Reviews for Molesworth Arms Hotel

Review 1:Unfortunately they were in the middle of a refurbishment during our stay.

Review 2:Breakfast and staff were great. Great location for getting around the sites of north Cornwall.

Review 3:Staff had a fight in front of us! very unprofessional.the pictures were a lot different than on the website, small room.

Review 4:Good location in the summer, very quiet this time of year.little plates restaurant near by is lovely.

Review 5:Parking slightly awkward. Nothing can be done about it though, and staff EXTREMELY helpful when I needed help after I hit my bumper on a post in the dark.??? Lights might help .?I don't think I was the first to be so clumsy ! Just unlucky this time was me

Review 6:Central location good. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast very good and excellent service.Room at front of building slightly noisy until bar opposite closed but warm and clean.Comfortable beds, good choice drinks including hot chocolate and mugs not cups !!!Would definitely recommend it.

Review 7:A last minute booking for a November weekend found myself, my husband and our two small dogs staying at The Molesworth Arms. This 16th century coaching inn has charm and character and fabulous, plentiful home cooked food. On our first night I had fishermans pie, my husband had rump steak and we had chilli, cheese potato skins as a side order. It was piping hot, very tasty and only £26. The cooked "Full Cornish breakfast" the next morning was so plentiful we could barely move. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and rushed to fetch a bowl of water for our dogs each time we were in the bar. Our room was comfortable with a huge bed and a powerful shower. We were very happy with our stay at The Molesworth Inn and hope to stay there again. Who would want a soul-less hotel chain when you can stay somewhere fabulous :-)

Review 8:The doors to the rooms are very insecure. There is nothing stopping someone walking straight into the accommodation block straight off the street. We did not leave any valuables in the room when touring the area.

Review 9:Staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 10:Not a bad experience, just not sure that room 14 passes as a Deluxe Twin with city view as indicated on web site and booked @ £75.00 prpn.

Review 11:A great location for us, as we have family in Wadebridge

Review 12:Hardly a "bad experience" but the car park was difficult to navigate! Having said that, we were very grateful that there WAS a car park!

Review 13:The staff were really friendly and helpful and the accommodation was bright and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent - we ate both evening meals and breakfast there. Well-cooked and plenty of it.

Review 14:nightclub in pub 5ft from rooms with no sound proofing drunk noisy people till 1.30am booking .com let us down was not told any think of this and now read lots of complaints of same problem !!!!!!!

Review 15:parking

Review 16:Live music on Friday and Saturday, loud enough on the Friday to make the bedroom floor vibrate. Didn't expect silence but would have appreciated a warning prior to booking.

Review 17:Excellent catering and friendly staff.

Review 18:Car park around the back has no space specicifically for people staying over at pub. Had a hard time finding a space. Young staff messed around too much when we were trying to check in. It looked like they'd been drinking, but were friendly enough.

Review 19:It was so close to the camel trail cycle path. Food and drink was great value. Good food and a very comfy bed. Had a very good nights sleep.

Review 20:Hotel did not have booking when we arrived although I had confirmation. Hotel very hard to find.

Review 21:Staff quickly organized large family room for three adults. Good meals.

Review 22:We booked to have a meal. No one seemed in charge. There was a drunk man at the bar who kept shouting & his swearing was allowed by the staff. When we complained the staff said there was nothing they could do. Unfortunately the situation got worse & he was then thrown out. Too late for us as we were already trying to finish meal as quickly as we could. Also a dog was allowed to run round the bar/eating area whilst we were eating. The dogs owner kept shouting to his dog to go back to him & we had to put up with this also throughout our meal. No attempt to put dog on lead. We love dogs but don't expect to fend them off throughout our meal, he jumped up onto the seat next to us at one point ready to eat off our plate!! Horrible atmosphere & staff with no desire to sort out situation until they had no choice. No apology next morning, no friendly chat - disappointing.

