Reviews for George IV Hotel
Review 1:Not wishing to be negative, but I wasn't prepared for a Christmas theme on 10/11. A bit premature to have the likes of Noddy Holder and Harry Belafonte sounding their Xmas songs over the music system but each to their own!! Would have preferred an a la carte esmenu opposed to one designed for Christmas Eve!!
Review 2:Convenient for rail station. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.A lift that worked!
Review 3:my only thing i would like to change is some of the decor in the bathroom could do with up dating, but other than that nothing else to complain about. All was lovely.
Review 4:First time we have stayed here and had a really lovely time. Staff were really polite and happy.
Review 5:Bathroom smelt awful on entering the room, got locked in my friends room (located opposite our room) because the door handle fell off but staff quickly came to our rescue and provided a temporary solution until the end of our stay.
Review 6:Staff were really friendly, location was ideal, breakfast was lovely, rooms were nice.
Review 7:Restaurant close early, check in 3pm & check out 10.30am.
Review 8:Nice old hotel with clean rooms & perfect location with near all attractions this place
Review 9:Unpleasant & unhelpful General manager. I surely won't be backdue to him, really arrogant & he shouldn't be at that job. Hotelage wasn't my cup of tea. No wifi in room. Breakfast was horrible.
Review 10:The hotel receptionist, the Polish girl, very thoughtful, helpful &courteous. Bed in so called castle view room was pretty comfortable.Location was ideal, close to the Castle Inn Pub which was amazing!!! Isay amazing!!! Best thing in Wales that pub.
Review 11:£8 per night Single supplement charged for a single person to stay in asingle bed in a single room. It's company policy to charge this and I was informed from LeisurePlex HQ the day before the stay that if I were to complain, all I would receive was a letter stating it was company policy. Unable to cancel due to 3 day refund policy. This is NOT made clear on the Booking.com website anywhere.
Review 12:Check in was efficient and my later return after work at 5.30am was nota problem for the night porter. Helpful staff who accommodated with apacked lunch in lieu of breakfast due to my unusual shift times.
Review 13:Poor quality breakfast. Set up forbid tours. Twin room when booked a double Bedroom small and cramped more suitable for single room Poor quality for price. Very disappointing.
Review 14:Convenient.
Review 15:Staff not very accommodating, felt as though staff looked down their noses at us as they talked in Welsh to people in between dealing with us, poor manners! Breakfast ok but microwaveable, lots of retired people here, very quiet, rooms very hot and stuffy unable to open windows more than an inch
Review 16:The Reception staff were very unhelpful and offhand. There is no private car park; you will be lucky if you can get into the public one across the road! The room only had a step in the bath shower that was dated with no safety rail or slip mat. You were expected to pre-order food (as we didn't arrive until 6pm this was impossible) or eat only a choice of two three course meals which we didn't want or like. As the restaurant was fully booked anyway we had to find our own food elsewhere. They took payment before we had checked out and we could not pay for any drinks with a card unless the bill totalled more than £15. I would not recommend this hotel. The service was poor for the price we paid.
Review 17:This hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was of a high standard.
Review 18:Car parking not no site had to find space across the road in a waste land area.Bathroom smelled and shower leaked all over floor. No one sure where to sit for breakfast even that we had a table number just got table in a corner.
Review 19:Breakfast good ,staff tried there best but have a large couch party of senior lady's and gentleman. Room very clean.
Review 20:Staff a bit "distant" if polite. Lacked real welcome and felt a bit herded at breakfast - but OK
Review 21:Good base for Lleyn peninsula, Criccieth castle.
Review 22:Coach party passengers obviously given priority over other guests - eg being served at meals - but pro rata we pay more for B and B.
Review 23:Spacious and airy room with very comfortable bed.
Review 24:Smell of pee and over boiled veg . Wallpaper hanging off the walls and the most tasteless breakfast I have ever had . Without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Review 25:Nothing!
Review 26:The hotel has a charming exterior that is also reflected in the lobby and communal areas. Unfortunately the bedrooms are not in keeping with the rest of the building and are rather bland and characterless.
Review 27:The staff were friendly and attentive and the bingo caller was very entertaining and amusing for all. Quality evening entertainment that kept the guests happy.
Review 28:The fan in the bathroom released fumes which caused a smokey smell throughout the room if the door was left open. Breakfast would have been better if it was self service !!.
Review 29:Bedroom was cosy.
Review 30:Feared the worse, but was pleasantly surprised by the décor and cleanliness of our rooms. Had no complaints with the breakfast and nothing was too much trouble for the waitress. Did not have an evening meal but the menu appeared appetizing. Would book again if ever we visited the area. `
Review 31:Was unaware that I would need to book in advance to eat! Limited menu anyway and set time to eat. Signage stating Bistro very misleading.Luckily found excellent food in nearby restaurants where we could eat at our convenience.
