Reviews for Elounda Bay Palace
Review 1:I guess the private villa are better than the room into the main building. Did not provide me a "coup de coueur" at all.
Review 2:Not something specially
Review 3:This isn't really a complaint about the hotel but do take into consideration that the water will be very chilly in the beginning of October so you will likely not go into the ocean. Also the pools are not heated, not even the indoor one so we couldn't use those either. Basically you should come in September.
Review 4:We had the most perfect holiday here, staff was very pleasant, we got upgraded to a sea view suite which was lovely and fully enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend skipping the dinner buffet and going to restaurants to use your €25 each. If you go to the sushi place- get only the sushi, it was amazing (the fish dishes were nice but not worth the money). For lunch I highly recommend taking a quick taxi to taverna despina in town, best food and very reasonably priced.
Review 5:We were a little disappointed not to have a straight sea view room as it looked in the photo particularly as we had booked and paid extra for this. My computer was hacked and the engineers in the UK said the hackers access was at the time of staying at the Elounda Bay where I used the internet in the hotel room. Please advise the hotel of this.
Review 6:The good choice of facilities and restaurants which were all excellent.
Review 7:Booked a deluxe-suite which was not available, however, upgraded to the 'sister' hotel - but room was smaller …. Unfortunately, we arrived right at the start of a VERY busy period which to all was unexpected….
Review 8:Staff friendly and always willing to ensure we enjoyed the perfect holiday!! Breakfast and dinner buffet spreads were excellent - wonderful selection for all tastes!! Various beach and swimming options which are extremely well located!! Great amenities and restaurants for various requirements and tastes …. Check-in Manager & ALL including breakfast & dinner staff did a great job in ensuring our stay was extremely comfortable and enjoyable!! WE would LOVE to return!! Efgaristo :-)
Review 9:Remember there are two airports on Crete one is quite a distance and the other is a 3 hour journey.
Review 10:Sail in Bar is just one of the most relaxing places you find on a holiday.
Review 11:The atmosphere in the main restaurant was not very cozy, poor lighting, no candles. 5 Euros for espresso in the beach bar is outrageous even for expensive hotels.Bags of towels were left outside out room for 3 days, there were cigarette butts outside the patio. Missing dumbbells in the gym and several treadmills very loud. No temperature control at the gym which made it very hot in the afternoon when it was full. The rooms (we have seen 3 of them due to having to change) seem to be quite dated. Loud fans in the bathroom, the shower curtain didn't keep the water from going all over the bathroom floor, lighting fixtures old and unmatching.
Review 12:Beautiful private beaches (2 of them), very nice and comfortable beach beds, the grounds kept nicely and are very clean. The breakfast was good and plentiful and the buffet dinner quite varied and pretty good. The gym was quite ok, but several of the dumbbells were missing a pair. The gym and the spa in the Elounda Beach hotel (sister hotel) was much newer and nicer. Very nice and comfortable bed.
Review 13:The bed itself is quite tight, and the concrete near your head is quite dangerous - you better not drop your head on the pillow without control!! Besides that all is nice.
Review 14:Almost everything, especially staff and beach space layout and services. The territory of the hotel and open pool, where you can nicely start your day. Free parking was available, though almost busy.
Review 15:Dining at the main restaurant was self service and a bit cafeteria like.
Review 16:Superb location. Good and wide choice of food. The a-la carte restaurant by the sea was fantastic although expensive.
Review 17:Old rooms. Old facilities. Medium service. Thecpictures in the booking sight does not reflect the real situation of the room. It seemd that if not famous or a millionair they do not count you. disappointing
Review 18:The location of the hotel is beautiful
Review 19:Thought the hotel had a slightly old fashioned appearance. Grounds at rear of hotel towards the beach seemed divided into smallish, quite dark areas (relatively) by high hedges.
Review 20:Location of hotel, very good parking, grounds to front of hotel well maintained. Food in buffet restaurant very good.
Review 21:Old fashioned resort style hotel. Facilities in need of a face-lift . Poor-Average meals served in a noisy and over populated dinning room. Staff is nice but stressed and overloaded.