Review 23:Location

Review 24:Poor wifi

Review 25:Well what an enterprising person to use this place to the best it can very freidly very clean warm ,the food was absolutely wonderful from the salad at night to the ginormous breakfast, the staff could not be more freindy and helpful I would recommend to all only wish I had been there in Friday night to see the live band

Review 26:Parking very difficult, noise from pub & other rooms, could even hear next room talking, toilets very noisy, terrible rude uninterested cocky staff. Smallest room ever. Do not believe photos. There must be only 1 decent size room. Dogs running round the bar all night barking. We were totally ripped off.

Review 27:Food was quite good amazingly.

Review 28:Having to ask for a change of room. Initially given a v.small room (described on own website as a single!) and not representative of standard on website. Given a good swop but there is a real need to drop the word 'deluxe' from the description to avoid confusion. Rooms should be described as small/standard/large on booking so at least you know what you are paying for.

Review 29:Location was good. Friendly staff and tasty breakfast.

Review 30:Very loud music from pub until midnight, no parking spaces in car park on Friday or Saturday night had to park on street and move it in the morning. Free wifi but no password given.

Review 31:Good location in Wadebridge, clean and comfortable room, good breakfast included.

Review 32:Arrival was unwelcoming. Chap on bar duties very uninterested (it was very busy due to football match) I guess he was more interested in that. Wouldn't have paid to stay here if made aware of the volume of noise. WONT BE RECOMENDING especially at weekends. We could hear next room snoring ha! Rooms not sound proof.

Review 33:Breakfast was lovely and hot and lots of it. The staff who served it on both mornings very welcoming.

Review 34:I was there a Friday and saturday night. Big mistake. Friday there was a liveband and saturday disco music untill midnight. what a racket. And on Molesworths website there's no warning of this.

Review 35:I loved the staff. Rarely have I met more friendly and funny people.

Review 36:Parking was a problem. We were blocked in the car park during our stay and staff were unable to contact the owners of the cars concerned. This meant that we were unable to go out for dinner that night. Also, early one morning, we received a knock on the door, asking if we had blocked others in, even though we had provided staff with our registration details. If you stay here, I recommend that you park elsewhere - it's almost impossible to park in an 'unblockable' spot!

Review 37:Poor parking impossible ! your site says no need to book how could you book with no space. Ufortunately bank holiday sat group banging away till12 00 midnight under our room 8

Review 38:Good room good food

Review 39:On arrival, we were not given the standard of room that we had booked, with little apology for the change - and no change in price. The placeneeds to decide whether it's a pub or a hotel, with very loud musicblaring out until gone midnight which made sleep impossible forresidents. The staff and, in particular, the manager, were rude andchurlish. When we complained about the accommodation and the noise wewere told - "if you stay, you have to pay" - no attempt at anapology or trying to find a way to resolve our complaint. We checked outearly and went elsewhere. I would heartily recommend that you never stayin this place, you will be disappointed.

Review 40:The breakfast was good, that's the only positive comment I can make.

Review 41:room was very small and car parking could be more organised as we were blocked in and had to wait for staff to find residents to move their cars in order to leave....not all car reg numbers had been taken at check in which made the task harder and more time consuming

Review 42:Staff were very friendly and helpful great attitude and very focused on customer service and satisfaction Location was central and excellent

Review 43:Massively overpriced - £95 for a room which is only marginally bigger than the size of a double bed is a rip off. We were kept awake until gone 1am by the thumping house music and then people hanging around outside once the pub closed, and then woken at 7am by people cleaning up from the night before. Parking is basically a joke. You have to block or be blocked in by another car and in the managers words "it should be fine but I can't guarantee it." Not what I expected when I reserved a parking space. When I came down down in the morning a 'punter' was verbally abusing the manager over the alleged assault of his wife/girlfriend the night before. The victim has swelling in one of her eyes. The manager was apologising whilst the young female bar staff found this amusing. Quite simply, they should make it abundantly clear that if staying on a Fri or Sat night you will not get any decent rest, and charge no more than £35 for room 14.