Review 32:comfortable clean room. Friendly serving staff
Review 33:I think the hotel mainly caters to coach parties and the older generation. We had dinner at the hotel one evening, and whilst it was good I would eat elsewhere in future, only because the menu was quite simple (but my nan would have loved it!).
Review 34:Clean room, quiet location and helpful staff.
Review 35:none
Review 36:location for me personally is fantastic, the area is very quite and the hotel and staff are fantastic, one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever visited is a 100m away, will be back next year for sure.
Review 37:location, view from the room (106), size of the room, beach, castle and high street comfortably close to not have to use the car, breakfast didn't feel rushed, good selection of leaflets with local information, plenty of seating areas-our stay did not disappoint in any way and I would definitely stay here again-and recommend it to friends
Review 38:When we booked it stated entertainment on in evenings however there wasn't any on the nights we stayed a Friday and Saturday night when you would expect entertainment!
Review 39:The hotel was lovely and clean staff very nice and helpful. Fantastic location
Review 40:Wi-Fi only in public areas no bar menu only restaurant Breakfast was using obviously cheaper products bathroom not clean-toilet dirty on arrival, shower with silicone discoloured & dirty shower trap. Obviously a budget hotel, reflected in the price.
Review 41:Staff were friendly & helpful
Review 42:No complaints at all
Review 43:Booked 3 nights bed and breakfast. The location of the hotel was great, near shops and services. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The lift was welcome, as we were on the 3rd floor, so there was no struggling upstairs with suitcases. All staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. Breakfasts were cooked well, and served promptly. Will definitely be back.
Review 44:And a spacious room which my 90 year old mum enjoyed, plus the swish lift and the rail in the shower were appreciated. Enjoyed the evening entertainers.
Review 45:you have to cross the main road from the carpark with your luggage not great if you have a few bags
Review 46:in a nice position and very close to shops and other restraunts
Review 47:Coach party hotel almost exclusively which means you have to fit intotheir regime as to meal times etc. Car park small for big hotel andeverybody uses it. Needs updating soon.
Review 48:Position. Mainly european staff most helpful.
Review 49:I fell down the side of the bed and bruised and hurt my lower back so I never slept or was able to get our and about as I would have wished
Review 50:Staff location view
Review 51:Nothing; everything was perfectly fine with our stay.
Review 52:Perfectly simple; an old building in an old style, with just enough modern to keep you perfectly comfortable and relaxed. If the point of hospitality is to make the process as seamless as possible; this went perfectly. Everything was effortless and we didn't have a care; just went about our business as we wanted. It's certainly not lavish; but then, it's a 2star hotel in an old Welsh village, - Unless you're a Princess, it has everything you need to a perfectly decent standard..
Review 53:Arrived a little later than expected and miss evening meal, only 1 sitting at 19:00 (large coach party). However the Indian down the road was recommended and was good value for money
Review 54:Bedroom was clean, power shower was excellent, breakfast was nicely cooked and piping hot. All staff were polite and friendly
Review 55:The bed was hard and uncomfortable and had sheet and blanket not duvet which I prefer.
Review 56:Clean modern bedroom and en suite. Good breakfast. Great location.
Review 57:Car parking was poor - plenty of space, but needs re-surfacing (surfacing at all!). Sleep was disturbed by raucous wrinklies returning to their rooms after bingo.
Review 58:The hotel was welcoming both from the point of view of friendly staff, and also in terms of it felt right as you walked in. The bedroom was clean, good bathroom, comfortable bed, plenty of storage space. The breakfasts were good, and service was prompt and friendly.
Review 59:Room shabby decs, old fashioned dark furniture
Review 60:Exc location, close to good restaurants and sea front. Bed linen spotless, bathroom clean, towels clean. Breakfast table numbered, no waiting about, waitress service, food hot nice quality
Review 61:Minor points - lack of wifi in room - tv very small Major points - breakfast poor quality ingredients - general feeling of hotel was tired in need of uplift - towels were clean overall poor value for money
Review 62:location staff friendly and polite
Review 63:The room, in the newer part, was airless and hot. Very little ventilation from the very small window, which overlooked someone elses window and no air con. made it impossible to sleep. The lounge is dated, tired, dark and unwelcoming. The patch of waste ground used as a car park can fill up quickly.
Review 64:The junior staff were nice and polite.
Review 65:Front access lift was out of order so had to use a rear fire door to access: this was up an extremely steep slope.
Review 66:Ability to get my wife's wheelchair into the room, dining room etc. The speed of service and quality of food was good.
Review 67:Hotel decor a bit dated No wifi in rooms

Review 76:Manager very helpfull and great help with the parking
Review 77:Very good breakfast. Best shower ever. Good lift, no stairs to the dining room.
Review 78:Comfortable, warm hotel. Quality of rooms seems to vary depending on how recently refurbished. All are fine but some are nicer than others.
Review 79:Hotel needs TLC, but still nice.