Review 22:Quiet old place. nice view
Review 23:good overall services and facilities staff are friendly & helpful scrumptious cuisine and variety of food good location and clean resort and beach
Review 24:Staff, room are bad old and dirty, AC didn't work, no hot water in the shower, phone was broken so we had to go down to the reception everytime, if you're taking the half board you can only eat in one restaurants which have the same dinner and breakfast every day. If you want to eat on the other restaurants in the resort praper to pay a lot to money with no Reasonable prices. Even in the Maldives and Seychelles you don't pay so much.
Review 25:The elounda beach palace, which is in the same location with the bay have perfect facilities and great accommodation. STAY AWAY FROM ELOUNDA BAY PLACE AND GO ONLY FOR THE BEACH RESORT
Review 26:If I advise this hotel? Rather no than yes and here are some arguments.Of the minuses: The hotel 5 stars, but from the first day of ourholiday, we are faced with fundamental disloyalty from the hotelmanagement, namely, hotel offering for tourists which have bought a tripfrom them a free shuttle service (transfer) to and from the airport. Webought a trip through the booking for the same money and despite thegenerous appeal personally to the head of the hotel, free transfer wedid not get. You will say, they are paid a commission to the booking andit is not profitable for them. Yes, but if he would showed to uscourtesy and loyalty, we would have spent money in the hotel spa, wouldeat in restaurants in the hotel, and so on, and so he "return backmoney" for our transfer. But we spent money outside the hotel. Wegot the impression that there is not really need in our tourists. Wemade our findings we have something to compare, we travel a lot and forsure we can say that a love for Russian citizens from Crete people andthe hotel staff did not feel. Conversely, the British and otherEuropeans for them is much more important than Russian customers. Do notfeel this is possible only when you don't know the foreign languageand simply do not facing-off. They have unlimited use of the beach. Weswam in the sea at 18:30, and in the meantime the employee (beach boy)started collecting beach mattresses and towels from sun beds, we askedhim not to touch our sunbed because we are coming in 15 minutes backfrom the sea to the beach, and how big was our shock when he started toshout at us so all beach can hear, saying that time is limited, itshould be remove all and so on and so forth, grabbing our things andthrow them to other sunbed, took towels and mattresses, and went away. After when we came out from the sea, he returned to us and continueshouting boundlessly, told that up to 19 o'clock it is necessary toremove things from the beach.
Review 27:From the pluses is a good beach and the beautiful sea, which is perhapsnot the merit of the hotel. Good food. некоторые аргументы. изплюсов,хороший пляж и красивое море, что пожалуй не является заслугойотеля. хорошая еда.
Review 28:Room service charged 15€ just for the delivery it's ridiculous expensive We ordered 2 cappuccinos that cost 8€ and we paid 23€
Review 29:Great stuff and amazing service! We felt welcome all the time and that the stuff will do everything to keep us pleased. The place is absolutely stunning. Breakfast is very versatile and tasty as well as dinner. Wi if free all across the hotel and it's great. We had the best times!
Review 30:We arrived in the middle of a thunder storm and so we were quite wet on presentation to reception. The man on reception was not accommodating at all and when we enquired if there were any vacancies for the night we were dismissed to wait to see what reservations would say. After 20 minutes we were told there were no rooms available. We went on bookings.com and reserved a room directly. This may have been a technical issue but it was very disappointing and we did not feel welcome at all.
Review 31:Some of the staff were so helpful and accommodating while others were very rude. The surroundings were tally beautiful
Review 32:Air conditioning system in our room was a bit dated - it developed faults twice during our 7 day stay and caused two sleepless nights as it was so hot in the bedroom. A corporate fan was provided but did not cool the room. A lock on our door also failed one evening and could not be locked. All these incidents were repaired and staff very sympathetic but alternative rooms weer not available as hotel was full. Also not keen on buffet arrangements for meals. Hotel staff in restaurant were run ragged by guests turning up at different times. Tables had to be quickly cleared and reset to allow for staff arriving during the morning or evening meal times. Staff numbers looked to be too low to cater for guests turning up at restaurant and queues were commonplace.