Review 44:The fact I managed to get a refund for checking out early.

Review 45:the fact that I booked a deluxe room and it certainly was not that. Also took a time to find my booking at one point looked as though I would have to find somewhere else to stay.not impressed

Review 46:good location and generous breakfast

Review 47:Insufficient parking - blocked in each morning. Dripping toilet Lack of electric sockets at suitable height Razor socket didn't work Room very cramped

Review 48:Welcoming helpful staff

Review 49:The twin room was very small and there wasn't room for a bedside table on one side. There was no where to hang towels either in the bathroom or the bedroom. Breakfast needed some fresh fruit and yoghurt options.

Review 50:Location great and staff very friendly. very good cooked breakfast.

Review 51:The noise from the live band and DJ every Friday and Saturday night is absolutely hellish. No chance of getting sleep before 2am and the noise of the people outside goes on even longer. I would not recommend staying here on a weekend as you will be livid - and we are a young couple. The bed was shaking and no way of blocking out the sound - couldn't even hear the TV for the noise!

Review 52:Staff really lovely and accommodating. Breakfast was great and the pub was great, especially if you like sport. Great, reasonably-priced pub food too. Location was excellent also - great for Camel Trail to Padstow and Bodmin.

Review 53:Bathroom in need of refurbishment, regrouting etc. Light pull grubby, hardly an expensive item to replace and improve the feel of the place. 3 friends joined us for breakfast, staff and delivery a complete shambles. ended up two of us didn't even get the cooked. Disappointing stay.

Review 54:Clean bedding and towels.

Review 55:In the alley way, part of the premises, staff and others were smoking.Bit off putting.Bedroom could do with secondary glazing,as noise from the street was annoying

Review 56:Friendly staff,Lovely room.Excellent food

Review 57:The room I occupied was very noisy so by the time ten o clock came along I had to complain. Apparently my room was located above the kitchen, and as the fans are on it was noisy and extremely irritating. Shower curtains must be changed as they did smell.

Review 58:The only thing I would mention was the Polish bar staffs lack of English!! That's the only negative.

Review 59:The place was totally different to the reviews on here. It was welcoming, friendly and I wouldn't hesitate in booking there again. The room was clean, comfortable and any extra's we asked for were brought to us straight away.

Review 60:The wi-fi was not working in the room.

Review 61:It was a good size and comfortable room for four people. Although it was in a pub, the music in the weekends did not disturb us.

Review 62:rooms very small. tv didn't go and couldn't fix. paved areas needed cleaning. Bit of a run down look

Review 63:old style pub good atmosphere good breakfast

Review 64:the parking is a bit difficult but as its an old coaching house then they can't really do much about it and so I am willing to accept it as part of the :"charm".

Review 65:Breakfasts are really fabulous, room and bathroom were small and cute but quite adequate considering the age of the place. If you are used to a Marriot with lots of room then this isn't the place for you. It is very charming with an old world atmosphere and the staff were very attentive, pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 66:No bad points but car parking a bit of a lottery and some street noise at night.

Review 67:Great location. Wifi worked well. Big screen TV in bar area. Massive breakfast!

Review 68:The staff at the hotel pub were very lovely and accommodating as we arrived very early (7am!) for our check-in and they made sure we were comfortable and took care of our luggage while we went out. Breakfast was terrific too.

Review 69:Parking was a bit hit and miss as locals used it too.

Review 70:Location was excellent and close to the place's we were visiting. Night time entertainment was good as well.

Review 71:It was a shame on site parking was limited but staff did their best and were able to find us a parking.

Review 72:Very friendly staff, large spacious family room and Good food. Good location with plenty of local shops to look at.

Review 73:It was extremely easy to get to. We came on the bus and were worried how far we would have to walk with our luggage. It was extremely easy to find and very near the bus stop. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the flowers outside our window.

