review 54:Nothing

Review 55:Loved the location - in town yet looking out over mountains and part of the town. Loved the old building restored with care and beautifully maintained with plants and seasonal flowers in the dining room. The reception area is also a charming dining room and gathering place where several groups of us coincided in the early evening, and were offered drinks and nuts by our hosts. This encouraged some very pleasant conversations and almost a sense of being at a party in a private home. Very friendly atmosphere and abundant breakfast. Lots of helpful advice about the area from owners, a couple completely devoted to the details of maintaining a successful and charming hotel, as well as the happiness of their guests..

Review 56:Imagine your grandfather welcoming you in Greece, imagine a marvelous breakfast made by your grandmother, imagine a cozy and beautiful room, with a wall of stone. Now go to the balcony and enjoy the view of the green mountains, the millenian kastro, breath the pure air and enjoy the silence and tranquility of being in one of the most welcoming and charming hotels we've ever encountered in Greece (and it was our third time there!). Ares and Helen are the perfect example of what it greek hospitality means, completely focused on turning your visit as great and as pleaseant as it can be.

Review 57:all was perfect!!!

Review 58:Lovely hotel run by a very friendly and helpful couple who own the place. This was once the family home. The gentleman who owns this hotel, was actually born and raised here. Several years ago, he changed his family home into a bed and breakfast, taking great pride in all the special touches. Service was perfection in a very quaint and historic setting. View is breathtaking. Rooms are very nice with all you could need. Breakfast was a feast. All in all, a very special treat.

Review 59:The location of the guest house is superb. All though I am greek born leaving for the last 45 years in the US I had never visited this part of the Peloponnese. Dimitsana is located at over a thousand feet altitude and the guest house towards the end of the village. The views and the quality of the air is superb. Above all the friendliness and politesse of the couple who owns and runs the place Aris and Lena impressed both me and my Swiss companion. The place is spotless clean and the breakfast amazing with a large variety of local delicacies made by Lena. The rooms very clean and well appointed keeping to the traditional style the whole house is built by. Excelent value for the money. We are big travelers and been to all variety of lodgings all over the world. We have never been impressed as much as we were with the Guesthouse Amanites. Perfect in every way. Tatiana and Beat

Review 60:It would be useful an elevator, but the family was there to help.

Review 61:Great atmosphere given by the lovely family running the business taking really care about their guests. Room was nicely decorated, comfortable and clean.

Review 62:nothing! we loved the whole experience.

Review 63:We absolutely loved our hosts Aris and Elena. Aris was an encyclopaedia of knowledge and information, extremely helpful, eager to help and just a great personality. We enjoyed drinking a Tsipouro with him in the evening and exchanging stories. Whenever we asked him, he drew us maps, gave us clear ideas where to hike or to visit and what these places were like, he enjoyed a good chat (his English is good!) and we felt completely at home with these lovely people. We will definitely come back - to see Aris and Lena again but also for mor hikes in this utterly beautiful place!

Review 64:Parking is the only thing that is a little tricky. But the hosts helped us back in and out, so it was all good. There are no elevators, so you have to lug all your bags up three flights of stairs to get to the top floor.

Review 65:This was hands down the nicest place we stayed in all of Greece. The hosts are charming and very friendly and beyond helpful. And the rooms are just gorgeous, spacious and comfortable. Seriously great value for money.

Review 66:Bed very hard for us, others may not find this a problem.

Review 67:Lovely guesthouse in spectacular location above the town of Dimitsana. Warm welcome with a delightful host. Extremely helpful for information on the area and for short itinery ideas. Car parking space provided. No hesitation in going back to this guesthouse or to recomend it to others. Brilliant!

Review 68:Amanites is a great place. Mr Aris and his wife are excellent hosts, kind, polite and helpful with anything you might need. Mr Aris will give you a map and suggest various daily trips, depending on what you want. The view from the room was suberb and the room itself was really clean and spacious. The location is great and it has a parking, which is really helpful in Dimitsana.

Review 91:Nothing not to like!!

Review 92:- Friendly staff - Superb view - Excellent location - On site parking - Excellent breakfast

Review 93:Would have preferred a room with balcony

Review 94:Charming hosts. Very attentive. Excellent breakfast. Extremely comfortable beds.

Review 95:The Amanites is a gem. The owners are gracious and warm-hearted hosts, helpful without being intrusive, and the rooms are totally charming, clean and comfortable with spectacular views over the village of Dimitsana and the surrounding mountains. Such a delight to have a balcony as well. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and freshly cooked specialties. Though perched on the side of a mountain, the Amanites provides undercover, off-road parking - a real bonus.

Review 96:Be prepared for small windey roads up to Dimitsana- but when you get there it's worth it.

Review 97:Modern luxuries in a tradional style and setting. The rooms were lovely and the views unparalleled.

Review 98:bathroom, though beautifully equipped, was rather cramped

Review 99:impressive view of old Dimitsana; friendly & knowledgeable staff; good breakfast; very pleasant decor

Review 100:Outstanding, excellent hosts, extremely helpful, spotlessly clean. Quiet, good parking, good position and easy to find. Very well furnished. Substantial and varied breakfast. Highly reccomended.

Review 101:Nothing at all. It was perfect in every detail.

Review 102:Lena and Aris welcomed us like family and were very helpful and friendly. I travel a lot and this experience was first class.

Review 103:Shower worked fine, but little water pressure. Probably to much to ask for in a village like this.

Review 104:Superb view from our balcony. Very warm couple running the guesthouse.

Review 105:The downside were the three flights of stairs up to our very good room, though Aris kindly helped us lug our cases up; and the hilly access to the house was difficult for people like us used to driving in flat landscapes! That's why our 'comfort' score is only 'good' - meaning no comment on the general accommodation and hospitality.

Review 106:The view from our balcony was fine, and the room itself immaculate. Aris was excessively attentive to our needs, and the breakfast was good. Lena's warmth was exceptional.