Review 33:Closeness to sea. Clean sea water lovely to swin in. Very helpful and pleasant staff, who were not expecting tips at any time. They were genuinely 'humbled' when we did tip them. Well planned arrival and departures - no trouble at all. Luggage moved by porters without having to arrange - they have obviously thought very hard about ways to help their guests enjoy the experiences
Review 34:Room was a bit worn in bath especially. Not really luxurious. Always trying to get you to buy more drinks, food, extras.
Review 35:Great service and friendly staff.
Review 36:Too many children crying on the beaches. Very limited lounge chair space by the beach. People deserve chairs very early and it is hard to get one if you go down after 8am
Review 37:Came for our honeymoon as our first stop in the Greek islands. A lot of families and small children. Very little nightlife except a handful of people at the Sailing Bar. Buffets were okay for the value. Dinner at Argonaut the italian restaurant was wonderful!
Review 38:The extras cost a lot of money! The wifi is poor. The TV in the room was outdated.
Review 39:The location is superb. Great views. Very clean. Great staff. Excellent room.
Review 40:Small bathroom designed for such hotel
Review 41:Nice resort with larges areas, clean and well designed, nice gardens, beach commodities, nice restaurants, buffets and food, nice and pleasant staff.
Review 42:1) no salmon and champagne at breakfast 2) only in trousers for dinner! And only! And no choice when booking - only HB 3) other strict rules, that makes leisure not comfort I think I'll never come back
Review 43:Black roach in the bedroom consecutively for two nights, killed the first one couldn't get the second one. Worn out hotel with a terrible lift Families with plenty of children, no rest in the beach Prices in the menu and the bill differ We have eaten the most expensive sea bass in our life, 82 Euros for 950 gr fish of which half of it is gone to bones and head, outrageos.
Review 44:Excellent location Upgraded excellent deluxe room with a sea view Very nice bar Very large area with trees for relaxing
Review 45:We had an amazing time at Elounda Bay Palace. It was our honeymoon and it was definitely the best way to celebrate. The staff were very helpful an kind. Great selection of food. We will come back!
Review 46:The room was good, but needs updating now. The price of the spa treatments were more than top notch London prices!
Review 47:The Hotel could not be faulted on the ambiance and setting. The Staff could not be more accommodating. The restaurants were very good, but sometimes pricey.
Review 48:Superior room with sea view - we got small room with view on the roof and partially sea view, air conditioner was only in small corridor, room was not ventilated at all. We got bigger room with normal air conditioner next day , this one has roof view also. Room with outdated furniture and old TV. The other room with mountain view was outdated and inappropriate for 5*hotel . Nor sea view nor mountain view room has features that were published on "booking"
Review 49:Excellent location and polite staff, nice outside facilities: pool, courts, nice beach. Excellent service, but...
Review 50:The first two rooms we were put in were severely outdated, terrible location and bed very uncomfortable. Green marble bathrooms really not great. So we moved room 3 times which is not great for a stay of 7 days with a family of 5!
Review 51:The location is fantastic as the pool and beach are 20 yards from each other so fantastic for families with young children that want to run between the two.
Review 52:nothing not to like about this place, it is fabulous
Review 53:being moved to a suite as an upgrade certainly improved our six day stay, but we ate in the bay palace and the food was excellent. the Elounda Beach breakfast was excellent and the staff were superb
Review 54:The smoke from the Fire.
Review 55:We booked 2 rooms at the Elounda Palace and they upgraded us to the Beach hotel. The weather was so bad they cancelled the ferries to the island for both days we where there. We really enjoyed our stay the staff were so friendly we had complimentary wine & fruit in our room. Will Definately return when the weather is better.
Review 56:The prices of the food and drinks are in perception over the top.
Review 57:We were upgraded from the Elounda Bay hotel tot the Elounda beach hotel. The staff all over the place were absolutely fantastic. If it was the lady who cleaned the room or the people serving at the Kafenion, or of the Dionysos or the lady in the Lito bar......everybody was very, very service minded with there heart. The food was terrific. A very wide choice of wines and drinks. The breakfast was amazing every morning again. The room was very good. The taxi drivers are from the same level. A big compliment to this hotel.