Review 74:Room was quite small considering it was supposed to be a deluxe double? Car park was a little awkward.

Review 75:Breakfast was excellent and the staff really friendly and helpful

Review 76:The Zoo bar was closed as they were doing works. Sometimes the breakfastthings were cleared away too early before the time allotted. Diningtables need to be wiped clean more often.

Review 77:A lovely central location from which guests can reach most of thereally attractive resorts of N. Cornwall. Bedroom was very clean andcomfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food wasdelicious with generous servings. The pub was excellent, frequentedby local people and had a lovely atmosphere. We were initially alittle bit worried by some of the negative reviews but to be honestwe had no problems at all and would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is not 5 star but for the location, comfort and cleanliness wasgood value for money.

Review 78:Parking not great bit did improve. Room was very small, hardly room too be around with 2 adults and their bags. Bed was made up as town despite double booking and couldn't be changed until the next day. No sight of croissant or pastries on breakfast selection.

Review 79:Wadebridge is a good location between the coast and Bodmin, and hotel was centrally located in town.

Review 80:Some staff abrupt, cold coffee for breakfast , given menu at 20.55 went to bar to order at 21.05 then told that kitchen closes at 21.00 !!!

Review 81:The Sunday roast was very good good

Review 82:Friday and Saturday nights VERY noisy until gone midnight, particularly for front bedrooms. One room booked as a twin turned out to be a double. Not the place to go if you are looking for peace and quiet.

Review 83:Food and breakfasts were good. Family Room no 16 was spacious.

Review 84:We we unaware there'd be live music with no escape from in our room. Room was tiny and the music was banging through the walls. We were unable to sleep at all. The window was tiny and very stuffy and hot. It also had the smallest TV ever.

Review 85:Pet friendly which is good.

Review 86:the room we were given already has people in it. the man that organised the rooms disappeared for half an hour and we were three waiting for help In the end we got a family room for the same price but the charge I was given from Booking.com was £20 cheaper than the price I had to pay before I got the £20 back after I could prove I was given a different price from Booking.com. So all and all a very frustrating check in. The parking was very difficult to find and much too small.

Review 87:The bar staff were very nice.

Review 88:Great position in a quiet pedestrianized high street, helpful staff, busy bar at night but easily served. Great beer & cider, food is very good as well. Room very comfortable and had a nice window looking out onto the high street which was great for people watching over the window box with lovely flowers. Only things that could be better were - bigger TV, bathroom was poorly lit, water pressure in the mornings could be better.

Review 89:If you are staying on Saturday night and you are having an early night loud music will be played until midnight so be prepared. You are better off having a couple of drinks and embracing the music.

Review 90:The breakfast is second to none and the people are very friendly.. Will do anything to help you. The food they serve in general gets a 10/10

Review 91:Checking in early proved awkward despite arranging it in advance, car parking not easy as car park is very small. We expected the Live Band so for us this was not an issue. If you are looking fiorolan early night it may not be for you

Review 92:Comfy beds, clean rooms, great breakfast, plenty of hot water.

Review 93:No directions for parking provided. Disinterested and unhelpful staff. All food stops at 9pm. Loud live music until late eve without any warning. Room much smaller that appeared in photos. Breakfast was quite frankly horrid.

Review 94:Good high central location. Free parking.

Review 95:Nothing as such, was led to believe that I was booking a deluxe double room and got a tiny room with 2 single beds. Bed was really comfy though and had 2 great nights sleep.

Review 96:Staff and locals alike are a very friendly bunch, I was made to feel really welcome by everyone i met, must be a Celtic thing..location is spot on and perfect for just about anything.

Review 97:Room overlooked the pedestrian street which could be quite noisy at night.

Review 98:Location was great. Free parking was convenient. Pub had great food and atmosphere. Included breakfast in the pub was very good.