Review 58:The quality of the Wi-Fi connection is OK but you have to log in several times a day. Each time you are entering a new zone the connection is lost and an automatic connection seems to be impossible.
Review 59:Almost everything is good or very good.
Review 60:No negative feedback.
Review 61:Entire staff was superb - Renata and her colleagues at the concierge were amazing. Resort is gorgeous and well maintained. Highly recommend a suite in the same building as the reception area. We will be going back!
Review 62:-Felt like camp..they kept asking our room number and were at times rude -Had to fight to get the room I reserved and paid for. In the end they did give it to me. -Lawn chairs everywhere with people laying out... a little messy -buffet food okay
Review 63:-Awesome water quality -Great watersports right out the front door (Great water skiing) -Comfortable rooms/ good beds -Great Cleaning staff -nice that it is connected to another hotel you can use and explore as well
Review 64:If there is anything, I would say the restaurant that are available to choose from (instead of the hotel dining room) have a very limited menu with only Greek wines or French champagne which is very pricy
Review 65:If your looking for top pf the line service and a hotel that will cater to you every need pick this place. Amazing views great facilities all you could ask for.
Review 66:the greek night was poor value for money, the bbq meat was cooked early & left to go cold before being served, having to wait every night to get a table in the buffet restaurant , there were not enough waiters, the service was slow for a 5 star hotel
Review 67:good location, spacious sea view room, nice beach & gardens
Review 68:- The gym equipment was very poor. Basically if you are a gym-goer, there was nothing useful, apart from the treadmill and a useless combo machine. - Regardless of the house rules and warnings hanging on the beach umbrellas, guests were reserving the sunbeds early in the morning by leaving a towel or a book on them. This was quite frustrating and we didn't enjoy being under stress if we find ourselves sunbeds or not (sorry, but I didn't wand to get up at 7 a.m. on my holidays to reserve a sunbed). Disappointing that the staff wasn't doing anything about it. - the trip to Chrissi island was a total waste of time. 7 hours travel within one day on busses and ferries for 3 1/2 hours of crowded beach on the island. Avoid it! I presume that the trip to Santorini would have the same feel about it. - Water sports too expensive. We were planning to enjoy them a lot, but they were a bit over the top. Renting a small engine boat would cost you Eur 60 an hour. Last year we were renting the same boats on Halkidiki for Eur 25 a day. 15 min of jetski would thin your pocket with Eur 55, when on the next beach in the village it was 35.
Review 69:- Food at breakfast and dinner buffet was really top level - delicacies like snails, all sorts of fish, special lamb recipes, etc. You don't really have to go to the other restaurants. The buffet is just amazing. - The whole complex feels a bit 80-ies style, but well maintained and refreshed, so nothing to worry about. Actually it is its charm. - the tennis courts were top class - location was good - near a charming fishermen village and right next to Agios Nikolaos
Review 70:A bit dated in need of a re fresh and get rid of Eastern Block people very rude and in some cases spoilt the holiday for other guests.
Review 71:Location and restaurant staff
Review 72:rooms need updating no wifi in room Ariadne restaurant had bad, over-priced food staff was overwhelmed at dinner/breakfast - felt invisible
Review 73:beach (es) location gym kids club looked good but my kids refused to go
Review 74:The food and drinks are very pricey. I suggest buying the half board option.
Review 75:The staff was so knowledgable about the area and very friendly. They all knew us by name and made our honeymoon unforgettable! If you want to feel like you are kings and queens while on vacation this is the place! We even had a very special surprise waiting in our room when we got there. Everything you need is right at the resort. Salt and fresh water pools, sports activities. And two beaches. Amazing.

Review 132:Wow. What a great place for a holiday. The hotel and area are lovely. Staff couldn't be nicer. Food is good without being outstanding but variety is excellent. The hotel's own beech is superb. Room was great. Highly recommended.
Review 133:Dinner buffet a little chaotic, quality not up to 5 star standard.
Review 134:Warm welcome, friendly staff, superb accommodation, excellent facilities, design interiors, breathtaking location.