Review 99:Parking was a little tight but never really an issue. Otherwise everything was spot on.

Review 100:We had a massive family room with all expected amenities. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and always on hand. Even Though we were above a lounge where a live band and disco were held the noise was surprisingly low and didn't affect our sleeping at all. The breakfast came free with the price of the room and there was a surprisingly good cooked breakfast choice, also we had dinner twice I the bar and each time the did was hearty, hot and delicious, you could tell it was all made fresh. I would thoroughly recommend staying in this hotel and town, we all had a great holiday.

Review 101:took 40 minutes driving around with sat nav to find car park, when we did find car park was no where to park, all taken with staff/ friends/ reps etc. would never stay again

Review 102:No real concerns or negatives to comment on. As a one night 'stop over' the Molesworth provided what we were looking for.

Review 103:Located in the heart of Wadebridge which made exploring very easy. The room, though small, was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful whilst breakfast was well cooked and plentiful.

Review 104:Room was a bit small, fire alarm went off at 1.00a.m. due to fault, noisy bar / restaurant with SKY TV's, separate restaurant was not available if it exists.

Review 105:Location was good, room was clean, food was also good including Breakfast and meal in bar. Secure car park (bit small) was a bonus, good 1 night stop off.

Review 106:We would have liked to have had a phone in our room to be able to call the airline, etc, but they allowed us to use their office phone which was much appreciated nonetheless! Also, a mini fridge would have been nice since we're American's and like to have cream with our coffee, but had no place to store it, oh well, not such a big deal in the scheme of things!

Review 107:We had a most enjoyable stay at the Molesworth! We were greeted by the very friendly staff and whisked away to our room in no time at all! One of our bags was left at Gatwick by our airline and the staff here helped us tremendously in getting everything sorted! Loved all the effort everyone put in towards helping us!

Review 108:On the downside the rooms were tired with single glazing and it was pretty cold when we were staying. Luckily there was an electric heater in the room. Be advised they have live music at the weekends so you may not get an early night!

Review 109:Staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was good. We didn't even attempt the Cornish breakfast......it was ginormous!

Review 110:We booked a "deluxe" room but ours from far from that (and nowhere near the standard of the pictures on their web site), with tatty furniture and a nasty smell just as you walked in the room. So not worth the money we paid! Car park was difficult to find and cars were double parked, with little thought given to who might need to leave when. When we arrived we were left standing waiting while the barman just continued chating, and then the money for the entire stay was taken from our credit card before we were even given the keys to our room (meaning we felt that complaining would be a waste of time, as result would most likely be we would be even more upset and still not get any money back). We also discovered after we had arrived that they had loud live music until at least midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, somwthing that was was not made clear on the web site or when we booked.

Review 111:Nothing!!

Review 112:Not really a bad experience, but parking was a bit chaotic. Luckily, we knew the public car park nearby was free overnight, so we parked there. Bit of a nuisance to carry all our stuff to and from pub though.

Review 113:Needed somewhere to stay at very short notice, so were delighted that pet-friendly accommodation available,

Review 114:Perfect location and very friendly staff, used by regulars as their local watering hole from 9.00 in the morning so if you like to have breakfast in a quiet environment then this isn't for you. The breakfast was exceptional and the bed was very comfortable, will definitely be returning.m

Review 115:Although it does state in very small print live music/disco at weekends, it was more of a night club with my children feeling slightly scared of the drunk teenagers effing and geffing until 2am out side the window, The word delux to me is obviously different to what the hotel thinks it is, very basic rooms and was not worth the money .

Review 116:Food was lovely, Staff were friendly apart from when we checked out not even a word of thank you or did you enjoy your stay, found her very rude. Location was great.

Review 117:Nothing but do check that they have the details of your booking ASAP

Review 118:ANY GUEST THAT HAS BOOKED HERE MUST CONTACT THE HOTEL - they had a computer meltdown meaning that some bookings have been lost - we had booked 3 rooms and were only down for 1 when we arrived. Fortunately they were not fully booked - that aside it was pretty good, nice rooms, super comfortable bed, kettle and biscuits in the room and excellent wi-fi, I can see that not everyone will like the noise on Fridays and Saturdays as functions are regularly held but there is a midnight curfew on that and it serves people right for not going out themselves - particularly to the excellent Warnes Bar and Resteraunt, overall very happy and they do Tribute in the bar!!

Review 119:Car parking nightmare, first room we you couldn't swing a cat in it. Door had damage so we were moved to another room. This was a small room also but at least the beds were facing the same way. No mirror in bathroom that had been taken off the wall.

Review 120:Beer, and the friendliest of the staff.

Review 121:Car parking facilities. They also got our booking for twin room wrong and, whilst staff tried hard to fix this, we had to compromise.

Review 122:Location and friendly staff

Review 123:Parking !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok when you find it. Once your in you cant get out. not defined parking spaces as space is limited.

Review 124:Bar and resteraunt, good. We were at the back of the hotel so not affected by the music from the bar. Very large family room. Breakfast very good. Price extremely reasonable given it was a BH.

Review 125:Not worth the money, too small a room for price we paid. Staff rude and ignorant. bed was untidy and dirty, lights too dull, no mirror, too noisy, were hearing noises throughout the night. Breakfast was horrible, toast too cols and not good breakfast

Review 126:The bath was a bit short - worst I can say!

Review 127:Really friendly and helpful staff. Bar food reasonably priced and excellent quality. Brilliant location, you can walk everywhere in town. Very clean, shower worked brilliantly, super comfy room. Friendly and welcoming bar. The free wifi actually worked without needing a Computer Science Degree to connect to it, unlike many places I've been.

Review 128:Room was tiny, far from the picture you are given when booking. Bath and toilet so close that they virtually touched. If you are a large man or woman it is a squeeze. Bar is noisy but we knew that beforehand, it didn't wake me! Not enough attention to detail.

Review 129:Breakfast

Review 130:We booked a "Deluxe Double Room" - nothing in Room No 5 could be described as Deluxe - it was a tiny room not even room for a chair and only space for one bedside table, and a small bathroom with a door that didn't shut. Car parking was impossible when we arrived it was triple parked. Photo on website is nothing like the room we were given. We did receive a £20 refund on the £95 we had pre-paid for the room after complaining.

Review 131:The bar was nice and lively and busy on our arrival but we were served quickly with drinks. Breakfast was exceedingly good.

Review 132:Rat under the floor boards. Disgusting food. Unprofessional staff. Didn't get the room we payed for... Was supposed to be a deluxe room!!! Very basic & small. The window didn't even open! Health and safety hazard! Very disappointed with this hotel.

Review 133:Nothing

Review 134:there was nothing i didnt like

Review 135:it was in a great location .the room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable and warm .the breakfast was really good and a lot of it ,i would stay there again

Review 136:Very lively bar with quite a few drunken locals on a Sunday afternoon/evening. They were good natured but very noisy. The bar also had TV with sound on and music playing! If you are not prepared to put up with a little noise, don't chose this popular pub.

Review 137:Excellent value at less than £60 including a first rate breakfast. Free wifi and toiletries were an extra bonus for such a low price. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Review 138:We had difficulty finding the car parking as the hotel in on a pedestrian only street. - had to park up on a nearby street and ask the staff for directions. With a map it was easy to find.

Review 139:Friendly welcoming staff - good choice of bar food for an evening meal and excellent choice for breakfast (which was free when we booked). Ideal situation in the centre of the town.

Review 140:Very noisy Friday & Saturday night as room was above a pub with live music, not clear from website at all. Broken shower door, towels not replaced when left in shower - put back on rail! Ridiculously over powerful taps meant you & the floor got drenched every time they were turned on.

Review 141:Breakfast was good
